Andy Smith moderator insert

- Andy Smith who trades on ebay as 3d-facturyuk creates these moderator inserts for the HW97. There is very little space available for baffles so he makes an insert that makes the most use of the small amount of space available.

Grass needs cutting 😎
sounds the same to me
I added some springs with washers between and a dense felt wrapped around it. I couldn't tell if it made a difference as you'd need to test it side by side, but it must be better than the thick springs without any felt that came with my HW97. Only issue is it removes the weight from the front which could be detrimental if theres any muzzle flip.
One thing that does work well but adds length to the gun is a 1/2" unf adapter you replace the end cap of the HW97 built in silencer that allows you to add any 1/2" unf silencer.
I cant tell the difference much but I like the fact that silencer can be changed easily
Looks good, cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
I prefer the inserts ..the screw on things are bloody grim looking
well done
Does the spring with felt make a sound difference over out of the box hw97?
no i took mine out ..
Waste of money by the sound of it , but a very good video informing the public of not to waste money on , thankyou .
Yes a rabbit would definitely hear all that mechanical noise with or without this device hes trying to sell.
Hardly any effect on noise levels from what I could tell from this clip. However I shudder whenever I see someone cocking a HW97 showing zero mechanical sympathy for the locking mechanism. There really is no need to slam the cocking lever down with such force!
I have had to replace the cocking linkage on two HW77s because years of being slammed has bent the hook on the end so that when its cocked and the lever is latched up it was actually pulling the barrel down. On one of them it was bending the barrel so much that even with adjustable mounts it couldnt get a 35 yard zero. 😲
Hi neil
Do you use same brand of pellets in your 3 tuned hw 97's? If yes what brand are they?

Thanks neil👍🏻

What is the reason for these having the larger diameter muzzle end if it's not a silencer? Does it make more accurate?
It's a muzzle break, used to reduce recoil. 👍
Will this fit a Mk1 HW97K?
I noticed ..cool idea .. how much
Die Kamera war nicht auf das Ziel gerichtet was war da zu sehen hat er getroffen jetzt?
theres deffinately a difference .. everything has a pop of air its simple physics basic compressed air .. so your saying at 22 ft lb a hw97 would sound the same because its spring noise ?? its compressed air volume . the more there is the louder or sharper the pop . this rifle is tuned so well theres no internal noise .. i want one
i put my akg headphones on and theres a big difference ..i have 97s in all types and states of tune , anything disrupting the still expanding air behind the pellet is going to quieten the shot
Got to be better than screwing an extra 6" onto the muzzle break
Not as efficient as the HW silencer. They really do work wonders.
Come on guys .
the wierauch aftermarket silencer has had good reviews
why didnt they build a version of this into the hw 97
instead of a bit of cardboard
Plane drowned out gun at the start. Then wind noise. 😂
I couldn’t tell any perceptible difference. The only way you can really quieten down a Springer, is to tune it with a kit. After all, all the sound, comes from the spring and piston.
Can't really hear much of a difference and I know they are not cheap; not as much as an HW which is about £85 now to fit the 97k , I think if I were in the market for one I would go with an HW no my 97k and the other rifles I have and they work very well but do add extra length to the rifle. They work really well on PCP's and co2 and are much more noticeable
Well they fit ok, doesn't make a difference to the blast.
Just found this vid bit late I know,, Insert made no difference gun end that I could hear but down range it did cut down on mechanical noise, now I did not expect that.
I can hear the differance its definately works.
Interesting, I listened to the downrange shots almost side by side and couldn't really hear a difference.
What scope rings exactly are you using on your HW97Ks because i need a set to buy and i want good ones buddy.
You never show the targets, to show how the guns shoot and group, just you being vicious with the man handling , of the underlever , like a wrestler cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Yes and the crap spring you have in the gun along with a ton of grease
These so called baffles are not doing anything at all. They are meant to tire the air flow before exiting the muzzle yet these appear to be just straight tubes and nothing else.
If you can find an air logic silencer from the early eighties to fit this rifle you will notice a reduction in sound from the muzzle only. As this is a v-glide rifle its mechanical noise will have already been subdued by the tune alone. I have a mk1 HW80 fitted with the old air logic whisper silencer and it does a sterling job at noise suppression. This rifle has a vmach kit and tinbum short stroke (12mm) fitted and does shoot rather nice.
.
The void of a hw97 is far too short to make a noticeable difference, this is why good silencers are usually really fat or long, yet another gimmick in the airgun community,
Deffo a difference
A load of crap .
He?? With the original silencer you can´t hit the target and when you putt in these ?? and you hit ? Without change your scope!? The same as I buy a car on TV advertising
Carsten wtf? It made no difference to accuracy, he didn’t want to hit the target just so we could hear the sound of the shot without the pellet striking the target.
Can't say I'm impressed with that.. Sorry
And the answer is.......no
No difference, silencer's are just gimics on Air rifles
Waste of money imo , good video to show that there is no benefit.
Useless
No difference. Id be disappointed if i paid out for this.
Makes no difference. Get a proper Weihrauch silencer: They make a massive difference.
