That little keychain is actually a little take-down tool. On the mag end of that keychain is a flathead driver that you can use to turn the take down pin
I bought a GX4 a few months ago and I have to admit, I felt like kicking myself when this came out. After thinking about it, I remembered why I got the GX4 in the first place. I wanted a very minimalist gun that I can wear anywhere with anything. The non-TORO GX4 is that. I have a Glock 43x MOS and a Canik TP9 Elite SC, both with optics. I'm glad that I have what I have.
I see you have good taste. I have the dames one you do just add a Shield Plus to the group. Enjoy them all but I got the Tarus like you to have a bare bones easy to carry firearm. I added the Ameriglo night sight to the front and that was all it needed. Great little pistol !
Exactly! Minimalist. If your gonna edc then u want really a bare bones pistol. If a time comes that one ever has to use their edc weapon, it will be split second time point blank range.

I agree. The whole point of this new micro compact class of firearms is to be as small and size efficient as possible. The instant you start adding optics, lights, and other stuff to it you basically throw that all out the window. I use mine for pocket carry. That would be rather difficult if it had an optic.

The Stainless Steel Chassis System IS the reason the GX4 is less Snappy than any other Micro 9... It absorbs most of the kinetic energy into the center mass of the Chassis so the muzzle doesnt try to flip. This alone gives the GX4 an edge over all the other Micro 9s that cost far more than it. Added Value.
Almost every thing they have put out since the G2C has been pretty solid for me. They have made tremendous strides as far as quality. Nothing but good to say about where they are now.
I'm just happy to see that Taurus can build a semi-auto without a manual safety. I hate their safeties. The GX4 looks like a decent gun for a good price. Thanks for the review.
I bought the standard GX4 and instead went with the Veridian E series laser specifically made for the GX4 ! Easy to install and sight in and turned my pistol to a deadly accurate carry gun out to 15 yards ! Shoots further and still effective ! The speed that the laser picks up the target sure helps this 65 year old shooter !

On my Toro model I have a CT red dot and a TLR6 laser flashlight combo ! Again specifically for the GX4! I love them ! Both have over 1000 rounds through them with zero fails !
I actually owned the Taurus titanium ultralite 38 Special snub nose revolver with no hammer for over 15 years and I loved that gun!!!!!! It's similar to this gun, its small and packs a lot of power. This one is definitely not bad for an automatic actually love it it reminds me of the 22 and the small 380. I'm a tiny person so it's nice to find guns small like this that I can use to still defend myself but yet properly hold and operate the same time. I love the Taurus Gun Company. I just recently bought me a smaller 9 mm Taurus. The craftsmanship on it is pretty damn good I must say.
I have a gx4 already and I hope that Taurus puts the optic cut slides on the website like they did with the g3c. Taurus is coming up with their guns and still keeping them at a good price. Thanks for the review

Still have it and have shot at least 900 rounds with it without a single hiccup. I also bought a Taurus Judge Defender in stainless. That’s another wonderfully made revolver, but I digress. Yeah, I like my TX22 and GX4 as well. The price point was right, but after owning and shooting both through hundreds of rounds I believe they are not just budget guns. These firearms compete well against their competitors.
I am impressed with the Toro from Taurus. And $468 with the optic choice raising the price. 11+1 and 13+1 magazine capacity. Memory pad is unique and the full stainless steel rails are grand.
I bought a G2C for a truck gun and hated the trigger. I replaced that with the GX4 for the truck based on the good value in price. I got mine for $309.00. I am very impressed with the GX4. I'll still be POed if someone breaks in and steals my GX4, but less so than if they got my $500 + G43.

Just bought mine at Academy Sports for $306 and a 13 round mag for $20.00. Its one of the few small frame guns that the slide release works and they have shortened the trigger pull from the G2 and G3
They are killing it I’ve had the G2C and now own the G3 and both are epic for the price. I hope they stay budget too it will cause the other company to come down in price.
With this new optics ready gx4 Taurus has actually unknowingly dropped the value on the original Gx4 Taurus does things like that thanks scootch for the video
I purchased the Taurus G3c 2 weeks ago I haven’t shot it yet but I did go ahead and clean the gun,read the manual, and get used to the gun feeling in my hands I personally don’t like optic sights on handguns I never did just feel like it makes the gun look bad but that’s just my opinion! Sootch, your reviews are spot on and we all know it’s to each his own. I’d say “IMO” I’ll stay away from a red dot sight or optic. In a true self defense situation most likely you will not be taking the time to “get on the sights “. My P365 has some pretty cheap sights on it, but who’s going to care if I ever have to draw and use, most likely within very close distance to the target. I sadly find it somewhat humorous for those who trick out these EDC pistols, I’m going to say they have never shot a round or been in a situation where their life or someone with them was in danger.
Mine came with a front and rear white dot sight. I did purchase mine used, it looks new, but it’s possible that the sight was switched out, but I doubt it considering that would be a downgrade.
I agree 100%. Plus if your gonna EDC, you really don’t want bulk. I like to use the term minimalist. I EDC a Glock 43x. No add ons or red dot optics. Just a plain gun that will go bang. I own a G2C & been eyeballing the GX4. Think I’m gonna pull the trigger on one very soon.
Red dots are the now. You threat focus when using them. Therefore theres no sights to line up. Dot on target pull the trigger. In a defense or offensive situation you better know where your sights are. 100% accountability. Every round is attached to a lawyer. Train accordingly.

Ugh. I don't "need" one of these, but found a heckuva deal. GX4 Optic ready. one 13 round and one 11 round mag. $275 +$20 ship + $20 FFL. No tax. + $25 rebate After all said and done I can get this for $290 I already have a P365 and Shield Plus. This firearms ownership is an addiction.
if its cheaper than most, I like it. Save money now and use the difference on a range day. or some well made self defense ammo. or a holster or whatever you want.... its your money.

I have been really liking the Taurus brand lately too ..the TX22 is what attracted me to them it seems like the best 22 on the market to me... its also nice that one of the least expensive brands is also one of the best brands... their 9's are nice but I don't know about that Holosun it seems rather bulky in the wrong place for me... I would like to see a video covering the different options in sights and how they are best used why choose fiberoptic over steel and how do you aim with a red dot vs using fixed sights.. i think in a self defense application a red dot allows you to not view your target through your sights and depend on the dot on your target and watch your target and what is happening in front of you more than being fixed on your back sight if you know what I mean. anyway good review.. probably won't be buying one but I am sure it will be well liked by many.
I just purchased my first gun a few months back in the Taurus G2C and I’m in love with the newest Taurus line I think I’m going to modify my G2C for more range fun and I’m looking at the Gx4 for carry
I think this is the best pistol Taurus ever made. They should make it in compact and full size too. Ps: in the bottom of the keychain you have the screwdriver to disassemble it.
Great video review as always! My opinion though on any red dot optic for edc, they are in a league of their own at the range, but for edc I will stick to open sights.
Is it my imagination but this wee pistol has minimal muzzle flip compared to full size models. I wonder has the addition of the Holosun contributed to this. Either way Taurus have knocked it out of the park with this one.
I bought this gun based on your review. It is impressive, well made and comparable to all the best micro-compact 9MMs out there. @ about 1600 rounds my firing pin broke. I noticed the firing pin drag on the struck primers when I fired my first shots and knew that was common on micro-compacts as were firing pins breaking but it wasn't a huge concern. Firing pins are cheap right? Now, getting off the phone with Taurus and finding out they won't sell me a firing pin, I have to send them the gun and it cost a lot to ship it that's not covered by the warranty and it will take 4 to 8 weeks just to take the back plate off the slide and change the firing pin makes me realize I wasted my money buying this. I'm sticking with Glocks and Sigs.
Taurus has really stepped up their game I really like this compact 9mm. I have to go to the gun store and put one in my hand to see how it feels. Thanks for sharing. #PEACE✌🏾
I have handled all the micro 9mm and the Gx4 felt the best in my hands. So that's what I went with. And I was not a fan of Taurus at all until 2020. But they aren't half bad now.
I've never been more excited for a Taurus. I currently carry a G43 and I've been looking into upgrading to either a g43x, p365xl, or the hellcat.... but I think Taurus really hit it out of the park with the GX4 T.O.R.O.
I have shot the majority of the micros , only missing the Ruger. I have to say I enjoy shooting the GX4 more than most. Only the Shield Plus mitigates recoil as well as the Tarus. I also find the Tarus very flat shooting. It is better than most if they were all the same price but at the price you can pick the Tarus up for ($299 to $349 ) it is the steal of the year in the micro 9 category. I like shooting optics but don't really want it on a EDC gun. You can purchase a Ameriglo front night sight from Tarus for $30. That's a no lose deal. Great review on a great EDC pistol. That's right I said it, the Tarus is a great EDC pistol !
All of these micro 9's look a like! The only one I have shot is the sig p365 and it was nice. Not as snappy as I thought it would be. Great video as usual!
I'm telling u I own the gx4 and hellcat paid 300 for the gx4 and 639 for the hellcat both non optic ready models, I'm telling u the gods honest truth right out of the box side by side it's hard to tell them apart, but where it gets interesting is the trigger on the gx4 is like ten times better, and just the slide is tighter if they had opposite names I wouldn't be surprised I'm buying the gx4 in the optic modern not waisting my time on the hellcat lol
I have always liked Taurus, I have 3 handguns that are 30 years old and work fine . I will get an updated model soon. In good old N.Y. you cant have more than 10 rds. I need to move to a better State.
Crazy good price for all you get... i got my gx4 TORO for $379. I was expecting two mags, but was excited to see a 13+1; especially movin up from a g3c.
700 rounds thru mine. 1 stovepipe in first 250 that might have been me limpwristing. 0 failures after that. Definitely competes and is better than max 9 for sure
I have a Taurus TX 22 with no safety. Very nice gun. This looks like a mini gun of that model. Great video as usual 👍. Very nice little gun. I went with the P365X with a holosun 407k x2 and tlr6. I haven't even shot it yet.

Lakeline makes a ported barrel. I'm sure it's subjective but have a feeling it will make it seem much flatter than it already is.

They are really are stepping up their game! I have a PT111 G2 and love it, the trigger has improved with the round count. Love my PT 111G 2.

What sights are on yours? I thought they all come equipped with the Xray3 night sights. Those are some great sights

This is a great little gun very accurate and will be my new edc
I have been really liking the Taurus brand lately too ..the TX22 is what attracted me to them it seems like the best 22 on the market to me... its also nice that one of the least expensive brands is also one of the best brands... their 9's are nice but I don't know about that Holosun it seems rather bulky in the wrong place for me... I would like to see a video covering the different options in sights and how they are best used why choose fiberoptic over steel and how do you aim with a red dot vs using fixed sights.. i think in a self defense application a red dot allows you to not view your target through your sights and depend on the dot on your target and watch your target and what is happening in front of you more than being fixed on your back sight if you know what I mean. anyway good review.. probably won't be buying one but I am sure it will be well liked by many.
I just purchased my first gun a few months back in the Taurus G2C and I’m in love with the newest Taurus line I think I’m going to modify my G2C for more range fun and I’m looking at the Gx4 for carry

I think this is the best pistol Taurus ever made. They should make it in compact and full size too.
Ps: in the bottom of the keychain you have the screwdriver to disassemble it.
Great video review as always! My opinion though on any red dot optic for edc, they are in a league of their own at the range, but for edc I will stick to open sights.
Is it my imagination but this wee pistol has minimal muzzle flip compared to full size models. I wonder has the addition of the Holosun contributed to this. Either way Taurus have knocked it out of the park with this one.

I bought this gun based on your review. It is impressive, well made and comparable to all the best micro-compact 9MMs out there. @ about 1600 rounds my firing pin broke. I noticed the firing pin drag on the struck primers when I fired my first shots and knew that was common on micro-compacts as were firing pins breaking but it wasn't a huge concern. Firing pins are cheap right? Now, getting off the phone with Taurus and finding out they won't sell me a firing pin, I have to send them the gun and it cost a lot to ship it that's not covered by the warranty and it will take 4 to 8 weeks just to take the back plate off the slide and change the firing pin makes me realize I wasted my money buying this. I'm sticking with Glocks and Sigs.

I have handled all the micro 9mm and the Gx4 felt the best in my hands. So that's what I went with. And I was not a fan of Taurus at all until 2020. But they aren't half bad now.
I've never been more excited for a Taurus. I currently carry a G43 and I've been looking into upgrading to either a g43x, p365xl, or the hellcat.... but I think Taurus really hit it out of the park with the GX4 T.O.R.O.
all great choices. I own a 43x and 365xl. I prefer carrying the sig to be honest; just for my body type mainly. Winter months the 43x will shine well.
I hope Taurus will be offering a slide only option like the G3 / G3c. I love my GX4
Same. I'm considering the viridian laser instead. What are your thoughts on the laser options? They have pros and cons but may be worth it. Idk.
I’m a little late to the party, but as of December 2022 they sell the Toro slide for about $200.
I have shot the majority of the micros , only missing the Ruger. I have to say I enjoy shooting the GX4 more than most. Only the Shield Plus mitigates recoil as well as the Tarus. I also find the Tarus very flat shooting. It is better than most if they were all the same price but at the price you can pick the Tarus up for ($299 to $349 ) it is the steal of the year in the micro 9 category. I like shooting optics but don't really want it on a EDC gun. You can purchase a Ameriglo front night sight from Tarus for $30. That's a no lose deal. Great review on a great EDC pistol. That's right I said it, the Tarus is a great EDC pistol !

All of these micro 9's look a like! The only one I have shot is the sig p365 and it was nice. Not as snappy as I thought it would be. Great video as usual!
Chassis comes out like the Nano and the guts have @ 8 or 9 total parts to it. It's great.
I'm telling u I own the gx4 and hellcat paid 300 for the gx4 and 639 for the hellcat both non optic ready models, I'm telling u the gods honest truth right out of the box side by side it's hard to tell them apart, but where it gets interesting is the trigger on the gx4 is like ten times better, and just the slide is tighter if they had opposite names I wouldn't be surprised I'm buying the gx4 in the optic modern not waisting my time on the hellcat lol
I have always liked Taurus, I have 3 handguns that are 30 years old and work fine . I will get an updated model soon. In good old N.Y. you cant have more than 10 rds. I need to move to a better State.

Crazy good price for all you get... i got my gx4 TORO for $379. I was expecting two mags, but was excited to see a 13+1; especially movin up from a g3c.
extended mag defeats the purpose of micro subcompact cc pistols. Optic is big and bulky and also defeats the purpose of cc micro pistol. Why?
700 rounds thru mine. 1 stovepipe in first 250 that might have been me limpwristing. 0 failures after that. Definitely competes and is better than max 9 for sure
I have a Taurus TX 22 with no safety. Very nice gun. This looks like a mini gun of that model. Great video as usual 👍. Very nice little gun. I went with the P365X with a holosun 407k x2 and tlr6. I haven't even shot it yet.
