hello john, good to see you out again. really well done catching those sole, I know exactly where you were. we used to have eel nets just by that outlet back in the early sixties. we got eels , flounder , dabs and tons of brown shrimps. I was really surprized with those sole. the river was so polluted then. when I was a kid. the pumping station at the bottom of harrow street chucked out millions of tons of raw sewerage into the humber without any consideration to the environment or health and safety. them were the days!!! I used to know a man from the early 80s we knew him as the Eel man he used to have his nets at the end of Hull Docks wall near the old barge me and my brother fished off when we was kids. Going back 30 years me and a friend were fishing near Sainsbury’s near Hessle and had a bite that nearly took the rod, I struck and what ever it was started swimming against the tide and was stripping line. I didn’t land it and never knew what it could have been but I will never forget. We also found a live grenade at Hessle haven and that got the workers at dunstans an afternoon off while bomb disposal blew it up. Great video thanks for posting.

I just made a couple of changes to my Tope Rig I've reduced the size of the hook slightly using 4/0 and 3/0 circle hook on a pully rig. The fish which was caught this year and the ones at East Newton where caught on full Squid. Regarding the Sole Rig I do like the small booms and light hook links and the very small very fine wire hooks they do like old smelly black lug.
I do like fish at Hessle Forshore it can fish well from End of August to September.

One of my favourite places to fish ,the king rag are good bait there I find the maddies catch lots of small flounders well done 👍
