  • POV Test ride and review of the 2007 Yamaha R1. This R1 was made before the crossplane technology in 2009, hence the sound. The bike is ridden extremely fast in Mexico and on the streets of Mexico while giving impressions are given. 150 horsepower to the rear wheels*
Filmed in Mexico. Filmed on the GoPro Hero 3+ Black.

I adore my '07 R1. I also own an '01 but absolutely prefer the '07. I think the styling, power, and sound make it one of the best years for Yamaha liter bikes. 2nd gear on that bike is pure insanity, power wheelies for days.

He raises the rpm's up high in a certain gear.. did it a couple time in 1st gear and a couple in 2nd gear. then once he gets high in the rpms he just rolls off the throttle instead of changing to a higher gear. You don't have to red line it in every gear before shifting. He nearly red lined it (maxed out the rpms), and then proceeded to not shift

Factory indicates for the 07/08 R1 180 HP@crankshaft, 189HP with ram-air, Euro 95 min. octane fuel config. Mine reaches 295 km/h indicated on 5th gear @ redline (unrestricted autobahn/highway), with one gear still to go, stock config. Awesome engine after 9000 rpm, great brakes and ride position not too much "racing", although my 2001 R1 had more grunt on low/medium revs.

Hey man, amazing video. This is the bike that I've been looking for. Cause the 07-08 R1 models are like the only ones that has 4 valves per cyl with flatplane crank right? Like they're the only models with same configuration as the other Japanese bikes. Unlike the 06 and older that has 5 valves/cyl while the 09 and new ones has a crossplane crank. Could you give me more details on where I could possibly spot an 07-08 R1. That particular model is the sweetspot of the R1s.

Sorry man, stick with smaller bikes, you do not need to keep liters revved up so much, the torque they provide makes that kind of riding pointless and stupid. Also, the review mentioned nothing of interest, flick able, nimble and quick are a given on an R1. You want to mention the build quality of that model, how would it feel as an everyday bike, how pretty it is, features and do some research on common problems plagueing that particular model. You did not even do a walk around. . Seriously. For someone like me in the market of buying one, we want to see how it looks. First impressions or styling is one of the main factors when choosing the next ride, other factors is just garnishing. All you did is take us for a ride on a bike that begged you to get the hell off it.

IF MOTO THEN 1 UP 5 DOWN. Air in the tires??? Were they flat??? Word of the day: Flickable- the thing I don't do to the gear shifter

Nick Harwood he should have had a sticker with the number 1 stuck on the dash. Then he could have used that as a gear indicator, oh well, finding neutral would be a bitch but other than that the other gears would never be called for i am sure. If I was his friend I would be still making amends with the bike and apologising for putting it through all that torture.

My thunderace is about 145 bhp and the 4c8 hammers it after 8k rpm. Also you really need to work on your gear changing, these bikes shift instantly no need to clutch up the box just back the power off and click up, split second job. I do track days and I ride all year round ( even in winter if pavement is dry). If you do regular oil changes, air filter maintenance, spark plugs and the valve adjustments every 20k miles it will run like a champ. zero issues. I finally needed to buy a new cam chain tensioner. I have 17.5k miles. I did have an idle issue if you google it you will see. Just needed the spark plugs replaced and its running like a champ. most of them have an ecu issue where it has a lag in 2nd gear at 50mph.

I havent heard of valve issues with 07s. The valve train on any yamaha is very loud like a toyota. My mechanic who was a yamaha tech said r6s came with very tight valves and if they had been commuted on the ecu tended to make them run lean burning out exhaust valves

They are literally made to race where you have it at the top of the tacho at all times.
If it can't handle a few pulls it would never survive a track day
