After getting and trading away multiple carry guns, I ultimately settled with the Gx4. Great trigger, size, weight, and price. Got a holster and Vortex defender all under $475. Great set up on a budget
@ARFCOMReviews 500 FMJs and about 100 HP's only issue was a dud round from Ammo Inc. Biggest flaw of the Gx4 is no pic rail. However Taurus's website has sales like 20% off everything and spare parts are cheap and can buy pinky extension mag to get a full grip. Bestest flaw in my set up is the Vortex defender ccw.
oh man we're the same. I literally had every micro carry 9mm, traded and sold them all. Settled on the gx4 carry. Sweet pistol, and probably the best shooting gun i've owned.
So, I have the 365XL and the Hellcat Pro...I have recently purchased the GX4 Carry and love it more than the other two. Everything guys are stating is correct. Upon zeroing red dot optics, I was able to get better grouping than my competitors pistol. This is probably the best carry I keep as my EDC....thanks Taurus!!!
Thanks for the 411 Chris. I was on the fence, I think I'm buying one now. That trigger sounds a bit heavy, but I'll get used to it. Taurus has come a very long way over the last 5 to 6 years. Be safe friend
GX4 with a 13 round mag gives you plenty of room for all 4 fingers solving that problem. Its a reliable easy to shoot, easy to conceal pistol and my edc.
I like the take down on the Taurus, you can use a shell casing to break the gun down so a separate tool is not needed ( Hopefully you have ammo with you )
As a owner of the standard GX4 T.O.R.O, the Hellcat Pro, as well as others in this class, I look forward to adding this to the collection and rotation. I had a feeling that it was coming.
I believe extending the grip and getting rid of that potential irritating gap of an extended mag is the new..Great..thing, imo. Just wish Taurus had a better finish on the slides but maybe that's how they keep some cost down?
This gun is amazing! Shoots flat, great trigger, great magazines and capacity. All around a phenomenal firearm and a solid member of my EDC collection. BTW the take down can be completed with a empty 9mm shell at the range on the fly.
Taurus: Please make a 380 ACP version of the GX4 Carry for those of us with physical issues that cannot handle the recoil of the 9mm . Thanks for listening.
Recently switched from G3C to GX4 for EDC. I have the original GX4. I do use the pinky extension on the magazine. So far so good. I'm surprised how accurate it is for a micro pistol.
Just picked this up July 4th at bass pro for 300$. This is my EDC. I've had no issues accept with the red dot i had on it. It was cutting into my hip. So i went with the Romero. All in all I really enjoy it.
I’d love for Taurus to hear us all say that the takedown key on this is stupid and they should have an after market replacement take down pin that you don’t need a key for.
It's really not stupid because there is nothing protruding from the frame and it is captured so there's no pin to remove which could get lost like on Ruger models, and you can turn it with the rim of a 9mm case so you don't need a separate tool... I bought one a few months ago and think it's probably the best micro 9 mm on the market when all things are considered.
Personally I don't understand what the big deal is I actually like it it's very easy you don't need anything special you can do with a coin. It's very smooth.
Takedown: the rear of a bullet casing can be used to field strip the GX4 line. I think it is the most intuitive and easiest. My unit during reassembly it should lock in to place automatically. However, my unit does not. Or at least I am not doing it correctly.
I have a gx4 and p365x. The gx4 trigger is much heavier, but feels crisper because after the wall, the force drops abruptly and so it feels like it is crisp. The p365x has like 4mm of constant force creep travel after the 'wall', but since its so much lighter and the frame isnt so squared off at the back, I still shoot the sig better.
I think this is a great choice for EDC! This, the Smith & Wesson sheild plus, and the Sig p365 are all pretty comparable to this pistol 😁 I'm glad you enjoyed the review!
Gotta say guys. This is a better gun than your review gives it credit for. I've got a bunch of more expensive options in my collection and this is as good as any of them. In fact it's been 100% reliable, is regularly available for 350 to 375 bucks and has the same capacity as a G19, Hellcat Pro, etc. I wouldn't buy a Sig macro for 649 over the GX4c any day of the week.
I definitely think it punches WAY above it's weight class especially for the cost. Its got all the features you would want in a pistol and has great ergos to boot! I have suggested it multiple times since the review.
I own a GX4 Carry And i havnt shot it yet, but i love the size of it. I must say its been pretty hard for me to find the proper attachments, i found the right green lazer, but im havin a hell of a time finding the proper holster for it. I got mine used for about 250 but it clearly was still brand new💯👍
I ordered one but not to carry. I have the standard GX4 but also not for carry. I carry the standard P365. If it came to needing to send the P365 in for repair for some reason, I would carry the GX4. On both the P365 and the GX4 I can get my pinky 3/4 of the way on the grip without any sort of extension. I ordered the GX4 Carry for funzies. Maybe OWB when I'm camping or something. But definitely not for concealed carry. I need to keep the overall size super small being 5'10" and 130lbs.
I respect a dude that has a backup carry gun! I only have a full size (G17) and a compact (Gen1 S&W sheild) as my ccw guns. The GX4 is a really solid handgun and you're far from under armed when you have to carry it!
Dimensionally nearly identical to my Hellcat Pro but my original GX4 surprisingly shoots more accurately with it's superior trigger, sights, and grip angle for $200 less.
They are about the same. The p365 has a lot more industry support in the form of holsters and accessories, but the base guns are much closer than the price tag would lead you to believe.
Just picked one up from Scheel's this weekend. Overall decent gun. Only had the "automatic " slam close with the slide happen ones. Don't really like the exposed return trigger spring.
I really like my GX4 Carry T.O.R.O, replacing my G3C as edc. I agree with a lot of the statements in the video, however I was not thrilled with the trigger out of the box, finding the pull to be heavier than I was accustomed to, and that wall was no joke. For less than a Jackson, the Reduced Power Spring from Galloway Precision fixed me right up. Noticeable trigger improvement for my GX4 Carry. Can confirm that holster selection is still pretty meager though. Cylee Cat X Pro red dot rounds it out for me. I hope to invest in a barrel/comp upgrade (probably from Lakeline) at some point, maybe negating the “budget” aspect of my “budget carry!” :-)
Even just for the ergos I think the GX4 Carry is worth "investing" in 😊 I'm glad they are getting the aftermarket support you described and you're getting the gun you want out of it 😁
I shot the regular size P365 and was surprised on how well it shot. Then I had a separate opportunity to shoot a M&P Shield Plus and liked it even better. I though that by adding a small amount of extra length on the barrel made it feel better while shooting it. Then I figured I might as well just stick with my regular 4 inch compact pistol and lose the extra weight and girth around my mid section.
Get a box of blanks and you can drop test safely all day long. Looks like a great little pistol, ordered one of your link (nice discount) should be here next week.
They need to make snap caps with a hit indicator on the primer. I'm glad we were able to save you a bit of doll hairs! I hope your pistol treats you well!
It's a nice pistol. I expected it to be a little smaller than it is, but that's ok. It's just a tad lighter than my Glock 19, and just a bit thinner. Only issue at all so far is good freaking luck trying to find a holster for it. In time I guess...
i won’t ever buy a taurus again. I bought a gx4 and a g3c both of them had multiple problems had to send them back they are good now but i won’t trust them ever

Taurus has stepped up their game since the pt111 millennium g2. Ever since there is no reason to spend ridiculous amounts of money or a glockenspiel or kimber.
I definitely agree that they have been making much better products as of late, but Glocks are just more consistently reliable (fewer lemons) and more compatible with holsters/other accessories. I did really like the GX4, but it's not replacing my glock.

Is the back of the frame as squared off as the GX4? That really aggravatea my thumb joint. Did you notice the chamber was loose? I'm seeing expanded/swollen cases out of my GX4.
ok guys, i know you're all younger than i am BUT LIKE how many LIKE times can LIKE you LIKE say "LIKE" in LIKE a LIKE 2 min. LIKE conversation? Just sayin.
Completely agree. Looks, feels and shoots great. I’d take that over Hellcat Pro (personally) any day. P365 x macro for me though. Ask 2 folks and you’ll get three opinions. I am not dissing Springfield, just wasnt for me.

I tested 5 different GX4 guns, and if a bit of right-to-left pressure was put on the trigger while firing, the gun would fail to reset. 4 did it for me, 1 didn't; however, when I told the worker what I was testing for, he tried it, and it failed for him (maybe he pressed harder). I learned about this issue online, but haven't seen much on YT. Anyone know if Taurus ever addressed this?
Interesting, first I’m hearing about it. We didn’t have any issues with trigger resets and shot 100s of rounds through it. Also lots of trigger ghosting.
@@ARFCOMReviews I don't think most people would notice because you have to really TRY to press it left to right as you pull the trigger. However, I could see it happening in a bad situation on accident. I was just wondering if Taurus addressed it (since it had been mentioned online).
FOR PEOPLE WHO BASH OTHER GUN MANUFACTURERS….. Just look at SIG..... 7 warnings... no real recalls.. but they always get a pass with the P320 and P365 problems. I did my research before I bought my weapon. I read the bad and the good. A lot of what I saw was unsubstantiated BS that was not based on fact. Some was but I found that the most every manufacturer has its problems. Here is a partial list up to 8/2003. (my point is, all the majors are on the list.) >Beretta - 1 recall >Browning - 9 recalls/1 Warning >Colt - 5 recalls/2 Warnings >Glock - 1 recall and 2 Warnings including "All calibers of pistols manufactured between Sept 2001 and May 2002 with s/n's starting with E, GSSF or USA >Remington - 56 recalls >Ruger - 6 recalls/7 Warnings >Savage - 1 recalls/4 Warnings >Sigarms - 7 Warnings >Smith & Wesson - 49 recalls/14 Warnings >Springfield Armory - 3 recalls >Taurus - 2 recalls/3 Warnings >Walther - 2 recalls >Winchester - 6 recalls/1 Warning This is my source: Firearm Recalls and Warnings Index on FirearmsID.com
I would have no problems with that setup. Polymer-framed, striker-fired pistols aren't exactly rocket science and with very few notable exceptions, I don't know of any that are supposed to be unreliable.
I have 2 GX4 pistols and I love them! Great triggers, reliable and no😢on any recalls! I was carrying one till I replaced it with a Masada Slim ! Taurus service department is pure crap though! Just throwing that out there lol !
@@JustinDavito I tried to upgrade my G3C with the TORO slide and the optic plate screws were frozen to the point where the wrench twisted and was unusable! The takedown system is way better than Ruger's max 9..and lc9s...and ec9...and lcp. Ruger totally failed to innovate their take down style. This gun feels so much better in the hand then legacy Taurus products. The build quality is on par with the p365. I would say that the M&P sheild plus does feel better made than all of the above, but all of that is subject

I used to be dirt poor, and had to figure out how to make top Ramen and pinto beans interesting (and cheap) I'm not rich, but I'm no longer on the Nissin only meal plan. Taurus feels like a step back to those times. Not to mention Taurus' track record for poor QC control l, this would be a hard pass for me.
Definitely not for everyone, especially if you have the means to buy a more popular firearms. But if this came out back in the day, would you consider it?
Taurus has come a long way in their QC dept. I have the GX4, G3C, G3 and I also had the G2C sold it I didn’t like the trigger . Are you going to get 10k rounds through it without an issue (most likely not?) but, how many people are going to put that many rounds through any gun in a lifetime. I reached out to Taurus and they confirmed my suspicion on that any holster for the GX4XL WILL FIT the GX4 Carry. The more you know 🤙
Very cool!
Is the back of the frame as squared off as the GX4? That really aggravatea my thumb joint.
Did you notice the chamber was loose? I'm seeing expanded/swollen cases out of my GX4.
Unfortunately we do not have a GX4 to compare it to
Great video, guys. Stay safe and God Bless..
You as well!
This video will never have as many likes as were spoken in the video.
🤣🤣🤣 I need to do a count to compare
The holsters is always the big issue. It’s what keeps me from the Gx4. Wanted one. But I only run high and tight OWB minimalist holster designed.
If it sells as well as I think it might we should see some holsters come out for it soon!
The holster for my Tx22 compact works for my G4 carry.
Werkz makes the best holster I've seen for this GX4 Carry TORO. I love it.
Great review
Thank you!

$275 at Scheels for Black Friday!
That is a smoking deal!
Pinches my finger when i pull the trigger. Not bad but it is noticable. And yes, i know how to shoot, have over 30 other handguns.
Ergos can definitely be weird from one person to another. It's actually why I am a big fan of the variety of guns available on the market
Completely agree. Looks, feels and shoots great. I’d take that over Hellcat Pro (personally) any day.
P365 x macro for me though. Ask 2 folks and you’ll get three opinions. I am not dissing Springfield, just wasnt for me.
This posted a while back. I paid $388 for the Taurus GX4 Carry. This is late Feb 2024.
That is an incredible deal!
@@ARFCOMReviews and the TORO version at that. I got mine from Buds guns. Grabagun has it for around the same price.
I paid $308 all in shipped to my FFL for the GX4 Carry TORO. I feel like I picked the right day to look at gundeals...LOL
I love the grip that swell is really nice .
feels real nice in the hand
At the time of this comment buds is selling the toro version for sub 400 doll hairs, mine comes in on Monday to my LGS
That is a steal!
I saw the GX4 carry, think thats what i'll get.
It is a pretty rock solid gun

Taurus needs a full size and compact polymer 10mm
That would be wild 🤣
Unless you're taking down Bears, why????

There's no way anyone paying 500-450 ..379$ ok now I'm into it ..paid what 299 for the gx4xl and was a great deal
Hard to say because most online retailers havent dropped them yet, but im seeming sub $400 prices
Paid 307$ for mine in Dec at a shop ..so I think there 299 almost everywhere on gun deals now ..but I hear ya ..I love the gun and the lakeline LLC ported barrel crushs so its over 600 after the mags a 149$ CT rad pro and barrel ..but I carry this as much as my canik mc9 I also just ordered the PSA micro after your review tonight ..thanks
This is what I keep hearing and what keeps me from buying one.
Taurus refuses to call the gx4 safety notice a recall. Its a safety notice 😂
😅
FOR PEOPLE WHO BASH OTHER GUN MANUFACTURERS….. Just look at SIG..... 7 warnings... no real recalls.. but they always get a pass with the P320 and P365 problems.
I did my research before I bought my weapon. I read the bad and the good. A lot of what I saw was unsubstantiated BS that was not based on fact. Some was but I found that the most every manufacturer has its problems. Here is a partial list up to 8/2003. (my point is, all the majors are on the list.)
>Beretta - 1 recall
>Browning - 9 recalls/1 Warning
>Colt - 5 recalls/2 Warnings
>Glock - 1 recall and 2 Warnings including "All calibers of pistols manufactured between Sept 2001 and May 2002 with s/n's starting with E, GSSF or USA
>Remington - 56 recalls
>Ruger - 6 recalls/7 Warnings
>Savage - 1 recalls/4 Warnings
>Sigarms - 7 Warnings
>Smith & Wesson - 49 recalls/14 Warnings
>Springfield Armory - 3 recalls
>Taurus - 2 recalls/3 Warnings
>Walther - 2 recalls
>Winchester - 6 recalls/1 Warning
This is my source:
Firearm Recalls and Warnings Index on FirearmsID.com
my man did his research
I would have no problems with that setup. Polymer-framed, striker-fired pistols aren't exactly rocket science and with very few notable exceptions, I don't know of any that are supposed to be unreliable.
We can think of a few, but thats not what this video is about!
@@ARFCOMReviews Paul looks better on the internet than in person.
😂😂😂
Please don't tell him I laughed at that....
This sucks i should of waited the gx4 xl i bought last year only has 13 rounds now they make 15 round why couldnt they do this in the first place
Bro this is the story of my life 😅
Very good
Thanks brother!
I have 2 GX4 pistols and I love them! Great triggers, reliable and no😢on any recalls! I was carrying one till I replaced it with a Masada Slim ! Taurus service department is pure crap though! Just throwing that out there lol !
good to know 😅
There customer service was fine for my G3XL lemon. :)
@@JustinDavito I tried to upgrade my G3C with the TORO slide and the optic plate screws were frozen to the point where the wrench twisted and was unusable! They refused to send a replacement slide and refunded the money after I sent it back to them. I asked them to free up the screws and again they refused and said that they couldn’t send a replacement slide either! Sorry! They were BS ! The Taurus guns I have are for sale now!
@@jameslalley3787 oh man. So sorry to hear that. I would try and talk to a supervisor. I had to eventually speak with some specialist after the gun was still having issues after the 3 attempt at a repair.

The takedown system is way better than Ruger's max 9..and lc9s...and ec9...and lcp. Ruger totally failed to innovate their take down style. Still have to remove a pin...and if you lose the pin you're screwed. What an awful takedown system! Doesn't ruger listen to their customers. Man i've had a few ec9s pistols and lc9's. They all had malfunctions even with the best ammo. It's ashame. Srry for the rant

I've been eyeing this gun but I don't trust Taurus to be honest
This gun feels so much better in the hand then legacy Taurus products. The build quality is on par with the p365. I would say that the M&P sheild plus does feel better made than all of the above, but all of that is subject
If you don't trust Taurus, don't buy one. As you know, Sig, Beretta, and Glock have never had a pistol that failed. LMAO
We are not in a recession. 2022 and 2023 are not recession years . We are in a time of inflation but not recession. Get yr economic facts right gentlemen. Just dont “say” stuff to justify the purchase .

I make holsters for the gx4 carry
Sweet!
This will sell well everyone owns a gx4 it seems i see so many on facebook groups and youtube
There is definitely a market for it
I used to be dirt poor, and had to figure out how to make top Ramen and pinto beans interesting (and cheap)
I'm not rich, but I'm no longer on the Nissin only meal plan.
If your on a budget and need a self defense gun this is a good choice. Having a gun for self defense is better than not having one at all.
Oof...couldn't imagine owning a brazilian gun lol
🤣 Well at least nobody is trying to make you lol what's your current EDC?
