As a Wizards fan, this was great to watch. You did a great job. I remember me as an 11 or 12 year old kid begging my dad to get tickets so we could go see Jordan play. I had my Wiz Jordan jersey and I remember how electric the crowd was. Good memories and thank you for bringing me back.
This was me too!! I saw his last game and was so excited. He scored 15 too I believe which is all you can ask for. Legit at 10 years old! Had the jersey and everything. Technically, The Last Dance was supposed to be about the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, not just Michael Jordan. I actually would have liked to hear more about the team and the other players, but considering the greatness of Michael Jordan, it's hard not to make it all about him.

I believe that Mikes return to basketball to the Wizards was a true testament to just how amazing of a player he was. To be 40 and still scoring like he did and being still one of the best players is simply amazing and it was great seeing him play again. I'm from UK and an Orlando magic fan. I feel so so lucky that on holiday to orlando I got to see the magic vs Bulls with MJ in the team. Though funny enough it wasn't MJ I was there to see. I came for Shaq but the man was traded to Lakers and that's when penny Hardaway got the spotlight. I recall MJ hitting about 30 odd points and the Magic got whupped .
Seeing him live was like no other. The only player I've ever seen that could TAKE over the entire game over and over. I've seen lebron do it a couple of times. But Jordan would literally Take OVER on defense and offense. The best highlights of that type of play you could look up is where they played the Grizzlies when they were Vancouver Grizzlies. He scored the last like 12-15 points in a row and made the comeback and won the game. Also the 63 pt Celtic game in 86 I think. And the Knicks (several Knicks games) but theres one where he was blocking on one end scoring on the other he completely took Over like no one else was around. Thats why the generation that watched BOTH play almost always say Jordan over Lebron. If I only saw lebron play I would think or say hes the best I've ever seen. But nope. Theres another. He can have the coach in his pocket, he can force all the offense through himself and he can give himself all the minutes he wants. But the main factor is that with all that he was still going against guys younger than him and he had to perform. You can't just negate what he did because you simply say, they forced the offense through him and he was the boss of the coach. So, what if he bricked every shot or got bodied whenever he drove to the basket. No way would he be able justify to his team, the coach or the NBA fans that it should continue. I really didn't appreciate how amazing his comeback was until I myself got older. I was 20-22 years old and grew up hating Jordan. So I was, well, less than excited to see him playing again. Yeah he was the greatest, but I was always pulling for the teams the Bulls would ALWAYS beat. I'm more impressed with his performance from 2001-03 than his last two title runs against Utah. keep in mind the Wizards (01-02) were actually on pace to not only make the playoff, but could have climbed to at least the 4th seed or even the 3rd seed in the east.The Wizards were 26-21 at the time MJ went down early Feb that game vs the Kings after a 21-11 record from Dec to that point. They were beating teams like Pacers, Magic, Hornets, Nets, Mavs, Kings, during the stretch in Dec and Jan. It was scary how a 38 yr old was still dominating most of the players half his age. No one, and i mean no one other than MJ could've done this for the Wizards at that time. and after watching The Last Dance, you realize the 2 years as the Wizards was what he wanted not to tarnish his career, but to challenge himself to maybe fill a void that he wanted someone to knock him off the pedestal.

I was born during that short period of time when Mike was playing baseball, then I didn't get cable in my home until late 99. So I never got to see him play in his prime. He was only a legend that the older kids talked about. I remember being stoked when he started playing for the Wizards, I couldn't believe I was finally able to see him play. It was far from the greatness of his time in Chicago, but as an 8/9 year old that I was I loved it. I still have a lot of fondness for that time and I have a very vivid memory of that last game he played.
I like that he returned one last time to play for the wizards. I was born in 1993, so I don’t remember too much about watching him play on the bulls. But I do remember watching some of the games when he played for the wizards. He was obviously not in his prime anymore, but he was just as competitive and dominant as he always had been. He was still fun to watch.
After MJ retired the 2nd time I never really paid attention to the NBA. It was dark times in Chicago. I had no idea he was having an MVP year in that first season. Great work on this video.

I don't want to start a MJ vs LBJ debate. But for everyone who says Lebron carried a bad team and MJ never did. A team with 18 wins and last in defence and 2nd last in NBA, with one major addition (39 year old MJ) finished with 18 more wins (with MJ only playing 60 of 82 games) and was 6th best defence in the league (before his injury). And just missing playoffs while only playing 3/4 of the season. Imagine he played the whole season? How is that not carrying a team. And that is at 39!! Not prime years. So impressive MJ is as an athlete and competitor.
And that was all with no other all stars. I thought RIP Hamilton only won One chip with pistons not 2. But Let's see lebron at 41 and see if he can have 50 even 40 point games. Ain't gonna happen. He had another member of the Dream Team with him, multiple players that had just won NCAA championships, all stars, a former Bulls teammate, a defensive specialist that he played against in the finals, and his old Coach from Chicago. He was racking up 25.2 ppg until that injury and was getting better as time progressed. The last 20 games before the injury he put up 27.5 and the last 10 games before the injury happened, he was averaging 29.7 ppg along with 6.6 assists and 6.1 rebounds - those stats were nearly identical to his years with the Bulls

As a Wizards fan, this was great to watch. You did a great job. I remember me as an 11 or 12 year old kid begging my dad to get tickets so we could go see Jordan play. I had my Wiz Jordan jersey and I remember how electric the crowd was. Good memories and thank you for bringing me back.

I believe that Mikes return to basketball to the Wizards was a true testament to just how amazing of a player he was. To be 40 and still scoring like he did and being still one of the best players is simply amazing and it was great seeing him play again. To watch him play the game was true beauty and I’ve never seen anyone play it the way he did. Nor will I. Great job on the documentary!!

I'm from UK and an Orlando magic fan. I feel so so lucky that on holiday to orlando I got to see the magic vs Bulls with MJ in the team. Though funny enough it wasn't MJ I was there to see. I came for Shaq but the man was traded to Lakers and that's when penny Hardaway got the spotlight. I recall MJ hitting about 30 odd points and the Magic got whupped .
Seeing him live was like no other. The only player I've ever seen that could TAKE over the entire game over and over. I've seen lebron do it a couple of times. But Jordan would literally Take OVER on defense and offense. The best highlights of that type of play you could look up is where they played the Grizzlies when they were Vancouver Grizzlies. He scored the last like 12-15 points in a row and made the comeback and won the game. Also the 63 pt Celtic game in 86 I think. And the Knicks (several Knicks games) but theres one where he was blocking on one end scoring on the other he completely took Over like no one else was around. Thats why the generation that watched BOTH play almost always say Jordan over Lebron. If I only saw lebron play I would think or say hes the best I've ever seen. But nope. Theres another. The original 23. Look up.some of the full games on youtube like the knicks 55 point game..unbelieveable.

People forget, the Wizards had gone 24-12 after their bad start and MJ had a 25.1/6.2/5.3 stat line with almost two stocks (steals + blocks) a game. They were 26-21 after the Kings game where he hurt his knee. The 4th seed in the Eastern Conference. True story. They were a playoff team with 38 year old MJ as their best player. Then he got hurt and they bottomed out, finishing 9-24 with Jordan only playing in 14 more games. Such a shame because he had played GREAT in January. You could see he was getting his game legs back.

The year before Jordan joined the team, they were 19-63. That's a 38 year old SG coming out of retirement to bring them more wins by the All Star break than they had the entire season before that while putting up MVP numbers.

He can have the coach in his pocket, he can force all the offense through himself and he can give himself all the minutes he wants. But the main factor is that with all that he was still going against guys younger than him and he had to perform. You can't just negate what he did because you simply say, they forced the offense through him and he was the boss of the coach. So, what if he bricked every shot or got bodied whenever he drove to the basket. No way would he be able justify to his team, the coach or the NBA fans that it should continue. The dude was still producing at a super high level for anyone in the NBA. GTFOH.

I really didn't appreciate how amazing his comeback was until I myself got older. I was 20-22 years old and grew up hating Jordan. So I was, well, less than excited to see him playing again. Yeah he was the greatest, but I was always pulling for the teams the Bulls would ALWAYS beat. I'm more impressed with his performance from 2001-03 than his last two title runs against Utah. keep in mind the Wizards (01-02) were actually on pace to not only make the playoff, but could have climbed to at least the 4th seed or even the 3rd seed in the east.The Wizards were 26-21 at the time MJ went down early Feb that game vs the Kings after a 21-11 record from Dec to that point. They were beating teams like Pacers, Magic, Hornets, Nets, Mavs, Kings, during the stretch in Dec and Jan. It was scary how a 38 yr old was still dominating most of the players half his age. No one, and i mean no one other than MJ could've done this for the Wizards at that time.
and after watching The Last Dance, you realize the 2 years as the Wizards was what he wanted not to tarnish his career, but to challenge himself to maybe fill a void that he wanted someone to knock him off the pedestal.

I was born during that short period of time when Mike was playing baseball, then I didn't get cable in my home until late 99. So I never got to see him play in his prime. He was only a legend that the older kids talked about. I remember being stoked when he started playing for the Wizards, I couldn't believe I was finally able to see him play. It was far from the greatness of his time in Chicago, but as an 8/9 year old that I was I loved it. I still have a lot of fondness for that time and I have a very vivid memory of that last game he played.
I like that he returned one last time to play for the wizards. I was born in 1993, so I don’t remember too much about watching him play on the bulls. But I do remember watching some of the games when he played for the wizards. He was obviously not in his prime anymore, but he was just as competitive and dominant as he always had been. He was still fun to watch.
After MJ retired the 2nd time I never really paid attention to the NBA. It was dark times in Chicago. I had no idea he was having an MVP year in that first season.

I don't want to start a MJ vs LBJ debate. But for everyone who says Lebron carried a bad team and MJ never did. A team with 18 wins and last in defence and 2nd last in NBA, with one major addition (39 year old MJ) finished with 18 more wins (with MJ only playing 60 of 82 games) and was 6th best defence in the league (before his injury). And just missing playoffs while only playing 3/4 of the season. Imagine he played the whole season? How is that not carrying a team. And that is at 39!! Not prime years. So impressive MJ is as an athlete and competitor.
Mj carried 80s bulls teams. That was one of the worst teams in the league before Jordan made them a contender.
And that was all with no other all stars. I thought RIP Hamilton only won One chip with pistons not 2. But Let's see lebron at 41 and see if he can have 50 even 40 point games. Ain't gonna happen. He had another member of the Dream Team with him, multiple players that had just won NCAA championships, all stars, a former Bulls teammate, a defensive specialist that he played against in the finals, and his old Coach from Chicago. The best team in the East both seasons only won 50 games but he couldn't even take a team with all that talent to the 8 seed or a winning record 🤷

It's about the natural ability and doing never before seen shots. You can go anywhere in the world I bet and they know this man's name. I saw a documentary on Bushmen of Africa around 02 and the interpreter had on a Team Jordan Tee and Nike slides. Never forget what this man has done for the game that everyone from everywhere and all walks of life loves so much.
The wizards chapter is the story of a man who knows he GOD DAMN well still had it and wanted to prove it its honestly beautiful every man will face the day when his time has passed him by and Jordan is no different!
Jordan understood that someone came to see him play that day that has been wanting to see him play maybe for 10 20 years. Or even while he played he wanted to make sure that person that finally got to see him play went home with a smile on their face. In a world of me me me. That's just an awesome character trait to have as a very popular individual.
Idk what ppl say... As a kid that grew up a MJ fan... I loved the MJ Wizards years... More Jordan was always a great thing... He was a true competitor that wanted to get everything out of it he could... Respect

That's what people keep forgetting about when they talk about how his performance as a Wizard was bad and forgettable. He was racking up 25.2 ppg until that injury and was getting better as time progressed. The last 20 games before the injury he put up 27.5 and the last 10 games before the injury happened, he was averaging 29.7 ppg along with 6.6 assists and 6.1 rebounds - those stats were nearly identical to his years with the Bulls
He would have still scored a lost of points, but he would have LOST AND LOST AND LOST because he's a selfish self centered egotistical jerk.

Then he hurt that knee and it was a wrap. No more lift.

Great video bro , thanks for sharing this. As a huge MJ fan , I think it’s a great ending to his storybook career. He proved he could still compete with the best of the generation behind him. And proved how extremely athletic he was playing all 82 games averaging 37 minutes per game. That is really impressive.
