Thank you. Always impressed by the general layout of your garage. How about a video giving us a tour showing your organizational tips for setting up a garage. Not sure if you sleep out there or not. Maybe a theme like what you would do if you had a brand new empty garage! Big storm now - time to start blowing.
Hey Ted! I could do one perhaps in the summer time when I have some additional filming time. Appreciate you and your positive feedback as always bud! Happy snowblowing!
Great Video! I have the briggs version. I loosened the spring bolt behind the engagement handle to make it easier to engage the blade. Thanks for the great vids!!!
That is an awesome machine. The only concern is the belt drive. In my very limited experience using these I found the always stopped when hit with a ruff patch of overgrown grass. While a direct drive blade cuts through it.
HEY ED! Good to hear from you as always! I’m happy to report my last edger was a belt driven blade and never had any mechanical issues. I think it’s safe to say we’re gonna be good and I didn’t read any issues here with the belt. A direct drive would give it a lot of power! Thanks for watching my friend! Have a good rest of your week! 👍
You can get a cheap one on Amazon or from harbor freight to get the job done. I think mine was about $15. Here is a link to a cheap one that will get the job done. amzn.to/3SQVunA thanks for watching sgt!
I am trying to find the proper break-in for a new McLane Edger. What do you recommend? I just picked up one of these bad boys for $899 (gulp) Enjoyed your videos so far
Hey gauge! Run it for 30 minutes and change the oil. Then again at 5 hours. Then just once a season after that should do. 👍👍👍 enjoy the nice edges my friend. That thing should last you a lifetime
The only real problem with this beast is its steep price tag and the fact that it is designed more for daily commercial use rather than being used residentially every few weeks. Don’t get me wrong this is the best walk behind concrete edger you can buy and it’ll last you a long time. But if you’re not going to be using it very often, you might be better off looking at less expensive options. I just use a Stihl FS 56 handheld concrete edger and it has been a very good piece of equipment for me.
Another great video, JB. Does it make sense to throw a stainless steel washer on that control rod between the cotter pin and the mounting hole? At the very least it might stop your pin from scratching that beautiful yellow or red powder coat, no?
I agree with your thoughts Douglas! I wanted to stick with the instructions for the assembly for this video though! My other edger is set up that way! I like where your head is at! Thanks for watching my friend!
I bought one at an estate sale 2 years ago and haven't looked back. McLane is to edgers as Stihl is to chainsaws. Don't get anything else. It puts a nice professional edge on my lawn and I do a couple of neighbors too.Blades are cheap and I have yet to change the belt, it still looks and works well. I love my McLane.
Yeah.....I too recently bought a yellow McLane edger, good decision, built to order but on accident they just sent it to J.B.'s house. Glad to see you put my new edger together, J.B! I'll swing by soon and pick her up. 👍Thanks much, buddy. 😄
Swing by anytime bud! You’ll have to arm wrestle me for her though! I’ll test her out for ya too in the coming weeks! My edges don’t stand a chance! Have a good week my friend!
Hey JB, I got tired of edging with my weed Wacker last summer @ bought a "Earthquake" brand edger last summer-not as "Top of the line" as your McClane, but it's a tough little machine, @ easier than w/Wacker for an edge!
Hey yale! I’m a fan of just about any walk behind edger! Walking sideways all those feet with a stick edger or trimmer is cumbersome and annoying! Lawn season is coming up quick! Thanks for watching bud!
Edger? I don't even know her! (Sorry, couldn't resist!) Interesting product, interesting company. Their website only lists a small handful of products. Maybe it's a small company, and that's why the order processing / shipping takes longer. I actually like supporting small, family-run businesses...even if it requires a little extra patience.
Lol Totally agree Mace! I am happy to support American made small businesses! And perhaps that is the reason why shipping takes longer. They only build a few products but absolutely nail it! Any plans for the weekend?
sweet unit. I like the steel wheel upgrade. I just got a Little wonder pro edger with a Honda....man I like it.......and now I picked up another one ....deluxe edger with the swivel head--kinda like that McLane. I think that can be used for light bed edging.....with all those angles.... enjoy your machine, your deserve it. You work very Hard Bud......
Hey JB, thanks for the info as always. I had a craftsman edger that I absolutely hated, so last summer, I sold it and bought a rotary scissors attachment for my Stihl weed whacker. I like it much better than my edger. I think if I would have owned one of these McClain models, I wouldn't have went with the rotary scissors. Good job!
Ooooh man! That's an awesome lawn edger JB! USA made too!! You definitely have a lot of edging to do. With all the adjustments will that edge around curbing? I'm sure you'll have that all coated even b4 it's maiden voyage. I'm a firm believer you get what you pay for. And stickers ta boot!!! Awesome video and you can't beat a Honda engine! What's up for the weekend?
Definitely excited to give this thing a test run! Couple quick adjustments and it can ride right up curbs! Interested to see how well it works. Got some filming to do today! How about you?
Great review, and I'm onboard except I can't pay that much unless I save up, but that's a lot of moolah! I do need this type of walk behind edger because the handheld options are too much for my old arthritic hands and arms. I'll do some research and check out the options. (new sub) Thanks and Blessings!
Hey drummer! I understand where you’re coming from. If you can save up the extra money for this one it will be well worth your efforts. There are some other options out there but as far as quality goes I’m not sure! Thanks for subscribing!👍
@@GarageGear I've never been one to buy cheap, and I've learned to be patient and it will come to me. I had my wife watch your video and another one about this edger, and I do believe this is the one we'll get, but probably with the Briggs & Stratton. We spend most of our time around the house and we've got a wonderful yard that's soon to get bumped up when I get the McLane walk behind edger... Thanks again!
Cool. I have an echo blade edger. I've had it over 20 years. I easily have between 800 to 1000 lf of edging. I've never had to have it serviced. I've replaced the fuel and air filters a few times. You’re going to love it, my friend. That’s an awesome machine and you’ll have it for the rest of your life. Wait until you see how easy it starts. Enjoy the edge!
Yes! Plastic wheels wear down faster and the axle hole will also wear over time! No issues with the metal holes. Great upgrade if you’re planning on keep the machine for a long time! 👍
