I had an 2009 R6 with 25k miles on it. I did sell because I was ready to upgrade. I was the only owner and the bike ran like a champ. I agree with you. 27k miles on your R1 is just getting started. Nice machine btw.
My 2008 Yamaha R1 had 50,000 miles on her and she ran damn good. I had her from new and changed oil every six months. Bike was so fast never touched 6th gear. She spent most of her time in 2nd gear in the city with the occasional 3rd and 4th when hitting the motorway.
That mileage is not an issue. These bikes can do 100k easy, as long as it isn’t ran in red line a lot. Main thing that is most important besides regular oil changes, make sure you keep the air filter CLEAN! I run Mobile 1 4T Racing Synthetic oil in mine. Also have K&N air filters . I like to have two, one fresh one ready to go if I don’t have time to clean and oil it at that moment. Lower mileage, older bikes are not always a good thing. Depends on how and what kind of environment it’s stored in. Outside in rain and high humidity can lead to electrical connection issues, etc. K&N filters are high flow type, that’s why oiling them is required to keep dust out of your engine.
There is a difference between road miles and race miles. So 27k race miles is indead high where as well maintained road miles it’s low. Just for people looking to buy a higher mileage bike to consider
dont pay no mind man, id much rather buy a buy with 30k miles and well maintained than a bike with 7k and treated like garbage mileage really has nothing to do with it at those numbers lol... nice bike man
Almost 29,000 on my 2002 R1. Did the valve check about 4,000 miles ago, all those sexy lil valves were perfectly in spec. And trust when I say she lived a VERY rough life before me.
I love the look of The 07 n 08s.I have 03 Hyabusa with 85K miles.A few little expected things wrong. But it sounds and rides like its brand new.Sport bike engines are made to be durable as expected...But I whouldnt buy anything from a twenty something year old that owned one for about two years.Hell any amount of years.
I’ve got an 2008 R1 with 31k and honestly it’s kind of high. I’ve had them blow with 20k. Especially with the way people ride them. I usually don’t buy one with over 30 but I got a killer deal.
Yeah the assumption is that it's been free revved to the moon numerous times and ridden hella hard and aggressive, I don't think that is high by my standards and with proper maintenance they will go to 80k unfortunately people crash them before that so we never see 80k guages
People are obsessed with mileage... wheather it be bikes or cars they're both the same thing.. an internal combustion engine, you change the oil and filter on a regular basis... dosen't matter what mileage is on it... it'll run till something mechanical actually fails as nothing lasts forever. All my cars have over 120,000 miles on them.. a B7 RS4, E60 M5 and a Golf mk4 diesel.
My 2005 5 valve genesis motor has 38k flawless miles. never get rid of her. no pussycat aides.. and still just as much power to weight as newer bikes. Mines not stock though 😏
The only reason thats considered high mileage is because most bikes dont get more than that because they end up wrapped around a tree. Its why harleys can do as many miles as a car and yet you never find high mileage sport bikes. They crash before anyone has a chance to put some decent miles on them.
The bike will run fine well over 25k+ miles but unfortunately 25xxxx is high mileage I have a 16 with just over 9k miles and that’s even considered “high mileage” when you apply the year. Not saying it’s not clean or won’t last but 27k is considered high mileage
Nah, a lot of miles means when you try and sell you won’t get what you’re asking for it!! 🤦♂️ #1 go to excuse for buyers not to pay you what you want for machine!!
27k miles on a liter bike is high. It’s like a dinosaur… that’s because most of the time they are wrecked before then. But one maintained and not wrecked no. Those motors are pretty resilient. You can get a ton of miles out of them even beating on them some,
LOL People are just plain stupid. Yamaha specifies the FIRST time you need to check the valve clearance is... 24,000 miles. I bought mine brand new, and almost 15 years later I'm still on the original engine, even though I have a spare one sitting on a stand- the OG just keeps running perfectly. Look at my videos. I ride it the way it was made to be ridden. I've used motul 300V since day one, and when I change the clutch, or open the valve cover, the internals are spotless. Quality bike, Yamaha builds them right.
I think it's not how many miles, it's how many owners and how many accidents. Dumbass riders might end up dumping their bikes 10 times in 20k miles. If the rider is good and keeps the bike maintained, I agree, you can really rack miles up no problem.

Pussycat waste of what the thing was made for
My CBR600RR had 71000 and it ran like a dream

I bought my 05 with 17k at 28k now runs like a dream love it
38k flawless miles on my 05
I have my 2001 r1 and still run like a champ its not about the yeat its about how you maintain it...

It really depends on how it is ridden.
Well said brother. I have a 08 R1 with about 32000 miles on it and it glides like a dream!
Would love to know how’s the bike doing now and how many miles she sitting on!! Lol

Change the oil often don't bang off limiter and you won't have a problem
27000 is low mileage
Looked after with regular oil and filter changes 150000 miles is no problem.

Well said
its made in japan and its not a v4 where you get vales check ever 7,500 miles to the tune 1,500 $...its a r-1 just broke in at 27k
8 years ago now how many miles on it
My 2005 5 valve genesis motor has 38k flawless miles. never get rid of her. no pussycat aides.. and still just as much power to weight as newer bikes. Mines not stock though 😏
Sjaak Lucassen took his R1 around the world to do 155,000 miles in 5 years.
I sold my 2007 r1, 2 years ago and it had 37000 miles om it, ran so smooth! No problem!😄
27000 is low, ride magazine wrote a column on a yamaha R6 with 180,000 miles, same engine.
38,000 and still going strong
Lol 27k is brand new. Quick valve adjustment just to make sure Intakes/ Exhaust are still well within spec and she'll run like new.
AWESOME REVIEW 💯❤️
I know this is not R1 related but my brothers 93 900 rr has 57890 miles on it and it still halls ass
This is how you score deals with bike owners who think 20k is high and have to lower the price .
My k6 gsxr 750 have 70k miles and it still run like the day i got it

Dude I bought a 2004 cbr600rr with 45000 miles and I owned it and put another 15 000 on it and it still goes
People think 15k miles is too many?
*Laughs whilst riding away on my CB500 with 50,000 miles that still runs like a dream
It's not basically just hitting the break in period

That chain tho.....
Facts !!!🏁🏁🏁
That bike alrdy lived it’s life .that’s like 270k miles
The best reply to some guys over there. Uneducated 😂
Mine has 20k well maintained with mods and still runs great
I have about 60k on mine. Runs like a dream.
My bmw s1k has 42k miles and runs perfect. Nothing wrong with miles, just means youre not scared to ride it

Got mine at 15K miles and had to a complete engine rebuild not even 1000 miles later!!!
Huh why?? What happened? I'd like to know, thanks 😃

Nick Sanders Agrees
bike will last a long time, but you need to change the tires.
i own a 2008 R1
Sold my zx10 with 120000 on it ran like day 1
If you keep your service records is ez to sell a bike but if you don't well good luck
Yeah thats for the people who think their shit dont stink, my S1000 has over 23k she hasnt given me any problems since i got her in 2020

IDK about the mileage, but from the shaky camera I'd guess you only just stopped riding it. :>)
30K ON A 2012 YAMAHA R1 IT WILL STILL DO 170
😂😂😂 "because it's not." You're special 😂😂😂
I no longer have this bike haha... actually forgot about this video lmao...
I have a 2017 zx10 now... much much better choice
@@MitEclipse91 Better choice? Could you elaborate, please?
Kawasaki Concours gets +60k miles
Your friends probably don't live in California where riding is a daily thing for commuting.
When I bought my first bike. A 2005 R1. It had 33,500 KM. That was some time ago. She still runs great today.
27k is some decently high mileage for a bike. That being said a r1 could easily go another 30k before needing anything. Motorcycles engines are simple
High miles that bro
That is nothing not high Mike at all
You’ve only got another 10k miles max… that is high mileage bro
