- I've got to replace my passenger low beam so I figured I would take you along for the ride.
Included in this video are a couple important tips to make your life a little bit easier.
You're the first to give a good look at the actual bulb, dead and replacement.
This was a very helpful vid, and makes me wish I had the mechanic upgrade the bulbs when I had him swap out the cloudy lenses.
I want to find the engineer that made it this hard to change a gosh-darn mellonfarmin' light bulb and kick him square in the manly what-nots.
Thanks for the great comment, glad I could help.
Thanks for dropping by.
Mate, you did great, will change my side light bulb in the morning, thank you.
Hahah " Love me or leave me I'll love you just the same " Lol my favorite line. You sound like you have such a household the doggie and the kids lol. Thank you for your help!
I just sent my 2002 Jeep off to the garage to get the bulbs changed. I should have pulled up this video 1st. Thanks for a great demostration.
Thanks man i have bought two sets of headlights and they never said i need to change my bulb i got the 90° and need a straight one i was so mad your video is the only one that says it thank you so much
I went to the Pick Your Part junk yard and got two bulbs out of a junked Jeep. Three reasons, cheap, right bulbs, and I could try it out on a junked Jeep first. Great video.

Great idea. TY
Thanks for this video! I know nothing about cars, this saved my ass.
You are soooo funny - Thanks for the info - very informative
Thank you for the tutorial! It was very helpful!
You are very welcome, glad it helped.
Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment.
the WJ, which this is, ranges from 1999-2004. Headlight bulbs match the same up through 2006 as far as I know, maybe a couple years newer beyond that.
Low: 9006XS (straight plug)
High: 9005XS (straight plug)
Awesome vehicles. One simple bolt to remove headlights, roomy engine compartment, and you can even to major engine repair (pistons) without removing the block on the 4.0 Liter.
These vehicles have two distinct oddities/weak points, okay, maybe 3: If you have dual-climate then at some point you'll have to do the blend door repair, and the left taillight seems to go bad/blow before the right side. The 3rd mention is the transmission. Service it regularly and it'll last longer. My '99 is at 277,777 and still kicking strong and not burning oil.
LED bulbs: If we switch to all LED bulbs for brake, signal, parking etc. for both front and rear then you'll need equalizers to trick the system so it won't fast-flash. Or, you can just switch the front bulbs and leave the rear and it'll be just fine. With OEM housings, I prefer to leave the rear lights incandescent because they are brighter. Brighter = safer.
LED bulbs will work in OEM housings but they will glare. It's better to buy projector housings then put LED (usually two H1 bulbs per side if going this route) bulbs in.
Gorgoon - how is your headlight bolt getting so much moisture to be rusted to that extent? Not sure I've ever seen one that bad.
Great bit of info, I was thinking of going LED but I don't think I'll bother now.
BLEND DOORS ugh. Friggin' Dodge's. My Dakota, my Durango, my present Cherokee, my mothers Journey... ALL of them with their stupid blend doors. You'd think they would of learned something, there were a lot of years and models affected by that plague.
I dug in behind the glove box on all of mine and put them up in the Winter and down in the Summer. My Mom got suckered in by the dealership for about a billion and a half bucks.
Ooooops, replied to the wrong comment so I manage well do this reply to the wrong comment too. LoL
That headlight bolt and many other rusty nuts and bolts are all thanks to our annual Winter and salt intake.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to put a little dielectric grease in the socket before plugging it in.
That would be a very good idea my friend. I didn't have any on hand though.
I would (I'm going to do this, when I change my lights.) take the nubs off ( use a star bit, I think its a 27 or a 28) and us a rust dissolving agent like evapo-rust or the loctite rust neutralizer or something along them lines. Them maybe but a this coat of paint. Make sure its a bonding/fussing type of paint not cheap shitty wipe off with water kinda paint.
Keep those ripper video's coming Goreg.... Did the dog leave any children left in the front yard after the video lol
Cheers Geoff
+Thor2745 Thanks Geoff, I can always count on you for a bit of an ego boost! :c)
I couldn't find any children's bit or pieces anywhere, she must of been very hungry that day. LoL
nice video it saved me a bunch of time .It would have been done sooner except the cable co. was here putting in a new box and could not use the net. Thanks for the info and bye the bye fleetfarm did have a 9006 that was a straight plug not a 90 degree but I still did not chance it and got 9006 xs. They also had a 9006 hvs that would have worked as well.
Glad you were able to make use of my video. Thanks for taking the time to comment as well, it's always appreciated.
Great 720p video now too I see... Very good
+Thor2745 You've told me this before my friend, been using this camera a couple years now. :c)
I've always worried about one headlight being dominant over the other. Seems they could get into an argument and then both refuse to work.
Is this your latest ride?
What happened to the intro?
+WhoSaidTyler It's when the dominant one pulls out the whips and chains that I start getting nervous. LoL
Ya, that's my latest ride, my Dakota bit the biscuit last summer, can't complain as I got well over 500 thousand kms out of her. I was going to do a video on this beast but I didn't bother. It was in almost MINT condition, no rust, original paint very minor dings here and there... not bad for a 17 year old Jeep.
It all started with my EX mechanic bending my rocker panel spot welded channels over with the hoist when he certified it (denied bending them over and claimed they were like that) and then two weeks later one of our drivers backed over my hood with the front end truck, dented and scraped it almost to the windshield... fucking idiot... (he's since been fired cuz he just couldn't stop hitting things)!
I just couldn't be bothered doing a video on it anymore because I wasn't as proud of it as I was when I bought it.
My intro??? Well, lets put it this way. I got tired of fighting with the Google Nazis! Every time I put it in they would de-monitize my video and I would have to fight with them tooth and nail to prove I was legitimately using the soundtrack. They would even hit me years later out of the blue and attack that intro. I gave up, I'm just a little scum in their big pond because I don't get the millions of hits they promote and push people to view all day long.
Google took the You out of UA-cam!
😊
Good job bro
Thank you my friend and thanks for dropping by.
Can anyone help me? The screw on my jeep doesn't want to come out i have the right socket but the screw dosnt even turn. What do i do?
Looks like good old Ontario rust ahaha got the same
Less alcohol or what ever for your next video. How do you realign your headlight after installing it.
Less alcohol or whatever for my next video? What's that supposed to mean?
As for realigning your headlights, there are adjustment screws but kinda hard to explain in words. You can look it up though as I'm sure there are a few vids that will help you out.
Thanks for dropping by.
There are people who want to learn something useful. This guy takes the time out of his day to make a video, and you insult him. Then you expect him to help you out some more. your parents failed you. thank you Goregoon, dont mind people like bruce.
@@michaelmongillo4743 Thanks my friend Ya, people like him and the other basement dwellers don't bother me one bit.
Thanks for dropping by and giving buddy a piece of your mind.
Watching a year later, and read your comment. I see you don't appreciate help with things. Nobody's perfect, but we all try, hope your day is blessed

Why worry about the Google Nazis on the brand of the bulbs you're working on a Jeep
I don't get what the Google Nazis have against us little folk. I show a product that I am using in a video and the attack me with commercial use this and that yet the "professional UA-camrs" that they pump the hell out of can get away with murder. Songs, products, movie clips... seems whatever the hell they want as long as they are getting millions of views.
I have had a few of my videos stripped of monitization just because I used something. Yet car brands don't seem affected.... yet. Pretty soon us little folk will have to do our shitty little videos in a bubble to make room for the people that make google money.
Google killed UA-cam when they bought it. It's no longer about "you", it manage well be called "ItsAllAboutUsAndTheMoneyTube" now.
Thanks for dropping by.
Goregoon M headlights are on the way and thanks to your video I look forward to having them done in no time
