Ronnie Drew with Pat Kenny on The Late Late Show from 2005. Ronnie talks about his one man show at Andrews Lane Theatre with Mike Hanrahan. Plus interview from TV3 from 2004
I always wanted Ronnie Drew's beard and voice. Well, I'm getting near to the first one at least. A fantastic bloke and it still upsets me a bit to know that I will never meet the fella.
Very beautiful eyes even in black&white photographs they shine through.WoW married 40 years magic.Did Ronnie have a small role on the film Ryan's Daughter?????
The influence of television has changed the way Irish people speak. I never said: Where's my shirt. That is not Hiberno English, our mother tongue.. I Used to say Where's me shirt. In my early 70's I find meself speaking Hiberno English again. I gave my television away year ago and not longer listen to the radio. I get real news on a few UA-cam channels like Mahyar Tousi who is attracting more viewers than the BBC in England.
I really miss the eloquent turn of a phrase that Ronnie mentions. When going back and looking at the way people spoke it seems we have lost the spark of something important.
Ten years next year. A decade without that voice.
