Just lost my wife of 33 years to Covid19 this was always my song to her. She stuck with me through the good times and the bad times. I feel truly lost without her. My search for love led me to her and to Jesus. She will live forever in my heart!
This was the song played at my father's funeral. He died on February 09, 2020, because of gastric cancer. This was his favorite song and he really liked singing this on karaoke. This song plays in my mind every time I miss him. May he rest in peace. Love you, Dad.
Had my son in '87, and because I wasn't in a place to be a hood father, his mother & I placed him for adoption. My girlfriend and i drifted apart, and lost track. Since October of 2020, our son has found both of us, brought us back together, and we're getting married soon ! LOVE WAS RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!!
I genuinely think that 80s were the golden decade of human kind, because there was this perfect balance between arts, technology, humanity, freedom and all the other good things, but now technology has taken over most of those beautiful things!
I can't believe this man died in 2014 and I did not hear of his passing in the news. I guess it was not a big deal for many people, but this band is part of our memories. I was a teen in the 80s and this band like the rest of the 80s bands holds a special place in my heart. I just wished this man had been honored in a different way at the time of his passing. RIP jimi jamison
Jimmi was a major part of my career as well. I never met him face to face but was supposed to make a song it rain with him 3 weeks before he died. I have a new song to honor him called it rains.

this is our love story. my husband was single until he was 59. i suffered trauma from a previous husband. he says he waited all those years for me. i am so blessed.
Thank you for sharing that. God bless you Debra, what a wonderful story. I am 53 and never married, had disappointment after disappointment. A lady at work once told me I would one day "save" someone... and I can only hope the story will be as you described.
I had a best friend named Ashley and she got me hooked on 80s and 90s songs. She died in a car accident our junior year. I never told her how much I loved her. This song reminds me of her. Dont take people for granted
Even though you may never have said the words, she knew how much you loved her by your company and attention. We feel for your loss but still can appreciate someone was able to connect with you at such a deep and profound level.
I know.I lost my best friend from high school. I just found out about it. Life is so fragile. Tell everyone you come in contact with that you love them, because you might not be able to again.
Just 2 minutes is all I ask. Just 2 minutes. It would be all I needed. And it would be worth all I had to give at that one any given moment. So many people I loved were still here. They had no idea what they meant to me. I had no idea. These songs are so powerful.
The love of my life and I divorced in 2007. I moved to North Carolina, she stayed in California. I returned to California in 2010, after a year in New York. I couldn't shake her, and was able to express that every weekend, when she would get the kids. In 2016, after 9 years apart, we made a commitment to never let the small things tears us apart again and are now living this song. I think this song is what we all hope for....to no longer have to search for the love of our lives. Dude had an amazing voice, and I didnt realize he passed. I grew up in the 80's and it really hits home all the people that are no longer here. Puts it into perspective how short life is and how important it is hold on to the things that are irreplaceable in our lives. Love ya Andrea...more than you could ever know.
You have what so many can only dream about, including myself, companionship and love. This song has a good message, but your comment speaks about more then a "message", it speaks of true good fortune. I read so many sad and lonely testimonials on these music channels, even have left a few myself, lol. It was nice to read one where someone received a second chance, recognized it for what it was and is happily living it. I hope you recognize how truly fortunate you really are, you probably do. I wish you and your family only the very best, please keep your fingers crossed for the rest of us. All encompassing loneliness is a horror to live with and we can use all the "well wishes" we can get. ☮️
This takes me back to my high school days - I wanted to dance to this song with a girl I had a crush on... but she was dating someone else... Today, I'm married to that girl.
I'm sure you agree , that it was the best time to be alive! When we were Young and we never realized we were making history and we were living through what is probably the best decade of the whole 20th century next to the 50s.
The search is over! But he died after 3 years of our marriage.😭 Still the memories lingers on, everytime I heard this song it brings me back lots of memories in my past ❤️🌹
Jimi Jamison is sorely missed. His voice was comparable to Perry's. What a waste of talent and life....saw these guys with REO at San Diego sports arena back in the day...those times are gone.
In 8th grade my girlfriend and I loved this song, we were going to be together forever. That Friday after school we gave each other a kiss and hug, and told each other we loved each other. She was going on a family vacation for a week, unfortunately her and 5 other family members lost their life in a horrible car accident. I'm 53 now and I think about her everyday of my life, this song was our song❤
You’re right. I guess that’s why we still listen to these songs today….because we can’t find anything close that makes us feel a certain way….that brings you back to a time gone by.
This might not be the best-known Survivor song but it's one hell of a love ballad, and when you find the one true love of your life you'll think of this song.
Right? It had been years since I'd last heard this, but I heard it on the radio the other day and it gave me chills. I had to look up the history of the band (dear lord that was complicated, lol) - I didn't have the internet when I was listening to this stuff all the time, haha. I'd literally never even know what Jimi looked like! But his voice was unforgettable. One of my favorites growing up for sure...absolutely timeless.
Love survivor love their song eye of the tiger there's just something about this song that hits home lost my angel 😇 9 yrs ago she told me don't give up she would send me someone I am now remarried thanks to her the search is now over thank you to my angel in heaven and on earth 😊❤
This exact same thing happened to my husband and I. We have been back together 7 years next month, and married for 5 years in October. This song was what we walked out of our wedding ceremony to.
It's honestly nice to hear that some people can find their happy ending. I foolishly waited too long to tell my dream girl how much she meant to me (and I had every opportunity, we hung out and talked so often). She got a boyfriend and eventually married (to someone else) two years later. I never loved anyone after her; that was 13 years ago. Lesson to everyone, NEVER wait to tell someone how much they mean to you.
Yeah, Jimi had a great voice and the Survivor songs were a perfect showcase for his singing. It was a perfect blend of singing and the quality of the songs.
Jimi Jamison and Survivor are my Number 1 of all time, this man has a passion like no other, he sang his heart out and sang since day 1 until he past in 2014 Jimi will always be KING and no one will ever replace him. Jimi will always and forever be apart of my family, a true voice of HEAVEN Jimi we all miss you so much keep on singing up there JUST BEYOND THE CLOUDS . LOTS OF LOVE. 💙💖🐅

This song has the most beautiful words to any song lve heard since it first came out. Jimi Jamison voice is so beautiful and powerful it's so perfect for this song. I never get tired of listening to it. Know one will ever sing this song better than him The Search is Over Jimi Jamison you are forever loved and missed. You are the air that I breathe 💓💓.2021 I,m always here.
When I look into your eyes, I can see forever... Astonishing. Simply genius. A kind of singer born only once in a lifetime. RIP Jimi. Thank you for the songs that shaped the 80's.
Jim Peterik, co-writer of this song and former keyboardist of Survivor, is still writing songs. He has been writing/co-writing songs for nearly 60 years. He co-wrote several songs with Dennis DeYoung, for DeYoung's 2 very recent albums. DeYoung still has a fantastic singing voice. Peterik's Tigress album comes out Friday and features songs he wrote/co-wrote as sung by female singers. And one of Jimi Jamison's best vocal performances, imo, was on the song "Alive" which Jim Peterik co-wrote with the southern rock Van Zant brothers.
The song "Alive" was inspired by a rough and scary airplane ride that Peterik had when on his way to visiting the Van Zant brothers to co-write with. Of course, the Van Zant brothers lost their brother in a tragic airplane crash. The song would also make a fitting theme song for this pandemic.
Great song but there is still a lot of good music and artists out there. Sometimes I think I've run my course and I'll never find another song that reaches into my heart and all of a sudden UA-cam throws me something new to listen to or something that I never heard before. Like Travis Tritt's "ANYMORE' or Kevin Sharps "NOBODY KNOWS" & Finbar Furey's " SWEET SIXTEEN" and "THIS IS THE LAST LOVE SONG I WILL EVER SING TO YOU" and they stick in my head and remind me of my wife who I lost last year because of something I said that made her leave. and i know i will never ever love like that again. My search is over because I know I would always compare anyone new to what I had with her and that wouldn't be fair to someone else, and I made the mistake of not realizing she was right here with me all the time. 💔
This is the only way I can be back in time,I just lay down ,turn off the lights and listen to my favorite 70s 80s music until I fall asleep, wishing to wake up back in those days
This man is so underrated, I just hope he wasn't underpaid. What a gift to all of us. It's 2020 and his voice popped in my head. RIP Jimi and thank you for sharing so many great songs not to mention all of the Baywatch stuff. You could sing in another language and it would sound beautiful as well.
@@Faltor895 yeah I heard him say that too. He was worth a hell of a lot more. Jimi worked hard all of his life. Scotty Brothers robbed Jimi and the whole Survivor group. I wonder if that's why he still toured so much. Even up till the very end of his life. He was still Rocken hard. Jimi deserved much better than he got. I love you Jimi you were a great man ❣️😍😍😍😭😭 forever.
I am Jimi's age so we grew up going through the 60's as teens, having lived through the 60',70' and 80's music I saw it all. He was a truly gifted artist and singer. This song says it all, met my wife in the 80's and we are still together. I am a guitarist but wish I had his voice.
This was the first song my wife and I danced to at our wedding reception. I searched for external gratification all my life up until I met her. When I did, the search was truly over. I had met my soul mate. This seemed the ideal song to express that. I still remember it like it was yesterday, and it still brings a tear of joy to my eyes. That was truly my greatest day. This sing brings it all back.
Where have all the beauty of life gone? Genuine love. Genuine people. True love. 80's best times of my life. I love to close my eyes as I listen to these songs and take a walk down memory lane....
The Search is Not Yet Over for those who are still searching. The Search is Over for those who don't search anymore because they are lucky enough to have the right one. One of my favorite songs, still one of the Top Hits until now.
Pam, I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom also, in August, 2018, and this song also makes me think of her. Makes me wish I could go way back to when the song came out, so I would have many years left with her and I could really spoil and appreciate her like never before.
Everyone needs to watch this awesome powerhouse vocalist sing this live. I was truly shocked at how perfectly he performs this. Jimi Jamison was a very gifted artist, and taken way too soon. R.I.P.
Jim Peterik, who co-wrote this song and was the co-founder and keyboardist of Survivor, has been working on four new albums in the past year. 1) His new World Stage album which has a previously unreleased Jimi Jamison song on it. 2) He co-wrote songs with Dennis DeYoung for Deyoung's upcoming solo album. One of which is on the World Stage album. 3) He co-wrote songs with .38 Special for their upcoming new album. One of which is on the World stage album - Winds of Change ---- and 4) He is doing a new Ides of March album, as well. The last Pride of Lions album featuring his songs came out in 2017.
This is our song, played it for my wife at a crucial moment in our lives, and will forever remain in our heart and souls till our death. Today is our 28th anniversary, so it means a lot to us, all the lyrics seem to be written for us. Thank you guys... they don't do music like this anymore.
Jimi Jameson is so under rated as a singer. Not only could the man sing but he was easy on the ryes. Anyone who met him said he was a kind and very sweet man. Rest in Peace Jimi. Your voice is forever in our hearts.
I love coming back to the comments here from time to time and reading all of the stories. It’s empowering and uplifting. I hope those who feel alone can find just one beacon on here to keep fighting and keep searching.

I was living for a dream loving for a moment. Jimi Jamison your voice was so intoxicating. I am forever High on You. When you sing The Search is Over l believe you. You will always be my dream guy 💕💕😉💋.
This song always takes me back to my high school days. There was a girl who I absolutely loved. But because of my shyness I didn't ask her out. Listening to this song makes me think maybe if I had asked her out then I wouldn't have gone through life as a loner.
Some of us did what you did and left us broken hearted. You may never know what the other choice would have ended your life any other way, loner or not (I'm a loner as well) , but somehow I find ways to just accept the deicisons I made in the past thats put me whwre im at now. It's always nice cuz sometimes in my dreams I get to live a different kind of life and that alone I'm thankful for waking up in the morning that I still have the memories I've had growing up. I'm content and I can tolerate being happy cuz there's nothing else I can do but that. Be happy, life is wonderful beautiful and be grateful. Take care. This song is really special
I am so grateful for these songs and videos from the 80's. As a kid living in an abusive household, MTV and the music was my escape from the hell I lived in. You would think these songs and videos would bring back bad memories but it's just the opposite, I had this album on CD among many others and would get lost in them. Thank god for music. RIP Jimmy.
Weep for you and me and all the other lonely frightened children from such a household. But how forchunate we have had these beautiful songs and great singers. They kept my company and gave me so much comfort in my teenage time, like I could live in a fantasy dream forever. Thank Jimi for this everlasting wonderful song, my favourite. I miss Jimi, RIP .Hope to meet him somewhere in heaven or another life, even just relation of a singer and fans far distance from each other like in this life, I'll be satisfied with that I never get tired of listening to his songs.
My wife and I married in 2002 and this was our wedding song. I was 27. She was my first and only girlfriend, and now my wife. Been happily married ever since and I thank God everyday for having her in my life. This beautiful song brings back so many wonderful memories and emotions.
This song is a part of my life. I grew up in the inner city listening to mostly funk and R&B. Then in the eighties I met a girl who loved me, but I didn't love her back the same at first. As time went by looking for love in all the wrong places we parted ways. Then in 2015 I talked to an old friend of mine and he asked me if I knew she had passed away. I was instantly in uncontrollable tears because I realized that since our relationship no other woman had loved me like she did, the little things she would do to make me happy. I realized how much I had taken her for granted. I am still heartbroken at the fact that I never really got to tell her how much she meant to me, and to thank her for loving me like no other woman has.The search was over, she was right before my eyes. Problem was, I just didn't know it at that time. Thanks Survivor for making this beautiful song that this young man from the hood could relate to, it's almost as if the song was written for me. RIP Anita Denise Vaughn 😢
This is very sad. My thoughts are with you....I wish you would have known and loved her the way she loved you. But trust, God is protecting her in his arms and no matter our faults or flaws, he will help you through any gilt or sorrow. May you know that guilt is a heavy burden to bear. Pray and give it to God and love others like Anita did.
My God, but what a beautiful and moving song. You can't listen to it without feeling nostalgia and tenderness gushing out of every pore. Simply wonderful. I love the 80s
Nunca más fui feliz ni ame nadie como a ella aquel 15 de abril de 1989 Dios dame la posibilidad de retroceder el tiempo 33 años atrás xa no cometer esos errores q me apartaron de ella y de mi felicidadad
It really is. I cried a little when I heard about it... I cried listening to this song too, but that wasn't anything to do with anyone's death, just because of how emotional the song is
I remember listening to this song back when i was a freshman in 1985. I was having dreams about a girl I wanted to ask out. It gave me the courage to ask her if she would go on a movie date with me. She agreed and we went out for most of the school year. Memories....
I miss Jimi and all the other beautiful musicians we have lost far to soon. God be with them and with all of humanity we have lost Just knowing I am old now and my days are limited makes me sad. Dear Lord, please let there be 60's, 70's and 80's bands in Heaven. Amen
Jim Peterik, the co-worker of this song has written/co-written several great songs since leaving Survivor. His group, Pride of Lions, released a new album this month.

I'm 53 now and I think about her everyday of my life, this song was our song❤
Wow! Sad story! You never know what time could bring!
Terribly Sorry for your loss !!

So very sorry. 🌹
Omg such a sad sad story. Prayers for you and your family AMEN
people don't make amazing songs like this anymore :(
Yeah, everyone uses autotune nowadays. It sucks.
Totally agree with you
Not just that, no many singers like him. What a privileged voice.
You’re right. I guess that’s why we still listen to these songs today….because we can’t find anything close that makes us feel a certain way….that brings you back to a time gone by.
I miss real music like this
This might not be the best-known Survivor song but it's one hell of a love ballad, and when you find the one true love of your life you'll think of this song.
Survivor was criminally underrated....
Same with harem scarem
Also Cinderella
i don't think so
Rocky would beg to differ lady
Agreed
I'm honored to have grown up in the 80's.
THE GREATEST DECADE OF MUSIC EVER!!!
70's to 77 best years of my life!!!!!!!
Me too....the best decade for music. IMHO of course lol
@@robcyphers9155 no not opinion, facts are facts
I miss everything about the 80s.
It was decadence done with balance. We still had a sense of morals back then.
So underrated. His voice was phenomenal.
Yeah, it would be between Jimi and Roy Khan (ex-Kamelot) for favorite male singer, for me, personally.
RIP..... Jimmy what a voice !

I love this Group. 1 of my top 5.
A true 80s will always be an 80s. No matter what, we still have our 80s to fall back on
Who needs todays Mtv? I make Playlists of 80s tunes, some with Martha Quinn and Mtv intros. I basically watch Mtv every day. ✌️
Love survivor love their song eye of the tiger there's just something about this song that hits home lost my angel 😇 9 yrs ago she told me don't give up she would send me someone I am now remarried thanks to her the search is now over thank you to my angel in heaven and on earth 😊❤
52, here! 👍
One of the greatest songs of the 80's by Survivor..R.I.P. Jimi Jamison you're voice was remarkable and you are deeply missed..
Got back with my high school sweetheart. Sad I lost 25 years without her, but I’ll never let her go again. The search is FINALLY over...
My dream girl I chased since 6th grade way back in the 80s and we're together now. after 35 years...Never gave up hope.
This exact same thing happened to my husband and I. We have been back together 7 years next month, and married for 5 years in October. This song was what we walked out of our wedding ceremony to.
Awesome
It's honestly nice to hear that some people can find their happy ending. I foolishly waited too long to tell my dream girl how much she meant to me (and I had every opportunity, we hung out and talked so often). She got a boyfriend and eventually married (to someone else) two years later. I never loved anyone after her; that was 13 years ago. Lesson to everyone, NEVER wait to tell someone how much they mean to you.

"The Search Is Over"
How can I convince you
What you see is real
Who am I to blame you
For doubting what you feel
I was always reachin'
You were just a girl I knew
I took for granted
The friend I had in you
I was living for a dream
Loving for a moment
Taking on the world
That was just my style
Now I look into your eyes
I can see forever
The search is over
You were with me all the while
Can we last forever
Will we fall apart
At times it's so confusing
The questions of the heart
You followed me through changes
And patiently you'd wait
'Till I came to my senses through
Some miracle of fate
I was living for a dream
Loving for a moment
Taking on the world
That was just my style
Now I look into your eyes
I can see forever
The search is over
You were with me all the while
Now the miles stretch out behind me
Loves that I have lost
Broken hearts lie, victims of the game
Then good luck, it finally struck
Like lighting from the blue
Every highway's leading me back to you
Now at last I hold you
Now all is said and done
The search has come full circle
Our destinies are one
So if you ever loved me
Show me that you give a damn
You'll know for certain
The man I really am
I was living for a dream
Loving for a moment
Taking on the world
That was just my style
Then I touched your hand
I could hear you whisper
The search is over
Love was right before my eyes

80s back when music had real meaning & feelings.
Being a teenager in the 80s was great
My mom was a teen in the 80 im glad i wasnt alive then cept the music

One of which is on the World Stage album. 3) He co-wrote songs with .38 Special for their upcoming new album. One of which is on the World stage album - Winds of Change ---- and 4) He is doing a new Ides of March album, as well. The last Pride of Lions album featuring his songs came out in 2017.

80's ballads are fantastic! I'm so happy I got to experience those times.
This song always takes me back to my high school days. There was a girl who I absolutely loved. But because of my shyness I didn't ask her out. Listening to this song makes me think maybe if I had asked her out then I wouldn't have gone through life as a loner.
Tony, millions of us men have been there, done that!!
