Yeah they did reject fame but Greg Alexander has written some fabulous songs for other stars he’s one on his own so talented miss the voice that is his though 😀
Same can be said for Alexander's song writing partner Danielle Brisebois, the two founding members of New Radicals. Both are still writing songs. A few years ago, they collaborated on a song called "Lost Stars" which was used in the feature film 'Begin Again' and was nominated for an Academy Award.

He was labeled a conspiracy theorist at was never welcomed in Hollywood or any music labels, but he still performed solo in the early 2000s
To anyone claiming one hit wonder: please go listen to the entire album. The whole thing is a gem. Shame they didn’t want to make more music as a band. The album is still a favorite of mine after all these years.
I mean, technically they were a one-hit wonder. This song went nowhere on the charts and the album, while f*cking amazing (probably my favorite of all time to be honest), didn't generate any more singles after this one.
I totally agree with you, I brought the album back in 99 and I still have it and it still plays, one of the best albums i every brought, gregg Alexander went into writing and producing after, if he continued new radicals could of had at least 5 more major hits he wrote 3 for Ronan Keating including life is a rollercoaster and inner smile for Texes and the game of life for Santana a Grammy winner
they got tired doing tours round the clock with just few hours of sleep. They've said that's the reason why he always wear that hat.. to hide his lack of enthusiasm that he used to have.
I heard "get what you give" over and over on the radio.....it was the only song I knew of theirs for well over a decade. Picked the full album up at a thrift shop around 2010 and was absolutely blown away at just how amazing it was! Such a solid album from beginning to end! Really glad that I finally gave it a chance!
I just love how appropriate your comment is with the story of Meet Joe Black. I adore that movie although it made me tear up towards the end. I still wish they got to be together.
It's a beautiful tune. Your mom had great taste. My mom's favorite tune was Odinary World by Duran Duran. It's been 30 years. Always think of her when I hear it. Blessings.
It's 2024 and I'm in my 40's. This song cuts so much deeper now. I wonder how many people wonder why they weren't met for me? I know I wonder about a few...
I was 15 years old when this masterpiece came out. I'm doing pretty much fine right now but man, I really miss my life in the 90s. So simple, so carefree, so happy.
For those who read this. I hope you find happiness in your life, in whatever you're doing or experiencing at the moment. And maybe someday, you'll realize that it all will be just an experience you can remember. A memories, that will stay with you, made you a better person. Made you a 'person' out of it.

@@user-to8vr6jw2b I'm not sure if it does or not, nor if the song is blaspheming but it's kind of the way I saw it if I were to imagine that the singer were a believer.
I love both versions but for different reasons. I love Mandy's version because I loved the film and her version reminded me of it. But I love this version because as you said, this version conveys more emotion that Mandy's.
Wow, I was there as a kid boppin to "Get what you give" now I'm in my 30's just discovered this song today and already I see in the comments this was covered? This song is deep. I've got a lot of listening to do.
they were never meant to be, but Gregg decided to end the band and all promotional duties only a few days after this video came out. He said he wanted to focus on his career as producer instead of becoming a pop star.
@@jaggass LOL. You obviously don't know that, so don't make dumb assumptions. I doubt you were part of the music industry at the time, i.e . as record company CEO, executive, promoter, radio DJ or anybody that could influence that back then, it's really easy to talk now, isn't it? The album sold over a million copies in US alone, so it's obvious they could've promoted for a long time and go on tour.
@@zimzimzalabimMaybe so but Gregg knew that You Get What You Give couldn't be matched and he already decided that being famous wasn't for him. Its sad really because Someday We'll Know is a good song
@@jaggass You're assuming again. He never ruled himself out because he couldn't top YGWYG... actually said this to Billboard last year: "Nobody will ever know if five or six singles [would have come] out, whether it would have sold one more copy or 20 more million copies. NOBODY KNOWS, and I don't fucking care at this point. But I was grateful when I left the business of being an artist. When I extracted myself from that situation, I had the same thing I have now: hundreds and hundreds of pop songs."
Same age than you (even counting the year after reesponse lol) And didn't hear this song after it came out. Really. Totally forgot about it But tonight i watched this cheesy movie and it was in the soundtrack and i looked for it here :) I'm gonna listen some more of this band to try to find other forgotten songs! 90' was the best times to be a teen Cheers
I don't think so. He's had a lot of success as a producer. He's won a Grammy and was also up for an Oscar. That's what he wanted, to make music even if other artists played his part. Made a living from it, and is not on the spotlight. You should be happy for him.
zimzimzalabim I think you misunderstood my meaning...♥️ For me I feel the public is not aware of what he has accomplished and all of the beautiful songs he had written... To me, that is underrated ♥️♥️💚
Yeah and I honestly really have to agree with him. This dude’s voice does NOT go well with this song. I really like the song overall, but a different singer would make it even better.
The nostalgia feels like a flood rushing through my chest. I want to be happy but feels sad at the same time . Those who lived in the 90s as kid can relate.
Me too in 24.Daughter was raised listening to this album and 2 weeks ago shared a stage with Joe Walsh while he was in Hawkes Bay, she sang while he played guitar.Music can change lives and take you to magical places.
This could have been my story, but praise Jesus it wasnt. I married the One. When someone runs, chase them - even if it costs you everything. You never know, it may be worth it! 27 years later - more in love than ever and two incredible sons (21 and 18). Thank you Lord John 3:16-17
Shoutout to my younger me, just enjoy listening to your favorite radio station, playing cassette tape, watching MTV Philippines, enjoy the moment. You will surely miss that day.
The year of 1999, when I was 17, I was depressed, worn out and lost... this song came to my rescue for a heart that no longer beat as before (it was out of tune with the torment I was going through), and little by little I was finding a purpose in life, that pushed me and made me overcome all the pain that consumed me for higher flights... I finally found myself, I took the reins of life and with the help of self-knowledge is helping me overcome the battles of day-to-day life...
"Someday I will know, why I wasn't meant for you.. " What a deep lyrics there.. I wish now days music will have more deep and meaning full lyrics, instead showing off their beautiful body and face..
+Willy The Wizard holy shit, why does EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MUSIC VIDEO of 90's have these people complaining about how today's music is shallow and bullshit???

Someday we'll know: yeah, got a lot of answer to life's mystery Someday we'll know: after 24 years of this song, some prayers answered, and some still waiting to reveal in matter of time Someday we'll know: cant wait to explore more on life's mystery and unleash what was promised to us in life. Been listening to this song when was a teenager and still listening today and dont mind listening to this song for another 24 years more. Someday we'll know.
April 2020. I hope everyone is staying safe and I have loved "A Walk to Remember" . Never knew that this was New Radicals. Loved the movie and the song.
I found this song through an unlikely path after watching a show on UA-cam about childhood stars. Danielle Brisebois was one of the guests. She played Stephanie Mills on All in the Family, and Molly in tge Broadway production of Annie. She was/is beautiful, and later made perhaps a bigger splash as a singer/songwriter. What a talented woman!
Someday I’ll know why they won’t stop ghosting. Edit: Someday came, I might still be single but now I understand that the light I sought was found within. Someday soon I will meet the right woman.

Someday we'll know
Why Sampson loved Delilah
One day I'll go
Dancing on the moon
Someday you'll know
That I was the one for you
I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow
I watched the stars crash into the sea
If I could ask God just one question
Why aren't you here with me
Someday we'll know
If love can move a mountain
Someday we'll know
Why the sky is blue
Someday we'll know
Why I wasn't meant for you
Why Sampson loved Delilah
One day I'll go
Dancing on the moon
Someday you'll know
That I was the one for you.
Thank U, love this tune SO DAMN MUCH.....
So deeply reminds me of my former fiancé from over 30 yrs ago, still in my heart & always will remain there....these lyrics hit me hard each time I listen.....💜💜😓🙏🌞

Nothing like a poet feeling.
I run ahead...to my yesterday.
Oh, my...!
I liked Mandy Moore's version better.
Thanks
Can anyone tell why Sampson not Samson?
I forgot how amazing this whole album is 🥹 it’s been a while 🥲🫶💛💛💛
If you didn’t experience life in the 90’s you missed out on the most amazing time in history.
I was 30yrs old when this song came out and here iam 55yrs old still play this song and still give me chill effect
Same age and same feeling ✌🏽
Same boat as you , just a few years difference in age. What a great band.
It still feels like this song was just last week. A quarter of the century passed by like wft is happening here, its amazing we’re still alive now.
Lies again? Know Everybody Gym Battery
"If I could ask god just one question: why aren't you here with me?"
Always gotta tear up when I hear this line.
As a Christian, this hit me hard since I had been struggling spiritually for a while, but I'm doing way better now, thank God (literally)
@@AestheticShrine Well he does reference Samson and Delilah so he may just be longing to go home back to Jesus Christ in person because he talks about us "someday knowing" and the only way to know is to be there with Him. For now we have the Holy Spirit, thank God (literally). Godspeed
@@cowboyanimal6700 thanks for explaining...knew this song before I was a Christian...this song pop up in my head after a break up.. didn't know it has Christian meaning
@@user-to8vr6jw2b I'm not sure if it does or not, nor if the song is blaspheming but it's kind of the way I saw it if I were to imagine that the singer were a believer.

Oh yes 😊
The Mandy Moore version may be more successful, but Gregg's voice here really felt like he got his heart broken.
I love both versions but for different reasons. I love Mandy's version because I loved the film and her version reminded me of it. But I love this version because as you said, this version conveys more emotion that Mandy's.
I like both. I kept hearing both versions as a kid in a cab on the way home from the mall.
Mabe he"s really sad. I love him!!! Just one question....
Wow, I was there as a kid boppin to "Get what you give" now I'm in my 30's just discovered this song today and already I see in the comments this was covered? This song is deep. I've got a lot of listening to do.
mandy moore did a version?
Proof that New Radicals weren't a one hit wonder band.
they were never meant to be, but Gregg decided to end the band and all promotional duties only a few days after this video came out. He said he wanted to focus on his career as producer instead of becoming a pop star.
@@zimzimzalabim He made the right decision as New Radicals were always going to be known for one song.
I'm 18 then, now 43 still love this song.
Same 😊
Same age than you (even counting the year after reesponse lol)
And didn't hear this song after it came out. Really. Totally forgot about it
But tonight i watched this cheesy movie and it was in the soundtrack and i looked for it here :)
I'm gonna listen some more of this band to try to find other forgotten songs!
90' was the best times to be a teen
Cheers
🐱Who's still listening to this in 2024?😸
I just ordered the cd off ebay :) today

The most under rated artist of our time.
Absolutely!!!
Jason Reid absolutely true♥️♥️♥️
I don't think so. He's had a lot of success as a producer. He's won a Grammy and was also up for an Oscar. That's what he wanted, to make music even if other artists played his part. Made a living from it, and is not on the spotlight. You should be happy for him.
zimzimzalabim I think you misunderstood my meaning...♥️
For me I feel the public is not aware of what he has accomplished and all of the beautiful songs he had written...
To me, that is underrated ♥️♥️💚
Damn true....he is a lyrical legend.
Todd in the Shadows got me here and glad he did really liking the song
I saw that episode, too and it showed up just now
Yeah and I honestly really have to agree with him. This dude’s voice does NOT go well with this song. I really like the song overall, but a different singer would make it even better.
JJ Abeyta luckily there are bafflingly so many versions with different singers
@@Musiclover19 I personally disagree, I like his voice and think it works great with the song! But art is subjective
@@Musiclover19
I agree which is why I prefer the Mandy Moore/Switchfoot cover. But I do like this version.
rest in peace Paul Gordon (piano). The drummer is Josh Freese (now in Foo Fighters) and the guitarist is Rusty Anderson.
year 2024 and counting, at 37 I still listen to this song as if I were a teenager... beautiful memories
first time hearing this :O

25 years ago, but the teenage still breathes...
Me at my 35 ❤️
Me at 42❤
I was a teenager when this song became a hit. Only today, years later, did I realize the beauty of his lyrics.
The nostalgia feels like a flood rushing through my chest. I want to be happy but feels sad at the same time . Those who lived in the 90s as kid can relate.
Taga Cale this got me dancin’ while cryi’n 😂

Don't say that... Mine is two years and I can barely take It... 25 is too much... May I ask what happened to you?
Im on that same pace.. Everytime i dreamed about her.. She's always on my mind its crazy
Interesting life cycle when you hit that borderline maturity looking back from innocence and pure curiosity. This is beautiful.
This could have been my story, but praise Jesus it wasnt. I married the One. When someone runs, chase them - even if it costs you everything. You never know, it may be worth it! 27 years later - more in love than ever and two incredible sons (21 and 18). Thank you Lord John 3:16-17
Happy for you, and a great advise, I know because it was my story.
Amen brother!
I know more about u
there are many "ones" its timing and being ready
well that's a good advice "if someone runs chase them"
i followed the opposite one "if you love someone let them free"
i'm alone now :(
Shoutout to my younger me, just enjoy listening to your favorite radio station, playing cassette tape, watching MTV Philippines, enjoy the moment. You will surely miss that day.

Have you heard ua-cam.com/video/NERmgwWfnoI/v-deo.html
This scene on A Walk To Remember was everything
The year of 1999, when I was 17, I was depressed, worn out and lost... this song came to my rescue for a heart that no longer beat as before (it was out of tune with the torment I was going through), and little by little I was finding a purpose in life, that pushed me and made me overcome all the pain that consumed me for higher flights... I finally found myself, I took the reins of life and with the help of self-knowledge is helping me overcome the battles of day-to-day life...
I love you. You matter. Your life makes a difference. Thank you for your story

I sang this song alone inside my car when I got my heart broken for the first time... now I'm back cause it's broken for the second. I'm tired...

Someday we'll know: yeah, got a lot of answer to life's mystery
Someday we'll know: after 24 years of this song, some prayers answered, and some still waiting to reveal in matter of time

Random but abstract lyrics:
Why samson loved delilah,
Did the captain of the titanic cry
Brilliant songwriter
-Co-written by Danielle Brisebois who played the little girl Stephanie on All in the Family.
Yeah
Gregg Alexander, he also wrote the songs for animated film frozen and the movie Lost Stars.
@@jeffpayusan Not sure where you heard that but those songs were written by Robert Lopez and his wife Kristian.
rzrbckmz23 hahahahaha lol
I found this song through an unlikely path after watching a show on UA-cam about childhood stars. Danielle Brisebois was one of the guests. She played Stephanie Mills on All in the Family, and Molly in tge Broadway production of Annie.
She was/is beautiful, and later made perhaps a bigger splash as a singer/songwriter. What a talented woman!
Actually she made no splash.
Someday I’ll know why they won’t stop ghosting.
Edit: Someday came, I might still be single but now I understand that the light I sought was found within.
Someday soon I will meet the right woman.
One of the most underrated bands ever.
These guys and Third Eye Blind man. Icons of the 90s.
