i played this game since highschool, i still remember the duplication glitch where there is a hallway where the moon reflects the floor. there is a green flashy thingy there,when you walk to the green flashy thingy at split second, press START(open up your menu) and move using the analog stick to duplicate your items.and thats it(even money works) not sure if i "remember" properly.sometime my mind playing tricks on me(get the reference?). Anyways,that's why im gonna buy a Raspberry Pi 3 so that i could play my fave PS1,PS2,SNES,NES,GB,GBA,and many more. ahhh,how time flies.
It’s called getting a ps2 games I loved like genji Dawn of the Samurai , tekken 4, soul caliber 3, the mortal kombat games, dynasty and samurai warriors need for speed,Star Wars battlefront 2, Spider-Man 2 and now I got tenchu recently another underrated classic and I’m planning on getting other games like maximo1 and 2, onimusha games, chaos legion, shadow of Rome, timesplitters trilogy , way of the samurai 1 and 2 and these castlevania games, like man ps2 so good I might as well play well known games I loved like jak 3, kingdom hearts and sly on the original I got a component wich takes away bluryness and I want hdmi converter so it’s fully hd with no alaising
Although I love the 2D scrollers, I might say, this game was enjoyable actually. It's league's better than the Castlevania 64 games, and the music is super fantastic too. The devs really tried to perfect that Gothic horror atmosphere I'm not going to lie.
I wish they gave 3D another try in the PS3 era (no, Lord of Shadows do not count, I'm talking about IGA-directed games), if they managed to make these games surprisingly good with PS2 hardware and rudimentary tech, imagine how good they would've been later

However each of the maps have a number, implying that the game devs wanted players to follow a specific order for the cutscenes to make sense, also based on the specific enemies they are ordered in the Bestiary. However technically you can play and complete each area in any order you want. Despite this freedom of completing the 5 areas however order you want, the devs still insist on players going to the House of Sacred Remains first since they went as far as putting the map for it as the first pick up when you enter the "stage select" room. Don't worry, i got what you meant because of this run, but this was the order they intended to be followed. 1st: House of Sacred Remains - Undead Parasite 2nd: Anti Souls Mysteries Lab - Big Golem 3rd: Dark Palace of Waterfalls - Joaquim 4th: Garden Forgotten by Time - Medusa 5th: Ghostly Theatre - Succubus Also note that the cinematic cutscenes were only for Joaquim, Medusa, and Succubus, who are the last 3 in the 5 guardian line up, which does makes sense because as you progress throughout the game, Leon becomes stronger with the Whip, and the last 3 become easier to beat if you follow the intended order.
Easiest way to beat The Forgotten One? 1) Have ice whip equipped 2) use the cross and orange orb, have mobius's brooch equipped makes the grand cross spam infinite perfect for part one with the maggots 3) part 2 spamming grand cross is pretty hard so focus on just the ice whip damage use the black bishop to raise attack plus the other attack raising items 4) part 3 spam Grand Cross and Ice Whip hid behind the boulders Use guard and dodge, 90% works to not get hit by any boulders.. When he does that hyper beam, try and stay behind a good rock but that is very near,you can get some nice damage between a charge of the hyper beam if you are near
I beat this game 7 times in my old ps2, 4 times in normal difficulty, 1 time with Joachim, 1 time with the Pumpkin and 1 time in Crazy dificulty, i really love this Castlevania and i miss so much since i don't have a ps2 no more. What a brillhant gameplay you been made man, so much ability! I wish i could play this marvellous game once more!
Serious shit here. Man oh man... The Death fight on Crazy difficulty was always scary. The first time I fought Death on Crazy and I heard "It's over." as an initial attack, I was like wtf! Am I screwed?! And that stupid summon soul shit that happens in 2 waves and if your far enough he does it endlessly. But not hard to perfect guard or dodge it, once you get it. Great job on this no damage showcase.

The combat and monsters were great in Lament & Curse, but I felt they really dropped the ball on the metroid-style progression and level-design that the series was primarily known for. After this we got a couple more solid handheld entries w/ Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia, but then the series just devolved into a DMC/GoW clone (Lords of Shadow) when it was handed to western developers. And now Konami couldn't care less about it. So sad. Bring on Igarashi's Bloodstained though!
Damien John the thing is many fans often forget CLOS series was helm by Kojima despite the more 3rd person hack & slash style gameplay and developed by Mercurysteam. I myself actually enjoyed it even with the reboot storyline (which fans mainly hate it for the sake of old timeline), hardcore fans were too harsh on it. Now the franchise is dead and Konami downfall truly sealed it.
I actually liked lords of shadow. It was a nice re imagination of the belmont-dracula mythos with a good plot and good gameplay. Wouldve liked it more if it had rpg elements but as it was they were pretty solid games
Dianne Renard Yeah, I kinda the same. I think it would be a much better evolution for the series if CLOS was like a mix of Bloodborne + Nioh + DMC4. Basically a faster moves and intricate combos with a lot of rpg elements in a semi open world levels that layered both vertically and horizontally (yep, you definitely should be able to double jump). I think it one the reason that I find Nioh is a great mix of Ninja Gaiden/Onimusha & Souls-like type game. Also, Darksiders 2 kinda played like that but somethings are missing in my opinion.
Croz Raven kojima production was never involved in LoS's development, let alone kojima himself. in an interview it was explained that things went more or less like this: konami commissioned a castlevania game to mercurysteam but later revoked it due to how the prototype looked different, resulting in the project dropping the name castlevania. at a later stage of development, however, while cox was showcasing the game in a meeting, kojima was the one pointing out that the game resembled castlevania too much, and so the rest of konami staff attending at the meeting acknowledged and due to that, the project become part of the castlevania series once again. basically, LoS became a castlevania due to kojima's influence in konami, that's where the fabled collaboration started and ended

The series DID go in that direction. Lords of Shadow is just like GoW, DmC, Bayonetta. And although I enjoy that style of game, I feel it just become lost in the fray and lost it's identity. Much prefer the metroid/RPG style the franchise became known for (Symphony of the Night through to Order of Ecclesia) before they handed it over to western devs. Even Lament and (moreso) Curse, still had these elements.

Well played, a question though. Have you played the Crazy difficulty on the american version? I'm recalling my time playing through it and for some reason i do not recall having I-Frames on the dodges(I beat Crazy by basically learning how to P-Guard every attack). It might be i just never found the sweet spot or the frames are narrower then Curse of Darkness, but i wonder if different versions might have a few tweaks.
Super late here but yea dodges did indeed have I-frames, they were just a little weird sometimes, then again it's a little weird in curse of darkness as well lol

The elementals are optional hidden bosses, I didn't find any of them on my first playthrough. Second boss is the Medusa head

Order of Ecclesia looks really good. It is one of the times where Igarashi and Ayami really nailed the Renaissance-Baroque-Gothic-esque atmosphere.
Croz Raven kojima production was never involved in LoS's development, let alone kojima himself. in an interview it was explained that things went more or less like this: konami commissioned a castlevania game to mercurysteam but later revoked it due to how the prototype looked different, resulting in the project dropping the name castlevania. at a later stage of development, however, while cox was showcasing the game in a meeting, kojima was the one pointing out that the game resembled castlevania too much, and so the rest of konami staff attending at the meeting acknowledged and due to that, the project become part of the castlevania series once again. basically, LoS became a castlevania due to kojima's influence in konami, that's where the fabled collaboration started and ended

The series DID go in that direction. Lords of Shadow is just like GoW, DmC, Bayonetta. And although I enjoy that style of game, I feel it just become lost in the fray and lost it's identity.
Much prefer the metroid/RPG style the franchise became known for (Symphony of the Night through to Order of Ecclesia) before they handed it over to western devs. Even Lament and (moreso) Curse, still had these elements.

Well played, a question though. Have you played the Crazy difficulty on the american version? I'm recalling my time playing through it and for some reason i do not recall having I-Frames on the dodges(I beat Crazy by basically learning how to P-Guard every attack). It might be i just never found the sweet spot or the frames are narrower then Curse of Darkness, but i wonder if different versions might have a few tweaks.
Super late here but yea dodges did indeed have I-frames, they were just a little weird sometimes, then again it's a little weird in curse of darkness as well lol
I was surprised and thrilled to see they made reference to this game and Curse of Darkness in the Netflix series.
*WHY* THE FUCK *SO MANY DISLIKES* ? this game is great ! it has a dark and bit scary aura that fits perfectly for a Castlevania game !! (even more than Curse of Darkness and of course Lords of Shadows)

I can beat him but with last 3rd part of the big rocks blocking me from the flame projectiles but without the rocks I'd tried and I get axed 😂
