For what it's worth, I really appreciated your input into the cohabbing drama, and was so grateful that your perspective was out there to help some people avoid dangerous husbandry decisions. I'm so sorry you got so much hate for that. You are incredibly thoughtful in how you share your information, and it really sucks that weighing in on a conversation led to people being so hateful. Only time has helped us get better but that feeling still comes up ones and a while.
I saw some of the comments after that video you referenced and hoped it didn't impact you. Didn't realize you had anxiety and as someone who also has it, I understand. I had two male leopard geckos left with me by an ex roommate (both in a single 20 gallon too 😢) and you helped me learn so much and give them a much better life.
yeah I didn't look at the comments, my boyfriend told me how youtube had automatically put up a things telling people to be kind in the comments, and if youtube had been triggered to do this on its own, then they must have been bad, but yeah instagram alone was rough enough lol. And oh god, hopefully the two males are living fabulous lives separately now lol
Pet communities often attract the worst. Seriously. Why is that so? I had already unsubscribed from that other channel because he started doing vape sponsors, and I thought it inappropriate for a lot of his audience. So I didn't see either his original video or your reaction/response, but I am so, so sorry that happened to you. Thank you for being such a positive, informative source of proper pet care for us!
I don't normally post comments, but I wanted to reach out and say that your videos and your care guide have been a huge help to me over the past few months! I was planning on getting a leo at the end of the year, but came across one who really needed a home back in july. I had to put together an enclosure and a routine much quicker than intended, and your videos are a big reason why my leo, cooper, is thriving much better than he was when I got him. wishing you the best with the move (I've been there, it's such a nightmare especially when you have mental health struggles) and wish all your babies the best!
You’ve help me out so so much with getting my first leopard gecko. Most of the stuff I’ve learned about them was mostly from you. I love your content ❤️I wish you the best! 💕
I recently got a Crested Gecko and your channel has been an amazing resource, I've been going through a lot of your old videos. Keep up the great work, your information is definitely appreciated. Also, more Crested Gecko videos please 😊.
Your videos helped me tremendously when I got my baby Leo 5 years ago. Your videos are very informative and full of love. I can tell you care a lot about your animals.❤
Your content is great. I started watching shortly after I got my first leo. Richie and I have loved your channel for years now. Ive had him about 15 years now, so i worry. Life happens fast. Remember to stop and smell the roses. Breaks are always okay. Thank you from Tx!
Aww wow, yes it flies by, I remember I'd always celebrate the geckos bdays, then it suddenly hits you, wow they're old 😬 lol. If it helps, males tend to live longer than females, so I hope you and richie have many more lovely years together :)
Thank you so much for all of your videos and words of advice they’ve been so helpful to me and my leopard gecko, one of the lockdown purchases you mentioned. Since using your channel as a resource, it’s become something I’m genuinely interested in because I care about you and all your geckos, so please no there are people who really value everything you’ve done and really care about your welfare and that of your many animals ♥
Thank you so much for your honesty! The world needs more people like you! Thank you for everything you do and all of the hard work that I am certain is dedicated to your channel. I watched this and smiled because I have never seen someone come out of their shell and just tell the truth about life, what's going on, what going to happen, etc. Every single one of your videos, shorts or long informational videos, are inspiring to me and many other viewers. You're an amazing reptile keeper and your reptiles are SOOOOOOOOO lucky to have you as their "mom" :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart and other's hearts for everything that you do for us. I will pray for you that you would have strength and courage as you navigate this obviously difficult time in your life and that all of your reptiles would thrive for many, many more years, including Minnie💛💛💛🦎🦎🦎🦎 Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! God Bless, thank you. 💛♥♥♥👍👍👍
Aww thank you so much Heather ❤ I was quite nervous about putting the video up, because I don't often tend to open up about things online, but I really appreciate it 😊
As someone with anxiety, I can relate !! Plus, then you're putting yourself in the public eye while trying to function doing normal adult things. I don't even have a Leo but your channel has been a breath of fresh of air over the years ( plus I'm just a giant animal nerd) Keep doing what you're doing 💚
Love your content and info! I'm sure your vids have saved hundreds of geckos and helped a bunch of keepers. ^^ You really helped me out when I was tossed 2 of them in the dead of winter and had no idea about geckos. :3 When you see someone doing something that could endanger geckos, you got to speak up! It's scary when the spotlight is on you, but you weren't in the wrong. They are the one that made a controversial video that gave out bad advise that could put many geckos in danger. Post what you're exited about and enjoy the platform. Hope you have a wonderful Holiday and a great 2025! :3
I absolutely love listening to your videos, and I don't even own any of the reptiles you have! You're always so gentle and polite, and give such good information. I will say a prayer that you have a smooth transition when you find a house. I know it isn't easy, but I pray it will be worth it!
Your channel has been such a help over the years for me and my first gecko and is once again such a help since getting my second as I haven't had a baby gecko in years and wanted a refresher on all the information. Truly the work you've put in and the passion you have for your reptiles shows in every video you make. It is appreciated by everyone who is seeking long-form, easily digestible, information-packed content to help them better their gecko husbandry or in order to get started on the right foot with their first. Definitely don't stop what you're doing and keep the videos coming!
Your videos have been integral to keeping my leopard and crested geckos healthy and happy. They're my favorite care videos and you do an awesome job. Thanks, truly, and I hope 25 is awesome for you.
Hi I'm a subscriber from Hong Kong. Your videos on crested geckos helped me a lot when I was about to get mine. Lyra always makes me happy and I hope to see Drogo sometime. Also I can't use Tik Tok in Hong Kong so I get my info from youtube. Longer videos are good for me! 🙂
aww that's awesome! Thank you, I'm glad my videos have helped. Personally I don't really use TikTok/understand the hype, so don't worry, you're not missing out on much 😂
I also have that thing where I worry about healthy animals passing away after a pet death. I think you're totally right with the "people subscribing to know that they have the resource there" because I will watch the heck out of your videos when I'm looking into upgrading my leos enclosure/setup, but I will usually slow down a bit when that's not the case. But I still love to watch your videos from time to time regardless, because they really are informative and entertaining!
I've delt with a lot this year including family loss, pet loss and personal things too on TOP of my mental health. It's been a CR*P year - I'm fully with you 💛
Always nice to hear people being so open and honest with regards to their mental health, especially on such a big platform and in the spotlight in the hobby! I said to you personally but will also say on here that I genuinely believe your content is reaching the right people and helping animals all around the world, even if sometimes you don't believe it!
I love how your channel has matured, expanded, and come to explore more reptiles and inverts! Any time we have questions about how our geckos are doing, your channel is always our first (often only needed) stop. We appreciate you and your quality content. All the best to you and the reptile family.
Always loved ur videos! Ur help has been invaluable for me over the years and there's no way my leopard gecko care would be as good as it is if it wasn't for you! Wishing you all the best x
Really appreciate your honesty..which given that I've watched pretty much all your videos, I can say is one of the things I appreciate most of all about your approach Rebecca. I echo what others have said here..your videos have helped me SO much as I've taken my first leap into reptile keeping with my leo. I trust that what you have to say is founded on years of experience and a genuine passion for these beautiful creatures. I'd also like to add, as a counsellor, I really champion anyone who speaks out about their own mental health, particularly on social media which can be so brutal. I'm sorry to hear that you've received such a lot of backlash previously - but I'm glad that you've found your way back - you're valued, whether that be with regular posts/videos or one here and there. Thank you and all the best for the house move 😊
I lost one of my scaly babies(leopard geckos) just before Thanksgiving. The loss left a huge hole. I'm going through the different stages of grief. I worry like you do that something else will happen. Please know that your content has helped me greatly in learning to take better care of my leopard geckos. Thank you for all you do.😊
aww i'm so sorry to hear that :( I know what you mean, I thought I was doing well one day, then I glanced over to Gizmo's empty tank (before the spiders were in there), and I just burst out crying. It does get easier though ♥
Firstly, thank you for what you do! I totally get the shorts-do-better situation. It really does remove the incentive for trying. Also, I'm sorry about Gizmo. She lived a great, long life in your care! I recently lost my axolotl after 6.5 years. Now, my leo (same age) is sick and in a specific medicine routine, just a month after I lost Toothless. I guess what I'm saying is: as someone who also does youtube, has lost a pet recently, has MDD/SAD, and cares for a leo - I hope you know things will get better and that we will always be here for you.
Thank you for being so honest and honoring yourself. I feeeeel you on so much of this- from the effort to make videos resulting in no money, to the- ahem- small person that made big problems and put me in the crosshairs of the worst of the reptile internet trolls. I recently decided to let go of the pressure I’ve placed on myself to feed the algorithm… it’s too costly to my mental health. I admire and respect you. Do what’s best for you and your animals.
Thank you :) Im glad to hear you're doing better :) We've both been through it this year, eh? 😅 But we're stronger for it, and we'll let our love and passion for these wonderful creatures speak for itself 😊
Just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do, I've been watching for a while. I've had a leopard gecko for just over a year, and when she went off her usual food and I was a little lost about how to help with that, some of your videos helped me out with information, specifically using waxworms to encourage feeding. Since then I've been able to keep her eating well, using dubias with the occasional waxworms and wax moths, I've tried her with hoppers (pretty much all I was told to feed her when I got her) several times again since, but she seems to have gone off them entirely. No matter, so long as she's happy eating something, that's good!
I have my own channel and I’ve been making reptile edits and vlogs. You have inspired me to start my own channel. And I’m gonna show my leopard gecko and my opinions about reptiles. So thank you for all of your content cause it has helped me so much! 👍❤️
I just wanted to say that you are one of the reasons I have a gargoyle gecko and one of the best resources on youtube on how to properly care for them. I will always support no matter which direction your content goes in
Hang in there girl I think you're doing an awesome job and I totally understand about your older gecko and after your other one had passed I feel your pain and went through the same thing
You saved my first leopard gecko's life! I got her this summer and she wouldnt eat at all. I tried everything, the set up and temperatures were all good. Because I had purchased your leopard gecko guideline ebook, and because I had watched most of your content, I was able to notice that something was really off and that stress wasnt the cause of her not eating. She was 11month old when i got her and she weighed 34g at her lowest. I went to the vet and he found out she had follicular stasis which is a topic unheard of where I live. No reptile channel talk about this! We did the surgery (very costly) and now she weighs 49g! She is extremely picky and only eats dubia roaches but at least she is alive and healthy. You saved her, thanks to you I was able to react quickly. THANK YOU.❤
Excellent information and educational content make solid videos. Add to that a derpy Diego, and you have a fantastic channel that will stand the test of time.
You're a great role model for long term reptile care, and have really helped me! If you're looking for a new frontier, I'd suggest exploring gecko training. My leopard gecko has really taken to target training, it has been a game changer for choice based interaction and enrichment. Lori Torrini is the guru for science-based snake training and has recently started target training a leopard gecko.
I love your channel. Thanks to you, I was able to provide Sahyu with way better care than I would have without it. So thank you. Thank you for helping me provide her with a good life from beginning to end. I may get a rescue leo. One in particular I'm looking at, named Stitch, has no toes. As in they're all down to one or two joints. Of course I hope she gets adopted before my health improves, but if not I'm willing. Any advice for a toeless leopard gecko?
Aw thank you :) I would maybe limit how many climbing opportunities she has (if there's more than one foot without toes) and she may not be able to grip well, but it is quite surprising how well geckos will adapt. :)
@@leopardgeckotalk What do you think of small mammal toys for enrichment for reptiles in general? Because small mammals have so many enrichment things that you can buy and that's not fair. I remember Sahyu loved to climb around on one of those bubble fidget devices. The ones where you can press the bubbles down, flip it over, and pop it again. And jingly cat balls with no catnip. I always wondered if she would have liked a small hamster tunnel setup. She definitely had the adventurer bug.
The reptile community is crazy, sorry you were harassed (over caring about the welfare of animals...??) There's so much misinformation out there and good on you for trying to help someone. I saw it happen to ReptiFiles, it's just wild!
To be honest I just pop the food on the floor and bruce will come out to get it. I tend to only do it with morio worms as they cant leap off and escape in my reptile room lol
Heya, may i ask what's a good way to fatten my leopard gecko? i know the fella is underweight but i just don't really know how to fatten him up naturally
Best to gutload his food, make sure he has a varied diet, crickets and locusts can been good insects to feed on the regular. Make sure his food is dusted with the correct supplements. If you head over to my website www.askleopardgecko.com/ and go to the feeding section they'll be all kinds of tips and tricks.
Thanks for your good work. It's pretty easy to see how people burn out on this. For me, I've just always seen your channel as a resource for information and tips on reptile keeping and not really anything else. FWIW I thought your little tiff with Adam was informative, but my gecko is four, and she's been an only gecko for 3 1/2 years, so I don't see that changing. She seems pretty happy with just me, the tenrec and the hissing cockroaches. (Well, she loves the baby hissers at least. She doesn't pay much attention to the adults.) So I've got no plans to add more leopard geckos, and she's got a bioactive beardy cage, with an outer enclosure on a big, old table island, so she's got as much space as any indoor animal that size ever has. In fact, she's got a tiny bit more space than my mammal does. Your online spat really made me think, would my gecko be happier with a friend of her own kind. And in my case, I think the answer was clearly no. My gecko is completely adjusted to her surroundings, and she does not appear to lack anything she needs or wants, so why mess with the program. But I'm glad I thought about it, and if it causes other keepers to reconsider their gecko-housing choices, that's a good thing IMO. FWIW I do not think there is a definitive answer as to whether you can co-house multiple females. I would never advise anyone to do it, because I don't do it myself and I don't personally know anyone who does it. And I know that wasn't the only issue, but it was the only one that was relevant to me. Anyway, thanks again and good luck with your animals, whether you keep making videos or not!
There is no good argument for housing multiple leopard geckos together, why risk it? You can find countless examples of geckos seeming to get along just fine and then something terrible happens. I just don't get why people feel the need to do something that is obviously so risky for the animals. What are we trying to do if not to provide a good life for our pets and minimize their risk of harm and injury?
@@fibbintiggins2858 Seriously? I really don't know how to respond to that without creating the same drama and conflict that is driving this content provider out of youtube. That was a silly comment and the answer is obvious. But I don't see any point in defending a position I never took in the first place. So whatever, think what you want. That's the only response I can have that won't get this thread deleted.
Just a couple of comments as I'm watching Rename the channel Leopard Gecko and Friends, then you can speak about whatever you like The animals are your companions firstly and the channel celebrities secondly, it's your decision whether they appear on the channel - regarding your "old lady" maybe a sticky regarding her eye and condition, it'll save repeating yourself. If you're struggling with new content maybe try changing your format on occasion - it may reinvigorate you Re the haters, if you met these people in the street you wouldn't give them a second look nor consider their opinion, on the internet the same applies, you don't know them, if something is being said and is interesting/relevant take it on board, if it's offensive/upsetting, they don't matter - from a elder sufferer of anxiety I've found, obviously for myself, that this mindset helps. There are haters/arseholes and trolls throughout UA-cam, plus people are tribal, they'll defend their "chiefs" ideals and thoughts That's my ramble, good luck and best wishes for the new year
thank you :) Yeah I've thought about switching to like 'Rebecca's Reptiles' but I didn't know if that was too basic 😂 plus I feel like people know me as 'leopard gecko' lol. I'll have a think about it though. And yeah, what was quite eye opening about that whole situation was some of the people who messaged me privately to support me, fellow content creators, many who know the other person,, in person. However, understandably no one really wanted to publicly get involved, so I just had to try and stand my ground lol
Why don't you do more affiliate marketing on your channel to earn more from UA-cam? Most content creators don't earn from UA-cam, but from sophisticated marketing.
Yeah I have some affiliate links in the description, but I don't really want my channel to turn into a pushing products/use my affiliate links, but say I have a tank build and I list all the products I used, I'll point out that there are affiliate links in the description 😅
I'm one of those people who's just been watching UA-cam less and less as life gets busy. But I -- and my geckos -- have genuinely benefited from your channel over the years! 🧡
same, her channel is amazing!!
aw thank you :) Yes, I certainly dont blame anyone from switching off now and again. I even found myself using social media less and less :)
I prefer long,in depth videos and really hate the shorts. I got my leo this summer and really have appreciated your channel.
i dont enjoy shorts too

I prefer long form but I also enjoy shorts. If it's by my favorite channels, I don't care how long it is as long as they keep making it lol
Same the short form content is mostly for people suffering from brain rot, unfortunately seems to be the majority.
The lack of dramatics in your videos is honestly a breath of fresh air! Glad to hear you are just doing what you want to do, and not getting sucked into the click bait rabbit hole 😊

I had to put together an enclosure and a routine much quicker than intended, and your videos are a big reason why my leo, cooper, is thriving much better than he was when I got him. wishing you the best with the move (I've been there, it's such a nightmare especially when you have mental health struggles) and wish all your babies the best!
Aw that's amazing, thank you so much 😊
You’ve help me out so so much with getting my first leopard gecko.
Aw thank you! Yes, I really need to make some more, Lyra is brilliant, I just never really know what to talk about/what people want to know 😅
Your videos helped me tremendously when I got my baby Leo 5 years ago.
@@leopardgeckotalk it does help knowing that! We'll definitely be tuning in as long as we can. Keep your sprits up :)
I really hope you will continue to post all of your amazing videos and hope there will be no more drama, because you so don’t deserve it! ❤
Great video, Becca. Glad you're doing well. It's been a real tough time for those of us w anxiety problems, especially here in the US
Thank you so much for all of your videos and words of advice they’ve been so helpful to me and my leopard gecko, one of the lockdown purchases you mentioned. Since using your channel as a resource, it’s become something I’m genuinely interested in because I care about you and all your geckos, so please no there are people who really value everything you’ve done and really care about your welfare and that of your many animals ♥
thank you very much :D
Aww thank you so much Heather ❤ I was quite nervous about putting the video up, because I don't often tend to open up about things online, but I really appreciate it 😊
Love your videos, thank you. My son has had a gecko for almost a year and we have benefited from your videos, please keep doing them x
This is my go to channel for leopard gecko advice.
I totally support you! And so sorry about all the drama!
As someone with anxiety, I can relate !! Plus, then you're putting yourself in the public eye while trying to function doing normal adult things.
I don't even have a Leo but your channel has been a breath of fresh of air over the years ( plus I'm just a giant animal nerd)
Keep doing what you're doing 💚
Thank you for doing what you’re doing. You helped me so much
Aww no problem :) thank you!
Love your content and info! I'm sure your vids have saved hundreds of geckos and helped a bunch of keepers. ^^
You really helped me out when I was tossed 2 of them in the dead of winter and had no idea about geckos. :3
When you see someone doing something that could endanger geckos, you got to speak up!
It's scary when the spotlight is on you, but you weren't in the wrong.
They are the one that made a controversial video that gave out bad advise that could put many geckos in danger.
Post what you're exited about and enjoy the platform. Hope you have a wonderful Holiday and a great 2025! :3
Aww thank you, I'm glad I've been able to help :) And thanks haha yeah it was very overwhelming 😅
I absolutely love listening to your videos, and I don't even own any of the reptiles you have! You're always so gentle and polite, and give such good information.
I will say a prayer that you have a smooth transition when you find a house. I know it isn't easy, but I pray it will be worth it!
Thank you, I really appreciate that :)
Another hongkonger yay
aww that's awesome!
Aw haha yeah I've found I do the same thing when researching animals so I figured that might be what others do 😅
I've delt with a lot this year including family loss, pet loss and personal things too on TOP of my mental health. It's been a CR*P year - I'm fully with you 💛
I always appreciated the information you have presented. Anyone with a leopard gecko would do well to watch your videos. 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Always nice to hear people being so open and honest with regards to their mental health, especially on such a big platform and in the spotlight in the hobby! I said to you personally but will also say on here that I genuinely believe your content is reaching the right people and helping animals all around the world, even if sometimes you don't believe it!
thank you 😊
I love how your channel has matured, expanded, and come to explore more reptiles and inverts!
Aw thank you so much Gemma 😊😊
My leopard gecko passed away last week, living to age 17. Your videos helped me give him the best life I could give the little guy.
Aww I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm sure him and Gizmo will be hanging out 🌈
Sending good vibes and grace
I love your content! You are doing great!
thank you :)
It does get easier though ♥
thank you so much for your content! Because of your channel, I now own a crested gecko and a leopard gecko!
😊
Aw that's amazing, thank you for watching :D Im glad I've been able to help :D
Firstly, thank you for what you do! I totally get the shorts-do-better situation. It really does remove the incentive for trying. Also, I'm sorry about Gizmo. She lived a great, long life in your care!
I recently lost my axolotl after 6.5 years. Now, my leo (same age) is sick and in a specific medicine routine, just a month after I lost Toothless. I guess what I'm saying is: as someone who also does youtube, has lost a pet recently, has MDD/SAD, and cares for a leo - I hope you know things will get better and that we will always be here for you.
Aww im so sorry to hear that 🥺 I hope your leo gets through this illness ❤
@ indeed!!
your videos are great
I just wanted to say that you are one of the reasons I have a gargoyle gecko and one of the best resources on youtube on how to properly care for them. I will always support no matter which direction your content goes in
Aww thanks, I don't actually have a gargoyle, though I've always thought they were very cool, do you get info from my crestie videos?
@leopardgeckotalk Sure did! They're very similar, so most care videos about cresties will apply to them as well!
Sure has been tough. Cheers ❤ Thank you for everything you do
thank you :)
Hang in there girl I think you're doing an awesome job and I totally understand about your older gecko and after your other one had passed I feel your pain and went through the same thing
Aw sorry to hear that :( and thank you!
Add to that a derpy Diego, and you have a fantastic channel that will stand the test of time.
aww thank you :D
All channels go up and down now and then you're doing a great job and hope you're house hunting goes well
thank you :D
I appreciate you and your channel ❤️
thank you❤
I don’t even have any lizards but I still love your channel, I’ve learned a lot from you
aw thank you!
Thank you :) and aw that's really interesting, I remember watching a video where Clint's Reptiles target trained Gus his Tegu :D
at 6:17 that boy is relaxing, 7:08 he loves that taste and at 8:29 hes finding the perfect scratching spot
😂😂 yup
I have a leopard gecko too he’s a male leopard gecko that for geckos are my favorite and the best ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
hope for a better year ahead.
thank you :D
It’s a shame that UA-cam pays the way they do. Or dont. I’ve heard these discussions before.
Yup, October to November pay dropped out of nowhere by about 12%. It literally makes you think your value = how many people click to watch your video.
Best voice on herptube
You inspired me to get a leopard gecko thank you
I named him mango
Aww thank you :)
@leopardgeckotalk will my Leo drop his tail if I vacuum in the same room?
Can you do a tutorial on how to make lizards eat outside the enclosure
I lost my leopard gecko recently his name was Raptor he died...
Oh no i'm so sorry to hear that 😪❤
@ he lived a good life like 13 years
Thanks for your good work. She doesn't pay much attention to the adults.)
So I've got no plans to add more leopard geckos, and she's got a bioactive beardy cage, with an outer enclosure on a big, old table island, so she's got as much space as any indoor animal that size ever has.
Most likely was natural causes. Should be safe for another reptile... Who knows maybe a rescue that looks similar ❤
Just a couple of comments as I'm watching
Rename the channel Leopard Gecko and Friends, then you can speak about whatever you like
The animals are your companions firstly and the channel celebrities secondly, it's your decision whether they appear on the channel - regarding your "old lady" maybe a sticky regarding her eye and condition, it'll save repeating yourself.
If you're struggling with new content maybe try changing your format on occasion - it may reinvigorate you
Re the haters, if you met these people in the street you wouldn't give them a second look nor consider their opinion, on the internet the same applies, you don't know them, if something is being said and is interesting/relevant take it on board, if it's offensive/upsetting, they don't matter - from a elder sufferer of anxiety I've found, obviously for myself, that this mindset helps. There are haters/arseholes and trolls throughout UA-cam, plus people are tribal, they'll defend their "chiefs" ideals and thoughts
That's my ramble, good luck and best wishes for the new year
thank you :) Yeah I've thought about switching to like 'Rebecca's Reptiles' but I didn't know if that was too basic 😂 plus I feel like people know me as 'leopard gecko' lol.
