Aaron was right, most of the other D&D creators have given up on shield in solo because of the net-code and reliability issues. Moving faster than your opponent is just a better defense... That makes this content unique and good! Also the idea of carrying a mace AND an arming sword in is GENIUS! I have seen so many videos explaining how a weapon is situational and saying that carrying a weapon that is more well-rounded is better. WHY NOT CARRY BOTH AND USE THE SITUATIONAL ONE FOR THE SITUATIONS IT IS GOOD IN!? Blinn you could pioneer this strat!
This was a really great comment, thanks!! Yes the server stability/sync is at best capricious (at worst utter jank), but I think a lot of player misunderstand getting hit on the flanks as "server issues" since the camera/shield relationship is weird and people don't realize how much of their bodies are exposed above/beside/below the shield. It's taken literally months to get a basic handle, but the gameplay is super fun and I think it's one of the most interesting melee-based skill areas to explore. Glad also you think swapping weapons based on the opponent/situation is interesting! I find that I'm more prone to swapping shields based on situations, rather than my weapon these days -- just because I'm so fond/comfortable with the arming sword. Lots more content to come, thanks again for your positive vibes!!
Great video as always.. love how you walk us threw the fights and your thought proces.. I do also really enjoy your videos when you talk us threw your items and what to look for on the auction house.. Keep doing what you are doing.. looking forward to your next video Blinn!!
thank you sir! the gameplay vids really help me post quicker.. but I'll be sure to keep up with guides/equipment-focused stuff too :) thanks for sharing your thoughts!!
i enjoy both video styles. The one you usually do mixing loadup scenes with gameplay is very interesting as the fight scenes are just an added feature to the topic youre trying to cover, so that style is way more useful as you try to share some knowledge. This gameplay style is just that, gameplay with your commentary, also great. Cheers buddy, I'm really enjoying your vids and they did inspire me to build up my Fighter and try to improve him
huzzah!! thanks for your feedback on the two video style I bounce between -- so great to hear both formats have something interesting to offer & I'm glad you're feeling inspired to work on your fighter. Keep me posted on your progress!!
@@Btk780 HOLY F-ING CRAP, REALLY????!! I used to main slayer, but switched over once I learned the power of blocking.. will DEFINITELY need to try that!! thanks man :)
i watched ur other vids and i loved it no one doing any shield and sword and it actually changed my playstyle lmfao bin waiting a while for u to bring out more
Love this style of video! great to just see some fights and let em rip with some commentary on top. Also great to see some losses. I also find rangers reaaally hard match up as spears hit animation starts up past the shield sometimes and you dont get blocks.
Haha glad you appreciate seeing some losses. It's definitely easy to just pick the winners for the video :) For spear blocking, I totally agree - my strategy vs. spear is to get as close as I can and side strafe the first 2 stab attacks (spear users have a hard time landing stab hits if you're close, and moving quickly left/right). Then I look for the 3rd attack in the combo, which is the downward swing. That one is a LOT easier to block reliably. Good luck to you!!
Good fights brother. I think in some of those fights you need to push forward slightly longer before swinging as some opponents (especially the last fight) are able to back out of range of your counter attack.
This form of content is really good to see them slowly between matches and have time to try it out or diggest it more slowly as well as think how I would played it, what do you think of using shield bash to disengage instead of sprint?
Blinn, if you want to blame me for people not liking the video, You have to _actually_ make a bad video.. 😉 but seriously, wasn't expecting a mention, it's always great to see your fights so this was amazing! On another note, I was so surprised that the 2 rogues almost got you. I have always just traded them (from full health) and been fine, maybe they are the exception to this play style? you are more experienced in this than me so it would be good to know your thoughts.
Thanks again for the video idea my guy! Feels like it's another tool in the ol' content box (specially for when my schedule is busier), and I dont think I would have ever tried it without the nudge :) I think the close calls with the rogues come down to me trying too hard to block their attacks (and missing). When I get into a blocking-first mindset, I don't try to space and end up taking more hits.. also the poison is wicked chip damage. Sure different players have different skills, but really now with 20K+ people in the mix, you never know who you'll be up against! Happy weekend!!
Im a new player just started with this game, playing fighter with lanter shield. I noticedin some fights you changed weapons straight formyour inventory. Do you usually carry alternate weapons and shield to try to one ip matchups, or do you just make do with what you find in the dungeon. Also, whatsn your take on the weapon master perk. I picked it up to have a bow as my secondary since the crossbow is kind of slow, but then again its a perk slot that could potentially be used for something more useful. Your content is great btw, super useful.
good question! I choose the arming sword because it swings faster than the viking sword. there are other reasons too, and I talk about them in this portion of an old video: ua-cam.com/video/ULI0_C2l1Ns/v-deo.htmlsi=VYecv04bygnbfFzq&t=991 hope this helps!
@@DeleterAIM Slayer build I'd still recommend an arming sword (rather than a viking or falchion) since the arming sword swing soooo fast.. pair it with a short sword and you can do a really quick combo of: right click, left click, left click !!
Could you explain why you would use sprint over taunt? I know the general use for it because as a Fighter ''we'' have to chase a lot of charachters that kite the Fighter class. However I thought Taunt is just so good we take it over Sprint. Please enlighten a beginner like me! Thanks for the video!
hey, must say I don't have much experience with taunt! I just know from personal taste that I prefer to have a mobility boost at my disposal. personal comfort with your build (to give you confidence and mitigate frustration) is almost as important as the skills themselves. kept finding that when I didn't have sprint, I always wanted it, even if it's not 100% optimal. gotta choose our own adventure! :) good luck friend
new goblins feels good so-far, and I love the foggy/volumetric effect in the later stages! a bit annoying with the LOUD ROCKFALL SOUNDS, but maybe they'll dial that back a bit haha. also the chaos elevator in the middle room is always good for a laugh. how about you?
after a successful block, you right-click (same button as blocking in the first place). this needs to happen within a short window of time after the block, and you can riposte with a 2-attack combo if you want. hope this helps!!
@@JohnSmith67355 ahhhh gotcha -- prolly coz I was trying to talk faster in the post-combat commentary (didn't want the video to be 55 mins haha). I'll try to keep it more chill next time :)
