Haven't been in wow for years too and happy to have found your channel. Would love to see you progress as its helping me decide if I want to resub and begin again.
Thanks for watching! It's been fascinating to see how much the game has changed since the last time I played. After three sessions, I've nearly made it to level 20, and I plan to keep playing (and streaming) more. So far, it feels like the game has evolved to the point that it's possible to play it more casually, which is a big plus for me. I can't imagine going back to the days of trying to manage a raiding guild. 🤪
There is an arachnophobia mode in the options that will turn spiders into different minions (mostly crabs). Hope you'll continue this journey. I'd enjoy watching that series.
You're forced into the new player experience/Exile's Reach on your first character but then you can opt out of Exile's Reach and into the racial starting zones in subsequent characters.
13:30 they have a motorcycle because of an achievement that was put into the game years ago. Once you've collected enough Heirloom gear (account bound leveling gear) you get a "chauffeur" that can be used as a normal ground mount before buying mount training. It was really nice a long time ago, but in the past few years they've reduced the level requirement for mount training (both cost and level) that it's really only used for the first 10 levels now.
Thanks for the info! That's part of what I've enjoyed most about coming back to WoW after so many years. A mount like that would have been the most epic/elite thing ever in vanilla. I love that it's just low-level stuff now. 😁 Thanks for watching!
@@decafjedi There is no cost for mount training. You automatically get ground riding at 10, fast ground at 20, Fast flying at 30, and superfast flying at 40. Mounts are really cheap now too. Depending on your zone you get Dragonflying at 10.
@@decafjedi No problem! I enjoy watching “new” player play throughs. Even though I’ve played the game for nearly 20 years, I still learn new things about it. It’s very interesting to see the game through the eyes of someone who hasn’t consistently played it. New perspectives open up new ways of thinking! Since you left before tbc, I would recommend checking out WOTLK and Legion, as those are 2 fan favorite expansions that were really well received across the board, so ideally you’d like them as well. You can talk to chromie in SW near the embassy (her icon is an hourglass on the map) to “timewalk” to those expansions so that it gives you the initial quest to head to them. Legion will have an actual “story” for you to progress through, where as WOTLK still has that vanilla vibe of “here’s a bunch of new zones with quests, enjoy the exploration”
You only get Exile's Reach on your very first character, after that you can choose either that or one of the older starting zones(from the cataclysm expansion, so it is a bit different from vanilla). It is the same for how you level up, on your first character you are transfered to the lands of the previous expansion( this case it is the Dragon Isles of Dragonflight). On any alt you can choose from Chromie(a bronze dragon) to do levelling in any land of any of the previous expansions, which there are 9 now. From the options, there is a way to add more action bars if you need them(and you do).
Huh. What a weird character creation screen. That's not how mine looks at ALL. The classes are just lined up at the bottom for me. And on top of that it doesn't show you any of the other allied races that exist? I figured it would show them but greyed out until you unlock them. Maybe it doesn't tell you they exist until you hit level 50 the first time? The new player experience is foreign to me lol. Been playing since a couple months before TBC launched so. There is also more Night Elf customization options you can unlock later. Some more eye and skin colors.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah, the new player experience is wildly different from vanilla WoW (I dipped out right before TBC launched). I'm curious to see what leveling up is like after Exile's Reach. In vanilla, the game really funneled players from zone to zone - and eventually dungeon to dungeon - with a somewhat predictable flow. Here, I was kinda just dumped in Stormwind after the tutorial. I ended up going to Westfall to do some quests, but that was mostly out of nostalgia. Maybe I'll head to the Dragon Isles next and try to get a better sense of the new content and leveling experience there. 👍
Yes there are 5 allied races unlockable for both sides, this was from the expansion Battle for Azeroth, that introduced Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Unlocking them now should be simpler than back then.
Once you level your first character to max, any subsequent characters can have the original (Cataclysm era) starting experience. There are twice as many races available to unlock, now, too. Also, It bothered me more than it should that you didn't open your bags and put on your new gear when you got it 😀.
The synthwave portal is a live wallpaper that was floating around on the web. From there, I created the retro Warcraft logo in Photoshop. Thanks for watching!
I already feel like my lore knowledge ends somewhere around halfway through the Warcraft II campaign with bits of the cancelled Lord of the Clans point-and-click adventure thrown in. 🤣

Thanks for the heads up - and thanks for watching! 👍 I'm definitely planning to continue on my WoW journey. The next episode should go up on Friday.

Ah, that's good to know! I liked Exile's Reach a lot, but I kinda miss those starting areas.
Thanks for watching!
@@decafjedi After you have done Exile's Reach once, you will get a choice of that or your racial starting zone.

Typical warlock: The mage asks you to defend her from the harpies, and you abandon her twice. XD
If you think this is bad, you should have seen me back when I played a hunter. 😂
Bro how'd you make that intro

Prepare to be completely lost. The lore is a confusing mess even for veteran players.
