- Hi everyone ! 🔥
Today I’m going to answer a question many of you asked for a long time now !
WHAT IS MY FOOT TECHNIQUE ? It’s time for me to unveil and explain it.
It’s called double strokes and allows me (and many other drummers) to play very high tempos for extended periods of time.
I’ll show you in details how to understand, assimilate and master the technique to be able to play fast.
Small teaser : Last footage is 280bpm… 🥁
As always, do not hesitate to ask my anything. I will answer each and everyone of you with pleasure !

You know you’re a metal drummer when 180 and 220 bpm is considered slow
Yeah… and it is more and more abused with time, when you hear bands as Within Destruction or Rings Of Saturn you don't know what slow is for them 😛
Right tho 🤣
@@ThomasCremier I watched this band years ago..and he was doing 100bpm using both feet...50 bpm per foot..now thats slow!
Charshii lol
That's so right
Why am I watching this, I'm a guitarist
Erik Wortelboer haha same bruh
Same
Same here drums is cool to watch tho
Why am I watching this? I can sing not play instruments XD
Lol Don't feel bad I've been playing drums since I was 7 and yet I still watch guitar videos all the time, all while wishing I could play like the people in the videos. Drumming is like second nature to me and don't get me wrong I'm still passionate about it today as I was a kid, which is why I'm trying to see are these pedals he's using worth the price tag. But not a day goes by that I don't wish I could play guitar as well, I have tried and tried and I just can't get the hang of it so I gave up.
I'm not a drummer. I'm just here to see how the fuck you guys deliver these amazing results. I'm a vocalist, but drums are my favorite instrument. Fantastic video.
Thank you very much for your curiosity ! :D
@@ThomasCremier i'm a guitarrist and i still don't get how you do it. lol
@@anemonaloco Ahahaha I understand that could be complicated to understand at first, even for drummers ! But when we find to learn, it can be pretty straight forward and easy to feel the motion !

Thank you man !! \m/

Dawwwwwwg
That’s really good take my like
I thought the same thing....and then I come across you're comment....ahahahahahah
I thought lessons at school were lame…obviously this guy was really into them. Flawless transitions from 8 to triple to 16 doubles at blazing speeds. We can do this guys! Let’s go practice RIGHT NOW
Ahahah I wasn't really into lessons, and I only took 1 year and half of drumming course ! Everything is self-taught and as you said ! It's practice and practice and practice ! Lots of perseverance and motivation 😉
Bro, I have mad respect for drummers who have the Heel-Toe Technique down. This is honestly the first video I've ever seen where someone is actually explaining how to do it. I can do 300BPM with the tips of my toes on double kick. And now that I've found this video, I can start practicing this technique properly. Thank you!
Thank you for your reply ! :D
I really did this video because back then, when I learned this technique, nothing was available to learn this one. So I did my best explaining the basics, and something never seen on youtube is the slow mo part, to really show how it works !
Cheers mate and enjoy playing ! 😊

One of the most recognized sounds in metal, if you can't pick up on that beat you"re probably a boy band drummer.
Phantasm GD I was just thinking that
But guys, listen carefully to Thomas his very clear explanation. This is actually the first time I understand Bleed and it's not that much of a rocket science, it's just the combo of rhythms that's majestic.

Ahahah yeah, I've been asked what shoes I am using 😉
the idea behind it and the explanation you give sounds so simple bu the execution is a whole different beast. this is insanely clean and super satisfying to watch
I’m pretty sure it’s fake 66samus had a video on it I don’t know it is super clean
Well Samus came to apologise personally but never said anything to his community. It lets him earn so much visibility and money to create discord among drummers and start his little "hate-react war" 😊
Every musicians who wants to live thanks to youtube must go by unrelated sponsors, reaction videos because it is what the average population is seeking… but I just think it is sad for him, being a good drummer but not such a nice guy.
I really would prefer he stayed someone who could influence drummers to keep focusing on their dreams, never stop practicing… but no, he prefers to dash on little amateur drummers just like me xD
@@ThomasCremier Agreed. I saw Samus being a jerk to Lord Marco online, talking trash about him. So I unsubscribed from samus channel after that. Drummers are supposed to be a brotherhood.
@@WretchedDrummer Thank you for doing that and your words. Samus is nothing but an entertainment for non drummers… It would be much better fi he used his influence and visibility to share passion and inspire drummers to keep playing … but he prefers to created nothing but trash videos … his drumming videos doesn't evolve, but certainly he likes being sponsored by razors for balls xD
You are an ace teacher! So clear and simple and concise. Not too much talking. So many American drum teaching video’s are 90% talking and very little showing.
I tried to do this video as I was the guy looking at it to understand the technique, and yeah, there are too much videos with too much talking.. 😉

@@joelansinger8527 Found the elitist. Do I get a prize?
@@joelansinger8527 Elitist and a sore loser? Goddamn, it's my lucky day!
@@nigelproctor I honestly don't see why people get so caught up on the whole 'cheating' thing. All that matters is whether it sounds good.
@@joelansinger8527 Check out what John Longstreth is doing with this technique. He gets the power on both strokes. It's a slight variation on this.
But keep in mind that even he uses triggers, because if he didn't, his speed would be a muddle on an acoustic kit. This technique has been developed for speed. An acoustic bass drum, by its very nature, is compromised at these speeds. Triggers are the only thing that will make the speed negotiable, irrespective of the foot technique.

his pedals are so clean in every way its insane i wish
Thanks man ! \m/
His pedal is crucial. Can only truly get that technique down that well with that kind of pedal. I was using an iron cobra and couldn’t do even close to this.. then I got a direct drive with no heel plate and it’s effortless. Triggers are absolutely needed for this as well.
That's what I was thinking. I would bow down to anyone who can get that consistent and powerful of a sound without doing this with triggers.
That's what I thought. I'm playing full natural on a normal double pedal (Sonor low class) and God it's hard for me getting to 180 with consistency. Still improving but damn it's hard.
No triggers btw.
@@darkwill15
Try the ankle technique, that works with chain driven pedals and you can play until 240 a 250 bpm without triggers. Faster as well, but then the definition of the sound gets blurry. And less volume as well.
To be honest, I can do the same thing on my Pearl Eliminator, chain drive, short board.
It won’t be as comfortable yes. But I can play the same thing.
Gear is just a tool. Without technique you won’t play faster or better if you just have a better pedals or any equipment.
Give a beginner guitarist the greatest guitar on earth, he won’t make it sound great, at the contrary.
But give the cheapest guitar to a pro guitarist, he will make it sound good and transfer emotions 😊
But what I can say about triggers, is that it is necessary for fast tempos, whatever technique you are using (swivel, heel toe, heel up, heel down….). Or else, it will be a buzzing sound.
Triggers are needed for fats tempo to be heard and having the precise attack 😊.
@@ThomasCremier
Thanks for the encouragement man, I've already tried and I'm getting progress. I expect to be able to do it in a couple of months. Still, I'm buying some new pedals (Speed cobra), cause I think they will help.
About triggers, yeah, thanks for the honesty. Ill buy them aswell in the near future (probably before April cause touring with my band) so there's that.
