This review is what I've been looking for. I'm very sensitive of how the mouse would sound. I'm glad you put that input while other big YT channels didn't review it.
I'm still using my set of MX1000's from 10 years ago . I have three of them and they all still work great. You can even get replacement batteries for them.
Mouse review with a comparison with similar, but older models (all of which can still be bought) - genius. I wish all reviews were this good - great job!
Really nice review! I’m looking for a new mouse and watched a lot of mouse reviews lately, but this is probably the best so far, you really touch key aspects.
Thnx for verifying the form factor. Bought the 3 but the 2s is waaaaay more comfortable to hold. The ergonomics just feel like a step back. Grip wise and reachability of the buttons. Time to return it and stick to the old
Thanks for the review! You covered every aspect i would like to know! I have one original MX, just ordered an used MX2s for my son (good deal, half the price of the MX 3), i think i made a wise decision by saving some money with the previous model! I just subscribed to your channel! wish you a great week!!! :)
Dude I’m so happy I keep finding your videos. You do a great job explaining things, & it seems like we have very similar taste in products! I have the MX 1 & 2 mice.
I literally returned the MX 3 because of how narrow it is. I just went back to my MX2 and love the wideness of it. It hurts after 8+ hrs of doing Architectural stuff. Trust me when I say this but you spend that many hours constantly for a while and see how long you last in my industry 🙅🏻♂️
Since you do architectural stuff, What do you think about the track ball mices like elecom m-ht1drbk? Are they any good? Or I should just go with mx master 2s?
I'm in a complicated position since on one hand I love how this mouse feels, and the smoothness of the wheel (similar to the MX Revolution) is beautiful... but I don't like that the mouse is narrow since I have to make an effort so that my ring and little fingers don't rub against the surface. I think Logitech made a mistake in designing the right side of the MX Master 3.
very nice - I buy fr myself MX 2S and As I sow this video .... it relay shows me the benefits of 2S over 3 .. because my heand is too large for narrow mouse .... :) thank you for good presentation
You do realize that you're training new muscles which means it takes time to get used to it. A moment is not like shoes, which should feel comfortable from the moment you put them one. If you have to break-in shoes, that's never a good sign.
I love everything about the MX Master 3! My only gripe is how high the slope is, it makes using it for long periods of time unbearable. I'm wondering if other people have this issue and if the MX Master 2S is more comfortable in this regard? I really don't wanna give this style of mouse up...because aside from this, it's the best mouse I've ever used! The magnetic scroll wheel is amazing and having that side scroll is a game changer.
The feel of the scroll wheel has definitely been improved, but the actual functionality is completely broken. Just returned mine today as the scroll wheel was not registering all the steps, so it felt really inconsistent and unreliable. Here you can see the issue: ua-cam.com/video/gfIDI1qiurc/v-deo.html
Thanks SuprUsr Stan. Well done. I've had the MX2 for a year and just experienced the infamous "stuck gesture" button issue and had to crack it open and loosen the screws on the button PCB to give it enough play. Perhaps the redesign of the "thumb button" (aka gesture button) is to address this problem. The MX2 is a great mouse with only 2 downsides. After a while, the stuck gesture button plus the scroll wheel in free spin mode tends to move too easily and just moving the mouse sometimes will jiggle the wheel. I don't like the ratchet sound, it drives me nuts hearing it. So maybe the new magnetic scroll wheel on the 3 will be better. I just don't like getting only a year out of a $70 mouse.
New sub for you. I am really surprised and glad that you go in so much detail into the differences even with the textures. The only complain is that you showcased the sound differences on the scroll wheel, the main buttons, but not the side buttons, and that is what I am here for cuz those side buttons do seem quite mushy compare to the older versions, which is biggest concern for if I should go for 3 or 2S since I do use side buttons a lot.
3 for sure. On the 1 and 2s the side buttons or so scrunched up it’s not worth using. I’m looking into the 3 because the 2 side buttons will actually be useful.
Great review and very comprehensive! One thing I was surprised you didn't mention though was the side scroll wheel, and how it seems to be situated much further from your thumb's natural resting position (eg. at 12:44) on the new Master 3, in a way that it seems like your thumb needs to leave the side grip to reach it whereas the older models could be scrolled while still gripping the mouse. Have you encountered this problem or is it mostly a superficial change?
To be honest, I don’t use the side scroll that often, but when I do, I can scroll with my the side of my thumb. It’s right next to the forward backward button so it’s really not much more of a reach.
Great and very helpful review. I was wondering which version to buy. You helped me make my decision. Moving from the MX Performance, I found a very good deal on the first MX master model, so wil go for it. Thanks to you, i WILL DO IT knowing exactely what I will get.
Using the MX Keys and the Master 3 for some days now. Coming from a cheap system I used several years. I can say it´s a dream:-) By the way...nice video!
I just bought this MX Master 3 a week ago. Kindly note some basic issues I noticed with this mouse which you realise after 2-3 days use. The ergonomics are not as good as MX2. It gave me pain in my little finger after only 3 days of use. You have to rest the little finger on mousepad and the hold is not really good. Also, the scroll wheel skips scroll in between randomly. I was excited after seeing some reviews. But not very happy with the usage now. I owned Steelseries Ikari earlier, and sadly the mouse is discontinued now. It had the best ergonomics a mouse can have. I think Logitech really needs to improve in their mouse ergonomics designs..atleast this one.
Akx Malik I’m confused with the 3 and the 2s. How’s the 2s for you? Why you didn’t like the 3? I’ve been using a magic mouse 2 for a while and it now keeps on getting disconnected.
I noticed it immediately when I got the MX Masters 3, the scroll wheel mechanism is just a bring-back from the good old MX Revolution. I was really disappointed that they changed it to mechanical in the MX/MX Masters, good thing they've brought it back =)
I had the MX Revolution (in fact it's still around) and it really felt very similar to the Master 3 wheel. I didn't remember that that mouse was already using electromagnet technology. What a great mouse that was! In fact, I would still be using the Revolution if it weren't for the fact that its battery died and I didn't bother to get it a new one.
@@Aquiles-WARS If I remember correctly the MX Revolution uses a chargeable AA battery, that was the other thing I loved about it. I went through two of the MX Revolution when the left click button stopped working...I don't know why since I don't do anything more with it other than web browsing, word/excel/powerpoint. But all in all, personally I think it's the best mouse in the MX line in terms of scroll wheel, shape/size, and button positions, and I've used all of the MXs.
@@crybabyteamo My MX Revolution didn't have a rechargeable AA battery (hopefully!) but an internal rectangular one, which I could access until I opened the mouse because it didn't take any more charge. I probably found that battery on ebay, the problem is that when I open the mouse I hurt the small bases that make the mouse slide on the surface. In fact, I don't like mouses with internal batteries for that experience. I wish the MX Master 2s and 3 had an interchangeable AA battery compartment. And I agree with you, the MX Revolution has been the best in those areas you mention. The only thing against it was the horizontal wheel, but as I hardly ever use it, I didn't mind.
@@Aquiles-WARS Oops yeah I mixed up the battery with the performance MX that came after the Revolution...gone through too many generations. I agree, the horizontal wheel was kind of useless as it springs back. Those good old days!
Nice informative video, but I wish you would have written down what you wanted to say, key points, details, etc, and rehearse it before filming, so you don't have to think what you want to say WHILE you are filming, because there are a lot of silences and pauses in the video.
You literally spent one minute and four seconds to tell us how you got your hands on the product, where the box was and what feel and form the box has....... Btw, the intro it's really good and it makes sense to have that especially on a new channel.
Thanks man , it worked ! And for people from India the screwdriver set is available on Flipkart named as Jackly square precision 32 Piece set for just 150 Rs.
I just bought the Master 3 and I think I'm gonna have to return it and keep using the older versions. The scroll wheel doesn't seem to be working correctly, and makes the mouse unusable IMO. Not sure if this is a defect or bad design choices.
I preferred the forward and backward buttons where they were. I just used the inside of my thumb rather than taking my thumb off the mouse... I rolled it up.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience with the MX Master 3 scrolling wheel, seemed to skip a few steps, was really annoying. So if I understood correctly the MX Master 2s doesn't use this new technology and the scroll is normal, correct? Thanks!
Great review. I agree with your assessment Mx3 is a great mouse but not worth the upgrade if you already have fully functioning mx2s. That being said the Mx3 can be found on Ebay for well under retail these days.
I'm a huge huge fan of the mx master serie but I won't be taking the 3 for a ride. I actually LOVED the fact the forward and back button were on top of each others and not the same as every other cheap mice. I used them the same way as you did with the side of the thumb. Also the narrower thing is really a downer, I was hoping they would do a bigger version, the S2 is a bit too small for me even if it's one of the biggest mice. Can we talk also about the horrible look ? First thing I said when I saw it was : damn it's so hugly ... it feel like a unrefined version of the old design.
I'm not a professional reviewer, but from my personal experience the quality of the 1 is better than the 2. I used the 1 for about 5 years, the 2 for about a day and returned it, hated the feel of the 2. The 3 I have now used for about 3 hours and its epic!
Definitely the best review I’ve seen so far. You got deep into the details of the ratcheting wheels, which I’ve had a hard time finding in other reviews. A question remains, does the wheel have the option for the user to change manually from smooth to ratchet by clicking on it? Otherwise, what’s the purpose of the wheel click?
If you work in Mechanical Engineering Design and use SolidWorks, the wheel click is essential for controlling the movement of objects you design in 3D space. Absolutely essential and we're always in the market for the mouse with the best scroll wheel! In other situation, for example in adobe reader, you can pan around a pdf document by holding down the wheel and moving the mouse instead of using the scroll wheels. The button just above the mouse is for switching the the scroll wheel from smooth to ratchet and thats how it should be.
I still use my MX2 and often find myself switching it between ratchet or smooth scrolling. Personally I like the button that lets you choose between the two options on the mouse of the MX2. I've got bigger hands so the width is appreciated for me. Good to see the differences though, helps me to see I'll stick with what I have. Also I'm poor so that limits me the most lol
Really wanted to know how it performed, as it's supposed be super precise compared to the old models. Also needed to know about button customisation. I have been using an MX Performance and got accustomed to using the left/right movement on the scroll wheel as back/forwards on Web browsers. Hoping suitable buttons on the new mouse for this very purpose.
Which keyboard is that .. actually I’m looking forward to buy a good gaming keyboard. And yes ur really doing great and sharing a detailed information. I like that
the wheels themselves on MX3 was worth the upgrade! I also feel the right/left main button clicks are a tad gentler and not as loud, which was another plus!
i need this mouse for reading documents and software work (i.e. 3D modelling....). is Mx3 is worth to pay extra 40$ from Mx2? I like the free spin from rachete, can i apply free spin in MX2?
Do you need the thumb wheel? If you don't need the secondary school wheel, I highly recommend you consider buying the MX Anywhere 2s. You can easily switch between ratchet and free spin by deep pressing the scroll wheel. The scroll wheel can also tilt left and right giving you two extra buttons, which I find very useful for switching between desktops.
Any issues with the scroll wheel causing erratic behavior on screen? There seems to be a subculture of users who hate this mouse because they say the screen jumps in the opposite direction after stopping scrolling or scrolls two notches when they turn it one, or doesn't respond for brief moments. Any comments? Did they get lemons?
When you do a good job out of the box. A good thing when you think about it since your purchase doesn't become obsolete a year after you buy it. Just think Apple.
My biggest gripe with the MX 2 is that the rubber on the scroll wheel is sensitive and after a few years of use has become a gross gooey mess. Looks like the new version will stay fresh for longer with those all metal wheels
Your review is really good. You noticed the difference in shapes compared to MX Master 2S. I feel pain in little finger using MX Master 3 after 3 days usage. Did you face the same problem? Any solutions?
16-minute review and not a single click on the damn left/right mouse buttons. Come on, man, people want to know how noisy the clicks are. Are they the same as MX2/MX1?
I honestly don't understand why we still have loud, clicky office mice in 2019. With the possible exception of gamers, who the hell needs to hear those annoying clicks all day long? Such a shame that a premium product like this is so loud.
@@Balconetti Yeah im with you, i had to break warranty and open mine to silence those buggers. I don´t get it, they have the Logitech 220 which is marketed as a SILENT mouse. Why not just put the same triggers on MX Master?
Have you tried the G502 Lightspeed? I'm looking for a new wireless mouse and have use for like 6 years the G502 Core Spectrum, and then the 2nd gen of the G502, I really love that mouse, but reading some reviews about the G502 Lightspeed I'm not convinced, maybe the MX Master 3 is a huge upgrade for me, besides of being a gaming mouse I never play too much, not a deal breaker for me not being a gaming mouse the MX M3, maybe I rely too much in my muscle memory and trying to buy the G502 LS hahah, but what are your thoughts? I work like 10 hours per day in my computer. Battery life is other concern, only 60 hours for the G502 vs. 70 days... but what do you think? I really enjoyed your video
Sick mice's , all of them, Logitech is the best ergonomics mice's I ever used. I felt the difference after I bought several cheap mice's. The only one thing that stops me from buying is unknown type of switchers , its not mechanical means possible double clicks in a future. Overpriced, but its so comfortable mice's
There are two MX 2s in this video. The MX 1 is different by quite a margin. Not sure why he's saying there is a 1 there. I have all three and the 1 is actually the most comfortable for me, but it lacks features. You can tell an MX 1 by the shape and the forward and back buttons. They're much closer to the MX3 and much better than the MX2. It also has a smooth body and smoother lines.
I like the MX Master 3 but the position will hurt the writs with larger hand sizes (the mouse literally encourages the wrist to go into the ground. The 1st design for me was great, the 2nd not so good & then this company just keeps changing their form without providing variety. I may be leaving these great mice because of it.
The side scroll wheel does not work to increase or decrease the brush size in Photoshop CC 2021. I bought the mouse for this functionality and now I am returning it. For something that costs £89 I expected it to work as advertised. I don't know if it is an Adobe issue or a Logi issue.
Can you compare it to the MX Revolution a little more? I still use the damn thing and honestly I can't find a better mouse than it. Even for gaming purposes... the MX Revolution was.... Revolutionary, and in my mind it still is. Hoping there was advancement after 16 years of using it.
Great comparisong :) I noticed here in Australia the ETA kept being pushed back :( Do you or anyone here know, the keyboards and this mouse have the same USB wifi connection thing, does that mean you can just use one of the USB things even if you are using a logitech mouse AND keyboard? or do you have to connect one for each? My new Lenovo only has 2x USB Type C and 1x USB 3.1 gen2 connections and that"s it and one of those USB C connections is for the power if its plugged in.
@@daviddsouza85 Thanks, yesterday I was looking at the receiver itself that could be bought alone and it said it could connect up to 6 items ie keyboard and mice so I assume you are correct. :) thats a good thing, one less port to take up.
I did try the MX Master 2S, but it felt like a cheap plastic toy so I returned it, how about the MX Master 3, does it still feel like a cheap plastic toy. I love the original, it was my first Mouse.

Yes you can manually switch between ratchet and smooth
Great review! Just what I needed to make my purchase decision
Best user feedback ever :D
I think they should remodel the 2 because a lot of people prefer its size
I wish it still had three LED’s. I really like that on the MX2.
Great review and comparison! Thank you!
Thank you Stan. Great review.
Which keyboard is that .. actually I’m looking forward to buy a good gaming keyboard. And yes ur really doing great and sharing a detailed information. I like that
me too... somebody?
Thanks. Will go with MX 2s
That was an excellent review..
Subscribed!
the wheels themselves on MX3 was worth the upgrade!
Yes you can manually switch between ratchet and smooth
I know I want to buy the MX3 but can't actually remember why I needed it lol.
USB-C. Feel better now?
nice work with the fake knife cut :)
Shhh! I messed up the first take D:
I thought there was a huge hole in the back and he was jutting one of those circle pieces of tape.
Great review so far on tube, thanks
Awesome comparison, thanks a LOT ! Instant sub )
Good review. They'll have a hard job improving on the MX Master 2s, and from looks alone they haven't.
Should I get 2s or 3 ?
@@inclinedscorpio 2S ....
@@AkxMalik I have returned 3 as it was having scroll issues.
Is 2s having it too ?
I think the Mx Master is the coolest looking mouse out there and definitely one of the most comfortable
Hey, great video! tell me something, is that the graphite version or there is a "black" version that I haven't seen?
that is the black version
Best review for MX mouse
Solid review man
Nice review! If you don't mind, what kind of desktop speakers do you have there?
16-minute review and not a single click on the damn left/right mouse buttons. Come on, man, people want to know how noisy the clicks are. Are they the same as MX2/MX1?
loud as heck, same omrons as 2s
I honestly don't understand why we still have loud, clicky office mice in 2019. With the possible exception of gamers, who the hell needs to hear those annoying clicks all day long? Such a shame that a premium product like this is so loud.
@@Balconetti Yeah im with you, i had to break warranty and open mine to silence those buggers. I don´t get it, they have the Logitech 220 which is marketed as a SILENT mouse. Why not just put the same triggers on MX Master?
Yes.
0Imtheslime0 please make a video on how to do it... I don’t wanna mess up mine when I get it
just bought mine. Having a hard time with the wheel being so forward. I have an average size hand but feels like its for people with larger hands.
Great review! It really is an fantastic mouse. 👍😀
Awesome review thanks
Thanks, it is really a good review.
Great review
love the review...very specific
If you disconnect the ratcheting mechanism on the S2, it is silent too.
It also has a smooth body and smoother lines.
for the price I would grab the MX 2S thank you for your help
I like the MX Master 3 but the position will hurt the writs with larger hand sizes (the mouse literally encourages the wrist to go into the ground. The 1st design for me was great, the 2nd not so good & then this company just keeps changing their form without providing variety. I may be leaving these great mice because of it.
The side scroll wheel does not work to increase or decrease the brush size in Photoshop CC 2021. I bought the mouse for this functionality and now I am returning it. For something that costs £89 I expected it to work as advertised. I don't know if it is an Adobe issue or a Logi issue.
The horizontal well have diferent funtions in mx 3. We can change the brush size in photoshop. Mx 2 we cant not. Mx2 we can no used Flow technology.
Can you compare it to the MX Revolution a little more? I still use the damn thing and honestly I can't find a better mouse than it. Even for gaming purposes... the MX Revolution was.... Revolutionary, and in my mind it still is. Hoping there was advancement after 16 years of using it.
Brilliant video!
Thank you for this clear and complete review. You helped me make up my mind which one to buy :)
So which did you get?
Great comparisong :) I noticed here in Australia the ETA kept being pushed back :( Do you or anyone here know, the keyboards and this mouse have the same USB wifi connection thing, does that mean you can just use one of the USB things even if you are using a logitech mouse AND keyboard? or do you have to connect one for each? My new Lenovo only has 2x USB Type C and 1x USB 3.1 gen2 connections and that"s it and one of those USB C connections is for the power if its plugged in.
Pretty sure yes. On a different Logitech mouse mine came with a unifying receiver
I love the original, it was my first Mouse.
same, mx 2s regression to mx 1, mx 3 is similar to mx 2 except it feels in touch more like dirty rubber with plastic.
What about the specs...most important thing... latency and such?
