Need to lower that body down as low as possible. It's way too high in the front. That thing is like a giant parachute. I love the paint job though. He did a great job. It looks fantastic!
@@necromantier I get that it's a Gasser, but there comes a point because of the parachute effect you may want to sacrifice looks for function. This would quickly lose its Joy if you had to take the Walk of Shame every other pass that you drove it because it flipped on its lid.
@@NikkiNexo777 Absolutely agree. It was neat to see it as a gasser and all things considering did respectable. But yeah those walks are harsh. The body will be dropped in future runs.
You got this. Vent the body to stop parachute effect, add your wheely bars, let her rip...on a primo day! Thanks for the efforts.
Really fitting that you went with the 55 body, as the chassis sits kinda tall so what you have there is a really killer looking Gasser build........its perfect as a Gasser. great build videos leading up to this one. i admit i cringed at the sound of lexan crying out in pain.....lol.
-Lower and stiffen the shocks(add shock limiters in the shock bodies and install stiffer springs)
-Trash the body you chose and get one that won’t parachute.
-get a longer, lower wheelie bar
-spray grape soda on the rear (and the front) tires
-get rid of the stock front bumper
-put a bit of blue locktite on the stub axle treads
-move your electronics farther forward
-install a smaller spur and larger pinion
-and much, much, much more I won’t list.
the body has to be huge factor. That big, wide stance of the body just turns that thing into a parachute.
Im a big drag racing fan, nice that you built a Gasser. .
Better late than never, I of my top 5 favorites. It is amazing, if it was primer a had a hood scoop you would have the Two Lane Blacktop 55 or gloss black with a small scoop you would have American Graffiti 55. Very excellent work .
Biggest mod that helped me was making the rear toe adjustable, get rid of the gross play it safe toe cast into the factory molds. Straight pulls past 45-55 mph no prob. Great video, professional and concise. Two thumbs up!!!
Even with the cold weather, it turned out great. Can not wait til this spring so we can see what it can actually do. Please keep us posted.
Oh man that was awesome!!!! I can't wait to see how fast it goes once you can hold it wide open!!! 💪💪
That beautiful paint 😱 oh No!!!!!
That thing is sooo beautiful!
Dam i love that antenna trick I'm definitely going to remember that one
Now that is a serious Gasser race car... it's going to catch wind, cause high lift nose
When I first saw the body in the promo I said to myself that is an awesome looking body. Great job on this build.
That thing is awesome! ☺️
Awesome,drag on👍
thanks for sharing the antenna tip
Looks great!
I have always loved gassers .. awesome lookin .. cool paint job ... and yes ... over 60 they can lift and fly .. we got our slashes up to 81mph .. but mine was as low as i could get the front end with limiting straps on the front shocks and a large pro stock type wing on the rear .. j-concepts slammed truck top .. 6s power .. vorza motor, all metal gearing and large ecu ..
That was awesome, what a beautiful body Love the old school Chevys. What a beautiful paint job for sure I have these wheels and tires but didn't fit my hexs
Great paint job..as much as I like the vintage look...I tend to shy from those big boxy bodies. They tend to pocket too much air unless you thru vent them. Last body I did for my 22s was a 63 Falcon. It's been vented and works pretty good. My next will be the 69 Firebird..nice and aerodynamicly sleek
looks awesome so far Greg.. hope to see it in another video!!
One of the best builds I've ever, real imagination!
Great video. I LOVE that body, & paintjob on this car!
NICE !!!!!!paint job👍👍
RCDriver:
I have a 2WD slash that I have done the same thing with. I took a front bumper and flipped it upside down to give it a front spoiler lowered my shocks and lowered the body and with the slash body it would still lift up like a parachute, so I ended up cutting vents in the body and I still couldn't keep it on the ground. I ended up buying a rustler body and it stays on the ground now but I can't seem to get it to go past half throttle (65mph) without it whipping out. I'm not asking for help, I am telling you all this to let you know you are not the only one out there who has issues. If I were you I would get a trashed body and work out all your bugs before trying to put a beautiful body on it again. There is a lot of good advice on this page, I would try some of that stuff out too. Oh yeah i also locked my diff so I would have a full possy rear end. Good luck.
Yea brother man put them wheelie bars on there and see some 60 65 mph speeds. He'll yea can't wait sweet stuff there. Good luck .. Great video Thanks for sharing!
Don't sweat it... we enjoyed watching you do it. It was freaking awesome....
The more I think about it. It did pretty good with how it was set-up. Thanks for watching!
SO COOL
I hope you continue this project. Way more fun than crawlers.
wow nice
Cutting the back of the body out will help also making the rear suspension stiffer will also help 😎 can't wait to see more on this build 👊
Body turned out awesome. Much love from California 👍👊🔥.
Awesome
It's awesome
Looks great! Great job👍
Love the build by the way !
Really love the paint job on the car
Man what an awesome video, and series
Cool video.
looks awesome you inspired me.
Nice built.
Good job bro !
Looks like it needed some extra weight to keep it planted. So cool, great build.
Beautiful, it hurt me to see the body get destroyed
Me and my buddy were trying to top out a rustler. We had wheelie issues at above 50 mph. So we filled a 2ltr bottle full of pennies and taped it to the front. It would drag the front until you got into the throttle. We got 128mph out of it and a court case in lenawee county michigan.
love drag racing and triaxis going to have to make me 1
Awesome build.
I turned a extended chassis rustler into a 1/8 street car. Had parachuting issues. Took lots of work to get it right. 550 can, MMAX PRO, 4S, MIP driveshafts, and X01 front bumper added. It’s a fun car now though. Chase my buddies X01 around. Only bad part is the damage is nasty when you get going at high speeds. 😆
I see you have received plenty of opinions about what to do to this car so I won’t pile on. Enjoying the build. 👍🤘
2 things that will help keep the car on the ground, a longer wheelie bar, and lower the front end. As it is its nothing more than a kite
Drag racing is the best even in R/C
I know you wanted that gasser look, but if the car is going to work, you MUST lower that front end.
Weight will slow you rc down just a longer wheelie bar in aluminum and better drag tires like the proline belted and lower the body and suspension
The front end was lifting and causing you to lose control. Needs to be lowered and an air damn might help keep the nose from lifting. Looks great and I like the videos. Thanks
Getting too much air underneath the car and getting lift. I make ' Selead Adjustable underplates' for slash drag builds for just this reason. Get a front splitter, some weight up front and maybe even a rear diffuser. That will help a lot.
Great project, a credit to you - Seems that so many Slash drag racers have a tendency to 'lift off' at higher speeds yet I fail to see owner's attempting to seal the body of open it up to reduce the upward force.
I have no experience with rc drag racers yet I'm convinced that it'd run far better without the body on, or at the very least with the rear end cut out along with the rear window.
They're like little parachutes at 50mph
I know I may be a little late but for anyone wondering I have the 14 series 7700 KV motor and I run it on 3s for top speed and drag racing it may get a little hot but never had issues with it burning itself up.
FINALLY!!!!!!!
Add some weight up front and drill some holes in the rear window too and that body might just work. Even with the back cut out there is still some air going up into the roof area and creating lift because of the gasser style way the body is on there. Real gassers back in the day did that too. I've got pics of quite a few where they swiss cheesed the rear to try and get all the air to flow through instead of getting trapped.
132Ft. Gear accordingly.
The body looks great! But it acted like a parachute. Maybe a Lexan flat shroud underbody? Maybe a few little holes in the top of the rear window? I love this project. I hope you keep develop and tune this car more. I will be there taking notes! Great video.
Very cool car. Try installing a longer Willy bar in the rear to keep the front end from coming up so far. It does work.
Had no luck with my slash , i upgraded to a 4tec 2.0 and have the most fun ive had since i started racing!!
I confess, I'm not subscribed - but this was in the suggested videos. I saw the body and definitely had to watch! I love the look of the older vehicles, and that is an awesome paint job, that blower added to the look!
omg finally this vid
If you wanted to keep the front end up maybe put something under the front of the body to push the front end down or redirect the airflow.
A good thing to do would be to put some positive camber (you can experiment with how much to add) so then when the car squats and inevitably gains more negative camber the positive camber will cancel it out and you will then truly have a 100% contact patch.
Yesss! What’s up
You need some stiff linear rate springs on the rear. The soft stage of those progressive rate springs are designed to give the original Slash a "scale" roll & pitch.
That's exactly what I did(after looking at my on-road vehicle's springs and realizing how stiff they are) and now it's very hard to roll the vehicle.
What a great looking car this is! Perhaps a front spoiler might help hold the body down to stop the parachute effect. I don’t know how it will look, but it might help hold the body down! Great run anyway, lots of fun!
That, good sir, is a Gasser.
Sweet build you should try Shorter front shocks to get the front lower rather than gasser stance and make some wheel wells so it dont parachute as bad and maybe some lead in the front
Different/smaller body, better asphalt, need a lil camber in the rear (the suspension squats under throttle)... But this really needs to come out in the warmer weather and give it another good go.
The parasute effect Damn, My fox body does the same, Your shell looks a little high in front! Wieght in front ??? You know more then I, Love your vids bro, Keep it up, be safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry brother! I had to jump that forward to 8:40! Sick looking car!
If you wanna make it easier to film when you are alone mou t a gopro or even your phone to your remote. That way you can point at the car and drive it easily at the same time. Kevin Talbot does this and it turns out good.
I think the parachute effect is the main isue here. Try to add a plate on the bottom, which prevents the air from lifting the front end.
you can keep it nose high, just need to add weights to the front to counteract the air force going under, cool gasser look man!!
That thing is like a kite. I was thinking of building one of these for next year. Guess something has to be done about that.
Add some fule tubing to your shock Shasta to lower ur car then add some weight to the front end .
Wow Bizzare , inna good way
Great build. I love the gasser look but it doesn't help when up to speed. If you want to get serious about the sport then drop the body all the way down and put some short front shocks or limit the stock ones. STRC just came out with a bolt on wheelie bar for the 2wd Slash. And finally, top speed only counts at 132 feet. Speed runs and drag racing are two very different animals.
Great ride just need lower front and some suspension adjustment for sure
Have the same body on my drag project. The body flares out bad behind the front tires at speed. Instant parachute
front bumpers killing you in this vid, need that body touching the ground.. 👍🏼
53mph on 2s is good, I mean I can see if it was 3s that would be disappointing but 2s that's not bad at all!!
Put clear fish tank air line on the inside of the shocks lower the whole car down while still having some suspension
No air exit at the back and such a high stance up front and the lower end of the body cut off too much makes for a no-go situation. Awesome build but gunna need to dam the air from filling up inside that body. Keep up the great work
few things, lower the front end, get rid of the front bumper, add weight to the chassis , and a wheelie bar . I built one a slash drag also with the same body , never lifts off, it weighs almost 7 pounds and runs high 60's mph all day long
Your build looks good and solid! The gasser style is definitely your flight issue at higher speeds. A long wheelie bar will help but then the car will basically ride the wheelie bar at higher speeds. Gassers look good but your asking for lifts with that look. You also seem to be doing more of a speed run then a test pass. Maybe measure out a distance and see how it does within that distance.
RPM makes a cage for that ESC to mount into Traxxas vehicles.
It's grabbing air under the front and raising it up, drop the body put a weight on the front and go at it again. I love it though it's a beautiful car.
Ouch that hurts ☹️🥴
Great Vid! That body looks Killer! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 To bad the body is getting abused lmao!
You really need to balance your tires, those rear tires had some severe wobble. Other than being unstable at higher speeds, you'll mess up the drive train, axles, bearings etc. Also, use the Castle link to adjust your throttle curve. As other's have already suggested slam the car down along with that parachute body.
ZoomZoomToys that and sometimes when you glie the tire it is off and can produce the wobble
Great job on the build and very professional video as usual 👍 i have been watching the series and have the Parma 66 Mustang body. I haven't decided which vehicle I'm gonna but it on yet. With the Slash 2wd I know I'll have more options but would really like to but it on my Tekno SCT. Any suggestions?
the reason why drag slick work on real cars is because they have very low air pressure and a clean prepped track, the car looks great as a scale model but there are so many thing that u would need to change to be able to pin the throttle. many peopke have already said many of those things. mainly that parachute body and stance are killing you, but if anything just add wieght. real racers add wieght to thier cars. also those slick will never hook on any road, put and air dam and a slippin in the front to keep air out from onder the car and side skirts to keep all the air from getting under. also mabe soften the suspension. good luck, looks awsome
Front end weight will help a lot , weight all around and cut out the back of the body to eliminate parachuting F X .
Put a lower profile body on it, use an old Ocean spray bottle, just enough to protect the electronics, she will stick better
you probably know this already but- need weight in the front, bumper inverted, seal up the body, it's catching a lot of air.
Wheelie bar won't help, the front will still lift.
Destroy the body right out the gate!!! Lol!
Hey ive been waiting on this one, can't wait to see how it runs. its looking good Greg
looks like u need some vent holes in the body to stop the parachute effect
it looked super cool until that first crash 8-(....need to cut the back window out also.. so air can flow up and out too escape through the top side of body..so much forced air coming into that body with the front set up, it cant all escape through the back tail..@@STEVOD313
STEVO D 313 yeah, my slash stock body brushless would fly @ 45 with a heavy gps up front. 50 easy no body. But yeah parachute effect fosho
