Why not? He can't play double bass anymore. This is perfect for his lazy ass.

all these negative comments from egotistical small minded drummers. The guy came up with a fresh new tool with new possibilities for sound, lose the hate already.
Its like saying "mallots are stupid, whoever invented that is an idiot cause I am so cool i can play soft already and hit the cymbal with my knuckle". Its a different sound. Get over yourselves and open your mind

The stick grip is a nice touch, but break a stick in the middle of a song, and it might be tricky to take that thing off and grab another quickly.

I always wondered about the ability to use the hi-hat pedal and perform double bass at the same time, I may invest in one of these in the future

Personally, I'm really conflicted on this matter. I started with double peddle but switched to double bass because of how the drum chokes at speed. I heard about this right after I made the switch and I'm seriously considering getting a pair. I've have a pair of Axis Laser A21s and they aren't all they're cracked up to be, Tama's speed cobra is a much better peddle; its less finicky and will do what you want it to do 99.9 percent of the time. I play slide technique normally for day to day playing, single strokes for the likes of thrash, and heel-toe for more extreme metal.
The dualist will help you get around triggers (not because I think triggers are evil, but because not everyone has the money and equipment necessary for triggers) it has many pollyrythmic applications and you can get faster, quicker, using minimal energy, while all the other double kick drummers are eating your dust. To put it in perspective: you will be playing music the likes of DragonForce, Kataclysum, Dethklok, and Nile and still have the energy to be in a German Slipknot caliber mosh pit (and hold your own). However it will get complicated if you are an avid double stroke roll player and there are two many hits going on at once. Its best to get faster with your single strokes before you consider buying this peddle.
If you do get this peddle, keep it as a secret weapon ;)

Regarding the single pedal with 2 beaters, does one of the peaters strike the drum on the upswing of the pedal? If so and only a single strike is desired, one would need to keep the pressure on the pedal to avoid a double strike., If the upswing causes a strike, the timing is controlled by the spring and not the foot correct? For the foot to control the beater that strikes on the upswing, should there be like a strap over the front of ones foot attached to the pedal so the player can "pull up" the pedal with his/her toe? I don't see any explanation of how the 2 beaters are controlled, whether beater speed is linear or if the cam is interchangeable or adjustable or the arc length of the strike and if it is adjustable. I didn't notice but it must be direct drive. It seems if one got used to this and was in a situation where the set being played didn';t have that pedal that it would throw off one's timing requiring a little practice to move back into a "normal" pedal. In other words it may deter the development of of double or triple stroke skills with a traditional pedal which may be the only one available. One can lift their foot up at the speed of light but the pedal will move up at a speed governed by the spring, not ones foot. I hope that makes sense. Because I never had a double pedal, I play a single one (direct drive) faster than most with double. I learned 50 yrs ago on a Ludwig Speed King. John Bonham never used a double pedal and his foot was faster than everyones. A double pedal should be avoided imho during the 1st five years of learning. Sorry for rambling on but everybody has an idea. I think a compressed gas cylinder would be better and less noisy than a spring; or repelling poles of earth magnets except for the weight. I think for toe or ball of foot players want a pedal with a fulcrum point instead of a heel hinge; but a trike on the upswing, to be accurate, would need to be controlled by pulling ones toe up but it is not fastened to the pedal soI don't get it.

When activated, the 2nd beater is operated with the upstroke. So when you press down, the first beater hits the head, when you lift your foot, the second beater goes down .

This actually looks like a great product. It's just not for me. I think I'd only ever get one of these for an auxiliary pedal, such as with a tambourine mounted on a pedal or similar. I wouldn't use this on a kick drum setup for me, personally. I only play single pedal at the moment, and I tune my kick with an open tuning scheme. anything double pedal in nature will choke it after a certain speed... and if I want to play fast, successive strokes, I'll use more of the Jojo Mayer foot techniques on a single than I would using a double pedal.
With that said, I also am investing in a new setup, which would include two kick drums (20" right, 18" left), so that VERY fast patters are articulate enough on their own to not choke out a drum.

The idea is good but it is so different it will never become popular unless 1. it IS really good and 2. They can try it for 30 days at no risk. Taking the chance of buying one knowing the resale value may require one to almost give it away because it not in the popular pedal that show up when googled and young drummers in general don't want to take risk gear dollars that cannot be at lease 50% recovered if the gear is not liked.

Those pedals are crap! I know of a good drummer who never learned to play good double kick because of using pedals like that crap!(The single double one)!`
