As someone that would be considered very experienced with firearms, I like that you are doing these kinds of videos. Fundamentals can never be learned too often.
Very good video. With millions of new gun owners, it's a good idea to help everyone learn the right way to maintain their firearms. I can remember when I was trained to clean the M16A1 somewhere around 1984... I still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about "when is it clean enough." The horror... Lol Thank you for the video.
This is the first channel I've seen someone putting CLP EVERYWHERE! I appreciate the absolute disregard for overapplication. No BS cleaning lol. Personally, I would never do it like this, but any cleaning is better than no cleaning.
I am a new GX4 owner. No experience since hunting with my father and using his .38 a few times to kill a few cans. Most of my experience is with a 4-10 when I was 10 - 14. I was successful with it. I have many BB pistols which prep me somewhat. So I know the basics and hsve bird and squirrel hunted with a lot of doves and squirrels brought home to my mom to fry up. I am taking the VA safety course for my concealed carry permit before I start going all Rambo at the range. I havn't even shot my GX4 yet. I think the slide spring is very stiff and I try to cycle it every day over and over about 40 times. I have the stock 11+1 clip. I bought an extended pinky grip for $6 and $35 for an extended 13+1 clip & grip that I love. Plus 1 standard 11+1 clip. So that is about 38 rounds so cycling it 40 times a day is prep for that. I want to make sure I am not damaging the slide or spring but this is what the shop said to do to: A. Get me used to it B. Get the gun loosened up just a tiny bit. My father always used mineral oil and gun oil I don't know what CRP is other than Corrosion and Rust Protection which I WILL buy (now that you showed it.) Overall, your video helped this NOOB out. It is a privilege to own and (conceal) carry a firearm. I bought 200 practice/copper rounds for it and 2 boxes of hollow tip. Thanks again, Chris in VA.

Just bought this two days ago and going to shoot at the range with it tomorrow. This video helped a lot and I will watch again when I clean it tomorrow.
A nice tip for you guys. Here in Brazil I saw some guys modding their GX4, adding (basically glueing) a small lever in the disassemble bolt, turning it into a lever. If done nicely, doesn't affect the handling of the gun, but maybe you will need a different holster for it. I recommend it ONLY for range guns, not your edc.
Changing my grip when I clean my slide. I’d been holding it like a taco for years. Kickstand is the way. I just haven’t thought about it. It’s the little things. Thanks
Glad to see these type videos. Everyone wants to post videos shooting. But not so much maintenance. You use more lube than I do. And I clean my bore more. Doesn’t make me right and you wrong.

Great video!! Did you do a tutorial on how to clean a Springfield Armory Hellcat? If so can you share the link? I just bought one was hoping to make sure I clean it the correct way always. You are clear and give good views on how to do it.
I have an older 24/7 pro and the slide comes off by rotating the takedown pin that sits just in front of the slide lock. Yours may be a newer model and maybe there is changes, so sry if this is useless info haha.
I know it's not aligned with the video subject but I have a hi-point jcp 40 that has a loose safety, the safety works and it's not missing any parts but I don't like that it's loose, is there a way to fix this?
The answer to your question is “it depends”. If you’re only doing indoor range shooting, then I recommend disassembling and cleaning your magazines whenever you find the followers start to bind when loading them. For EDC pistols, I unload and clean once every six months or so. If you shoot outdoors and drop magazines on the ground, you might want to clean the magazines after your range session. I’m only one data point, but if I think the magazine needs to be disassembled and cleaned I do it. Hope that helps you out…
My GX4 hasn't came back from Taurus, it's been two months now. This was it's second trip to have a trigger/ delay discharge fixed! I'm selling it when it comes back,I can't trust it for edc!!!

Cracks me up, all the Taurus haters here. If you were to put all the micro double stack 9's on a table with no markings on them, and nobody knew which one was which, and let people shoot them all, folks would pay just as much for the Taurus as they would for any of the others. With the ergonomics and the best trigger, with the exception of maybe the Shield Plus, I bet more would pick the GX4 over all the rest. lol I like the fact that I can pay 1/2 as much and get the same amount of firearm.
