Great video ! Fascinating, I watched all of it even thought I will never apply window tinting to my automobile. Great video - I am sure it will help thousands and thousands of other people !
This is one of the best window film installation videos I've seen. You have a real talent for explaining the technique, with great attention to detail. I attempted this three years ago, and I can confirm it’s definitely not an easy task. I don’t want to discourage DIY enthusiasts, but be aware that it’s quite challenging. To make things a bit easier, you might consider ordering pre-cut film.
I started window tinting in 1986. I opened my own shop in 1994. I was in business until 2017 when the frequent bouts of carpal tunnel became too much. The only thing I would do differently is, I would cut the tint on the top edge of the glass while it's down a couple of inches. I would also join 2 pieces of tint together and cut both front and rear windows out at the same time.
@@DollarsNCentsOnline cutting on the window will give you a perfect or near perfect pattern. Also, if you use stainless steel blades they're lees likely to etch the glass.
It would be easier to cut the top of the tint with the window down 1 inch. Roll the window up and cut the door opening side and cut the bottom a half inch long and slide the tint down under the weatherstripping when installing on the inside of the car.
As a previous window tint installer, I’m not bashing on the guy he did a good job, just another tip, @14:42 when you take the remainder of film off, hold the film down still but just rip off the liner fast if you feel comfortable enough. Found it easier to do then going slow and was less likely damage the film. Good job tho man!
Also @15:50 when he’s using the bondo spreader to get excess soapy water out, rap that towel they give you in the kit around the spreader to get as much water out to not produce fingers.
Exactly. I have several vehicles that I will try this on. And several I would never even consider it. In fact I just had one of the specialty cars done at a pro shop. Gorgeous results on complex rear windows etc. All 5 on that car look amazing. I will def try this on the trucks and Corolla.
EXCELLENT! 👌🏻 👌🏻 I'll be doing my own tinting tomorrow afternoon. I stopped at a shop just to get a quote, the guy told me $125! Thank you for your expertise and this video! Saved me an arm and a leg!

Hi there your videos should be getting way more views! You are great on camera and produce a informative and detailed description of how to tint a window. Thank you 😊
Walmart tint doesn't get views. You know those Honda hatchbacks that have cracking tint? That's from Walmart. Maybe you're into the beat up Crackerjack box car look.
This was a great instructional video ! My boyfriend has been in the tint business for over 23 years . I watch him tint at his shop . He uses a little bit of baby wash though . And a high grade ceramic film . We are in a Florida scorching hot summers lol
I used the Black Magic window tint on my truck back in 2014 or so, and it's still holding up to this day. If you follow the video, it will likely outlast the amount of time you own the vehicle. My only gripe is the color of the tint from the outside. Thankfully it's not purple or chrome, just not the black I was hoping for. For reference, I went with the 20% VLT.
Great job on Video, Audio, Information and Method. You make it easy to understand what has to happen. Love the fact that the video is clear, sound is good, and there is no music in background. I hate video's with someone talking, but can't hear them cause of the music overlay. Great Work!
Thanks for the video, I found it very informative. As a detailer, I just wanted to add you should only scrape one direction when cleaning glass with a razor blade, never back and forth. You do not see scratches initially, but if you pull it out in the sunlight and look closely they are there
To separate the liner, you can also use two pieces of scotch tape - one on each side of the tint. Touch them then separate the tape and the liner will come right off
Thank you for this video. I am trying to tint the windows in our camper and I told my husband I could handle it haha and then I started and realized I had no idea what the heck I was doing! Your video was great! Great explanation and covered all the bases. Thank you so much!
I thought the same but I think the kit he bought has a premixed slip solution in it. Otherwise I thought he should mention whether he thinks he is saying heat shrinking to fit window curvature is unneeded.
@@goratgo1970 I was being ironic. I know that it's legal in some countries. I sell cars in Europe for 20 years and I can guarantee that it's not legal on most countries , and it's easy to see why, but just because it's legal doesn't mean it's not bad.
@@sandokan1578 Apologies my reply was not ironic, in California it is illegal and I once had to drive to the CHP station where they made me remove it from my Corvette. @@goratgo1970 no apologies needed my friend. Its just something that I find disturbing every time a see in some countries worldwide. In most countries in Europe (I cannot guarantee all countries) you are only allowed max. 65% except on the 3 front windows.

Bro! I used to do sales at a car custom shop years ago. Window tint was our primary product. I wish I had learned this back then. There's so much money in window tint if you're good at it. You can earn $100 to $200 per vehicle just matching front windows on trucks, SUV's and vans. I might go to Walmart today and practice on my brother's junker. 😃👍
Great how to info. But you should tell everyone that cheap window tint will fade and some turns purple in a year or so. Lasts longer if you keep your vehicle garaged. Buy the good stuff that comes gauranteed not to fade or turn purple, so you don't have to do it over again. And after tinting, DON'T clean the windows with glass cleaners that contain ammonia!!
Great video man !! When I was tinting in the 80s my shop would see no less than 5-10 cars a week that needed to be stripped and tinted right…people need to really pay attention and know that cleanliness is next to godliness lol
It’s extremely hard he definitely is a professional and has been doing this. My advice pay the extra money and go to someone who’s knows what there doing! Don’t waste your time or money on walmart tint!
Still at the beginning, but already just wanted to say. Great video! I'm very glad that you told us the price range we'll be looking at with just the kit plus the additional cost with any additional tools that you felt would make getting the job done easier.
I saw this video and liked it instantly. After trying to make rice so many times. I gave this a try and I really do see the difference which is absolutely amazing! Waghwan. Thank you.
I used WalMart Black Magic tint (3 stars) in the past on several vehicles. The tint went on fine, a bit hard to get the bubbles/fingers out but I did. In EVERY case the window tint changed colors in about a year and a half, it went from black to a grayish white color, it looked awful. I had to uninstall the film on each car, I cannot stress enough - this stuff is PURE CRAP! Do NOT install Black Magic film on your vehicle, it might look ok initially but will change color in time.
Personally, I would just buy it to learn how to install tint so I didn't mess up the nice tint I wanted to put on. $20 to learn and not have to buy another $100 roll seems worth it in every way to me. Most people aren't going to buy Walmart tint to keep on their car for very long.
Lol the cut of the video made me think to installed on the outside so my smart ass installed it on the outside 🤦♂️. I guess i will have to redo it essentially once it falls out lol.
@@hectorcorona8071 honestly idk i bought a spray, sprayed it to the window and it sticked. But now it’s officially out. I am going to redo it the right way now xp
Man, I wish watched this before attempting to redo bubbling tint on my car yesterday. I was irritated it took so long and I struggled. I pre cut my tint a little big and it made it a living hell, although it still came out "nice" for my first attempt at tint. I also cheated and took window seal off the door panel. Now I know what I did wrong. Thanks! It seemed impossible to get the old adhesive off. Kept gumming up blades, they wouldn't scrape it clean, even 90% rubbing alcohol didn't want to take it off after scraping what I could. Is there anything better for removing old tint adhesive?
Bro . We all 1 day want to learn . The same way every pro did . Made mistakes and learn . Or you think he was a pro as soon he was born🤔 you a troll dude 👎🏽DB
That would be the plan...let the pros handle it. If only the pros weren't greedy and trying to get over maybe we would. Got a quote yesterday for $280 just for the two front side windows and a strip across my front windshield. Foh
@@guttagutta420 bro ... Just try yourself. Practice and you will see . I did it myself and came out real good for my first time. All it need is patience
Hey. Great video! My question is How did you get the measurements so accurate for the windows? I have pt cruiser and was looking into learning how to redo my tint at home , instead of paying $120 for him to re apply more tint.
In the video I used a sharply and cut the film just outside the lines I made. For the back window this film would be too short and wouldn’t be able to cover. They do make some films for back windows though
I did this same method and finished my f150 stx truck today. Literally Walmart film is good enough as tint. The 35 percent is a bit light though. 20 would've been better but Texas law is only 25 percent in front so I didn't want the hassle. Thank you for this video. My first attempt was horrible but the second time is done good. Thank you

Some creasing but was able smooth most of those out once I turned my car heater on and got the windows warm (didn’t have a heat gun) the bondo things work great for finishing off the edges. Good luck!!
@@lanerobinson8994 any luck?
Wow! I never thought I could do this myself until I watched this video! I seen many on UA-cam try to explain, but camera angles were off, info wasn’t clear, or just to long and boring. Thanks for the informative video bro
For any kids or young adults looking to make some good money charge 150-200 and go do peoples cars after you know how and you could easily make 300-400 in a few hrs and only spend about 100 of that on materials, so I see this as a nice side hustle fs
I would but I don’t have a garage to do it
This was the one tutorial I didn’t have a hard time understanding, this guy got right to the point and made it very easy to understand! Props to you man
just gonna get mine done by a professional bcuz i do not trust myself at all but still enjoying this video😭
Great video !
Fascinating, I watched all of it even thought I will never apply window tinting to my automobile.
Great video - I am sure it will help thousands and thousands of other people !
Lmao same here mine already has it! But if someone asks now i can say i I know how to wont do it but i know how :v
Now you know that these are rookies on here they can't work with one piece of tint let alone two pieces and one cut.
Is there a reason why you have to cut it against the window instead of on a surface you don't have to be so careful on?
Comments like this are why I go thru the comments thank you for this. You just made my project that much easier.
@@rhondasmith1912You're welcome.
You nailed this instructional video! Using all supplies from Walmart! Awesome job! Thank you!
Also @15:50 when he’s using the bondo spreader to get excess soapy water out, rap that towel they give you in the kit around the spreader to get as much water out to not produce fingers.
outstanding video man. I may try this on my old truck I'm fixing up but I will leave my nice vehicles to the pros like you.
Exactly. I have several vehicles that I will try this on. And several I would never even consider it. In fact I just had one of the specialty cars done at a pro shop. Gorgeous results on complex rear windows etc. All 5 on that car look amazing. I will def try this on the trucks and Corolla.
Great video I really enjoyed watching the full tutorial. I feel much more confident trying to do this on my girlfriends 2003 Galant.
EXCELLENT! 👌🏻 👌🏻
I'll be doing my own tinting tomorrow afternoon. I stopped at a shop just to get a quote, the guy told me $125! Thank you for your expertise and this video! Saved me an arm and a leg!
How did it go?
update how did your tint turn out after all these months is it still holding up well? I would like to do this but I do not want to have bubbles or mess up my tint
You should send the ship info to the guy a few comments above yours that’s ready to pay $350.
125? I got a quote for $350
Great video, I always did my own tint and never thought about using a sharpie instead of a razor..👍
I used to be 70 80% good in window tinting. But looking at your video makes it a whole lot easier.
Absolutely outstanding video, my man. Concise, informative, very professional, clear instructions and thorough demonstrations of each step. I don't comment on very many videos, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. I'm guessing that you've probably saved many people some money. Cool dude.....
Awesome tutorial that anyone can do if you follow directions. I have been putting off tinting the back window in our truck. I am now confident I can do this!!
Perfect. Just what we need. FYI you have a great instructional voice. Great editing too.
This will be my weekend project, crossing my fingers. !!!
@@KB-nt7eg lmao. Get a job kid. Obviously you can’t afford Walmart tint or you’d know how 🔥 the stuff is.
You made that look fairly easy. I think I can handle it. Great video. Thanks, dude.
Great Work!
I'm getting ready to paint my trailer right now I can't tell you how awesome this video is and I've learned so much thank you very much
Thanks for the video, I found it very informative. As a detailer, I just wanted to add you should only scrape one direction when cleaning glass with a razor blade, never back and forth. You do not see scratches initially, but if you pull it out in the sunlight and look closely they are there
Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hardest part is cutting the curved areas, the one I bought from Walmart did not have the film protection but a paper wrap instead.
You got window cling
@@DevArnold That explains the thickness, thanks.
Thanks, now I know. Oh well back to Walmart then.
I could be wrong but isn’t window cling for your house? I didn’t even know you could tint your house windows!
@@lionsatmidnighttheir static clean sucks it’s super rubbery and purple and hazy
The absolute best window tinting video by far ! Thank you for sharing.
You forgot to mention mixture of water, soap and alcohol for spray bottle. Very good instruction on tinting.
I thought the same but I think the kit he bought has a premixed slip solution in it. Otherwise I thought he should mention whether he thinks he is saying heat shrinking to fit window curvature is unneeded.
Thank you. I was searching for this comment
I'm going to attempt this next weekend
Aaaand apparently you can do that on the front windows... I thought it was a world safety thing. Thank you for the video
Legal in some States, check yours first!
I now live in Washington State where it is legal to a percentage - you cannot apply limo rating for instance. And some colors are legal here too. Safety factor is not addressed.
@@goratgo1970 no apologies needed my friend. Its just something that I find disturbing every time a see in some countries worldwide. In most countries in Europe (I cannot guarantee all countries) you are only allowed max. 65% except on the 3 front windows.
Amazing, and detailed instructional video, i felt like a pro installing my tint with your guidance!!
I love how Sam's just trying to play off the tears at first, and Morgan's just rollin with it.
Should’ve watched this before I did my first ever attempt today. Cool thing is I bought everything you got. Anyways great video, easy to follow. Let’s see if tomorrow goes better lol.
Update?
Any advice?
@@orlandovega6958 beginner tip, buy static clean tint, it’s tint that would be reusable and will stay on for a little
best window tint tutorial on youtube. Thank you so much for getting straight to the point snd being informative
Awesome video very informative honestly you are the hero we all need you deserve a raise or some sloppy toppy or something whatever tickles your fancy you deserve it thank you you are the boss applesauce
Thank you!!! People don’t respect other peoples spaces and I finally can tint my car myself!!! Thank you
Old video but you do a good job explaining your steps. Made it look easy!
What’s wrong with ammonia
@@FixableHQ because it can discolor and/or damage the window tint film.
I tinted my windows with walmart stuff 10 years ago and still looks good. Car always on the sun.
@@ABCDEFGHcreator really? Because I’m thinking of doing it as a business. Walmart tints is it good?

is yours still holding up?
Great video man !!
When I was tinting in the 80s my shop would see no less than 5-10 cars a week that needed to be stripped and tinted right…people need to really pay attention and know that cleanliness is next to godliness lol
Noticed you didn't use a heat gun. Maybe because this window has very little curve? Please explain when to use it and not. Love the video!
You dont need it with this type of tint
I learned something new about those razor blades....good to know, now I won't be wasting blades ty!!!
I watched several people do this, you confused the hell out of me!
Perfect! Ive been looking into doing this myself! Thanks for the video!
Best tint video I’ve seen on YT. THANKS!!!
Good teaching video! Once you know how to do it, it gets easier
It’s extremely hard he definitely is a professional and has been doing this. My advice pay the extra money and go to someone who’s knows what there doing! Don’t waste your time or money on walmart tint!
You're a great instructor. 👍
I was just about to comment this! He’s a natural teacher
@@ssgslaughter4639 😄
Still at the beginning, but already just wanted to say. Great video! I'm very glad that you told us the price range we'll be looking at with just the kit plus the additional cost with any additional tools that you felt would make getting the job done easier.
This was so perfectly demonstrated. I got this 👍
It’s best to let a professional tint your windows that way you don’t have dirt in your film and no creases
clearly... but some people want to try them on their own baby!
Definitely gave me the confidence to do this myself. Great Job with instructions and details.
This is incredible and you have amazing control. Especially, considering you recorded everything while doing it...
Thanks for the kind words!
I feel like it’s a cheap quick tint though , just until you get it tinted professionally
Well if you wanted quality and longevity you wouldnt be going to walmart
Personally, I would just buy it to learn how to install tint so I didn't mess up the nice tint I wanted to put on. $20 to learn and not have to buy another $100 roll seems worth it in every way to me. Most people aren't going to buy Walmart tint to keep on their car for very long.
a year and a half? that’s impressive, sounds like you installed it on the outside but who knows. it’s good cheap stuff for over a year
mine did that in a day. I'm taking it back!
I’m very impressed with how simple and easy you make it. Great instructions I liked and subscribed 👍🏼👍🏼
Lol the cut of the video made me think to installed on the outside so my smart ass installed it on the outside 🤦♂️. I guess i will have to redo it essentially once it falls out lol.
How’s it holding up
@@hectorcorona8071 honestly idk i bought a spray, sprayed it to the window and it sticked. But now it’s officially out. I am going to redo it the right way now xp
It won’t last longer than 6 months or so. It’s just not designed to last as an exterior application.
Awesome video for us who cant and dont wanna pay an arm n leg for tint nowadays!!!!
ATR adhesive remover. It will make the adhesive melt like butter
I’m glad it helped you install your window!
very helpful I actually watched the whole segment thanks homeboy
Worse part was finding the peel start from the tint and protective sheet. I would not recommend doing this yourself. Pay the pros 😊
As a professional window tinter I would have to agree but some people want to try it on their own.
Bro . We all 1 day want to learn . The same way every pro did . Made mistakes and learn . Or you think he was a pro as soon he was born🤔 you a troll dude 👎🏽DB
The problem is I don't trust the "pros" so idy things myself.
Great video bro thank you for actually going to a regular store to get the supplies to get this job done !
Hey. Great video! My question is How did you get the measurements so accurate for the windows? I have pt cruiser and was looking into learning how to redo my tint at home , instead of paying $120 for him to re apply more tint.
Also do you think I will need another tint roll if I choose to o my back windshield.

Thank you
