waylen BEARE "clean enough" is exactly right. Snares are tuned to hide dirt but that also makes it so nothing really pops. And for Rennick lines, the front ensemble is getting most of their points, battery not so much. The snareline is "clean enough" for the judges to justify giving them first place, but it was really earned by the front.
I'm going to get flamed but, I think they play too many notes. Sometimes it's needed but the horn book isn't this busy. I love listening to them though.
Superior book and execution. The difference between this and early season is in the wonderful detailing, or attention to every minute detail. The interaction between sectional parts is so clear, we get a feast of rhythmical complexity. Bravo.
Very high quality video, my only problem was that it got a little shaky at times. Even with that, yours is still the best finals video out, and you got it out quick
This is cleaner than Sibelius
Nick Lazo yeah but tbh Sibelius is pretty dirty
"Clean" maybe. but hardly any of those rolls really locked. Snare sound is supposed to cut.
Roberto Roboto clean enough for first place. Probably more of a tunning thing. Snares aren't as cranked and they're pretty wet

Roberto Roboto I don’t think you can tune to hide dirt. Either it’s there or it’s not.
7:40 Bass 5 went insane on that solo holy shit
LOL
Never thought I'd see a bass 5 solo but here it is.
😂
And I'm sitting here just waiting for action like ". . . . . . . I get it" lmao
Oh I get it
3:05 =💦💦💦💦💦
it's so damn juicy

These beats should be illegal to minors

yeah, and it's a different kind of complexity from a line that plays more "ram"-my parts.
One of my favorite books ever
something tells me that tenor visual put in at 8:02 was to keep uniformity while the tenor one left from center adjusted his glasses
Brennan Tremblay probably right! Haha. I didn't even notice that!
Damn, good eye for catching that.
lol maybe
That's so funny lmaoo
I saw the same thing in another show this season, I think in Metamorph...
if you're walking past SCV... you're making a huge mistake
Heyyyy the North Texas Vanguard drumline
I don't know that anyone will ever be able to tune like Paul Rennick
why am i so hard?
i've never heard so many shots in a show all while being one of the most musical shows i've ever heard... that's rennick i guess
Center quad @4:35 made my day
They make midi sound offbeat
Pyrotechnics at 6:15 - 7:07 ... holy s***. And 7:40 - 7:50 is why you play bass drum. Spectacular.
Bass 5 moment
Kudos to some major cleaning in the snares from Atlanta to Finals! Also, this is the most musical battery book since Casella's departure. 👍
Greatest Percussion hands down...
Best part is 3:24 when Lady says "OH MY GOD" after tenor break. I agree with you.
That girl has it right after that tenor break starting at 3:03. She says, "OH MY GOD!" SCV,baby!
Did anyone else hear the echo of that shot at 8:49?
The roll at 9:17 gets me every single time. The crescendo on the roll was perfectly balanced.
Samwell Tarly is on the end of the snareline
That is the cleanest quad line I've ever head. Better than Cavs 2011
Andrew Cerny and that's a serious claim. Idk I didn't see green machine live in 2011
The quad visual at 8:02 haha
I know you made that one Travis!
9:23!!! damn!!
7:55 made me giggle. Such clever/musical writing.
2nd movement starts at 6:15
Closer book at 7:40
That quality of sound is insane. perfect tuning. Beautiful writing.
Listening on a phone, so it's hard to say for sure, but Jesus CHRIST this shit sounds clean.
Quad section is unreal.
9:10 *E!*
Eat*
Banana costume guy in the background 4:09
That's my favorite spot to watch drumlines. The statues are always ready to relieve my shoulders of the burden which is my snack bag.
Nice video! I was going to check them out at Finals but the crowd was too large by the time I got to them. Glad someone got their full finals lot!
The center snare was my tech when we won WGI PSO 2017 🔥🔥
Cllleeeaaannnnnn
Very high quality video, my only problem was that it got a little shaky at times. Even with that, yours is still the best finals video out, and you got it out quick
Welcome back Colin Bartlett
They're drumline is smokin!! They deserved this win!
and your spelling is crying
say on god
Thunderous! Can't wait to see them again in Pasadena next summer. And, agreed, Phantom's battery was on-point this season...too bad the show missed.
That roll at 9:17 🤘🏽
Clean playing. Great tuning and drum sound. Beautiful writing. Rennick has truly done something special at SCV.
Alexis Robles that’s why he’s in the hall of fame now! 👍
Overnight Productions Amen.
Best tuning in all of DCI
Charlie Nawa I agree! Rennick has my favorite sound, tuning, and music in all percussion arts.
Charlie Nawa Tenor tuning
Drum One: C#
Drum 2: A#
Drum 3: G
Drum 4: F
Spock: As High as you want...
Yeah Rennick definitely be on shrooms when he writes the book 😳
Can't wait until the up to date stuff is available!!
#VANGUARDFANIN2021TOO!!
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!!!
I DONT THINK THE SILENT DRILL TEAM BAND KNOWS WHAT ITS MISSING IN A COACH!!!!
Who is that drummer on the left of the quads
this is so clean, you can hear the grace note of every flam
I think my drumline can hang.
i always wondered if dynasty harnesses are comfortable bc those look uncomfortable
Samarth Vohra our school has dynasty drums. When carrier is brand new, its very uncomfortable. After several rehersals, it gets better
Hey colin
Gangsta!!!!
Good God
8:48-8:56
Ey yo, show me more of those sweet, sweet symbols
Why doesnt scv use full size tenors?
Yellowfling Rennick doesn't prefer full size, and vanguards writing style doesn't call for it either. It's just the style
Yellowfling By full size you better mean two spocks. They use deep shells
They are still "full size" 10,12,13,14 drums with 6" shot
Too bad they are playing Dynasty. The snares sound congested to me. Yamaha is the way to go.
I can't believe this won, a little skittish every now and then
Right. Says the guy on You Tube comments.
