  • This is my review on my metal g shock square after 1 year of use! Sorry for the rendering errors near the end of the video, I tried to re-render that part many times but it still wouldn't work, and Vegas Pro 18 keeps crashing on me. I need a new video editing software

    Around 15:40 the video has rendering problems. It was supposed to be a few images of me wearing the metal G over the past year in different situations and attire like a suit for a job interview or in the snow during a blizzard. It's a very versatile watch ⌚️

    I like your attitude of embracing the inevitable scratches and dings that come with wearing the watch all the time. Too many people try too hard to keep their watch in "pristine, like new" condition, perhaps because they expect to sell it someday. But if they do this, they rob themselves of the full experience of wearing it, and don't get to enjoy it nearly so much.

    I have a wrist full of watches and some of my favorites are these square G shocks. This one to me in my collection is the holy grail to the squares I currently own. Great watch. I have the same model in black. I wore it everyday for the past 3 years. It has performed perfectly. The only grip I have is the wobbly bracelet and clasp. GSHOCK should have use a pin/collar system for better bracelet rigidity. Also, I wish CASIO would make the light stay on while we are using the functions. (during low light condition)

    Great video. Mine had issues holding charge and would rarely receive signal, flashing low bat even after positioned in direct sunlight for days. I sent it for warranty and they replaced the module. Now it's always fully charged and always shows "rcvd". No doubt the first module was iffy. I have the GMW-B5000-1, steel with resin strap, purchased March 2020 as a pandemic watch. I probably wear it more than anything else. Thank you and big love from Detroit

    I got the GMWB5000-1 a few months ago (metal square with resin strap) and was wondering how it would hold up over time, so I am glad to see that it is withstanding the daily wear very well, as any G-Shock should!. I do agree with you that they could have used the sapphire crystal (in fact, I believe the titanium version uses it), and the end-links being inflexible is annoying (apparently they wanted to create some gaps on the wrist for ventilation purpose, but I am not sure). I use the bluetooth sync function extensively, and use it as the "master clock" for all the other watches and clocks in the house. Great video and thanks for the information!

    It is a timeless (no pun intended) watch, i've had it on my wrist for a while and there are no down sides. never been into the g-shock scene, always thought they were way to big for comfort, and some of them are, but......while deciding what watch to buy, for a reasenable price, looking at Seiko, Timex, and other brands, i guess this is the one that jumpt the que. And yeah, just wear it, wtf, thats the point of a watch. scratch it, work it, try to destroy it even, won't work, it's a shock. I love it.

    So many people saying this model has an identity problem. I totally disagree. Sure, it’s more expensive because it’s a big chunk of stainless steel with some decent finishing…but it’s a G-Shock! Put it on and enjoy knowing it can take a beating. If people want to baby it, that’s cool too. I still don’t think it departs from the philosophy of the brand that we all love. I thought your take was spot-on.

    If you use a small brillo pad (the green side of a sponge) you can actually buff out like 90% of the scratches on the brushed parts. It did it to mine and it looks like new again!
    Just be careful you dont brush over the polished parts, and maybe you could put some masking tape on the polished parts of the case to prevent this.

  • @SuperNovaRider
    @SuperNovaRider Рік тому +2

    You can find various tests online, that prove, that you'll destroy your G-Shocks metal case before or when actually shattering the sapphire glass (not to mention your arm).
    And the Casio engineers are pros, they know that better than anyone else.
    So the decision to use the cheaper glass is most likely win-margin/profit oriented. Since, at the end of the day, they make great watches, but they're still trying to earn money.

The titanium version has a nicer finish, but it’s almost too light, I didn’t like the polished bezel, and it had some sharp edges on the bracelet and clasp. The fact that you have absolutely zero damage to the crystal glass means that it is the correct choice. The sapphire glass models are closet queens for the most part, so while they may be more immune to scratching, they probably will never be exposed to any abuse anyway.

    Just a few days old. I have the basic resin square made in China for over a year now. Got this new GMW-B5000 because I like steel wristwatches, and also these sqaure casios fit my wrist very well. I usually have problems fitting most pieces due to the anatomy of my wrist. What I like about B5000: the looks, legibility is much better than DW5600E-1V, adjustability of metal bracelet and radio-controlled accuracy. I don't mind the watch is heavy while it fits well on my arm. What I am not so fond of: flimsiness of the bracelet. I do not mind it per se, but there are reviewers reporting the bracelet snap loose due to low-quality spring bars that hold segments in place, although those were with people wearing their watches tightly.

    I’ve owned a metal G-Shock Square in the past and it was a scratch magnet. If you want a watch you can beat up on, get the rubber or resin version and save your money. That’s the version that I currently own and it’s good for doing work around the house or garage. If I’m going out and want to look good, I’ll wear one of my dress watches - usually a Rolex or an Omega. When I accidentally scuffed up my Rolex Oyster Perpetual, I took it to a jeweler and had it professionally polished. A week later when I picked it up, it looked like a brand new watch. Unfortunately, this is not cost effective with a metal G-Shock Square. The cost of having it professionally polished is almost half the price of the watch. I learned this the hard way. : - (. Rs

    I have the SKMEI "homage" to this and it cost me like $23. Stainless steel and it feels like it. I am not saying this to criticize the steel G, but my idea is buy the SKMEI first and see if you like it. If you do, get the steel G. If you don't like it you saved $400.

    Made in Japan sadly doesn't mean anything. They can call it Made in Japan when it is made in China, as long as there is a Japanese supervisor.

    • @thekaydubz
      @thekaydubz  Рік тому +2

      I find it hard to believe they can call it made in japan just because the supervisor is japanese haha. They make watches in China and Thailand that's true, I've had some that were made in Thailand. I've read before that their premium line, including the metal G, is made in the Yamagata factory in japan.
      At the very least, even if 100% of their parts aren't sourced from Japan, i believe they would have to assemble it Japan to say Made in Japan

    The "dislike" of Bluetooth stems from a fear of it being the first tech to become obsolete. I, and I suppose many, have G-Shocks, Pathfinders, Pro-Trek watches with radio sync and solar going on decades.
    Like with a mechanical watch, the autonomy is appealing to many :)
    Anyways, I ordered one like yours and expect it sometime late February :)
