Sulfur is also used for hikers and backpackers to deter ticks. You just mix sulfur powder with baby powder (the baby powder cuts the smell of eggs) and you can get out in the wilderness and not worry about getting tick/chigger bites 😊

I have used the Peter Thomas Roth sulfur mask on and off for years. The odor can be off-putting but I can't deny that every time my skin is acting up, the mask comes through for me and squashes those zits down. Good to know that it's actually beneficial for other skin conditions as well. Thank you Andrea!

I’m definitely going to give this a go, I’ve only just recently developed what I suspect to be Perioral dermatitis after a period of stress, going back on a oral contraceptive and over doing strong tretinoin. Using a tiny amount of BP seems to help, but this sounds far more gentle so worth a try!

Happy Friday, Dr. Dray! The new Neutrogena mineral sunscreen in the light tint is WONDERFUL! So happy to have a tinted mineral sunscreen that doesn't make me look like a terra cotta pot! 🙂 Provides nice cosmetic coverage while still being lightweight and sheer. Love love love. I used to get perioral dermatitis occasionally, but your tip of petrolatum jelly on lips and corners of mouth before bed, along with switching toothpaste, did the trick for me. At that time, I tried sulphur ointment, but absolutely could not handle the awful smell, so threw it away. But I like the idea of using it for a short contact time, so I will buy a small tube to have on hand in case of another breakout. Thank you for being the absolute BEST!

I love sulphur. Where I live the chiggers are legend. I bought a 50 pound bag of elemental sulphur (very cheap) and then dust the area where we most frequently walk and we are good for the summer. Helps deter ticks as well. In fact, even mosquitoes don't want to be around you. I put some in an old cotton sock, and if we go walking around our property we pat ourselves down good with the loaded sock and while we may look a little dusty and smell a bit like sulphur, we will not suffer for 2 weeks scratching chigger bites. I actually don't mind the faint smell of sulphur, you get used to it.

I gave myself a bad irritation back in November, which makes me think maybe it's perioral dermatitis because these red bumps don't wanna leave.
I have somewhat protruding chin, which has a little fold under the lip. I was putting vaseline around my lips and such, but I guess I should have put it there some too. Long story short, got it really irritated while I was trying to up my tretinoin use to everyday. Skin friction in that area, sweat being trapped etc. I guess I have more sensitive areas on my face than regular folks lol.
Might as well try sulfur a bit.

Thanks for the informative video! I have seborrheic dermatitis and I find that the De La Cruz really helps. If I notice some flakes or redness around my nose, chin or nasolabial folds I apply some for about 5-8 minutes and rinse it off. At this point I could probably leave it on longer, but I always stayed on the side of caution because I have sensitive skin. I notice that it helps “exfoliate” the flakes and helps taming the seb derm flare up. I always follow up with a good moisturiser. I use it once or twice a week depending on how my skin is behaving. For me, I don’t notice the odour when it’s on my face but after I rinse I can smell it. It’s still worth it though for all the benefits :) I just thought I would post about my experience in case there’s anyone else here with seb derm!

I haven’t heard the term “short contact therapy” before but I often do it at the gym. I’ll put sulfur, vitamin c, retinoids etc on my skin, after I clean my face, and then sit in the steam room or sauna as I massage it into my face for about 20 minutes and then shower. I always take a towel with me to keep it out of my eye area. I don’t recommend doing this with benzoyl peroxide…trust me 🙂.

Works too for Benzoyl Peroxide Facial Washes, but since its in a wash off cleanser form, the method of delivery had always been meant for short contact therapy. Would also work for BP creams or ointments, but if you intend for short contact therapy anyway then its best to use a BP cleanser or wash instead.

It’s it good to use Grisi sulfur soap (also 10% )instead of the cream once or twice a day? It’s the only thing that ever worked for foliculitis on face and facial itching when the weather is hot.

Happy Friday Dr. Dray. 😊 While shopping at Walgreen's yesterday, I saw some brand new products from Eucerin. They've released a new facial cleanser and micellar water. I picked up the micellar water to try it out. I don't use micellar water all that often but it helps remove stubborn makeup like that one brand of mascara that cleanser won't take off without help. 👁
I really appreciate your single skin issue videos that go in depth on how to treat them. 🥰

I just ordered a three pack of Eucerins foot cream from Amazon. Much cheaper than the little tube of Dermatonics foot cream Dr Dray recommends. They feel very similar. Eucerin is so underrated!

I found a product called Nixoderm and juts started using it for pustules. I have papular pustular rosacea and I'm having a terrible breakout on my chin rn. Someone recommended Nixoderm and I purchased today. It has precipitated sulphur, benzoic acid, and salicylic acid. Was like $3. Excited to see how this works. After a few hours it already drew out pus that wasn't even visible. It burns but in a good way. I'm going to see how this works and if it doesn't I'm going to go fot the sulphur mask.

Thanks for devoting an entire video to this! Can this cause purging? I have rosacea and tried using this about a year ago and I had a terrible breakout of whiteheads/ pustules so stopped using it. I wasn’t sure if I was having a bad reaction or if it was something I just needed to get through to see results. Maybe I’ll try again.
