Great review, I even upgraded mine by replacing the unifying receiver inside with small USB micro SD card reader. That adds a lot more convenience to already convenient and compact mouse. Btw Logitech m590 Silent is also worth considering, it's a bit smaller, supports 2 Bluetooth devices and doesn't have thumb button nor infinite scroll.
Good review, definitely a great mouse and I love the infinite scroll. Mine has almost 4 years and works almost exactly like the first time, only the battery pass to left almost 16 months to 3 or 4, and I wear out the sides a little bit.
we need refresh on this one, adding new sensor for lower latency and virgin ptfe gliders would make it perfect for me, love mouses with 1 2 years of battery life
@@earlmalaki Sorry for the translation by Google Translate ;) 3 is not for me due to: 1) too low side buttons - I keep my thumb on them, but maybe it's a matter of my habit and also profiling this thumb support a bit? 2) angular shape on the right side of the side roller - people who have a tendency to grasp the mouse further (keep their entire hand on the mouse so that the index finger does not (or hardly) reaches the retracted roller) this angular shape will be painful. If the old mouse gets used to the grip, where it was not turned to the right, but straight, then this shape is a torment. 2S, first of all, does not have this angular shape, but it is nicely contoured, there are also no side buttons so low, but I am still annoyed by the thumb rest and the recessed side buttons so that you have to press them with a part of your thumb before bending
i still prefer the mx master by far because i'm scrolling most of the time time with my mouuser and i think it is crucial to invest in what will provide the best scrolling experiance, Including a dedicated side scroll button
I agree about going for the best experience. When I bought this 6 years ago, I was still studying and the M720 was already a stretch for my budget but I still went for it because I knew the infinite scroll would help a lot (I studied computer science, lots of code and scrolling hahaha)
The left button on my M705 died after four years, but most likely due to a couple of drops. I opted for the M720 as a replacement, as generally I was happy with the M705. Based on the reviews and only for 25% more money the upgrade the M720 meant caught me by surprise. The extra buttons are welcome, right now I use the thumb button to change input languages. Ergonomics is a nice improvement. While the M705 fits my palm quite well, it was not always perfect (8.5/10). The M720 changed its shape just enough to fit in my palm better, pretty much perfect now (9.7/10). The rubber cover feels nice with a good grip, I wonder though how it will withstand time. One battery is also a welcomed change versus two in the M705 (I know, it can be used with one). Overall it is an improvement of 22.5% of battery efficiency. TBH I wouldn't want the hassle of charging built-in battery every few months with the Master line. One of the biggest function upgrades; using three screens I do not care about. Yet, the M720 feels a big enough upgrade to justify the current £40 price as opposed to the £30 on the M705. I am glad, I went with it, mostly for the improved ergonomics and extra, customisable buttons. One thing I do not understand is the white colour choice on the bottom. That for sure will look dirty in a few months. But I guess, there are ways to clean it too. Overall, a happy camper. I hope the M720 will last longer than my M705. Which has most likely lost its left button contact due to the drops (I consider 4 years still a good go). I never thought, I can enjoy a mouse upgrade, but I am. :)
I use a G604 as one of my mains, the dongle for my gaming laptop and the BT for Win-tablet. I like how the switch button is on the top so I don't have to pickup the mouse to toggle between devices. Bought the 720 around a year ago for the same functions but for my phone, tablet and Legion Go. Only issues I have with the 720 is you re-pair the dongle via GHub. Not bad mice, but Logitech needs to stop using rubber as my 604 is starting to deteriorate so I'm going to have to re-skin it.
How was the rubber coating after 4 years? I just bought this mouse and I'm loving it so far, but I'm worried about the rubber coating chipping away as I have seen other videos and doesn't look good. No-frills, great review!
i had the same worry before haha surprisingly it's still in good shape despite my daily usage for the past 6(?) years. the worst damage is the area around my pinky finger. i guess my pinky fingernail claws into the rubber. but it's honestly not bad at all, kinda like a dimple haha it probably depends on the climate, grip, and usage so your mileage may vary
The FLOW technology is the main reason I noticed this mouse. It looks so good for a multi-device user like me, especially for cross-device control, easy file sharing and automatic keyboard switching. There is few videos talking about it, so how’s your “flow” experience with it? Does it provide what it says?
Thank you for the in depth review! Would you recommend this over the M331? I mean it's basically a no-brainer but I want to hear your thoughts on it as well. :)
Absolutely! I have the M331 too and I would say just go straight to M720 (even though the price difference is a bit huge). You just get a lot more (infinite scroll, customizable buttons), especially considering that the M720 price has gone down a lot (now around $30-$40)
After a couple of years of usage I can clearly tell that that the right clicks have more tangible and audible impact, the left clicks are somewhat smothered. Still working fine though, just not as satisfactory as it used to be
Hi I just bought Logitech M720 and I want to check whether I got a faulty product. Currently my scroll wheel feels loose, I can move it a little bit to the left and right without registering the horizontal scrolling. It also produces a rattling sound when I shake it. (feels like some parts inside are moving around). I assume that the normal one is not like this, does this happen with yours?
Hey there! Tried doing that and there is a little bit of left-right movement/shake. Slight rattle when shaking too but I'm certain mine comes from the wheel shaking, not from the inside. I can't be certain if yours have excessive or normal shake/rattle without seeing/hearing it though :(
Yup! I'm using it for both mac (personal) and windows (work) on a daily basis. There are quite a number of options out there, so try to narrow it down first by factoring in your preferences -- Do you prefer full size or tenkeyless? Tall or short keys? Do you prefer mechanical? Budget range? You can check out Logitech MX Keys, k780, k380, and k375s For mechanical, Keychron is a popular choice. Hope this helps!
I'm about to purchase this mouse, but I'm still worried about the rubber coating. I have 6 devices with rubber coatings, and 3 of them has now become very sticky. The other are holding up well, and I can differentiate that those have a thinner, smoother, more subtle rubber feeling coat, while the ones that are now very sticky had a thicker-feeling coat, which were already a little bit sticky when they were still brand new. I hope you can help me determine which one does this mouse have?
Jan Daryl Castrence Im assuming if he hasn’t mentioned the rubber wearing down over four years, then it’s not something that has bothered him. If it’s something that’s really important to you, then check out some other reviews.
Hi Jan! Jenn is right -- I did not encounter that issue in the four years (and counting) of daily usage. You can see in the video that the mice's exterior is still intact -- only a few scratches but no major wearing. I would describe the coating on the M720 as the thinner and subtle coat/material. Hope this helps!
Haha, durability? You dropped it twice and it still works? I have dropped mine HARD onto concrete no less than 100 times, and it still performs flawlessly. My only complaint is i keep accidentally clicking the button under my thumb and it makes all my windows start to misbehave. Ive been too lazy to bother figuring out how to disable or change that, so it must not be that annoying.
Can I program different gestures on different devices I pair it with? Say 1 windows laptop and another macbook? Will the mouse (or say the systems) remember their respective gestures when I switch the mouse from 1 system to the other (via clicking the button or using flow, whichever)??
what can you say about both? curious about the g502 (specifically the lightspeed version). eyeing that or mx master when this m720 dies (still running great after 6 years hahaha)
i had a big concern about this mouse especially the "rubber-like" body. for the long term or until now did the rubber expand or not? because I have M337 after 2 years of use the rubber body is expanding even though the switch function still perfectly fine. what about yours? i hope you can answer this since I'm thinking about whether should I buy this M720 or MX anywhere 3
Mine didn't expand or anything even after 5 years (and counting) of use. No major deterioration on the body and performance. I think a major decision factor for you would be the form factor
What would a good option be to replace this mouse? I love the infinite scroll and the 3 bt connections, but my mouse is starting to fail and I can't find the same model anymore, or something similar
Great! Being able to mimic the trackpad gestures to the mouse gesture button is really awesome. Mac trackpads are amazing but there are tasks that are better done with a mouse.
It sounds like the normal mouse clicks. I did review the Logi M330/M331, which is a silent mouse, and I compared its silent clicks versus the M720's normal clicks. You might find that video helpful!
Eagle eye haha well I used to be a sublime user that's why I kept it there just in case, but I never really had to use it, just forgot to uninstall it altogether haha
Yup still using it. Mine started double clicking at year 5. Replaced the microswitches for around $5 to fix the double clicking problem (link to the video in the description).
Hi there, I had an issue with my mouse, when I'm using the mouse is working fine and when left the mouse and do some work with keyboard or just watch any video, when I'm trying to use the mouse again it's taking like 3-4 seconds to connect, it was repeating every single time it's so irritating Ps: I'm using only single device and keyboard don't have that issue Can anyone help me through this, Thanks in advance.
@@dineshk4254 i think it would help if you can try the mouse on another device, if that issue still persists on that device then the mouse has a problem. Another option would be to use the unifying receiver instead of bluetooth
I couldn't get the mouse to work properly, it would time-out after sitting for just seconds and then take anywhere from 2 to 7 seconds to reactivate when touched. If anyone wants it... it's yours.
Maybe it's a defective unit? To isolate the issue: Try it with a different computer, with bluetooth, or with the unifying receiver. If it's the same time-out issue for all setups then it's absolutely a defective unit.
tough call too haha but a few things to consider: - you have to flip the mouse over to switch to other devices on the 2s since the button is under, unlike the m720 which is on the side - I've read a lot of feedback that the side buttons on the 2s is slightly too tucked in, making it hard to reach/press especially for people with longer thumbs. - 2s has horizontal scroll when, the m720 doesn't
Do you mean to use the usb receiver and bluetooth on one machine at the same time? I think this isn't possible. Technically the mouse can only use one of the three channels at a time -- so either tune to the usb receiver or to the bluetooth channel, not both. I generally advise using the usb receiver for heavy-duty use though as it offers lower latency compared to bluetooth (but I can only feel this when gaming).
Afaik that's a combination of the software, OS, and mouse (and its settings). But yes this does support smooth scrolling, both in settings (logitech options) and the mouse itself (free scroll mode instead of ratchet mode). I personally have mine on free scroll mode most of the time and in this mode its absolutely smooth (and fast!). Very helpful when browsing and/or coding
I haven't tried the M510. What I can say though is that I sometimes click left tilt when clicking middle but never the other way around (middle when trying to tilt left)
need a new mouse...i am not a gamer...mostly use PC for utube / facebook / scrolling info through google / itunes / make music from discs / not that tech savy so which mouse would be best for me btween these 3.....MX MASTER 3....MX ANYWHERE 3 or the M720....interested in your thoughts or anyone elses....cheers all
Among the three: MX Anywhere is good for those who need portability and small form factor, which is not your case. So, if budget is not a concern, I'd say go for the MX Master . But if you don't want to spend much, then the M720 really is a great pick. I think you'll find great use of the free-spin mode scroll wheel, worry-free 24-month battery life, 5-6 customizable buttons, connect up-to 3 devices, etc.
as far as i know most mice these days use invisible optics as it's apparently better than laser. same working logic as laser, but it's just 'invisible' since they're using a wavelength not visible to the human eye
I tried assigning it to Z and it worked (haven't tested in games though). I did Gesture button > Keystroke assignment > Z At first I thought it wasn't working but it turns out that was because I was trying it on Chrome's URL field (so Z would show up when I press the gesture button), but then I realized I have Chrome-specific action for gesture button.
You need to pair it again to the unifying receiver. To do that, download and install Logitech Unifying Software, run it, plug the receiver, restart the mouse. The app will have on screen instructions so just follow through it. You can uninstal the app afterwards. Let me know how it goes!
if you're referring to the clicks, it's the usual 'clicky' mouse clicks haha i did review a mouse with quiet clicks though -- the Logi M330/M331. Here's the link ua-cam.com/video/hOi6_1_n0rs/v-deo.html
Oops sorry I forgot to get back to this after measuring my hand! Hahaha mine's 18x11cm. Mainly claw but palm almost and sometimes touches. I *think* it'll be palm for you.
If you'll game more than anything else, I'd say it won't be a good fit -- mainly because it's heavy (at least in my opinion). I've been playing more than usual recently (Dota), and I wish it was lighter.
I just bought it for using with macOS and after watching your review I’m sure I couldn’t buy anything better to replace my Magic Mouse 2 without have to sell a kidney (here in Brazil the MM2 costs about 160 usd) LOL thanks for the video though.

I haven't and can't try that as I only have 1 unifying dongle. Didn't find anything on a quick search too. Interesting question though!
Mantap padu!
I just upgraded to the g502 been using this mouse for 1 and a half years
what can you say about both? curious about the g502 (specifically the lightspeed version). eyeing that or mx master when this m720 dies (still running great after 6 years hahaha)
Do you think the horizontal scroll wheel is a must and irreplaceable on MX Master
20 bucks at Costco now. A steal at this price!!
this goes for 20 bucks now?! definitely a steal!
Do you think if i want to get a productivity mouse and use it for gaming too, should just get that Logitech G604?
Is the USB receiver a requirement?
nope it's just an option. so you can use either bluetooth or the unifying receiver
i had a big concern about this mouse especially the "rubber-like" body. for the long term or until now did the rubber expand or not?
because I have M337 after 2 years of use the rubber body is expanding even though the switch function still perfectly fine. what about yours?
i hope you can answer this since I'm thinking about whether should I buy this M720 or MX anywhere 3
Mine didn't expand or anything even after 5 years (and counting) of use. No major deterioration on the body and performance. I think a major decision factor for you would be the form factor
can we click wheel to open link in new tab in internet browser?
What would a good option be to replace this mouse? I love the infinite scroll and the 3 bt connections, but my mouse is starting to fail and I can't find the same model anymore, or something similar
Excellent, my problem is fixed by following the instruction above, many thanks
Thanks for show what this mouse can do with macOS because I think buy trackpad but now will buy this one )
Great! Being able to mimic the trackpad gestures to the mouse gesture button is really awesome. Mac trackpads are amazing but there are tasks that are better done with a mouse.
Hi are the main left and right clickers silent? Would love to hear your feedback. Thanks !
It sounds like the normal mouse clicks. I did review the Logi M330/M331, which is a silent mouse, and I compared its silent clicks versus the M720's normal clicks. You might find that video helpful!
3:04 one question: why would you have sublime text when you are already using vs code? Is it because you can customize key for sublime?
Eagle eye haha well I used to be a sublime user that's why I kept it there just in case, but I never really had to use it, just forgot to uninstall it altogether haha
Waht do you do with the tilts on the scroll wheel? How do you dcroll left and right too?
Hi, There is also a M720 PRO version of this mouse. Amazon What is the difference? i want to upgrade my M705 Thanks!
Are you still using it now? Does it start to get any issue? Ive heard someone just had it for a year and already had double clicking
Yup still using it. Mine started double clicking at year 5. Replaced the microswitches for around $5 to fix the double clicking problem (link to the video in the description).
Hi there,
I had an issue with my mouse, when I'm using the mouse is working fine and when left the mouse and do some work with keyboard or just watch any video, when I'm trying to use the mouse again it's taking like 3-4 seconds to connect, it was repeating every single time it's so irritating
Ps: I'm using only single device and keyboard don't have that issue
Can anyone help me through this,
Thanks in advance.
Is it connected using Bluetooth? Try unpairing it then pairing again
@@earlmalaki tried but not working fine
@@dineshk4254 i think it would help if you can try the mouse on another device, if that issue still persists on that device then the mouse has a problem. Another option would be to use the unifying receiver instead of bluetooth
Nice video
Thanks mate
Do the side buttons work for gaming?
I haven't tried but I think it's possible since you can assign custom keys per app (games included) using Logi Options
I just purchased mine and it has a pretty audible rattle sound when using it. Am I the only one with this problem or is it normal in this model?
Compatible con Ios 14.2 en IPad Pro 12.9?
I couldn't get the mouse to work properly, it would time-out after sitting for just seconds and then take anywhere from 2 to 7 seconds to reactivate when touched. If anyone wants it... it's yours.
Maybe it's a defective unit? To isolate the issue: Try it with a different computer, with bluetooth, or with the unifying receiver. If it's the same time-out issue for all setups then it's absolutely a defective unit.
Ahh beha setup
yes beybehhh hahaha
I just got one but i was really confused where the 8th button was, but i missed the hidden one
sneaky hahaha make sure to use Logi Options to customize that
Should I buy m720 or 2s? Having trouble deciding
tough call too haha but a few things to consider:
- you have to flip the mouse over to switch to other devices on the 2s since the button is under, unlike the m720 which is on the side
- I've read a lot of feedback that the side buttons on the 2s is slightly too tucked in, making it hard to reach/press especially for people with longer thumbs.
- 2s has horizontal scroll when, the m720 doesn't
Can you use bluetooth and wireless connection at the same time? Does this method avoid connection drops or latencies?
Do you mean to use the usb receiver and bluetooth on one machine at the same time? I think this isn't possible. Technically the mouse can only use one of the three channels at a time -- so either tune to the usb receiver or to the bluetooth channel, not both.
I generally advise using the usb receiver for heavy-duty use though as it offers lower latency compared to bluetooth (but I can only feel this when gaming).
Is scrolling smooth on this mouse? I mean I don't want a web page (or code editor) to make small jumps, but to move smoothly when I scroll it.
Can I use the my programmed shortcuts without the Logitech software? (planed to use it on company laptop) Is there's any onboard memory for this ?
unfortunately no :( had this problem too back then
GET. THIS. MOUSE.
Thanks
How does the scroll wheel work compared to the M510? I keep clicking the tilt when using the middle button and vice versa.
I got it and love it but I am wondering how it tracks motion? I don't see any laser lights
as far as i know most mice these days use invisible optics as it's apparently better than laser. same working logic as laser, but it's just 'invisible' since they're using a wavelength not visible to the human eye
@@earlmalaki thank you for your reply
@@EternalDestiny48 sure!
is it just me or can you also not change your buttons to letters like my gesture button as z for gaming
I tried assigning it to Z and it worked (haven't tested in games though). I did Gesture button > Keystroke assignment > Z
At first I thought it wasn't working but it turns out that was because I was trying it on Chrome's URL field (so Z would show up when I press the gesture button), but then I realized I have Chrome-specific action for gesture button.
@@earlmalaki I will try thank you
Does anyone know how to make the mouse go back to the USB connection instead of the Bluetooth one? Thanks!
You need to pair it again to the unifying receiver. To do that, download and install Logitech Unifying Software, run it, plug the receiver, restart the mouse. The app will have on screen instructions so just follow through it. You can uninstal the app afterwards. Let me know how it goes!
Очень познавательно. Благодарю за информацию.
Is the mouse quiet?
if you're referring to the clicks, it's the usual 'clicky' mouse clicks haha i did review a mouse with quiet clicks though -- the Logi M330/M331. Here's the link ua-cam.com/video/hOi6_1_n0rs/v-deo.html
cool technology
how big is your hand? mine is 16.5 and 8.5cm
and do you use it with a palm or claw grip?
!
Oops sorry I forgot to get back to this after measuring my hand! Hahaha mine's 18x11cm. Mainly claw but palm almost and sometimes touches. I *think* it'll be palm for you.
@@earlmalaki thank you !
Just bought for $27!
Niiice, that's a really good catch. Is that a black friday deal?
@@earlmalaki nope. Just eBay!
@@earlmalaki although Amazon had them for $30!
HOW ABOUT FOR GAMING
If you'll game more than anything else, I'd say it won't be a good fit -- mainly because it's heavy (at least in my opinion). I've been playing more than usual recently (Dota), and I wish it was lighter.
@@earlmalaki thank you for your reply
You're welcome
I just bought it for using with macOS and after watching your review I’m sure I couldn’t buy anything better to replace my Magic Mouse 2 without have to sell a kidney (here in Brazil the MM2 costs about 160 usd) LOL thanks for the video though.
Glad this helped! Ha, roughly the same price here in Ph 🤣
Stay safe bows
stay safe gihap bows
All Logitech mouse are extremely loud clicking. Avoid
I stole a M720 from my schools lost and found, I mean, finders keepers.
