- We’ve seen the growing popularity of RC street drag racing using machines like the Traxxas Slash. Our friend Tim Smith has been spearheading the movement with NPRC (No Prep RC) and the increase in participants got us on the move to build our own Drag car from a Slash. Luckily we had a donor truck on hand and picked up a bunch of parts for the build. Of course we’re going to document that build in video form. In this video, part 1, we’re going to go over all of the parts collected for the project. If you want to turn your Slash or other RC truck into a street drag car, you’ll want to follow this series.

No need for shorter front arms with a Parma body. The stock Slash front end fits just fine. Look into sway bars front and rear (I used a all wheel drive Slash front to fit the rear). It helps a bunch keeping it in a straight line. For anyone looking for No Prep Racing info just search for NPRC on Facebook. There are over 20 different groups now. We race twice a month and have anywhere from 7 to 15 cars show up.

Finally getting the slash 4x4 vxl and 2wd vxl 1/10 on Friday. Very excited I've been waiting for a couple months to figure out what I want since I'm new to this hobby.

As soon as I saw that old school car body the first thing that came to my head was the monster truck avenger! I’ve always liked the truck and wanted to get a Stampede and put a monster jam body on it. Where can I get that body? Also cool video!😎

What about body post/mounts? Will you be using stock?
What are you going to use for rear hexes? Stock traxxas hexes are 12mm and those rear drag slicks are 14mm I believe. I am also in the process of building one of these and would like to know what you use. TIA

The Slash is a pretty versatile machine.
RCDriver_Online You Think It Would Be A Good Start Into Offroad I Wanna Start Racing At My Local Track SDRC But Also Something I Can Bash.
A lot of drivers got into racing with a Traxxas Slash. Some tracks even offer a Stock Slash class. It looks like SDRC has a beginner class so you can probably race the Slash in that. I've never been to SDRD, but heard they have a good program, might be a good idea to go there and talk to the track director to help get you going in the right direction.

is the 2.2 front tires neccesary or can i run the stock size
Coincidentally I started a street drag car project with the exact same body about 2 weeks ago! I'm using the Arrma Senton 2018 version for the chassis that has 17mm hubs and I'm having a VERY HARD TIME finding a set of tires and wheels for it. I want the slicks or street tires and I want the back tires wider than the front like yours. Does anyone know of a set of tires and wheels that will work on 17mm hubs and get the street drag race look?

Which 14mm adapters are you planning to use for the rear?
Not sure. I know I have some 14mm adapters in a storage bin somewhere. Just have to hunt for them and will mention it in that particular episode.

How long before the next video?
I recently bought a $125 Chinese brushless RC car and wanted to run 3s to hit the 40+mph mark, turns out the clutch and differentials couldn't take it. Now I want to buy an RC car and if it's brushed, I want to brushless convert it so it's comfortably running 3s without damaging any components, I have a tight budget of $200 and I know it's not a lot but I've seen lots of ECX ruckus and torment RC cars for around $110 (really good) condition online (obviously 2nd hand) should I buy one and brushless convert it or is there a better way of meeting my RC 'requirements'? 🤔
You should try a wl toys 12428 convert it to brushless and it will do 50mph on 3s
VIPER ACR so will my current brushless ZD racing RC but they don't last very long on 3s
My wltoys 12428 runs fine on 3s i bought metal diff gears a brushless motor and esc and the truck for 140$

I have a huge issue and need help PLEASE. I NEED THAT 55 CHEVY BODY. I can't find one anywhere. I believe Parma discontinued it. I really want to abandoned my build if I can't find one lol. 55 is my favorite of all times. I'm restoring my 55 which is my dream car so I want the 55 as my custom rc drag car. Do you have any 55 body's you get rid of or would you possibly get rid of the body in this video. I know its an odd question but I really really need that 55 body or one like it. Jconcept makes one but its a chopped top with a hood scoop. My real 55 doesn't have that. I want a standard 55 body. Please HELP THANK YOU

JConcepts makes a 55 Bel Air body that fits the DR10. Maybe it will work?

It does on a fully charged battery in 5 mins and is very unoowerful.
What could be the problem besides the possibility of the battery or charger.
C R U Media Your batteries are most likely terrible. Do you leave them on the charger, to be overcharged?
Spooky Boi no I take hem out when it beeps. The battery is relatively new less then a year old
C R U Media That's actually kind of old for a battery. But I think it also has something to do with your motor. Is it a brushed or brushless?

Replacing the control arms front and rear, new electrons, body, tires, chasis...what exactly is even going to be used from the slash...
Transmission, if you buy the Mike Jenkins edition Slash you don’t have to buy the chassis, Just finished mine, was a really fun build.
