Fresh Perspectives is a fantastic book. I still have my original copy from high school...it's missing the front cover and some of the pages are pretty wartorn but I still love playing through the warmups in it. Highly recommended.
They did it much faster in their afternoon rehearsal. This warmup was really condensed from what I'm used to seeing them do. They played through maybe three excercises, a couple show excerpts and left to take the field.
love that book too. however, it's older than sin, just like the Blue Devils Book of Drumming. wish they both would come out with something new. wish a lot of corps would come out with books and more often
Anyone have any idea what it would take to make SCV or the Blue Devils. I can play any rudiment at any time lol and i can do them at ANY SPEED and i can outwork anyone because thats the one thing i know nobody can beat me at is my work ethic. But does anyone have any idea of what i would need to be prepared for for trying out for SCV or the Blue Devils?
just cause you wouldnt be able to play it clean...... lol its not ridiculous.... its a good warm up we play it in our college line check us out UTEP DRUMLINE
Ability is only a small part of what they're looking for. You need to have the technique the particular corps is looking for, and these days you have to have prior corps experience and live in the area to even be considered for the top corps. It's pretty gruelling process, I tried out for SCV in 1999 and didn't make it because of my technique. I'm sure some guys who have actually marched SCV or BD would have better suggestions for you. Do some research on the Corps' websites, and good luck!
I've watched this at least twice a month.. for the last 7 years or so
Bro I’m here I’m here just chillen.
I would have never guessed. Thanks for sharing :)

I don't think anyone caught this yet. The groovin' melody in the basses at 0:38 is from a tune called Ti Mon Bo by Tito Puente.
cjzimbo 👌🎶❤️😎😇😎❤️🎶👌
I always got that bass drum part, but didn't know it had it's own origin.

Can someone Send me the bass part?
does anyone else notice the giant tenor player?
the one on the far right.
I love this warm up. But I never knew why it was called Thirteen.
Can anyone explain?
The accent pattern that the snares are playing is 13 notes
Bass split equals ^^
try playing our show music
I have the original sheet
I thought it was because the count off was thirteen notes..
ohk
