I knew of them in their early days but I totally missed this release so it goes both ways! On the odd chance you haven't yet, make sure to check out the first album Since I Left You, their initial masterpiece.
This is certainly one of the most artistic band to have come out over 20 years. Seriously, wonderfully dynamic sound and videos style off the charts. I listen to them quite often just to vibe.
The original is one of my favorite songs. This is a great remix that keeps the spirit of the H & C version and brings out the inherent funkiness of the song. About time the Avalanches came out of retirement.
It must be my age. Why I am so late in discovering this music? When I was 13 good music just came to me so easily. Nowadays I only hear crap, unless I really search for better, like this. Sorry that is a sad comment but a glad discovery for me.
Heard this for the first time today ................ it is one of the best things I have ever had the pleasure of seeing and listening to and I am 60 next month!!
I say this as someone who loves the original "Talking to a Stranger" so much that I have it set to wake me up every morning on my phone as an alarm: I LOVE THIS REMIX. What's more, I love that you took the original music video elements and used them ALL. This just wins at every level.
I was never particularly a Hunters & Collectors fan, (there's just too much great music out there to be able to follow it all.) The Avalanches have reminded me to keep looking back at stuff I only heard in passing at the time.
@@pearce554 I too missed this the first time around. There are hundreds of reasons to love The Avalanches, but this is one I wasn't expecting -- introduction to awesome music I missed back in '82!
I woke from a fever dream the other morning with this exact beat and echo like lyrics bouncing around my head.... to my memory I've never heard this song before.. Yet here is the song, no doubt. I think i might be losing it.
Wow, real visual art in media, something i haven't seen in a long fucking time. Vintage cinematography has certain aspects that digital cannot compete with.
It's the rainy season in holy moley land. This is great . The first thing I ever heard from them was frontier therapy I think. They bring the positive dance rhythm with the work. Very nice ❤
I'm getting very strong RAGE at 3am in the 90's vibes. Your brain is a bit mush, and just can't compute what it just witnessed. For those not Aussie, RAGE was the main music video show, airing from usually midnight on Friday and Saturday, with the top 40 chart starting at 6am. Practically unrated, broadcast some eclectic stuff. A staple of late night gaming sessions, housepartys, comedown from a night at the club on biccies. A cultural icon.
This song makes me think of a mixture of "Matador" by "Los Fabulosos Cadillacs" and two other things I can't remember right now. I like it. Me gusta jajaja.
Good tribute to Hunters & Collectors. Many here might not have been around in 1982 when the quite groundbreaking original offering came from this great Aussie group. Try to check out the original.
Some of the vocals remind me of David Byrne, and maybe it's the black and white imagery, but, Morrisey.... old school stuff. Oh, I see this was remixed from a video from about that day... And beyond that, this brings me close to the Sun Dance ceremony, and a dozen other spooky things, really old school. I think that because the work is brave, and complete that I like it's hero so much. I've never heard of the Avalanches until today, and I'm glad there's a 2016 album to check out.
I think the closest you could get would be some Depeche Mode content, some King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizzard stuff, the specific music video for "Secret Enchanted Broccoli Forest", and some of the fan videos which exist for some Boards of Canada music such as Turquoise Hexagon Sun. ua-cam.com/video/lh2qHxUDt6o/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/mAkgUeJDgQ8/v-deo.html
Highly unusual film making, the Avalanches hit the point though. Hunters and Collectors, Greg Person with his gas bottle to the Spaghetti tree in Stkilda, Melbourne Australia, filmed in Stkilda on the beach in the sand dunes and under the shower with a rubber band around the face of Mark Seymour
looks like a cross between a skinny puppy vs ministry video. dope song too. so glad to hear they've kept true to their sample stacked sound that made the 1st album both a masterpiece and a labor of love indeed
Incredible and beautiful! I'm learning so much from this! (Yes, it's true, I should have known all this for the last 40 years but... eff you! Who asked you?!?!?)
It's nice to know that at the age of 60 I can still discover new bands that completely blow me away.
I'll be there to join you in a few-couple years, brother. You probably couldn't have chosen a better band! Cheers to the weird!!

I don't know how I got to this corner of UA-cam but I'm on a Avalanches video binge now!
Diddo
Lucky bastard!
I just found out about them yesterday and started watching watching their videos today. I'm hooked!
Well you know, on UA-cam you're only two clicks away from greatness and/or weirdness.
I blame Nagativland, myself
One of the greatest Australian film clips in my opinion. Its still looks as original and fresh as anything around at the moment.
why are Avalanches so damn mysterious? I love them so much
They are so good. I've only just found out about them.
because they are the kidbrothers of daft punk :D
+crazycutz no they aren't lol
Daft Punk are "sell-outs" compared to Avalanches and they've become really boring musically.
Avalanches is like the electronic version of T00L
i like that comparison

So, there are original clip bits mixed with new ones?
I didn't even know it was a remix. I'll have to go listen to it.
Wow what a track... managed to do justice to the original as well... sublime

I love the “Relight My Fire” sample there. Best disco song EVER.
The sample at the beginning is "Relight My Fire" By Dan Hartman, for those looking like I was. Fantastic remix, by the way.
thank you sir
Take that also made a cover of that song that sounds like it
I heard that song on DDR back in the day :D
Wicked sample of a song that I grew up listening to.
First time I’ve heard this band.
Fucking incredible.
The amount of effort in every song and video for said song is amazing truly masterpieces
I cant even tell whats going on
Hunters and Collectors, one of my favourite Aussie Bands from the 80's.
The more you listen to it, the more you have to appreciate this masterpiece.
This beat ...this funk is undeniable
OMFG!!! What is this... I love It.
¡2024 y aún eres de los míos! The Avalanches! 🔥🔥🔥
its amazing when a group like the avalanches can disappear for a long time..and pikup right where they left off. FUKIN AMAZIN
I woke from a fever dream the other morning with this exact beat and echo like lyrics bouncing around my head.... to my memory I've never heard this song before.. Yet here is the song, no doubt. I think i might be losing it.
i know frontier psychiatrist from about 20 years ago...now loving this.....and 'running red lights'...thanks for good music
Kevan Whittaker, same situation lol, nuts as always, love it
Wow, real visual art in media, something i haven't seen in a long fucking time.

I appreciate the direction they've taken now but this Avalanches was dope af!
What the hell am I watching..............I'm completely blown away..............My new obsession!!!
It's the rainy season in holy moley land.
This is great . The first thing I ever heard from them was frontier therapy I think. They bring the positive dance rhythm with the work. Very nice ❤
The Avalanches can do no wrong. Amazeballs.
yea even 8 years later
I was thinking;
"'amazeballs' seems a little dated."
Then I see that this comment is 10 years old. Very appropriate for 2014. Love it.
Greg Perano and his gas bottle, Mark Seymour, the Jetsons, the Spaghetti tree, Hunters and Collectors, Yellow Tow Truck, Run, Run, Run. Genius stuff.

The second I hear that Bass, My worries, troubles are GONE...and it just gets better...peace.
Dan Hartman "Relight my Fire" sample at the beginning - NICE!
Finally real music!

Facinating take on this old song!
Thank you! 🎺
This shit is like a dream. Chaotic af, I love it.
these guys are bada$$. not sure what I like more; their music or the creativity in their videos...binge on
That's their best beat! ♥
More chaotic imagery and metaphoric visuals! I command it!
This is me if I continue down the path I've chosen...
This is amazing.. how am I just hearing for the first time!
matthew Rogers same here!!
are there more music videos filmed w/ this aesthetic or style?????? im obsessed with the flashing lights and the weird grim vibe

Mais qu' est- ce que
j' aime ça !
Punaise.... c'st carrément génial.
What strange and wonderful corner of Utoob have I stumbled into? And to think, in the endless universe, in another galaxy, this exact thing exists.
This is so beautifully filmed, and the original footage is so clear!
When I hear The Avalanches, my neighbors hear the avalanches too!
