The serum contents of C15:0 has long been utilized as an indication of dairy consumption.
30 g of butter (one Oz) gives what they claim is the optimal dose of C15:0.
When the creator of a new synthetic supplement presents research, facts like these are easily forgotten!

Thank you for very much for info on how much butter to eat to get optimal dose! 30 gms is a small amount, so easy to include in daily diet, including other foods like cream and whole milk can provide it also, grass fed of course.
The manufacturer says their C15 is bioidentical. The ingredients are vegan friendly they say. (eye roll from me not being vegan). I was going to purchase C15 after hearing a Dave Asprey interview with the company rep scientist from Fatty15, but won't now, as it's also expensive. She said her insomnia between 2-4 a.m. went away, but then said they were receiving unexpected feedback from customers getting great sleep. If she noticed that with herself, why would she be surprised others got that benefit? (You have to wonder about truthfulness from someone who's selling it). I read a review from someone who said their sleep did not improve on C15 for 3 mths..

In order to improve my life, I was told I needed to find more meaning for my life. That I needed to find a purpose to go forward with. While at Walmart one day shopping for things to furnish my new apartment, I entered the "Bath" section. Looking there for such things I came upon some shower curtains. One stood out to me. It was of three dolphins jumping out of the water. Such began my life of living with more purpose. I was showering and living my life with more porpoises. 3 to be exact. Don't worry, I won't quit my day job and become a comedian. I also know porpoises and dolphins are different but you get my joke anyway 😂. Thank you for the info on C15.

I believe that it’s always been known that you need some saturated fat. However currently the official recomended amount is about 10 % of calorific intake. This dolphin diet experiment is truly remarkable and not a little odd. (I mean dolphins working for the us navy? Who would have thought?)
Regardless yup it’s truly remarkable as it appears to have discovered an essential fatty acid ie C15. From reading around this c15 is found in milk, cheese, yogurt and cream. This is all stuff that has be deprecated these last 40 years because of current advice to keep saturated fat intake down. For me I’m immediately going to raise my consumption of full fat Greek yoghurt, butter, cheese, full fat milk. If what is good for dolphins is good for humans (ie c15 fatty acid) this could be a major explanation for our awful metabolic health. If I had the budget I would buy this supplement but I don’t and it’s probably unnecessary.

The recommendation about limiting saturated fat in the diet you mention is now slowly deleted.
It has never had any backing in science. Only in skewed science. Nothing debunking it was allowed to be published for 50 years.
But I guess it will take 50 years until repeating that idiotic myth stops.

@@larsnystrom6698 I think the health authorities panicked sometime in the late 70s due to skyrocketing heart disease and then put 2&2 together making 5.26. The blame for rising heart disease was heaped upon saturated fat when the real cause was actually unknown. Hence 50 years of misguided advice that has played havoc with our metabolic health.
With hindsight the root cause was probably smoking, maybe alcohol consumption and a tendency not to do enough exercise. I mean no one in the seventies went to a gym and gotta be said that the diet was probably suboptimal at least in my house! But the absolute demonisation of saturated fat was completely wrong headed as was the promotion of carbohydrate over protein and fat. Hopefully one day soon we will start receiving dietary advice that’s fit for purpose.

"The United States Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs was a select committee of the United States Senate between 1968 and 1977. It was sometimes referred to as the McGovern committee, after its only chairman, Senator George McGovern of South Dakota."

Cost is well under $2 per day for 100mg... closer to $1 per day. Compare that with a popular brand of grass-fed butter, which is about $10 for 250g. Let’s conservatively say that you ate the butter over 10 days… that’s 25g per day. And I think I read somewhere that C15 is 1% of butter fat? Assuming the cow was eating the right things! So that’s 250mg C15 per day from butter, at a cost of $1 per day, but you’re also getting all the even-chain fatty acids which are apparently more inflammatory. My math could be all wrong but it shows that the costs are in the same ballpark. I think people would be willing to pay 2-3X for the convenience and assurance of having it in pure supplement form.

Meat: Lamb, veal, and beef, especially those with separable fat, contain significant amounts of C15
Fast Foods: Items like cheeseburgers and hamburgers also have notable levels of C15

They say the water is warming so the fish they consume are not as fat as the fish on the east coast! Where are the trials from people taking C-15? You have people leaving comments on their website but where are the medical reports showing reversing fatty liver and Alzheimer’s dementia after taking C-15 for period of time! From what I been reading, you can get a lot of C15, but you can't get enough from diet because of how bad or foods nutrition. So a CAFO beef and dairy is lower in C15, then grass fed and grass finished beef and dairy. Even fish that's high in C15 are lower today than 50 years ago. Partly because of the ocean temperature changes.

You can easily get enough of C15:0 if you eat any kind of dairy. Probably also as an omnivore,
But vegetarians might have to add another supplement to the usual ones.
Unfortunatly, the Fatty15 supplement the researchers have developed is too expensive.

Color me skeptical. Went to the fatty 15 site. Constantly mentions 'the science' but doesn't provide links to any studies. Would love to see a video with someone who doesn't have a financial interest in fatty 15. Sure dolphins are mammals but they have very different environment from humans. Don't have to deal with traffic, deadlines and spending eight to 10 hours a day sitting at a desk and traffic. Feeling "better" and sleeping "better" are pretty subjective and without placebo controlled trials there doesn't seem to be a lot of concrete proof.

Sleep quality can be measured fairly accurately by using a fitness tracker. Mine uses heart rate variability to measure my energy levels and that corresponds to feeling better ( or worse) as for this study it seems plausible. Personally I’m upping my intake of full fat dairy. If I had the cash I would buy the supplement but I don’t and likely not necessary. My blood test results and midriff measurements will give feedback over the next year or so.
