I've heard talk of blind devotion
Lovers through thick and thin
Lives touched with real emotion
Faithful till the bitter end
Now I must admit that the story's attractive

I need to prove to myself

ME!!! So stuck on this song! 😊
This song is as close to perfection as you can get. Could listen to it all day long. Magical! So good.
1986
Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow): "I had seen Jimi in Survivor and was very impressed. I remember going down to Tennessee to meet him and I really liked him as a person. He then came up to try out with Deep Purple. We did one song, I think it was 'Going Down' and he was so good I immediately stopped playing and just said, 'You're in!' He said, 'Don't you want to do more songs?' I said, 'No, you are so damn good, I know that you are perfect for the job.' We went out and celebrated at a restaurant. I was full of ideas due to his melodic, soulful voice, and he could improvise much better than a lot of singers I knew so he had every aspect I was looking for in a singer. Very, very nice guy. Very humble. Unfortunately, two weeks later, we were told he couldn't join the band. We never found out why. I think it had something to do with the management. I was surprised and saddened by what happened, and it was a mystery to me what had gone down. It was a bad moment for me. I rated him as one of the top singers in the country."
Jimi is great but I can't really imagine him singing for Deep Purple even though he was more than competent. Then again, Ritchie Blackmore is a virtuoso level musician who knows the laws and theory of music like the back of his hand so it's very difficult to argue with his judgement of when he stumbled upon great musical talent.
Jimmi without a doubt one of the all time greatest vocalists! You instantly know it's him singing like his lyrics its the singer not the song!
why this song so good? great lyrics, great voice.
A Man From 80s And sung with such heart.
I agree Keyth Danielsen
great songwriters and legendary VOICE.
Survivor one of the greatest bands ever

RIP Jimi Jamison (August 23, 1951 - September 1, 2014), aged 63
You will be remembered as a legend
What an amazing voice….. one of the top from the 70s-90s time frame
Jimmy Jamison and Steve Perry. Hands down, we're the best.
Brad Delp over Perry.
I agree, and I think this song would have been HUGE'ER if not for the competing, Whitesnake song of the same title. When you say, "Is This Love" everyone immediately goes, "I love David coverdale".
I hate jim passed
Oh my word yesssss Steve Perry forever. So similar and so different. Love them both
In that order!
RIP Jimi Jamison. One of the best!
Jim Jamison had strong ties to my hometown, Dyersburg, Tn. When I worked at Dburd Intermediate Sch, the asst principal told me stories Jim would pull during lunch when they both attended Dburg High Sch.
This should be ranked as their #1 song ever.... crisp & clean, just flawless.
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor and IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.
Very good use of the synths
@@willritter40761986
Oh yeah, Whitesnake had an Is this Love in 1987. Completely different song. Survivor's song was released in October 1986.
I don't like a lot of late 90's and up music. I like 70's and 80's music, and 50's and 60's, and maybe some early 90's.
Someone in 2024 ?? Please

Immortal classic ❤💪🏽😎
Me! 🙌🙌🙌
It really is sad you won't hear this on a 80s station all you hear by survivor is eye of the tiger they have better songs like this.
Makes me so sad.these were best songs ever
@patrickshollywoodtv481 rarely it's played in the 80's channel on sirrusxm, as I said, rarely.
Rip JimiJamison , his voice and vocals was phenomenal....
I came close to seeing him live. Survivor had booked a show in London, their first ever show in the UK. Ironically they did some recordings from When Seconds Count in London back in 1986.
But it was finally happening. Many of us AOR fans were seeing Survivor.
Jimi then unfortunately passed away and then that gig was cancelled. It was devastating since Jimi was so dear to us and that we would never get to see him live. The show that never was. Still, the love for Survivor and Jimi will always remain.
@@vinaymulukutla358😢i khow jimi was very loved in your country we all miss jimi i love him forever!💕💓♥️💛
Jimi Jamison would have been a perfect lead singer for Journey.

Absolutely👍😊
I would put money down if the radio played this song!! The people would want it played again!! Too many lost souls anymore.
Why oh why can’t music be this great again? I sure miss the days of pure talent and non digitalized voices with true power and clarity. I’m so grateful to be of the generation that got to experience this first hand.
Agree brother....Agree !
Those were great times !
The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars these are actually good singers today, I'm sorry but the fact is that those types of artist where like that because they lived in a specific period, time changes and music too, don't get me wrong i love this music and I'm a 20 y.o. exactly like i love Lili Marlene Dietrich or Aretha Franklin.
Amen
@@zephyros0946 sorry but you had to be there in the 1980s to completely understand where he is coming from. It's not there ain't a few good singers now, it's the way the music sounds and produced. Just not organic or natural enough. Produced on computers and not live in actual studios. Plus this generation acts like rock music doesn't even exist anymore on mainstream radio. It sucks. 70s 80s and 90s forever
Absolutely agreed
This is Survivor's final top 10 hit in 1987. They didn't know that at the time. Let's cherish Jim Jamison's voice forever, he's gone but his music will stay with us. Truly underrated lead singer but a great one
Having your first kiss to this song ..... priceless.....living through the 80's was the best!
Yep...that would be a priceless moment to have with this song. Mine was to Computer Love by Kraftwerk.
Ridiculously underrated vocalist and band. These guys deserve the respect a lot of other 80s bands get.
Yeyyaa!!!
one of the best actually

True
One of the best bands. Some people think they’re a one hit wonder, but I have the whole album of Too Hot to Sleep on my playlist. I grew up on Survivor!
Listening to Survivor is like stepping into a time warp that takes me directly back to when I was 10 yrs old (1986) and realized what GOOD MUSIC actually was. I'll NEVER FORGET the 80's!!!!
Happy memories of the 80's is all thats getting me through these crazy days were in. ROCK ON :)
I totally agree with you FOREVER 80'
I was the same age as well. God I miss it.
Me too! I was 9. Remembering being In boy scouts, ⚽️ soccer.
Love it - so called “bicentennial baby” here too. It really was a special time for music and culture - the pinnacle of pre-internet technological society.
Jimi Jameson is my favorite vocalist....underrated. Every tune with Jameson was top notch
Survivor deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for sure.✌🏽

Absolutely!!! 👍
Jus, doooitt, dammit!!!
Not a chance bruuuh

There is perfection in every instrument and every note played here. Drums, guitars vocals etc oh my god. And bridge and solo just blend so well together its ridiculous. Best of the best. RIP Jimi.
Survivor was Epic. Way underrated IMO
Could not agree more. Coming to realize that Frankie was a damn guitar HERO. Instead of going full wank he jumps in at just the right time so the guitar is almost singing back-up for Jimi. It's brilliant.
This song is what made the 80s what it was. Great decade for music.
There will NEVER be another decade for music like the 1980's, it's just not possible!! Glad I turned 15 in 1980 and got to experience it all first hand, and live!!! What a magical time to be alive, as every genre of music was just exploding with hit after hit after hit!!!!
@@scotabot7826 there is actually alot of great modern bands / artist they are not on the radio though - , the midnight , fm84 , lebrock , ollie wride , ultraboss , josh dally the list goes on and on retrowave style music has hit after hit but most kids listen to rap or radio pop these days

Jimmy definitely had a timeless voice . He could keep up with Steve Perry in his prime. Rip JJ 🙏
Yes he reminds me of Steve perry very similar voices both very talented
But Steve Perry doesn’t have any good songs to sing...
You are so right. I still listen to both
You might also enjoy Dan Vasc. He's covered both Journey and Survivor songs wonderfully! He also has original stuff under the band name Fearless.
His voice doesn't have the range of Perry, but his tone is definitely similar. He was very underrated as a singer
Man I miss Survivor! This group was such a big part of my childhood. Everywhere you went there was Survivor. Good memories.

"Is This Love"
I've heard talk of blind devotion
Lovers through thick and thin
Lives touched with real emotion
Faithful till the bitter end
Now I must admit that the story's attractive
I've lost in far too many affairs
I've seen all the pain that the morning can bring
I need to prove to myself
This is more than a crush
Can you convince me
It's not just a physical rush
Is this love that I'm feelin'
Is this love that's been keepin' me up all night
Is this love that I'm feelin'
Is this love
So many nights in blind confusion
I've walked the line of love
We reach out in disillusion
When one night isn't nearly enough
Now I'd like to know that for once in my life
I'm sure of what tomorrow may bring
I've heard all your talk
Can I take it to heart
Now look me straight in the eye
'Cause tonight is the night
We've got to ask each other
If the moment is right
Is this love that I'm feelin'
Is this love that's been keepin' me up all night
Is this love that I'm feelin'
Is this love
I've tread those mean streets
Blind alleys where the currency of love changes hands
All touch, no feeling
Just another one night stand
I need to know that there's someone who cares
Could you be the angel to answer my prayers
Is this love that I'm feelin'

Not at all, and nothing ever will come close. It should be called The Love Decade.
Thanks Jimi for the great love songs you gave us. Rock In Peace, legend.
To think that this wasn't even a big hit for them. It's a brilliant tune, very melodic and full of punch.
It was their 5th biggest hit of their career on the Billboard Charts peaking at #9. Sure Eye of The Tiger #1, Burning Heart #2, The Search is Over #4 and High on You #8 were their biggest hits, but this was in the top 5 of charting songs.

when music was music
Right
+Carlitos Lexman The music back then came from the heart & soul of real talented artists, sharing their thoughts and emotions with the world, that's why it's so good. Todays music is meaningless and cold, no wonder, it's computer generated and enhanced with autotune. There are some things that machines can't do better than humans. ☺
+Vernostonus I just have to agree with you every bit. The music back then was pure talent and skill. Nowadays, music is, well, as you said, cold. I'm happy you feel the same way I do. 😳👼
of course I not want to be negative with the current music there are always songs that mark in childhood and teenage years as today will mark Adele Bruno Mars and Maroon 5 for some people and I feel good and I respect ..but in expample.. 80 100 % of artists 95% were stunning and have left a great legacy but today 100% of artists only 20% could leave some legacy ..
