Undisputed number one rookie season. Screw Randy moss and his 17 touchdowns, Ben came in and went undefeated until the AFC championship game that’s unequivocally the best rookie season any player has ever had.
It’s amazing how pittsburgh fans will fight for tomlin when their expectations should be higher. If it wasn’t for cowher building this team, tomlin would have never seen a Super Bowl!
I loved Tomlin over the first 5 seasons or so. And I've been done with him for about the last 5 seasons. I still think he's a good coach; I just think he's run his course in Pittsburgh. He's gotten too comfortable with "not losing". A coach, like a team, needs a certain "edge" to win in all. I feel like he's lost that edge.
@@mcmillenandwife yea here’s my thing tho. He has had a few 8-8 seasons. To me that is not a winning season. Your the same as you were at the beginning. In the playoffs he’s actually below .500. That says something about how you measure up to good teams. How many games did he win that could of went either way. He’s an ok coach at best, but not good enough to coach a team like the Steelers. Just my opinion tho, I hope he proves me wrong.
@@devilsrage-vt4hp I agree. "Not losing" doesn't equal winning, and that's my problem with Tomlin. Tomlin had a Hall of Fame QB for 15 years and won 1 Super Bowl. Can you imagine if Cowher had Ben for the 15 year duration of his career? There's a good chance we'd have 8 Lombardi's right now, not 6.
Yeah, I hated losing Plax to the Giants. Of course, he caught the TD pass that ended New England's bid for a perfect season in Super Bowl XLII. :) Then he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a NYC nightclub and went to jail for 20 friggin' months. What a bullshit sentence... they ruined the guy's life. I'm not saying the guy was an angel, but for crying out loud... 20 months??? If memory serves, he didn't even get to see the birth of his child. Anyway, he eventually came back and signed with the Steelers in 2012, but it didn't amount to anything. He had a handful of receptions and was done. But you're right, he was a beast in his prime.
Jeez 20 months? Having a bullet in his foot wasn’t punishment enough? Lol. But yeah I forgot he had that TD in the super bowl. Gets very overshadowed by the Tyree catch
Keep these things in mind when assessing Big Ben's incomparable rookie season. Miami went to the super bowl the year before Marino's rookie season and of course, the Steelers were 6-10 the year before Ben's rookie season. The Steelers did NOT have a good running game in Ben's rookie season. In fact they had one of the worst. They were 19th in rushing Y/A. Just because you run a lot which Pittsburgh did more that any other team that year, doesn't mean you are good at it. Big Ben was the best at big plays, 3rd down & 4th qtr comebacks that season.
For all you PItt fans and other detractors, keep in mind that nobody has seen every play that every QB has made. So there is no way anyone can say for sure who is the most disciplined or consistently good on a play by play basis. The only basis one can judge all QBs is game by game & season by season. In that context, Big Ben is as consistently good as any QB in pro history with the exception of Otto Graham. That's, of course, taking into account all the different things Roethlisberger can and does do well which almost all other QBs can't match.
That year he beat both undefeated teams in back to back weeks. (New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles) That Steelers team was good that year and should have went to the Superbowl but they decided to play terrible in the AFC Title game against New England.
This video only includes his rookie season STARTS, but in hindsight, I wish I had included highlights from that game as well because he did have a few Ben "moments" in that one.

I have to look it up to be sure, but I think that was the best rookie QB stats ever, at least in the W/L perspective.
Hes gonna be busy holding Brady's jock in his retirement.
What a great QB
Great work as always, Tim. Thanks. Could you please make in the near future a Terry Bradshaw's career highlights video?
There's a Bradshaw tribute on our site now (Best Bad Weather QB Ever). www.mcmillenandwife.com/Bradshaw_Bad_Weather_QB.html. I've uploaded it to UA-cam, but they immediately block it.
How does someone the size of a tight end, the speed and mobility of an offensive line coach, the experience of a rookie and the looks of a hayseed, get away with all that Houdini magic?!
He ran a 4.7 lol definitely not OL speed
Undisputed number one rookie season. Screw Randy moss and his 17 touchdowns, Ben came in and went undefeated until the AFC championship game that’s unequivocally the best rookie season any player has ever had.
The play at 13:15 is sick
Whoever had burress on their fantasy team in that Cleveland game must bring back good times
The only QB to do this ish right here my guy
Just look at the offensive sets. No more than 3 receivers, fullback and running back. We need to get back to it.
Forgot how good Plaxico was here.
Top 5 quarter back of all time
Man plaxico burress was a beast what ever happened to him
Yeah, I hated losing Plax to the Giants.
That OLine was 🔥
Won his first 15 games as a starter. Incredible
These cut scenes got me thinking my phone freezing 😂
Keep these things in mind when assessing Big Ben's incomparable rookie season. Miami went to the super bowl the year before Marino's rookie season and of course, the Steelers were 6-10 the year before Ben's rookie season. The Steelers did NOT have a good running game in Ben's rookie season. In fact they had one of the worst. They were 19th in rushing Y/A. Just because you run a lot which Pittsburgh did more that any other team that year, doesn't mean you are good at it. Big Ben was the best at big plays, 3rd down & 4th qtr comebacks that season.
Truth, nobodyaskedbut
Nice block by Hines 9:09
Top 5 all time
For all you PItt fans and other detractors, keep in mind that nobody has seen every play that every QB has made.
This Kid can play....
I know, I love that line. 👍🏻
That year he beat both undefeated teams in back to back weeks. (New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles) That Steelers team was good that year and should have went to the Superbowl but they decided to play terrible in the AFC Title game against New England.
They should of lost to the Jets as well.
You mean the Patriots cheated and robbed him of a win.
🐐
💪🏻
Is BigBen a first ballad hof'er?
Any chance you have the 2005 Colts vs Steelers game?
NFL Matchup Highlights, yep. It’s on the site.
Plexi-Burress was the man
Hated losing him. He had some great seasons as a Steeler.
music is too loud maybe retone down this good video
Yeah, we’ve had that complaint a lot. Here’s a version with no music. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/89Yj3BTBjmU/v-deo.htmlsi=zmMbiBCX8apPzknp
Why would you play music over the announcers??
Updated version with no music is here: ua-cam.com/video/89Yj3BTBjmU/v-deo.html
First ballot Hall of Famer nothing else to say
Seemed to have more accuracy back then

how do you not start tha highlights wit tha first game he played against tha ravens 🤔
This video only includes his rookie season STARTS, but in hindsight, I wish I had included highlights from that game as well because he did have a few Ben "moments" in that one.
