Man, you compared the liter bike's weight to the 600's weight and said this a cons? You should try newer R1s like the 09-14 or 15-18, 07-08 is so much lighter
I currently own a 2008 r1. I have to totally disagree with your Cons. I guess you haven’t had much experience with litre bikes. Here are my takes from your comments. Weight- it is still the lightest litre bike in the market. In fact it’s lighter then the 2015 Gen. Ecu flash will make your idle smoother which is totally opposite of what you are saying. Gas mileage- it’s not great if you’re commuting in heavy traffic. 600cc has way better mileage when you’re doing stop and go. Looks wise I think it’s a design that will never look old that’s why they are holding their value. True Cons in my opinion: Not a lot of low end power as compared to other litre bikes Under tail exhaust can cook your balls in summer. Aftermarket exhausts are super expensive.
Sher Mast Zafar So I meant that the the ecu flash makes the bike smoother when it comes to the throttle response. It’s less jerky. However it definitely makes idling rough and I can send you a picture of the company website that I used that flashed the ecu. They themselves warned me that this would occur
I have an ecu flash. The bike idles rough on cold start then levels out. Thats not a universal problem with them. Im 6'2 195, the bike is fairly easy to move with it off. It all depends on you. Now lifting the rear end on a rear wheel stand is a little tough. I removed all the plastic around the exhaust piping ill tell you the heat from exhaust in Florida summers sitting at a redlight is brutal. But ill suffer through that because it looks great. I have the undertail akrapovic dual exhaust. HID conversion is a must, ecu flash, power commander, shorty levers and youre good to go!
Inspite of the cons I will still get the sick deal being offered to me, the 08 R1 has only a few mileage(factory overruns), my other option is an 07 CBR1000RR, but I think R1's are cooler, it's a sportsbike those are natural issues, otherwise we can just get a scooter and still have complaints about that😉
If you think this bike is heavy the 09+ r1 is about 50lbs heavier. And has a lower power to weight ratio. This is the faster r1 in a straight line. The crossplane crank was made to increase traction in a turn, which it does great and wins in every roadracing series. But for a literbike its slow in a straight line. This gen r1 is faster. 180hp and 177 kg, compares to 190-200 hp and 206 kg. So a newer r1 is technically slower.
You don't know though.. could just be the exhaust too that's causing rough idle. The ecu needs to be retuned after adding an exhaust like that so could have bad air fuel mixture
Thanks man. I have a cruiser and this is a huge step for me. But driving descent at the beginning will be no problem. Power to weight ratio... 1:1. 1000hp per ton!!! First off, that's a beautiful bike. I recently bought an black $ red 03 R1 w only 10k miles on it, and the full fluids weight is actually 20 lbs lighter than my previous CBR600f3. The R1 is a 998 cc motor in a 600cc bike sized frame. My 03 is 420 lbs wet. While my CBR600F3 was 440 lbs wet. Plus, if your bike feels too heavy you could always do a few weight saving things, like 1st removing smog equipment and putting headers that don't have an EXUP valve box on them. I hear that box is very heavy. I just got a Hindle full system and will be putting it on in a few weeks, as well as removing the smog and installing a PC V piggyback ecu that same day. I'll let you know how much weight that saves.

However, I'm getting up there in my 40s, and those Mt10 are starting to look really good.
@@Totes_ma_Goat you should probably go for it
Just got news my waterpump on my 04 is leaking and i have to change it
That sucks as i jus did over the notorious upgrade on the alternator and service my bile thinking i was go to go.
I currently own this bike
Like this exact bike ?
no the 0-60 time is almost the same, significant difference between 600's is after 80mph. Also the weight is 25lbs more than an R6 thats like less than tank fuel weight.
We want merch
It’s coming 😂
Since when is that R1 heavy? Being the bikes I’ve driven the R1 is very light. I own an 05 myself.
Maybe I’m just not strong enough 😂
Why you gonna compare a R1 to CBR6 or R6?
Looks wise good looking bike but engine and riding perspective the heats so much stops anywhere at 99 degree celcius when it comes to 70 degree Celsius we have to wait to cold it down anywhere heating problem is so much in this bike you can feel the heat in traffic it's great bike but some thinks it's a problem some thinks it's how R1 is built and it's is uniqueness 😀😀
My good man where the fuck did you go, I need more content.
I sold the bike. Still waiting to buy a new one
@@omarsam5276 Covid19 obviously hasn't helped the situation unfortunately :(
Dude you primarily commute to school and a R6 wasn’t enough? Lol that’s hilarious.
A 600cc supersport racebike is boring? I guess you've never been to a race track.
Agree he’s the type to race in a straight line and thinks the r6 sucks cuz he smoked him w his r1 lol
Danny A. What’s the R6 like? I’m torn between the R6 & R1 it’s not going to be an every day bike (as got car) and want it for hacking about with the boys on the B rounds, round the town, some light motorway trips to get to other places but not long trips, want something that’s easy to Chuck about and something with power from low rmp to high rpm ?
AMAZING SO FANTASTIC SO BOMBASTIC ❤️💯
Can you share how much did you paid thank you
