  • A V Glide, A Paul Short stage 3 and a Nick Gibney hybrid piston gun compared. Standing shots with videos sideways on plus I suspended the guns and shot them. Slow motion of the shot cycle. All 3 guns are lovely to shoot.

    I have also got a paul short stage 3 hw97 centenary which i love shooting, but after watching this video im sure the v glide 97 is the quietest out of the 3, have you tested then noise wise by any chance?

  • @sid35gb
    @sid35gb Рік тому

    Hmmm they all sound different, as for recoil that would vary depending on the weight of the rifle the synthetic stock moves more because it’s slightly lighter. So it would down to lock times which is a problem to measure and demonstrate.
    My view is the amount of recoil doesn’t matter if it does disturb the sight picture too much. Trigger setup and lock time are more important to minimise movement before the pellet has left the barrel.

    Which of the three tuned 97's do you prefer and why?

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  7 років тому +1

      +loopoin - they are all great and the differences are very minor. Personal preference would be Nick G for shot cycle followed by Paul Short. Stock on the Paul Short gun makes it the nicest to use. V glide is a great all rounder. Love them all :)

    Very informative video. I have a question about the HW97, as I am not sure if mine shoots at the right power. This is regarding the rubber breech seal.
    When I cock the rifle, then return the lever back home.. just before that, I can't feel the transfer port seal pressing onto the breach. I don't know if this has to do with a low power output of 10 FPE average. Do you feel this tension from your rifles? Maybe someone else would also advise. Thanks.

    • @englanddartsreviews3348
      @englanddartsreviews3348 7 років тому

      I can't honestly say that I have ever taken any notice of whether I can feel the breech seal crushing up as you close the breech. If you are not happy with the seal just change it and be on the safe side - its only a 2 minute job.

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  3 роки тому

      They do shoot pretty good out of the box but my personal live of these guns is just how much difference you can make to the way they shoot through various tuning methods. None of my 97s feel the same to shoot and all of them are excellent in different ways.

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  3 роки тому +1

      @@davt8615 the v mach kit should quieter down the action itself and eliminate twang. Make sure you have a piston sleeve to eliminate all sideways spring vibration too - I thought they were included in the V Mach kit. You could always install a baffle kit in the "silencer" to try and calm down any crack.

    • @davt8615

    Hi, I'm writing to you from Portugal in that moment, I do not have the HW77, now I have a TX 200 MKIII and recently I bought it from a friend of mine who gave up the FT a Nick Gibney kit with aluminum piston and titanium spring. In the first few shots I was disappointed with the size of the groups, now that I have given about 250 shots I am already enjoying it more. However I would like to know what you think about this kit for TX. Congratulations on the channel and also on this particular video.

    Which HW97 stock material do you prefer or think is best out of the wood and the synthetic? Is there a noticeable weight difference between wood and synthetic? I currently have wood but am considering changing it for synthetic.

    • @shootingatdawn
      @shootingatdawn  7 років тому

      +Baboon McGoon - feel wise, there is no competition for the CS stock. However - my guns get used and lots of people try them. I would probably cry if the CS got damaged but the synthetics can take knocks and bangs in their stride.
