When the announcer said it was “hogwash” that Eli was considered thee best draft pick it gave me a big smile. I think as of 2021 it’s CRYSTAL clear that Ben is, was, and always will be the greatest quarterback from that draft.
I'll place one argument against it, I'm not saying Eli was better, obviously, I'm a huge Ben fan. Eli took down Brady twice in the post season. We never even got to imagine Ben doing it once, in fact every time Ben got to the Patriots in the playoffs, the Steelers were laughed right out of them in embarrassing fashion. Those are just facts.

I've never been able to understand the people who hand wave it away by saying Ben had a great defense and running game that carried him. How many veteran QBs have we seen who had a great defense and great running game but couldn't come close to that winning streak? It's sobering to note that those seventeen-plus years have flown by. I was watching this game while organizing/packing household possessions for a move in just four weeks. After that I would catch parts of most of his games waiting to board one flight or another. Seventeen years.

This technically was his first start but the first NFL game he played in was against the Ravens when Tommy Maddox got hurt. I believe he came in and threw 2 Tds and looked pretty good against a strong Ravens defense. That was the only loss the Steelers had that year.

Watching Hines Ward never gets old. I've bled black and gold from the moment I watched Jack Lambert peer out from his helmet with no teeth.
Many loved AB, but I thought Ben and Hines had a great connection too. Ward was my favorite and always clutch, especially across the middle.

I forgot how dominant that Steelers D was. Hell they had a great o line and great receivers too. No wonder they went 15-1 that season and won the Superbowl the next year.

This technically was his first start but the first NFL game he played in was against the Ravens when Tommy Maddox got hurt. I believe he came in and threw 2 Tds and looked pretty good against a strong Ravens defense. That was the only loss the Steelers had that year.
God I miss this Steelers team…wasn’t perfect, but consistently so much talent and discipline on both sides of the ball
The good ole says where you could throw for 150 yards on 16 attempts and a TD and rely on the defense to win the game. That is nonexistent nowadays.
