- Don't miss this video of the Santa Clara Vanguard tenor ensemble performing at the 2005 Drum Corps International individual and ensemble competition. This competition is held annually to provide percussionists, winds, and colorguard members with an opportunity to showcase their original compositions.
Who's here in 2020 and is still satisfied by this performance??? One of the best features I've seen to this day.
2004 drum break
Watched this video countless times in high school computer class lol
Yeeeeassssss
still come back to this once in a while.... so amazing
it's 2019 and........yup, same lol
I want this played at my funeral. It's the best thing I have ever heard.
Same
Glad to have had Matt as my instructor! Cant believe its been almost 20 years since this performance
The best part of this entire ensemble is the cymbal player waiting in he back for the most epic crash of all time
Medal winner
A crashy bongo was more epic but this is good too
I think I have to watch that again.
Yes... yes, I did.
Rewatching in 2022 to remind you that this whole thing is great but thumbs up if you loved the phantom of the opera nod on the chimes 👍👍👍
That center tenor was a frontman and a hype beast.
Still fresh in 2021!
still awesome, 16 years later
FACTS
Yay!! Ryan Masterson. He totally was a drum tech at our high school all last year and was the drum caption head for spokane thunder which I totally did all last summer. He taught me so many cool things. I love kickboxing with Ryan Masterson!
Still watching this :)
that was fricking sweet. my night just got better after watching that.
dude, the guy in red is totally our new drum tech. way to go ryan
i really wanna see who did better than them, cuz this amazing!
Probably a group with better technique that didnt treat it as a joke and wasnt full of themselves
I love that the 2004 drum break is worked into this! Sick!!
I played tenors with Ryan in High School. He was a badass then, and apparently still is now. It is amazing that he only started drumming as a freshman!
When you hear phantom on the chimes it's the same quad part as krackus.
yea i realize that, but at one point I know for sure that it is because i played it as a warmup
They got awesome talent...especially the cymbalist.
well he is the drum tech at my high school. st francis
this is that shit they were so clean together....soo much sound quality
thats cool!!
They all look older than 21 to me
@chutdigadut yea notice when his left hand went up it went up awkwardly
CYMBAL MAN IN DE BACK!
really incredible. you guys jonz'd it up!
I'm not sure if it is at 2:56, but it definitely is Double Beat 2004 at 3:02
wowowowowow
they are so good.
🙏✊🏾
Wow
@chutdigadut yea and the sick part is, he didnt break while in set after it hahaaha
Why does everyone think 2 16th's and 1 8th repeated on the spock with some groove on the other 4 drums is automatically from double beat?! It's not! lol.
Best tenor line ever!!!!
that was awesome
2:54
you guys know that most of the stuff was just a colloboration of past scv shows.
@chutdigadut he broke his hand right at that second. no joke
at 1:22 when they do the phantom of the opera what drums are they hitting i only know like the first 4 hits?
and i really want to play it at school lol
Basically Music City Mystique 2017.
I believe there is sheet music for this.
Ayyy Krackus at 1:26 😂😂👌🏽👌🏽
hey...i know that this is an original composition but is there any chance that there's sheet music that i can get along with it? u guys are kick-ass
Lol replying to a nine year old comment but anyway it's in Violent Tenor Cream on Tapspace.
“Dam”
@uclabruinsgo1 I think they got 3rd
2:24-2:26 the Blondies Head is so damn crazy ^^
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE
I tought that guy back in the uniform was a dummy..LOL!!!
Where can i find it??
And i heard a 2004 part in 1:35 to 1:40
3.34 is a very clean roll!
sexy
all though this ensemble is freakin AMAZING!!! i really wish they would have wrote their own music. at 2:56 they copied the 1992 line. That was in their ensemble but still freakin amazing.
The blond guy should of had a pizza delivered when he wasn't playing.
Obviously section leader. :P
It's Called Tenor Beat. It's one of the tenor etudes they play in the lot. It's totally separate from double beat.
@jamieman28 ha holy shit that would be so freakin painful....what a HOSS!
@jamieman28 haha what?! noo way! really?! such an SCV Cymbal thing to do I guess haha
ha. ryan masterson is the shit. he teaches the academy tenor line :-)
