    I think i would find a cheap console and mount the stereo on that and move it around on it . That would mak it stable and you would not have to tape it down , or mount with velcro and use velco to mount to all other dashes !

  • @clarkmarkey1498
    @clarkmarkey1498 6 днів тому

    That right there would work in my 32 roadster. I do NOT want to put a stereo in that car, but some tunes while driving back roads would be nice. The GPS feature would be louder and larger than my phone, too.

    • @betweenthesharksgarage
      @betweenthesharksgarage  6 днів тому +1

      I know your name from here man I didn’t know you had a 32 roadster. That’s rad. But thanks for your constant support on the channel.
      That’s exactly why I was excited to collaborate with this company. I’ve never heard of a thing quite like this. They said they saw the truck video would I be interested in trying one of these out and reviewing it on the channel and I was like man that’s a perfect fit
      It’s simple and solve so many problems for classic car guys We are kind of particular
      To me this is a way better solution than installing another radio in the glove compartment 1000 times faster in a few bucks cheaper
      A couple guys raged on me for this being an infomercial. And all I could think was man you guys don’t have an old car do you…

      @@betweenthesharksgarage Putting stereos in classic cars or hot rods has never been my favorite job. Pulling out a bunch of fiddly or expensive to repair panels to hide wires is no longer my idea of fun. Then there is the look of a modern stereo in an old dash...kind of like the digital tachs folks used in the eighties in a tri 5 Chevy. That just looks wrong. After 40 plus years in lous industry and running dynos for hours on end, every day, my old ears can't appreciate a great sound system, anyway, let alone in an open car at 70 plus mph.
      That little thong looks like the ticket. It also can be moved between hot rods and taken to the back of the shop where the stereo isn't very effective.
      Some folks don't get the "influencer" aspect of content making. It can totally transform how your work is seen. There are many folks actually benefitting enough to upgrade equipment and abilities to make better videos, sound and editing.

    I had a 72 Jimmy full convertible roof from the windshield back fiberglass. Somebody had more times than I can count removed and put stereos in that thing which terrified me. When I got it it didn't even have a dash pad and the steering column was broken LOL. There was no gauges no cover where the gauges go. Factory it came with one speaker in the dash which I admittedly could have replaced LOL for a long time I used a battery operated AM/FM radio that wasn't much bigger than a VHS tape and I used to have it on top of the dash with velcro. I could have gotten an adapter to run it through the cigarette lighter but I just used double a batteries LOL I'm a caveman. For a cassette deck I had to head unit that somebody threw out and I put it in the hole on the dash for the radio was supposed to go mainly to cover up that hole I ran the positive wire over to the auxiliary like you did and ground wire on the body speaker was I think from a home theater system you don't want to know how much rust was on the outside casing of that speaker and I simply put the speaker in the glove box of the Jimmy and ran the wire over to the radio. Ironically ended up using that speaker in another vehicle LOL. I kept having problems trying to put an antenna on that radio and getting any kind of a radio signal so I used to use it strictly for the cassette deck and I carried around one of those big briefcase size units of cassettes on the passenger side floor or in the back behind the seat. It was a two-wheel drive version of the Jimmy and I still miss that vehicle. They're extremely rare only a couple dozen were registered in Nova Scotia when I have that one. The four-wheel drive ones are more common and they usually only have half the roof removal. Horror stories I could tell you about that vehicle and I still miss driving it. It was minimalist. I never had any other problems with it that you have with newer vehicles and the problems I had with it the whole time I owned it were super minor. Like I had to replace an alternator at one point if I remember correctly which is normal for using old GM stuff and not difficult. It's a couple of bolts and a plug and a belt it's not like this modern stock with certainty belts and all that crap. Everything on that vehicle was from stuff in Farmers fields back before people started taking stuff in for scrap back then you could get vehicle parts anywhere around here a couple of years after I put that together thousands of vehicles got taken in for scrap across Nova Scotia. Really like the van you showed in this video I gave up trying to get one of those years ago every time I try to get one it's rotten Beyond repair and the prices they want would give you PTSD you can't get one for like 500 bucks anymore like you could when I was younger. I can remember being able to get one of those GM cargo vans for like 500 bucks running and driving. Those full size vans are impossible to get because of people buying them nowadays and making homes out of them, it's just funny to see a company making a radio like this because this would be considered total jack wagon stuff when I was young. For the record anytime I need a GPS I got one of those little cigarette package size units that plugs into cigarette lighter and I just toss it on the passenger side seat after I set it up

      so people get a little weird when they see the paid promotion tag. youtube requires it "If you accepted anything of value from a third party to make your video, you must let us know. We’ll show viewers a message that tells them your video contains paid promotion. "
      so this company reached out and said would you be interested in reviewing one of these... i looked at it and thought, hell i have a factory radio delete truck, that might be a fast easy way to get tunes and gps and not modify the truck... so i said sure and they sent one over.
      No money exchanged, no promise of a good review
      the video was getting long.... so it all got cut out, i went through the stereos i installed in the 67 cadillac, the 74 blazer, the 73 van, the 54 chevy, the 65 c10... various ways of butchering them in or hiding them in the glove box.
      You may not need this thing... but it is the best option i can think of for that truck and there wasnt a single video on youtube about this as an option for a solution. And i had never heard of these things with built in speakers before they reached out
      I review tools all the time as independent videos or integrated into the videos, sometimes companies send stuff, but most of the time they are tools i buy. if its useful to me its probably useful to someone out there watching ... but people ONLY notice when there is the paid promotion tag.. noone has ever called the skidsteer videos or evolution saw videos an infomercial
      I understand the skepticism at "paid promotion" and maybe I should clarify in the videos ... this is too much of a response but I am working hard to build a channel and I care how people that take the time to watch and comment feel about what i am doing

      I know some videos are not for some people, but if there is a tool or gadget that makes my life simpler or a job faster I talk about it-
      its interesting though it seems that people get bent out of shape if they see the "paid promotion" tag. For clarity, its a requirement by youtube if you receive anything in the video. I am not paid by this company at all, I did not promise any sort of favorable review, but they did ask if i was interested in reviewing the product, I said yea, they said we will send one, so I am required to put it in there.
      In the majority of my product videos I have paid full price for the tools, from the evolution saw to the mini skidsteer to the 4 post lift- all of them showing the tool and the use I have for it... and on one has ever complained that they are an infomercial... as soon as that tag shows up ... its inevitable
      Either way, this and the other things I talk about on the channel I consider useful and I think people are watching the channel that have similar projects so they might might too. I have installed many stereos in many of my classic cars and this is the fastest and least invasive solution I have found and I think that is gonna help someone out
      I also i often look to youtube for information before a purchase something,or trying to find a solution to a problem- there were no videos on anything like this as a solution for a classic car with no radio- until now- and this video may keep several classic dashboards from being butchered
      if you have no use for one maybe whatever I do next will be more entertaining to you - but genuinely thanks for watching and thanks for the support
