Survivor, anchored by Jimi’s vocals, are one of the reasons that made that decade awesome. I never saw the video until now-an excellent clip and track which stands the test of time. @keithchristopher4516 Then you should watch the live video for "Everlasting " Survivor was so underrated! I miss the 80s so much, but I guess every generation believes their's was the best, and to them, it probably was. The 80s were just so iconic with music, and nearly everything in my playlist is all 80s. Jimi Jameson was a legend! He never missed a note. Absolutely, perfect pitch, and oh, so easy on the eyes!😂
All decades had their great sounds. Older generations would swear by the big bands, younger generations would swear by Elvis and his contemporaries. The 60s, 70s, and 80s all have their defenders. As for me, I grew up in the 60's and 70s. But I have learned to appreciate music from different eras.
+Jay Billings +Jay Billings Omg you are so lucky to have known him! I would have given anything to meet him and see Survivor and Jimi in concert. I love him and miss him so much! RIP sweet angel Jimi! 💔💔
+mitch1835 Yes, indeed. Steve Perry and Jimi Jamison probably both have the same voice type which is tenor, and both infuse emotion into every song they sing. But RIP Jimi.
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor and IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.
@rustyking8783 -- Totally agree --- check out "Man Against the World", if you haven't already, that one really showcases Jimi's beautiful voice, & amazing range.... also, look for an interview with him here on YT, I think it's called "Music Legends", a series of about 12 short videos, you can pick any of them -- it's so wild to hear his speaking voice, I never in a million years would have thought the guy in the interview & the guy singing, were the same person -- his normal voice was just that, "normal", with a soft Southern drawl (he was from Memphis). Just bizarre, but in a good way, if that makes sense.
Such a shame he passed away from a Meth induced stroke. This is one of my most favorite songs. Believe it or not, I used to call the local radio station, WKLT in Traverse City, Michigan & I could NEVER GET the long time employee, Terry Ray to play this song!!!🙄🙄🙄🙄
I saw these guys way way way back when they were the openers for Triumph. The show was in Dallas Texas. Their only hit of note was Poor Man's Son but it was a great performance. It wasn't long after that when they exploded on to the scene and I felt lucky to have seen them.
Jon Bruno Buffalo, NY isn't all about our 10 feet of Snow every winter & 4 lost Suberbowls & 1977 Blizzard. In 70s early 80s 10 years of Concerts 4 every summer at Bills Stadium. Rolling Stones played here 6 times. Bummer Led Zeppelin cancelled when Roberts son passed away in 1977. They got Allman Brothers & Lynyrd Skynyrd to play here. Also Country singer Alan Jackson. It was funny almost every Band opened saying HELLO BUFFALO. Not lying about our winter weather
This song is so beautiful I miss back when music sounded like this so much. None of us had a clue in the world that music was gonna turn out to be the way it is today. If I could relive the 80s I would do it in a heart beat!.
As much as I love, love, love 80's music, I have found some great music that is popular now. It's a few years old, but the Chelsea Dagger song is awesome! I like Courtney Barnet (probably spelled it wrong) singing a song, "I'm thinking of you, too...." Not sure of the actual title, but I love that song!
That's what I'm talking about. None of us had any idea or thought's about music changing like this. This was the style and we thought it was gonna be like this forever it seemed like. Now that we're here in the future, boy don't we wish it did. Heart beat, I'm looking for a heart beat. I loved that song btw. It was in the movie The Principal with Jim Belushi.
Probably my favorite Survivor song and video. So blessed to have grown up with this music. There has been nothing like it since. Sad that so many of the greats from that era are gone. It was truly a great time to be alive.
Beautifully stated, I couldn’t agree more. It was a magic time, just pure magic, and this song somehow makes my heart kind of hurt a little bit as I remember how beautiful it was. I was in elementary school at the time……just soaking it all in. Thanks for sharing, best wishes everybody. ❤️
MINE TOO!! I don't think the video quite does it justice. This song captures the wonderful experience of meeting someone and hitting it off so well you just can't wait to see each other again. The next day you can't stop thinking about that person. He(she) is excited too. If you connect after that and fall in love, euphoria! Music expresses emotions and we can sing along when expressing them is too risky. Play it loud and sing along! I bought it off iTunes!
You notice there were a lot less crime , less divorce and less domestic violence back in the 80s. Music can influence people to do great or horrible things. You listen to great music, you normally feel great, but if you listen to crappy music, you normally feel crappy.
I think it's safe to say that Survivor were the masters of the power ballad. I had no idea at the time just how great this music was. I miss the `80s SO much.
Here in Miami I sometimes go to a restaurant/pub that plays 80's music after 12 AM, but many of the patrons are ladies in their twenties. Simply Heaven!
+Chris Baker Stan Bush is the only one who could even come close to matching him in vocal style he should get with Survivor as their new lead singer :)
great group. Im 68, Im still stuck in the 60's & early 70's music,I like a lot of 80's too, lots of groups from the 60's & 70's are popular in the 80's, David Coverdale, used to sing lead vocals in Deep purple in the early 70's, Mellencamp, REO speedwagon, many others. they said in the 60's Rock & Roll will never die, listening to todays music sometimes I feel it was a lie, but I have over 500 of the ol songs from my past on a USB stick🤗
It's true! I am impressed by it...like built for commercials...hey its cheesy, but it's not depressingly bad 90s alt music of any stripe. Oh that was rough...some not all. Just sooooo serious this isnt its peppy!

The 80s were just so iconic with music, and nearly everything in my playlist is all 80s. Jimi Jameson was a legend! He never missed a note. Absolutely, perfect pitch, and oh, so easy on the eyes!😂
Agreed the 80s rocked
Anything before the 90s rocks!!! At least they play instruments unlike the 90s after ITS A SHAME
If you didn't lived in the Era of the 80 believe you don't know what you was missing especially the music 🎶
All decades had their great sounds. Older generations would swear by the big bands, younger generations would swear by Elvis and his contemporaries. The 60s, 70s, and 80s all have their defenders. As for me, I grew up in the 60's and 70s. But I have learned to appreciate music from different eras.
I was born in 78 but the 80 ,s was rockin no rock n roll was better than the 80,s
This song is liquid serotonin. Feels so good. 😊
I agree
Dopamine
OMG, yes!!!
Sums it up perfectly. In my top 10 favorite 80s tunes.
Good analogy
That boy was a damn good singer.
One of the greatest of all time. Glad to have known him. The World misses you Jimi
+Jay Billings +Jay Billings Omg you are so lucky to have known him! I would have given anything to meet him and see Survivor and Jimi in concert. I love him and miss him so much! RIP sweet angel Jimi! 💔💔
He sang the Baywatch theme song. I immediately recognised his distinctive voice.
Yeah....he really was.
and he was a really good looking man. likeable and intelligent.
Early 80's living and working in Cleveland, with my favorite company. Played this song MANY TIMES. Fond memories!
Two of the best voices in rock Steve Perry and Jimi , no autotune needed for these gentleman! R.I.P. JJ
Indeed♥
And Lou Gramm with Kevin Cronin too.
you are very correct
Easily the best. I can't believe Jimi's already been dead for a year. We lost 2 legends last year: Robin Williams and Jimi Jamison.
+mitch1835 Yes, indeed. Steve Perry and Jimi Jamison probably both have the same voice type which is tenor, and both infuse emotion into every song they sing. But RIP Jimi.
What a pure and clean voice. High and strong too. Rock vocals at its best. True artistry that takes us away.
Hundreds, even thousands of years from now…these songs and videos from the 80’s will be enjoyed by billions…many BILLIONS!!!
The 80s define what pure music was and the freedom to enjoy it and most importantly it gave you inspiration to live life and to love mankind
Never ever gets old.
a true classic never goes out of style ;)
My favorite vocalist of the era.
Right ☺
I always thought this song was corny until I fell in love for the first time at 60 years old. Now it makes sense.
The perfect american bands of the 80's....voice,era and music.
Hell Yes!!! One of the MANY great songs from Survivor. Strong in 2023:)
They don't make music like this anymore. This man could sing! So underrated! R.I.P. Jimi. Miss the 80's!
trgh4etj6 Trash music! My music is way better! ua-cam.com/video/-X0y2DfsKIo/v-deo.html
Love this song
Me too!❤
I can't hold back, High on you, The search is over....pretty epic start of an album
Oh my God the eighties were definitely the greatest Generation ever
I saw these guys way way way back when they were the openers for Triumph. The show was in Dallas Texas. Their only hit of note was Poor Man's Son but it was a great performance. It wasn't long after that when they exploded on to the scene and I felt lucky to have seen them.
Can't go back; damn it. BUT, music like this can take you back.
You got that right!
I can't go back either I was 14 back then got it love to go back still enjoy this today
Doesn’t it! I was living in Fl then! I’m there in my head!
I can't go back because I never left.
Keep coming back to this awesome Rocker, what a voice and I love this song. Thanks guy's
And to think That jimi did not wanted to be part of survivor!😏
This song is so beautiful I miss back when music sounded like this so much. None of us had a clue in the world that music was gonna turn out to be the way it is today. If I could relive the 80s I would do it in a heart beat!.
I've been saying this for a long time. The 80's clearly had the best music.
i agree, my city in late 70s 80s for 10 yrs had concert 4 times every summer at football stadium, all big time bands
Heartbeat - Don Johnson released in 1986. Your comment reminded me of this old gem!

@@DefeaterMann I'll be sure to never listen to yours. *Cranks up Survivor*
So right
This song like so many others that they have recorded is an absolute masterpiece. Jimi Jamison is one of the greatest singers in rock history.
Im totally agree!
2022, 4th day of a bout with the 'rona...the 80's were magical!
Jimi Jamison was an underrated singer and a genuinely nice guy. Rare.
One of the greatest songs of the 80s and my favorite Survivor song. This was a great band and what an awesome vocalist!
love it
Nice Laura! It totally embodies everything you said here.
r.i.p. jimi! gone but not forgotten!
I Love tbe eighties😀🍺🍻great song
You notice there were a lot less crime , less divorce and less domestic violence back in the 80s. Music can influence people to do great or horrible things. You listen to great music, you normally feel great, but if you listen to crappy music, you normally feel crappy.
I think it's safe to say that Survivor were the masters of the power ballad. I had no idea at the time just how great this music was. I miss the `80s SO much.
Here in Miami I sometimes go to a restaurant/pub that plays 80's music after 12 AM, but many of the patrons are ladies in their twenties. Simply Heaven!
More importantly, Jesus saves sinners. God bless you fellow rocker
My favorite Survivor song, and there were many. R. I. P. Both Stephen Elliot ( Base Guitar) & The legendary Jimmie Jamison ( Lead Vocals)
Yes, he's everybit as good a singer as SP but i didn't even know his name . Sad he's passed on 😢
Seriously they died? Owwwwwwww
@@Francloy1😢in 2014!
Before the fun tunes of Bon Jovi, we had the outrageously New and different fun tunes of Van Halen. Man did I love this band!
No denying, the Man had a "One of a kind" voice, And will be dearly missed. Great song!
+Chris Baker Stan Bush is the only one who could even come close to matching him in vocal style he should get with Survivor as their new lead singer :)

stage name I am still alive.
thanx to youtube....we can all relive out lives in the 80s!
+Lyanna zul Saw them in 05 with styx and REO , they still rocked
+dandj sheppard waaat!?…oh maaan.....:-):-P=-O
+Lyanna zul heard that
great group.
Who's listening to this greatness in 2020🤘🤘,,so thankful I got to grow up with music like this..💯💯
So much energy and passion to this music! Got me fired up in my late teens and again in my late 50’s!
Still listening going into 2021🤘❤
Yes I'm listening! Love these guys.
Meeeeeee ❤!!!
April 2021!
Great band RIP Jimmi
This might be the single most 80s thing I've ever heard in my life.
It's an excellent song.
DiamondAxeStudios video looks awesome
I am hooked
@@tiredcomet3828 I been hooked on this damn song for 34 years....
Very good.
It's true! I am impressed by it...like built for commercials...hey its cheesy, but it's not depressingly bad 90s alt music of any stripe. Oh that was rough...some not all. Just sooooo serious this isnt its peppy!
Heard this song in a gas mart yesterday but didn't know the band. Love this song.
2024 and song is still a banger
The 80s and the 60s were the best time for music
RIP Jimi Jamison. Great voice, great song.
