4 DAYS IN AVEBURY - Come with me on a weekend trip to The Farm at Avebury in Avebury where we spend the weekend going on countryside walks, drinks and food at the local pub, seeing the farm animals and cooking delicious local food.

Our trip started on Thursday night when we set out from London for the 2 hour ish drive to Avebury. It was pretty much straight on the motorway, a really smooth and enjoyable drive. Georgia and I rented a car via Virtuo and the collection and drop off was seamless so will 100% do that again in the future. It’s nice as it looks like a normal car and doesn’t scream “I rented this!!” which I prefer. You can choose from inexpensive manual cars all the way up to automatic, really fancy cars.
When we got in on Thursday evening, we made beef bourguignon which the lovely owners of The Farm at Avebury had left for us in our stable (we pre-ordered with them before our arrival so it would be there for us). We brought some supermarket pasta to have with it. Then it was off to bed.
The stable we were staying in is called Long Barrow and sleeps 4 but because there were just two of us, we each got our own bedroom and bathroom which was a lovely treat. The bathroom upstairs has a beautiful bathtub, pink sink and skylight which was heavenly when getting ready and relaxing.
On Friday morning, we got up and went on a walk before work. Georgia was working on Friday during the day, so I made myself breakfast after our walk and then had a little bath and read my book on my Kindle. It was heavenly! For lunch, we popped out to Marlborough which is a short 15-20 min drive away to pick up some lunch bits and dinner items for the following evening. We had a mooch quickly round the shops and I bought myself a new Jellycat (sushi!!) as a memorable keepsake for the weekend and we headed back.
For Friday lunch, I filmed a video of the recipe (linked at the top) so we ate that. It was a roasted garlic mash which I made with local milk and local Avebury oil. We had sausages which are from The Farm at Avebury, as local as you can get! And then topped it with some roasted onions which were delicious and some gravy (from the supermarket).
In the evening, we clocked off work and headed to the local pub (across the road) for a drink and some dinner.
On Saturday, we attended a Wim Hof workshop with Andy, a Wim Hof method teacher. We practised breathwork, learned about the benefits of ice baths, and then participated in our own 2 minute long ice bath! It was an amazing, regenerative morning and so lovely to meet people from all walks of life who had come with the same interest in trying it out.
We went on a walk later in the afternoon around Avebury and popped into town for a drink at the pub.
For dinner, I made us a gorgeous cote du boeuf steak which was from The Farm at Avebury, along with some supermarket sides: celeriac remoulade, coleslaw, butterhead salad and some fries. We had fancy condiments and shared some Sauvignon Blanc. We ended the night with some games! Playing Guess Who was like a throwback to being a kid again, it was such a wholesome way to end the evening.
On Sunday, we headed to Windsor for a little walk and a roast dinner before heading back to London to return the car and head home. It was the perfect relaxing, food-filled, back to nature weekend.
