i love the signal that the center snare gives to indicate when to begin. i used to play in an ewe drum ensemble, and it reminds me of the signals the master drummer would give to begin a new sequence or song
The line scv had this year has to be the most intimidating line I have ever seen. Probably my favorite, too. 2:27-2-31 gives me nightmares its so scary.
The most amazing desplay of hand independence ive ever seen. Theres no way i could play this. it just too weird. but somehow it has a groove to it at the same time.
@tenorchops04 just interpret them as triplets on beats on and four with RLL sticking. In case you want a more technical explanation, two dotted sixteenths are the subdivision of a dotted eighth note. So you would just fit two dotted sixteenths in the space of the last dotted eighth note of each 4 over 3 rhythm. Either way they come out sounding like triplets.
@PhantomDrums917 I don't think there is any kind of pulse going on in there. Watch carefully. You'll notice, once the center gets good and ready, he starts playing quarter notes the guy next to him picks it up, and so on and so forth until it all comes together.
I miss it as well, I also don’t mind SCV winning 5 drum trophies in the last 6 seasons either. But this exercise is so money and Broken City I feel has taken this concept to whole new level.
@jhs9412 Actually, I think you are right but perhaps someone off camera is cuing them into it? They all look up at roughly the same time? Maybe the instructor is giving them a visual cue off camera? Still way cool exercise. :)
I already flash gordon henderson now, but tell you what. sence im a nice person ill send you double beat 9000 and and krackus without the trade. Whats your email?
it's not really a warm-up for warming your arms up its for limp independence and thought process having to keep two thoughts on your head and say ok I'm gonna tap here and play complicated ass rhythms here
This line did a lot of things before they were cool, definitely ahead of their time.
I say this constantly. Thank you for commenting this 🎯

It's like the beginning of an orchestra concert where all the string instruments just play to tune up.

Back when SCV used to groove like Bloooo is now...
This is what it sounds like when my line plays triplet grid!

Somebody has to do a vine video about this beginning "Best drumline ever"
Definitely the best vanguard line in a while.
Organized chaos...I love it!!!! Somehow there is a pulse in there...just amazing how it all comes together!!!
KAT KAT

Why are they’re tenors so damn high up on the stand lol

they so need Murray Gusseck back....

Even their "hacking" was clean
20 years ago...this was absolutely illegal to do in the lot on show day!
That shit at 4:30 is phat and fire!

@jhs9412 Actually, I think you are right but perhaps someone off camera is cuing them into it? They all look up at roughly the same time? Maybe the instructor is giving them a visual cue off camera? Still way cool exercise. :)
