Even if the designs are kind of meh, you've got to admit that the animations are smooth as silk.

@@samuelcamarillo1349 I think what he's getting at is that the animations look so smooth because it's literally just rotation and is also breaking the constraints of being pixel perfect. The game is manipulating pixel art graphics as if it were a vector Flash animation.
@@awesomegamercz It does use the technique sometimes, but it'd be impossible for it to be ALL rotation.
Regardless, sprite rotation and other techniques like it are commonplace in CV ever since the 16-bit era.
@samuelcamarillo1349 I use sprite rotation in my Castlevania fan game as well, what I'm getting at is this game doesn't adhere to resolution limits so you can see the individual pixels rotating instead of being redrawn. And of course it's not all rotation, the images are still 2d so you need more sprites for when parts rotate front to back.
I still like the game though, that Death boss fight was one of the most fun versions of that boss in any 2D Castlevania
The succubus uses Carmilla's voice from Castlevania Judgement.
Christopher's attack grunts comes from Simon's hurt sounds from Castlevania 4.

I found this game to be one of the easiest in the series, Besides Death and the final form of Dracula

If you notice the clock on death's fight it 4.44 and 4 in japan means death, and it's considered an unlucky number because it's the intersection between life and death and death in many castlevania games has 4444 health

death's animation is too smooth and it's kinda scary to fight him and difficult at first but watching this made him look like tissue paper.

They could have released this alongside the advance collection. But we got shafted hard with Dracula X.

Jason Lee not sure what you mean, all those games came after Rondo of Blood (with the exception of Super). Anyways, I want more Classicvania games as well as the post SotN as well.
+niespeludo my point is (was) some people enjoy seeing an overwhelming death animation in any Castlevania video game because it enhances the atmosphere while other gamers (people) dislike seeing overwhelming death animation because it spoils the atmosphere in the game

AdorianSAK Contra 3 compositions, Sunset Raider's soundfont. They used that weird Genesis-like synth that makes that classic 16-bit Konami soundtrack feeling.

Technically, you can't die if you fight Dracula. Because you killed Death, which means you won't die, but will be eternally enslaved, or existing as mush or even ash.
Funny how a seemingly good thing can be much worse than you think.
Nope, Death is eternal. All that happens when he's defeated is the destruction of his temporary corporeal form.
How can something die if it was never alive to begin with?
You could kill death by severing his connection to Dracula and chaos note he isn’t the death just a traitor reaper no way death itself would allow something like Dracula to exist

I'm impressed they didn't reuse much of the sprites from previous Castlevania games, the way most Metroidvania Castlevania games did.

Well, this whole game seems to more or less be patched together from various sound clips, so I’m hardly surprised.
DRACULA always have the same move set in the entire Castlevania Franchise, with minor changes..
For a Nintendo Wii game the music quality is that of Sega Genesis.
They made the music based on the old Konami arcade boards' sound chip (Yamaha), which had more channels and better sound sampling than the Sega Genesis'
They straight up took a lot of the songs from Bloodlines the Sega castlevania

Turns out this is the Belmont before Simon. Christopher was only in two handheld games, the first of which is remade here on the wii, so not a lot of people know about him.

It may just be coincidence, but aren't masks a critical plot element to the Castlevania Shadows timeline? Makes me wonder why they chose a mask as Dracula's final form.

I have been thinking about getting a Castlevaina for a while. Would this make a good first Castlevania game?
It's fairly difficult, so unless you're used to series conventions it can prove to be a little annoying to beat. Super Castlevania IV, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night or Aria of Sorrow are good jumping on points, imo.

+1 to Super Castlevania IV, Rondo of Blood. SOTN is a amazing game too but alittle diffrent from the old school stage based games. still worth playing though in fact for full effect I would say play through Rondo of Blood then SOTN since their storys link (SOTN happens right after Rondo of blood)
There was a part in the first level of the original GB release where if you failed to perfectly time a series of jumps off falling platforms, you had to restart the fucking game because the platforms did not come back.
Perfectly timed jumps. Off falling platforms. That do not return. With classic Castlevania controls.
