Oh my goodness, God is good like you always say. I am out of lip balm, went to the store to buy vegan organic lip balm and had major sticker shock - 2.50$ for 1 tiny one!!! God led me to your video - I can do this, with your instructions, thank you. I will be using candelilla wax instead, being a vegan. 😍 I am learning so much from you.
I bought the Ylang Ylang and vanilla lip balm from you a few years ago. I loved it so much I made some for my friends and family. It was a hit! It wasn’t as good as yours but it definitely got me away from buying the high dollar eos from the store. I love my lip balm and this is definitely the way to go! ❤️
Wow I have all the ingredients for this too. Yaay. Years ago I bought some lip balm holders like you have and never got around to making them. Now I have even more stuff to make them awesome. Thank you for the lesson you are a great teacher and super inspiring Heidi.
Heidi, I am soooo excited! All my ingredients came in to make my entire makeup plan based on your videos. I have everything laid out and I'm going to start today. Even more cool - a young lady who was sick has been following the food regime I used to heal (whole organic foods) and she is healing and now she is interested in the makeup. I'm sending her your videos. I am just so excited about this. Thank you so much for the lovely way you share with all of us. You have changed my life and improved my family's health! Love you!
I spent the morning watching your videos on lotion, soaps, etc. I bought a few more products to get myself established under your link on Amazon. I can't thank you enough for making these videos. I do well with some of your instructions and terrible with others. I'm the lady who makes all my skirts now from having learned from your videos. I have about 10 skirts now that I wear. And I ONLY wear them and nothing else - very rarely any other skirts. I make my own aprons too and now I am making my husband and son's pajama pants and shorts using the draw string method I learned from you. They plan on wearing them around the house and to work on the homestead instead of jeans because it gets so hot here. I made a "quilt" skirt (just the fabric like you do) out of red, white, and blue prints and it came out so cute. I think I'm going to use more sheets and fabrics to make more patch quilt skirts like that because it makes kind of a calico feeling and it's very feminine but still very country, which is what I like. I had put off watching all your makeup videos and soaps and all that because I was overwhelmed. I had to catch up on basic skills before I was ready to do all of this, but now I'm ready, READY! And I'm so excited! I'm going to make some lip balm and soap and give those as gifts for Christmas. We have several farmer's markets here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast mostly in urban areas. The local urban folks enjoy getting fresh produce from the gardeners/homesteaders. I can sell anything there I make so I thought maybe I could bring some of these kinds of items (including my home baked bread) and try to sell them there. We also grow herbs and I'm increasing my gardens. I LOVE watching your videos - you so inspire me! You have helped me more than I can express.
Can't wait to try your lip balm! I have some frankincense and am keen to try it in the lip balm. I have the containers already. My husband and I try to make as much for ourselves as possible. I love the idea of adding some cocoa powder for a tint.
Hi... I found your video by way of doing research on Frankincense. I also love Frankincense as well and when I saw your previous video and then this one I was hooked. I want to make Frankincense Lip Balm so I'm gathering the simplest recipe I can use would be: ~ Bees Wax ~ Coconut Oil (refined if I want to remove taste and smell) ~ Castor Oil (optional) ~ 1-3 drops of therapeutic Frankincense essential oil (will have to test for the best amount to use) Am I correct? If so I'm going to start making these this weekend:) You have a new fan in me. I have subscribed and will be binge watching your huge catalog of videos. Thank you so much for teaching us these great self sustaining skills.
As long as you do not exceed 50% of the main ingredients with the bees wax, it should be fine. Too much beeswax makes ti too hard, not enough does not set up up enough for using in a stick form but can work fine in a small pot
Hi Heidi I really enjoy watching U on u-tube. I have made many of your recipes, including the hair oil. My question is how often would U use the hair oil in a week. Looking forward to hearing from U. Colette from Ireland.
@RainCountry: Heidi, have you ever tried using Myrrh infused oil in your lip balm along with the Frankincense? Both are very good healers, as you know.
Can you substitute almond oil or something else for castor oil? I don't have any but I have all kinds of other oils and butters for making creams etc. Hoping it would still setup well!
My cousin wants me to make a natural lip balm for his 95 year old mother who has been waking up in the mornings with her dry lips stuck together. I planned on making a lip balm with beeswax, coconut oil, Shae oil and vitamin E. What are your thoughts on these ingredients? Any suggestions? TIA
I do not see anything wrong with them other than making sure the ratios are correct to get the right consistency though if too soft, one can simply pour into a glass, four ounce jar. I rarely use the stick lip balm, only when I am out and that is what i keep in my purse, I actually use my skin cream as a lip balm. The ingredients are similar but less beeswax so it spreads on my face, hands, feet easily enough: ua-cam.com/video/M9e5J6Vs1V0/v-deo.html
Thank you for this video. I know you color your balm with the cocoa powder. May I ask if you ever tried to color it with your flowers? Maybe dehydrate pink, red or purple flowers and then powder them to try to get colors?
I have only colored some with cacao as an experiment, I really do not wear colors much at all so I have not tried others but I would think beet powder would make a great color as it looks more burgundy or even red cabbage powder which has a lovely purple shade
Go team RAIN! Going to show my hubby this as I love that pour spout on the measuring cup! Heidi thanks for sharing how to do this! Just gave me an idea to make some Christmas gifts. I have all the ingredients but would just need to buy the containers! Wait, I don't have the infused part of the avocado oil, not sure I would have enough time to infuse that , but I'll have to check that video out. BTW, I love the way you are so considerate to offer links to videos and products for people, you are such a thoughtful and giving person!
Heidi, I’m going to try and make your lip balm. I enjoyed the nutmeg lip balm that I ordered from you so much. Really better than any commercial lip balm. Can I ask if this is how you made it and what you used for that flavor? Just nutmeg the spice? Added instead of essential oil? Thank you in advance. And I understand if you are unable to reply. 🍁🍂🧡🧡🎃
For future reference., whenever I mention links above or in the icards, simply hover your mouse over the upper right hand corner and you will see an i pop up, click on that and you will see a list of videos I have linked there, I also link some that will pop up on the screen right at the end of the video. I do sometimes forget to add some links or I run out of space, but I did actually remember that one there, haha! To save you time,, here is that link: ua-cam.com/video/a25lTRQkABI/v-deo.html
Cocoa butter is pretty hard so it may be a good option but if you are wanting this in a stick form, you will need it pretty solid, other wise you can simply store in small pots or jars.
I absolutely love the content of your channel! I am pirsuing a country living and you definitely know so many ideas to make anyone's adaptive process smooth. I wish I could buy the items to prepare and store the different recipes. I am going to depend on God's providence.
You can email me at raincountryhomestead@gmail.com. Eventually I night be putting stuff up on Etsy again, I just dislike dealing with them because they charge so many fees these days that I have to charge more for my products when going through there. You can also check out my facebook page: Rain Country Hand Crafted Goods. I do not have my current soaps and lip balms up there yet but am planning on getting those up this week. I do have my skin cream listed there as well.
Well, after I said all that, I went ahead and listed a few things on Etsy after all and will be putting more up through out the week: www.etsy.com/shop/RainCountryHomestead
Sweetie are you sure you want to be using Castor oil? Workers harvesting the beans are at risk of serious health effects due to the plant being covered in extremely allergenic compounds, and the major byproduct of processing the oil is the deadly poison Ricin.
Here is what I found at the Cornell University website: "Castor beans are pressed to extract castor oil which is used for medicinal purposes. Ricin does not partition into the oil because it is water-soluble, therefore, castor oil does not contain ricin, provided that no cross-contamination occurred during its production." After centuries of castor oil being used internally and externally, it would seem to me that it would be much easier to find more pages focused on the toxicity of the oil itself and not just the seed if it were a serious issue. Mostly what one can find it the amazing benefits of castor oil. I have been using the castor oil more religiously again in these past few weeks and am thrilled with the results. The organic castor oil I purchased through Stacy's link just came in and I am very impressed. Though more expensive than NOW Foods, I will recommend this one even more so. Though I try to be careful with toxins in general and have an aversion to most things soy and canola, there also comes a point where I have to decide I cannot live in fear of everything or the stress from that will kill me far quicker than the toxins I cannot fully avoid. We already have plans for a video on that very topic
Essential oils are best because they are not only natural, they blend best with the oils in the balm. Non oils will separate out and not blend through the mix unless you go through the messy job of emulsifying them. Even then there is no guarantee they will stay blended
This video is old and I do not recall which brand I was using back then, probably Nutiva before their price doubled. I now use the Kirkland brand organic virgin coconut oil from Costco
I love your lip balm recipe❤ I want to use your recipe for face/healing cream to put in tubes so we all can carry around boo boo cream😊love and prayers❤👍
Yes, it can seem costly up front but you need so little of each thing AND each of these things has many other uses than just lip balm. One also does not need to purchase the containers, they can simply store in whatever small recycled jar they have, this is what I used to do before I started getting interest years ago from those who wanted to purchase my lip balm. Plus, I like the portability of the sticks.
O yes, you also have to consider the amount of lip balm, skin cream, and more that can be made with these ingredients, it would be enough to last several years or more. Then do the math on each tube or pot of lip balm purchased and how often it is purchased. Then consider the ingredients and if they are truly natural and healthy
Dolly Perry when I am wanting to try something new, I buy very small amounts that are cheaper. Then I get my family to give me used containers. I have a monthly budget and it took me 18 months to stock up on supplies. Now I can make just about anything I want and I spend very little money because I have invested in tools and equipment. Second hand stores and yard sales are my favorite. 😊
I bought mica powders years ago and only last week decided to finally start to work with them, as you will see in the video that publishes this morning

If ya add lemon balm it's good for cold sores.
Frankincense is my favourite also. Thankyou for sharing your natural product making skills. Could this lip balm be made in an enamel milk pot?
Yes, I see no problem with that :D
Thankyou so very much. Was looking for a use for my little pot

I just used my last chapstick i bought from you.😭 I love them. Gonna try to make my own now. Does Mr. Rain make the holding blocks to sell by chance?
Yes, he does, I think we have one available on the store now but if we are sold out, I will let him know he needs to make more
We grestly enjoy your instructive videos. Blessings
Thank you!!
@RainCountry: Heidi, have you ever tried using Myrrh infused oil in your lip balm along with the Frankincense? Both are very good healers, as you know.

You make that look easy! So do you ever use vitamin E in them?
No I haven't but it is also a great addition. It has the same consistency as castor oil so one could substitute on for the other :)
good day to you Mrs R !! great to watch see how you much this stuff

I should've waited to comment until the end. ha ha gotcha, can just use the oil. I do have some calendula and marshmallow root though. :)
Haha! Yep, you can make it without the infusion but getting your oil infusing now means it will be ready for making birthday gifts later :D

I didn’t even know there was nutmeg essential oil! Thank you! Thank you!

As always I love your health and beauty recipes! My saved videos and amazon list are growing...lol!! 👍
I love this thank you.
Thank you Alicia!
Love Love Love this video! Thanks Miss Heidi!!!
Thank you Alicia!
I couldn't find the link to how Mr Rain made your measure cup pour spout. I love this idea! Would definately help my lipbalm process! 💗

Thank you so much! 💗
this is something I have been wanting to do.
Thank you❤️
I just made a batch with rose.
Another great one !!!! Thank you !!!
Thank you Gloria!
Instead of using beeswax could you substitute for something different
Cocoa butter is pretty hard so it may be a good option but if you are wanting this in a stick form, you will need it pretty solid, other wise you can simply store in small pots or jars.
What is the conservation time please ? Does it melt easily ?
Love watching your videos. I ordered some stuff off your Etsy store :) It will be a gift for some special to me. Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!
All packed up and will be shipping off later today :D Thanks!
Could you use rose Mary infused oil?
I am sure you can

wish i could live with you omg
Right! That would be wonderful
Very cool. Frankincense is my favorite.
Can I use organic almond oil?
If you mean for the oil infusion or in place of the infused oil, yes, you can
😀
Is your vanilla an essential oil..or is it actual vanilla?
It is an essential oil that I believe is made from the flowers. Liquid vanilla would not mix well
is it necessary to put the castor oil or can I make it without the castor oil?
It is not necessary, only an added bonus
@@RainCountryHomestead and instead of avocado oil can I use grapeseed oil or almond oil
Yes
@@RainCountryHomestead thank you!!

I have added cacao powder from time to time to make a nice color.
Rain Country Interesting, do you recommend beet juice? Thank you for responding by the way.
I am thinking beet powder (very fine) would work better, I am not sure the juice would blend with the oils
