In 2000 I started a new job in insurance appraising, involved a lot of driving alone all over NC & SC and meeting homeowners to evaluate coverage. I met a super cool lady once and we chatted a lot. She told me all about her son, who was the guitarist in a band called Splendr, and gave me a CD of "I Think God Can Explain". I'll never forget her nor how proud she was of her son Jonathan. That CD and the memory of her kindnesses kept me company for many lonely miles for a couple of years. And of course every time I listen, it takes me back to those times and how much I loved and sang along with Splendr. I wish I could tell her that...
Wow what a special connection to this band and this song! This song is very important to me because it brings back memories of my first love, Levi. We lived on Long Island, he was 15 and I was 16. What we had was special because first and foremost I considered him my best friend and shared everything with him. This song was on the radio a lot at that time and we would always sing to it. Sadly he had to move to Arkansas to live with his father, I never thought I'd get over him. We kept in touch for some time after that, but it was never the same. We both eventually got married to different people and moved on. I'm no longer in touch with him, but I still think about him from time to time. I heard this on the radio the other day and it brought tears to my eyes, all of those wonderful memories flooding back. Don't get me wrong, I'm very much in love with my husband and am very happy to be with him. Levi will always have a special place in my heart and your first love is something you just never forget.
Took me 15 years to finally remeber enough of this song to find it. Last night out of no where "It's alright, I'm ok I think god can explain" popped into my head. I actually cried when I googled it and found it:)
I was 16 years old when i first heard this music. No i am 40 years old. I thank God for His wonderful and goodness in my life. Nothing in this world is pure, but only i found in God, our loving and living God, Yahweh and His only Som Yeshuah (Jesus). Blessings to all.
I just heard this last night on the radio while in the parking lot and instantly hooked with the line “it’s alright, i’m okay, i think God can explain”. Thanks to Jam 88.3 (radio station in the Philippines) 😢
Its now Jan 2024, and I was obsessed with this song circa 2000, working at the luggage department at Daffy's in NYC, just before 9/11. Very specific memory😂 this played on a repeating loop about once every 90 min during my shifts.
It weeps me right at this moment. This morning, my team leader told me that he passed me on my mock call exam. i knew myself that at age of 45, i can not be competent anymore.. i dreamt to be a call center agent before. But i stopped it already.. now I just could not believe that god has turned the favor on me.. i was just whatever will be would be, come what may. It is like i will die deeply in poverty.. working as a janitor or utility .. This will be a new chapter in my life if i could be a call center agent. For my darling and my loved ones.. and ofcourse..for the love of myself.. I already know this song.. i dont know why this song really brings out my tears .. this is an amazing sad song with twist of rock n roll.. Thanks god . You made weep today with tears of joy... amen
It's 2022 and I still love this song. My younger brother and I used to sing this song during weekends when we are off from work. He passed away last 2018, and this song has become more meaningful for both of us. Joseph, wherever you may be up there, I think God can explain everything to you. For us who continue to live without a wonderful brother like you, we think we will find God's explanation in due time.
Men... its now 2023.. but still cant forget the good old days... this song released year of 1999.. graduating in high school.. everytime i play or listen to this music at this time.. it brings back a lot of memories.. i love those good old days.. when mtv is a lot famous than youtube..then...😅😅😅

This song just reminds me of the so many people in the world who are hurting… It’s going to be ok hang in there trust that God loves you and and He’s still in control
I couldn't think of how the words for this song went for the longest time. In 2003 I was deployed to Iraq, and heard a Syrian worker sing this song while he was working in the chow hall. From there googled the words and finally found it.
When I get overwhelmed sometimes, I think back to this song and sing “It’s alright, I’m okay, I think God can explain.” Nice way to ground myself back to reality.
Stranac Oppilas No way! Finally someone noticed that odd style choice in music videos of the late 90’s. Honestly have always wondered about the color palette along with the lead singer/band walking in an area that’s blue. Just can’t help but notice those styles are consistent through many videos and I miss it👌🏻
Felt the same that videos these days have no character and the colour palette trearment we had in 90s... Moreover I stopped listening/viewing any music post 2010..you are spot on
Ding ding! 3 year comment maintenance check-up. Yeah, they got that blue shadow / green midtone thing with many of their songs. I remember it well with New Radicalz's "Someday We'll Know".
This song was introduced to me a few years ago by someone I once cared deeply about; she cared for me too and this was one of her favourite songs at the time. Unfortunately, it didn't work out between us and things ended badly to the extent that we haven't spoken to each other in years. She was my best friend, and I only wish she knew how much I miss her and how sorry I am for letting things fall apart. The lyrics of this song resonate within me, and serve as a bittersweet reminder of my love and loss.
That’s strange, I can’t help but relate on the exact level and word for word what you said. It’s been a long time now, but I still listen to this song as much as I did when I was that girl and now it holds a new meaning for me, in the past and in the present. Whenever I wonder about what really happened, I can trust that God really can explain.
Go to her house carry a boombox play this song! Even if you dont get back together atleast your relationship with the person would move from negative to hopefully neutral
I didn't know the lead singer of Splender was a black guy! This actually makes me very happy (I'm a black man myself)! I know it shouldn't matter his skin color, but I grew up with people making fun of my musical tastes. I didn't like rap and hip hop until I was an adult. I always loved Rock n Roll, especially the electric guitar! I can just feel it when rock music is playing more than any other genre of music! I remember being so moved by this song on the radio in my teen years, and it makes me happy that one of my favorite songs during that time was someone who looks like me, and plays such a beautiful music I identify with! 😊
Just be you, regardless if someone is a white man who likes rap or a black man who likes rock music. Don't ever let anyone discourage you from loving the things you love. I wish I had black friends who were into rock and metal music. Most black people around me I meet aren't hardcore rock music fans.
Also, check out the bands King's X, and Fire From The Gods if you haven't already. two good rock bands who have black vocalists. Dug from King's X is also openly gay and their music is incredibly good. Sevendust, Sepultura, and Killswitch Engage also have black vocalists but I'd imagine you have head those bands before.
Always come back to this song whenever I am feeling at the lowest or the hardest moment in life. This song helps boost my confidence back. That everything happens for a reason. And God knows what is best.
It takes a very unique person to appeciate Splender ~ I've been a fan since I was 16.. I'm turning 29 this September. It still reminds me of my 1st car - a black 82' Camero ~ she was so sweet :) Everytime I listen to either Splender or Foo Fighters it really takes me back. Cruising the country roads.. the music, the wind... you get my point ~ mwah! ~ Amy ~
some unfortunate event happened today during my class. it was out of my control then i suddenly thought of this song. i decided to give it a listen again and i'm surprised that this mv is 13 yrs old today. i hope better days are coming... 10/25/2022
The fact that you mentioned the color kinda contradicts your intention. Nobody even mentioned it until you did. Bet you didnt think that when you watch Daughtry or Dishwalla. Thank you.
I remember going to see them when they first came out in 99 at the 930 Club in DC... I was obsessed! I was pregnant so we sat on the top level. Waymon and the band were just sitting up there before the set, nobody and I mean nobody even recognized him... Right away I went over quietly to not make a scene and talked to him and got them all to sign everything. He then brought us to the front row and said give her some space she's preggo.. The best small venue concert ever. I got to meet and talk to them without anyone even knowing, because obviously I was a huge fan and spotted them immediately.. Great people, great band, great memories I will never forget!!! ❤
+beerformyself13 or as I like to put it "before music went to crap" lol ..... this is actually from the Dawson's Creek soundtrack....that is where I know it from haha
+♡AngelinaSkye1695♡ IKR, I mean read the lyrics of mainstream bands, singers, etc. None of em really make sense. I guess we are from the generation where the music are not taken for granted
I remember going to the mall in summer 2000 to buy this album at FYE. Damn, summer of 2000 feels like last year to me. I was obsessed with this song. It’s still on my playlist.
Never get tired of this song. Whatever summer this song was out cranked up the radio every time it came on. Still revisit it every year and my kids are like "this song again". Yes. Will always have s place in my heart until my last days!
The first time I heard this song, I was in a restaurant bathroom.. me and my friends met up to talk about our friend that died in a car accident a few days beforehand-once I heard the lyric, "I'm alright, I'm okay, only God can explain", I knew it was him telling me he was okay. I still remember that moment like it was yesterday, and that was almost 21 years ago ❤❤❤.
Tahun 2000an tv rusak, hanya dengar lwat radio, alhamdulillah sekarang nonton lewat genggaman, mengenang jaman smaku, jauh beda dgn sma anakku, alhamdulillah masih diberi hidup, masih bisa mensyukuri perubahan yg indah dari masa ke masa
This song was playing in my head today, whole day. Maybe it was a sign that God is always looking down on me. I was having a meltdown. And was trying to tell myself just hang in there and everything will get better. Nope not suicidal, just not having a good day. And just felt not my best for the past years and the people around is not helping also. Haaay.
To all here listening this is a great song never get tired and know this your not alone were all here in the monent rocking this till the end of time!!!
Gents, this is such an amazing song that I covered on my radio show every single show. Great vocals, music, the bass line delivers such an augmented variation to the crisp guitar work and it all ties in with the amazing lyric. What talent!!!
This song has been popping in and out of my ear for almost half of my life without me knowing who played it. Then suddenly the department store I'm currently in played this song, and the nostalgia rushed in. Quick Google search, and I never felt so glad like this for these few months.
I heard this song on my older sisters alarm clock in 2000 I believe it was summer and heard the chorus one time and it stuck in my head for nearly two decades..I’d sing it to myself and question if it’s real or something like I mis heard it or what not. I searched everywhere for 19-20 years for this song And finally searched “ I’m alright “ on here and it came up and boom it matched...nothing like finding something you’ve searched for 20 years for...I’m blown away
So happy to have stumbled on this video on UA-cam. I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Splender when they were Hidden Persuaders on more than one occasion with my former band Nerve. I was also one of the first A&R execs to discover and nearly sign them and cherish great memories of my friendship with Waymon, James, and other members of the original group. The music they created is timeless in my opinion and their live performances were incredible beyond words.
Oh my god I'm soooooooo happy right now! One of those songs I've loved but haven't heard in ages and seeing it pop up in my recommended... takes me back.
This is the first time hearing this song after 20 years.. Oh boy it brings so many memories for the good and the bad!! it reminds me how lucky i am still alive from 200kph midnight driving and other worse decision that either can lands me in jail, ER or cemetery... im blessed

"I Think God Can Explain"
There's a lot of things I understand
And there's a lot of things that I don't want to know
But you're the only face I recognize
It's so damn sweet of you to look me in the eyes
It's alright, I'm ok
I think God can explain
I believe I'm the same
I get carried away
It's alright, I'm ok
I think God can explain
I'm relieved, I'm relaxed
I'll get over it, yeah
The scent of vaseline in the summertime
The feel of an ice cube melting over time
The world seems bigger than both of us
Yet it seems so small when I begin to cry
It's alright, I'm ok
I think God can explain
I believe I'm the same
I get carried away
It's alright, I'm ok
I think God can explain
I'm relieved, I'm relaxed
I'll get over it, yeah
I'm so much better than you guessed
I'm so much bigger than you guessed
I'm so much brighter than you guessed
It's alright, I'm ok
I think God can explain
I believe I'm the same
I get carried away
It's alright, I'm ok
I think God can explain
I'm relieved, I'm relaxed
I'll get off of your back
I think God can explain, I think God can explain
I think God can explain

I still have this cd from when it first came out! Great band. Underrated.
Time when music is really music
+beerformyself13 or as I like to put it "before music went to crap" lol ..... this is actually from the Dawson's Creek soundtrack....that is where I know it from haha
+♡AngelinaSkye1695♡ IKR, I mean read the lyrics of mainstream bands, singers, etc. None of em really make sense.
I guess we are from the generation where the music are not taken for granted
+beerformyself13 yeah...
agree
beerformyself13 Was* really music, since you're referring to the past.
nailed it!
I still remember when i was kid & watching a Dawson's Creek series.. that first time i hear this song and i love till now 2020🤪
My all time favorite. Always loved Waymons voice.
I just heard this music along the road while I feel left out, but this song made me realize that there are bigger plans God has for me.
May 2021. This song is timeless and will always hit home.
me
Always! 💕
I saw the singer play in a band called Headrush in a small venue in Sacramento in 2004. They were so good!
After the long time. I got this recommendation on YT.
What a memory to remember about this song.
I am here beacuse music these days sucks! I want to go back when i was on the era of great artists on MTV.
💯

We dont Care what year ur listening
This is TIMELESS
The first time I heard this song, I was in a restaurant bathroom.. me and my friends met up to talk about our friend that died in a car accident a few days beforehand-once I heard the lyric, "I'm alright, I'm okay, only God can explain", I knew it was him telling me he was okay. I still remember that moment like it was yesterday, and that was almost 21 years ago ❤❤❤.
Love this song. Always have. Just remembered the name and so happy I found it again.
Tahun 2000an tv rusak, hanya dengar lwat radio, alhamdulillah sekarang nonton lewat genggaman, mengenang jaman smaku, jauh beda dgn sma anakku, alhamdulillah masih diberi hidup, masih bisa mensyukuri perubahan yg indah dari masa ke masa

I love both songs!
Yessss both great songs
This song was playing in my head today, whole day. Maybe it was a sign that God is always looking down on me. I was having a meltdown. And was trying to tell myself just hang in there and everything will get better. Nope not suicidal, just not having a good day. And just felt not my best for the past years and the people around is not helping also. Haaay.
He is.....He always is. He wont forsake you..
Have faith. Everything will be okay.
This song in many ways is the gold standard for 90s alternative rock. They had a few other hits; this song is my personal favorite.
Love the voice of this man,..this song used to be my national anthem during my darkest days in life,...😭😭😭😭😭
One of the best songs back in the days..
It remains famous 😎
My life's theme song whenever life problems visits me. 😭 now listening again .😭🤧
This and other songs from 2000s makes me feel better when i'm feeling down
I can listen to this song 10 times in a row...love this song
Reminds me to stay strong and that God will be there always
90's-00's Music are so awesome & very Nostalgic. UNDERRATED era of Music with sense.
My life saver music in my current situation. Send it too to my boyfriend and it felt like God is the center of everything.
This song has been popping in and out of my ear for almost half of my life without me knowing who played it.
Then suddenly the department store I'm currently in played this song, and the nostalgia rushed in. Quick Google search, and I never felt so glad like this for these few months.
What an overlooked song. Love it!
Not the stereotypical rock band. A breath of fresh air.
It's 2023 and there's a lot goin' on. I hope all of us are still okay. Praying that God can explain what went wrong.
I heard this song on my older sisters alarm clock in 2000 I believe it was summer and heard the chorus one time and it stuck in my head for nearly two decades..I’d sing it to myself and question if it’s real or something like I mis heard it or what not. I searched everywhere for 19-20 years for this song
And finally searched “ I’m alright “ on here and it came up and boom it matched...nothing like finding something you’ve searched for 20 years for...I’m blown away
Still a my favorite song...its a lonely 40...lets goooo
This gives me strength at a time when I am truly at my lowest.
Jim Goh everytime.......
Same here. 😔 When I'm alone I'll just listened to dis song 😔😔
Wow, 19 years have passed and this is still as great as it was back then in 2000!
Beautifully written!
Love this song since I was 17 years old and now I'm 30💗 still nothings change I still love this song🥰
I miss Splender. Awesome group Waymon was the dude. Halfway Down the Sky is a great listen from beginning to end.
Nantambu Robinson excellent album!
Played the album to death through my high school years miss that sound and time 😰

Think Waymon is a film director now & quite successful in it too...
Oh my god I'm soooooooo happy right now! One of those songs I've loved but haven't heard in ages and seeing it pop up in my recommended... takes me back.
One of the best rock groups ever. Great songwriting and epic studio recordings.
