Thank you. Always impressed by the general layout of your garage. How about a video giving us a tour showing your organizational tips for setting up a garage. Not sure if you sleep out there or not. Maybe a theme like what you would do if you had a brand new empty garage! Big storm now - time to start blowing.

The only real problem with this beast is its steep price tag and the fact that it is designed more for daily commercial use rather than being used residentially every few weeks. Don’t get me wrong this is the best walk behind concrete edger you can buy and it’ll last you a long time. But if you’re not going to be using it very often, you might be better off looking at less expensive options. I just use a Stihl FS 56 handheld concrete edger and it has been a very good piece of equipment for me.
The price is VERY steep on these that’s for sure! Perhaps we’ll mess around with some other next year! Thanks for watching BCSERK!

The Mclane we have belonged to my wife's grandparents. I replaced the engine with a used Honda GX120 thirty years ago. Still going.

That is an awesome machine. The only concern is the belt drive. In my very limited experience using these I found the always stopped when hit with a ruff patch of overgrown grass. While a direct drive blade cuts through it.
HEY ED! Good to hear from you as always! I’m happy to report my last edger was a belt driven blade and never had any mechanical issues. I think it’s safe to say we’re gonna be good and I didn’t read any issues here with the belt. A direct drive would give it a lot of power! Thanks for watching my friend! I am trying to find the proper break-in for a new McLane Edger. What do you recommend? I just picked up one of these bad boys for $899 (gulp) Enjoyed your videos so far
Hey gauge! Run it for 30 minutes and change the oil. Then again at 5 hours. Then just once a season after that should do. 👍👍👍 enjoy the nice edges my friend. That thing should last you a lifetime
Another great video, JB. Does it make sense to throw a stainless steel washer on that control rod between the cotter pin and the mounting hole? At the very least it might stop your pin from scratching that beautiful yellow or red powder coat, no?

I bought one at an estate sale 2 years ago and haven't looked back. McLane is to edgers as Stihl is to chainsaws. Don't get anything else. It puts a nice professional edge on my lawn and I do a couple of neighbors too.Blades are cheap and I have yet to change the belt, it still looks and works well. I love my McLane.

Hey JB, I got tired of edging with my weed Wacker last summer @ bought a "Earthquake" brand edger last summer-not as "Top of the line" as your McClane, but it's a tough little machine, @ easier than w/Wacker for an edge!

That simple clip and wheel slide thing in front is really slick. Nothing fancy, but so effective. Love it.

I just got a Little wonder pro edger with a Honda....man I like it.......and now I picked up another one ....deluxe edger with the swivel head--kinda like that McLane. I think that can be used for light bed edging.....with all those angles....

One thing you mentioned that also grinds my gears is -- the manuels ....there are always so many pages. No matter what you buy. Wouldn't it be great if the manufacturers print 2 different books. 1 for English and 1 for Spanish. I have some manuels that also have French and German. All 4 languages in 1 book. Wasted paper and my time to rip out the ones I dont read and understand. Just saying.

Interesting product, interesting company. Their website only lists a small handful of products. Maybe it's a small company, and that's why the order processing / shipping takes longer. I actually like supporting small, family-run businesses...even if it requires a little extra patience.

Hey JB, thanks for the info as always. I had a craftsman edger that I absolutely hated, so last summer, I sold it and bought a rotary scissors attachment for my Stihl weed whacker. I like it much better than my edger. I think if I would have owned one of these McClain models, I wouldn't have went with the rotary scissors. Good job!

Great review, and I'm onboard except I can't pay that much unless I save up, but that's a lot of moolah! I do need this type of walk behind edger because the handheld options are too much for my old arthritic hands and arms. I'll do some research and check out the options. @@GarageGear I've never been one to buy cheap, and I've learned to be patient and it will come to me. I had my wife watch your video and another one about this edger, and I do believe this is the one we'll get, but probably with the Briggs & Stratton. We spend most of our time around the house and we've got a wonderful yard that's soon to get bumped up when I get the McLane walk behind edger... Thanks again!

Cool. I have an echo blade edger. I've had it over 20 years. I easily have between 800 to 1000 lf of edging. I've never had to have it serviced. I've replaced the fuel and air filters a few times. I empty the tank and run it dry for the winter.... if that bad boy wasn't still running I'd consider getting your new toy

Thanks for all the wonderful information can't even get this information on mclane website. So after watching your site and doing some homework. I pulled the trigger and ordered directly from mclane. Got the Honda and metal wheels. I must say mclane has stepped there game up I ordered late July 4 2023. I called them July 6 to see if they processed my order within a few minutes I was told it would be 3-5 business days before it would be processed and I would receive an email. Well I received an email July 10 saying my order was processed & shipping soon. I must say it was fast I just received my unit July 14,2023 can't wait to unbox this bad boy tomorrow. My location baton rouge la. $1,020 final price no tax.

JB that is a great machine.I have a Little Wonder Edger Commercial From 1994 It has a Tecumseh engine that starts second pull. I will send a picture when I get to the shed. Several parts in the Mclane edger are very similar or the same as the Little Wonder. I also have 2 Toro Super Recycler Mowers from 1997. The toros run great parts are becoming an issue. Another great video👍

Yes! Plastic wheels wear down faster and the axle hole will also wear over time! No issues with the metal holes. Great upgrade if you’re planning on keep the machine for a long time! 👍
