I'm sorry you feel the person who corrected her on the double boiler blew your mind. I do not feel the same and here is why. People, young and old, use UA-cam not only as a tutorial but to learn something new and something they want to know more about. Not everyone knows what a double boiler is and how a double boiler works. When creators are teaching how to do something such as a recipe, they also need to explain the equipment being used. She was not using a double boiler and yet she called it a double boiler. When you go on the idea no one knows or has ever seen the equipment being used in order to make a recipe, calling something a double boiler when it is not, is not being accountable for what they are teaching.

Now this comment is for those of us who actually do read the comments. Thank you for taking the time. I have learned so much from people like you who leave tips and suggestions. So here’s my two cents…. I have a formula that is (almost) exactly like Ellen’s. I made this deodorant a month ago, so I have had time to decide if it is worth making again. The answer, Yes! Yes it is!! Three things to note here. I had used an aluminum free deodorant for years that was free of parabens, dyes & talc and I thought I was using a natural deodorant. I was not. Three or four days after using this all natural deodorant, my armpits broke out. I went thru a detox period that lasted almost a week. (This was a good thing, so I continued). Read your labels and research the ingredients. I just did that with my old store bought stuff and 😵 Baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate. It does not contain aluminum. Do not let the advertisers trick you into paying more for a product that states it is aluminum free. If cornstarch is all you have on hand, then use that. But after watching Ellen’s demonstration, (Thank you for that Ellen! I really appreciated seeing how arrowroot made such a difference.) I would recommend using the arrowroot powder. That will be my choice moving forward. Lastly, I will say that I would put this formula up against Lume. Yes, I can go several days without reapplying. It also works as well as any antiperspirant I have used. (I did make mine with baking soda.) I also used an organic coconut oil with the 76° melting point that works great. My deodorant did have a subtle coconut scent when applying it, but that dissipates later. In fact, there is no scent at all. And by no scent, I mean no odors at all! To say I am impressed with this formula would be an understatement. I will no longer pay $8 for an “Aluminum Free” deodorant nor will I pay $30 for a Natural deodorant. This formulation works great for pennie’s on the dollar.
I started making my own deodorant because I didn't like the way the store bought made my armpits feel. The homemade deodorant is do much better. And cheaper! Thank you for the video.
Coconut oil is highly comodegenic ( rating 5). I would substituted with mango butter as it a 1 or 2 rating depending on refined or unrefined. A good substitute for baking sida is magnesium hydroxide. Its a natural occurring mineral and add a bit of kaolin clay tends to stop sweaty arm pits. Be blessed. Bergamot and lemon and lime oil are all natures deodorant. Those are a great deodorant addition.
Thank you so very much for this video. I had a batch that didn’t go so well, it was too soft, the amounts were wrong not of equal parts. So I re-did it using your formula and added more of the amounts that were too low. And thankfully I didn’t loose the whole batch. I’m very grateful I now have a recipe that works. 🙏🏻 God bless

I have been wanting to make natural deoderant for a LONG time. I am so excited that you have a recipe. I love your videos! You're so amazing and am a big fan. Thanks again
Wow, Ellen, thank you for sharing such wonderful recipe❤🙏. I have been making our deodorant, without baking soda, for some time now (the kind of creamy one that you have to use your finger to apply it on your armpit 🤷♀️) but I have been wanting to make the solid bar version, and I have looked at way so many recipes...😲 so your video has just come at just perfect timing. I buy coconut oil right from a family that live in the countryside, regular melting point I would say (I infuse it with sage for 40 days to make the deodorant) and since I don't have access to mango or shea butter I will try this recipe with tallow, using a little less amount than your recipe calls for 🤔... I think it will work just fine. I will share how it turns out. Btw, I still make your tallow balm recipe, I even make it using sheep tallow that I render and deodorize myself, and even though it's a long tiring process the wonderful ginal product is really worth all the hard work. Once again, thank you very much for everything! May the Lord continue to bless you and watch over you and your family. 🙏
Hi Hellen. I was thinking that, if you use 76⁰ coconut oil, as the melting point is lower, it could work with a harder butter, like cocoa butter, and even use a slightly higher percentage of beeswax. I'm from Portugal, and in the area where I live, it's very hot in the summer, so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to use a harder butter or a little more bee wax. Thanks for the video!

I just noticed....you wrote Sandalwood Essential Oil on the Lavender label. LOL! I do stuff like that all of the time. Glad I'm not alone! :D I will definitely be trying this recipe out. Also, if you melt your big bottle of coconut oil, you can transfer into a clean bucket for easier scooping! I save all of my buckets from WSP or where ever to do this. I've gotten coconut oil from Natures Garden that was in a jug & melted it, then poured into the old coconut bucket so it was labeled already.
The sandalwood label is for the one with baking soda, and the lavender one is for the sensitive skin version😉 Storing in the buckets is a great idea!
I know! Look at your Lavender label. It says Sandalwood Essential Oil as an ingredient. ❤
@@wastelandacres3423 Oh yes, I see it now🤣
Love Sandlewood! What a wonderful slight scent. I'm going to have to try this!
Blessings👍🤗
I love sandalwood too🤎
I was just thinking about an all natural deodorant, I said Ellen will have a good recipe. Thank you Ellen for sharing.
Perfect timing🤎
Simplesmente maravilhoso! 👏👏👏
Time to make more deodorant…liked your comment on using Arrowroot…useful info
Also you can use tapioca instead of arrow root if you dont have kaolin or cornstarch
I haven’t tried it, I suggest a small test batch and see how you like it.
Thank you so much for sharing your recipe.
Thank you ❤
Thank you from PORTUGAL….
Love all you recipes!
Thanks so much 😊
I made it, and it is great! Thank you, Ellen! 😘
Good recipe, I was just thinking today I need more deodorant so thanks for taking the time to make it 👍🏻
i'm in love with the packaging as well, very minimal and clean
Thank you for your video so informative
Thank you from South Africa. Much appreciated. Love your stuff. ❤

Thank you! 😊
@@EllenRuthSoap please tell me I want to know about recipes, how I can get and learn your business, thank you 🌹😘
Thank you for sharing Ellen! Appreciate you!
You are so welcome!
Just what i was looking for. I cannot wait to give this recipe a go.
Hope you enjoy💕
Never found a natural deodorant that worked, yet. Maybe I will try this.
I had very stinky armpits and when I started using a natural deodorant, it took me a few days to get it to work. You may have to go as long as a week or two to get your body to get acclimated to the new product. But it works and you are not exposed to poisons.
@@dottiemaesoapery9637 I even heard it might be necessary to detox your armpits for a while if you have been a longtime aluminum deodorant user
Thank you for sharing your recipe! I made deodorant paste for my family before and it worked really well. I want try making this next when I get back into making stuff from scratch.
Thank you Ellen for sharing it, I will love to try it.
Thanks for the recipe...
Thank you Ellen I enjoyed your video! I became a new subscriber after watching this video for 2 minutes. There is a lot of information on making your own products but I knew I found an expert with the exact information I've been seeking. I will watch your other videos but I am especially interested in making homemade soap.
Thanks for subbing!💕
Gracias eres un amor por compartir con nosotros 😊
I can’t wait to try this! Thank you! ❤
I can't use anything with baking soda, but oddly we also found that recipes with kaolin clay ALSO irritated my skin. So if you have really sensitive skin (like me) stick with the arrowroot powder!
Thank you so much
Thank you for the video
You have a beautiful smile! ❤
Oh thank you!
Very nice, thank you
I love this❤
