- This is my 2nd tribute to the late great David Thomas Jones. I have included his rare LAST song, Written in My Heart, as it was so fitting. I have been a huge fan all my life and I feel this is the least I can do for a man who meant so very much to me. I will always adore him and miss him. Enjoy!
I'm 66 years old soon. Same age as Davy when he passed away. Loved him since 1966.
When he passed away I just busted out crying. My heart was broken. I loved The Monkees and of course Davy.

Me too. I'm a huge fan of the Monkees (first generation) and with everything I was going through at the time, it all just came out again. I literally had wept. A horrible time in my life.
I was living in Hawaii working as a home health Rn when i met Chip Douglas, the producer of The Monkees first album Daydream Believer. I was taking care of Chips mother who lived on the North Shore of Oahu. After she died, Chip and his sister told me when i wanted to come to Hawaii again i could stay in her house. After a year or so i called them and told them i was coming back to Hawaii for a visit and bringing my new husband with me. Chip said that Davey and his girlfriend were staying in the house as he was performing in Honolulu but that they were leaving the day after we arrived in Hawaii and would we mind sharing the house for a day. I was like Are you kidding? So we arrive in Hawaii and our friend does not come to pick us up(she was always late) We got on a bus up to the nort shore but the bus stopped about 10 miles from the north shore. So i called Davey and he said " Dont worry I will be right down to pick you up." He arrives about 20 minutes later and on the way back he invites us to dinner. We have dinner and start home then he stops at 7-11 for a minute. The next morning we get up and Davy had bought food for breakfast for us knowing we had no food. He was one of the sweetest people i have ever met and it was genuine. The next day we shot pictures on the beach by the house and Davy sang to us. One of my best memories ever.

The Monkees' first album was titled The Monkees. Chip did not produce that album. He did produce their third and fourth albums.

Thank you for posting this. I too was madly in love with Davy. I was 13 when they cane on TV in 1966. I am now 66 years old and still love the Monkees. God bless Davy and Peter they are singing in Heaven now together.

I'm a 1973 girl, I was an ugly, bullied geek in Jr HS. But listening to the songs of my first real crush, and posters of the Monkees helped me thru that horrible, awkward time. Praying to meet Davy Jones in Heaven someday,

This made me cry. I was 13 when the Monkees aired their show in 1966, never missed a show. I loved them so much and Davy was my favorite. He is so gorgeous and I wanted to marry him like the rest of us when I was legal age. My parents GOD bless them always smiled when they saw me enjoy their show. I wish I could of met him. He is missed to this very day by all of us. Every time I watch the shows on DVD and listen to his songs brings so much of my childhood. It doesn't seem possible he is gone and almost 2 years. He will be forever in my heart through his songs, DVDS and watching him on you tube. I am 60 now and the generation back then was care free nothing to worry and happy. Davy thank you for your memories and we love you and you will never ever be forgotten honey. Also Happy Birthday my darling Dec. 30th and young 68 and I know you are singing in heaven and performing many concerts. Miss you so much Davy and thankful this beautiful video brought you alive to us like you never left. Merry Christmas Davy and sing those beautiful Christmas songs.

Since you both loved horses, this meant you had something in common. Did you hear the song, that Peter Noone, Micky Dolenz, and David Cassidy sang to honor your memory? They sang Daydream Believer together on a memorial video. It was quite touching to hear it. Then shortly after, David Cassidy joined you in Heaven. I know you guys can look in on us here on Earth. I hope e you can see we are mourning your death. I hope my husband, my cousins, and three boyfriend's got to meet you in Heaven. They were all fans of yours. Rest in peace. Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith. In December, I emailed Micky Dolenz and told him that I really enjoyed getting to see him and Mike Nesmith at the Texas Trust CU theater in October.
I grew up watching the monkees show my favorite always was Davy Jones No.1 I like his looks his music. I bet he in heaven singing with Peter Tork And Michael Nesmith.

2012 was a really bad year, so many lost that year & a really rough one for me, I lost my sweet, funny, hard working father on Jan. 6, on his parents, my grandparents anniversary, he was 84. So I guess he joined my Grandparents in Heaven on their anniversary & all the rest of the family that had gone on before him. But then the loss was just beginning, we lost Davy Jones, Robin Gibb, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Dick Clark, Etta James, Bob Welsh, Richard Dawson, Larry Hagman, Sherman Hensley, Robert Hedges, Ron Pallillo, Jonathan Frid & painter of light Thomas Kinkaid ( my favorite painter of all time ) & so many others. But I remember the music world seemed to get hit hard, lost some of my favorite singers, heart throbs, actors, T V Hosts & my favorite painter, along with

Written in my heart - THAT'S the song that should have been included on the Good Times album (or something like this - something from the final years). Fantastic record but they missed the boat by including Love to Love. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the album!!! AT ALL!! This is one of the best recordings from him I've heard!!
I love you forever - I know the version that's on the Pool It! Album but this sounds different... better. Or maybe it's the same version and my mind is playing tricks on me.
I know I'm going to get criticized on this but David is the one of the Monkees that really didn't get a chance to live up to his potential in my opinion. Mickey is now recognized as one of the best vocalists of his generation; Mike has always had the respect of his peers and the Peter tracks released over the years have garnered much praise. Some manager pushed David into singing syrupy ballads and that's where that stayed. I think that's unfortunate. His foundation is in musical theater and Broadway. He deserved to do more of that. Plus, he can really rock the house when called upon to do so. I think Every Step of the Way from, again, Pool It! is in the top 5 of his best recordings ever. I would have loved to have seen him do more of those things. Just sayin'!

I recall there was a Day Jones Tribute video on UA-cam that was made before Davy's death. It was like this one with lots of rare and/or old photos of him and it had a song in the background which I think was called "A Reason To Stay Up All Night" by Emma Wallace. I can't find it now. Anyone know where it is?
