Hello from Indonesia, Ellen. Thanks for sharing your recipe. God bless.
You have such a positive, bubbly energy! I love it.
Thank you❣️
Oh yes so friendly
I'm glad I found this one after the other balm recipe! I think the slick is what I need! I am just having issues figuring out what temp to pour these at! There's so many different answers when I research it! I appreciate you making these videos and not gatekeeping like most people! You're amazing!
I'm so happy one of your videos showed up on my UA-cam. You are such a lovely person and I'm looking forward to making these. Thanks for sharing your talent and being so clean and explaining everything so well. Best to you!

Thanks💋
I have chapped dry lips and I've been looking for a perfect lip balm for me. The one that I had used and ran out was from Mumuso Korea and I really love it. I hope I could try your recipe and your lip balm too.
Ok Ellen, we tried the lip butter over the weekend & we LOVE it! We added lemongrass on our 2nd batch. They are like BUTTER on the lips. I gifted some as well. Again THANK YOU THANK YOU for sharing your wonderful recipes. Very GENEROUS of you! ❤️💕🥳🎉🎊
Let me tune in 😊
I really love the way you share tips, tricks and recipes. God blesses those who share...Thank you and God bless
Thank you so much💕🥰
I’m late to the game, but what I have planned is to make these! I ordered my equipment. I’m halving the recipe and playing with the recipe ingredients but thank you for leaving your older content up for people to learn from. Then I’ll be getting my soap done!🦋🌹
You are the Best ever❤
I found this video on how to make some really nice lip balm labels using canva. I was really impressed with the labels I was able to create.
Oh Ellen! I was so nervous to make this because it’s my first time but l watched your video step by step. This may sound strange but l felt like you were holding my hand as l was doing this. AGAIN, l so APPRECIATE all your videos. I know from my own experience it takes a lot of time especially for those of us who are tech challenged. Sending lots of virtual hugs from my family to yours. We can’t wait till use these balms! ❤💕 THANKS AGAIN! 🙏
I have made both lip balm recipes. Love them both. We are in summer here in Sydney, Australia. Got so many comments on how wonderful they are. Thanks for sharing. Been looking for a lip balm recipe. Love watching your chanel. Learning so much from you . Thanks Lorraine
Thanks so much for watching! I'm so glad you're loving the recipe❣️
Looks like an awesome lip butter, and I love Sweet Orange, and Peppermint in the winter. I like the cool tingle feeling, but spring and summer are great for Sweet Orange, all bright and smells incredible!
Thanks! Yes, I love the minty tingle too😉
I made my first batch of lip balms today! was supper easy and just love it!
Wonderful!
HOW NICE 🎉
Thank you
Excellent
Hi Ellen, I’ve just made some lip balms using your recipe and they are awesome. My sister loves lip balms and she loves the one I gave her to try. I also tried shrink wrapping for the first time and it’s quite an art form. I managed to get the knack. Thank you so much for your videos and ideas they are a true inspiration. Lots of love, Fiona x
Wonderful!💕
Can you make more of your shower steamers? I am running low on them. My 5-year-old doesn't feel good. All stuffed up and double ear infection. Your shower steamers are wonderful and help unplug his nose. I let him take a bath last night and put in your calamine bath bomb to make him feel a little better. He is sitting on my lap right now watching. He said Ms. Ellen makes me feel better.
How precious! Tell him it's on my to do list for this week, they should be in the shop soon💕
How much do you sell the lip balms for?
That's exactly how I make my labels and shrink bands I love ur recipes thank you for sharing be safe and take care thanks Ellen xoxo
🥰❣️
I have to give your recipe a try. Your lip balms looks very nice. Thank you for sharing.❤️
Hope you enjoy❣️
its great have made it several times
I like it
I post here because I've learned so much from other soapers and I like to share the knowledge. I love this idea because I have the same issue with commercial products, especially if I'm outside in the cold and have to use it. Thanks for sharing this!
Agreed, I love the "soaping" community and shared knowledge! These were very nice and smooth even in the cold💕
Thank you for sharing. Lip balm has been tough for me. I’m a hobbyist soaper and I might try balms again.
I hope you give it a try❣️ of you do, let me know how you like it.
The syringe idea is a balmy brilliant one! I've only done lip balms once, and pretty sure I could've gotten 2-3 more tubes filled from my spills! I need to order some more lip balm supplies...including these syringes!
It really did make the whole process easier and less messy😉
The syringes are called "catheter tipped syringes" in case anyone is having a hard time finding them. We use them all of the time in patient care, so many uses, great little tools. You could probably use luer lock syringes too and not have any problem with the tip clogging once the balm cools down.
Made this today. 26 .5 0z. Tins. I added a lip flavor oil from WSP. My girls love it. I sell it in my spa!
Wonderful!💕
I love using a syringe too but mine is much smaller which helps with the wax not cooling too quickly as I only do small batches. 😊😊
Thanks for sharing! I’m a lip balm lover, use it year round. I can’t wait to try your recipe, I have everything I need to make them. I will let you know, how they turn out. 🙏🏾💕💫✨✨
Awesome, I hope you love it!
@@EllenRuthSoap I tried it last night, love it! 😆🙏🏾💕💫✨✨
Thanks for sharing!! Keepie Factory is a great place to get lip balm tubes made in the USA😊
Dear Ruth,
I stumbled on your Lip balm video. It is amazing and I like the way you explain the whole processes. I loved especially the branding bit; it is amazing. I would like to connect with you; I live in Uganda
Very helpful video, thanks for taking the time to make this. I was looking for a solution to the sinkhole problem when the liquid solidifies, that's been bugging me forever. What I had been doing was filling them up almost to the top, letting them solidify a bit(before they totally solidify) and then topping up the end bit but it's such a hassle and most of the time I end up getting those sinkholes anyway. I'm going to try a hairdryer, and if that doesn't work well I'll try your heatgun method.
I also like the syringe method for filling them up, that looks good too!
👍💕
Ellen!!! Its so good to see and hear you 🙂 lovely project yet again you nailed it on these slick lip balms 👍 gathering up some courage to make some of my own one day 🤗 you are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for a beginner soaper like me 🙂 and now a fan of your lup balm tutorials... Thank you... Keep your videos coming.. waiting for more soap videos ❤️❤️❤️ lots of love hugs Ellen!! Stay blessed as always xoxxoxox
Oh thank you❣️
@@EllenRuthSoap ellen I sent you an email just a bit ago ...but as for using the syringe method I had a thought/idea pop into my head for keeping the product from solidifying while in the syringe....get a clean wash rag wet it ring it out set it in a microwavable bowl before you put it in to microwave and warm it for a minute or two let it cool for a minute take it out with a set of tongs lay it inside a ziploc bag as flat as possible close the bag up let air out and wrap the bag around the syringe tube and that should keep the product from hardening or fill a pot with water bring it to a boil grab the cloth with tongs make sure you are wearing a pair of the rubber cleaning gloves with either method but with the stove top method you'll want to have those rubber gloves handy after you pull the cloth out with the tongs, then ring the rag out and lay it flat inside the ziploc bag and wrap it around the tube and fill away!
⭐⭐⭐⭐💯🥇 perfect 👍👍
Ellen, I may have some amazing information to share with you! I first saw you lip balm making video a few months ago. I had suggested using a ketchup or mustard bottle for filling the tubes. The method you used today was great but I ran across something that may be life changing! Have you heard of lip balm flood trays? The one you are using would work but it would require you filling all of the holes in your silicone mold. If you have not heard of this search UA-cam for it. It could make the world of difference. When you are making small batches I think your way is good but if you are going to do a whole tray I think the flood tray is the way to go. Always enjoy your videos!
Yes, I've seen the flood trays and they're so cool! If I ever make a large batch, that's the way to go❣️
I just made your other lip butter this afternoon - being in the depths of winter in England I decided to switch out 1% of the butters for castor oil... feels great so far. I do like the look of this recipe though so I think I might have to try it tomorrow. Thank you Ruth
That's good to hear about the castor oil, I've been curious how it feels in a lip balm...
Hi Paula how many grams of castor oil did you put and grams of the butters to change the recipe. Thanks!
I can’t wait to try this recipe!! Thank you for sharing!! ❤️ I tried those same labels on my last batch and eventho I cleaned my tubes very well, the labels absolutely refused to stick. I was disappointed in them. 😒 thank you again for the recipe. ❤️
I've had a few containers that the "kraft" labels don't want to stick on, and I pull out my old fashioned glue stick, works like a charm!
@@EllenRuthSoap Lol. I used glue sticks. Came loose next day. Used wet glue, came loose again next day. Used hot glue. Still came loose. I gave up and just took them off, cleaned the tubes and just added info on the lip balm box. 😂 I hated it, not buying those again. I bought quite a few and really hate they didn’t work well but back to you, you are by far the best soaper on utube and I for one am so appreciative that you share so many recipes and clear instructions with us. Not many do that so I appreciate you!! As you say “ Be Blessed”Ellen!! ❤️
Hi Ellen
I recently found your channel and I love your style of teaching and your products that you make look wonderful ! I appreciate you sharing your talents with the world 💗
I’m just curious if you think that this recipe would work well in the little lip gloss tubs to apply with a finger tip ? Thank you for your time and God bless you
Welcome❣️ so glad you found me! I think this recipe would be great in a tub or tin.
You could print an extra label. Cut the tab off and place it on the display container, so people know what they are. Sell them at gas stations, and small local grocery stores!
I love this lip gloss! Did you do a video using Rosewood musk from Nature's Garden?
I haven't tried that scent yet from them, but it sounds really good!
GREAT JOB HAVE A BLESSED DAY. KATHY FROM CALI😎
Thank you! You too!
Use a piping bag. The heat from your hands will keep it from solidifying too fast. Learnt that in a baking class.. Hope that helps y’all ❤
Thanks for the tip!❣️
First, I’d like to thank you for sharing your expertise in such a detailed and beautiful manner. I just had a quick question if I’m using aluminum tins for the lip balms, should a preservative be added since most likely will have to use finger to apply? Thank you so much.
Because there is no "liquid" portion, you don't need to add a preservative. Hopefully folks will have clean fingers when using😉
I like that you mention sanitizing your work area and utensils. The other UA-cam how-to videos say nothing about doing this for making lip balm and to me that is a very important step for making something to be used on the lips.
I would love to purchase one of these from you to try Ms. Ellen. Where would I go make that purchase. Not only do I want to support you as a fellow soapmaker (although I still consider myself a newbie), I'd love to try this as I would love to find a really great lip balm that I would actually like. It feels like all of the commercial ones, even Burt's Bees brand, seem to just require I put them on over and over again which I do not prefer. Excellent video, as always. Thank you so much for being so willing to share your recipes, tips, and tricks. I absolutely LOVE your channel. Tonight, I binge so I can catch up! 🤍
Edit: I love that shea butter and it is my go to but I can't stand the bagged method. I know it's probably cheaper to sell that way, but I'd pay a few more bucks for the option to get a bucket instead of a bag. 🙂
Edit2: Gosh I type so much. I am so sorry. I would so be your shrink wrap girl because to me, it is sooooo therapeutic. LOL!!! Now I need to go check my soaps and see if I have any ready to shrink wrap. 🤣
Thanks Heather 🥰 ellenruthsoap.com is where you’ll find my goodies😉
Thank you, Ellen! I see this recipe leaves alotvroom for preference of oils. I think that's great! Do you get the shrink-wrap from Amazon?
I got the shrink bands from WSP
Sounds nice!
Have you ever tried castor oil or hemp seed oil in any of your recipes? I am low on lip balms so when I make them next I was going to add a very small amount of it to my recipe to see how it does.
Yes, I've used hempseed oil, and it's wonderful!
@@EllenRuthSoap 😊
Love your content. Informative and inspirational!!! Quick question, what dimensions are your labels, as I'm trying to order some myself. Are they 2.125 x 2.125?
Here are the labels I use: www.onlinelabels.com/products/ol2162?src=dlc-265
Please can you consider doing a skin test at the end of your videos so we can see how the formulation goes on to the skin
That's a great suggestion! Next time I'll try to remember to do that.
@@EllenRuthSoap that would be awesome. Thank you so much! Happy crafting 💕
Hi! Thanks for sharing you recipe ! I enjoy your videos. I am hoping to try the recipe for lip balms . Do you have any recipes for children’s bath bombs
Or soap?
I have a soap recipe playlist👍
Hey I love watching your channel. Do u heat at medium heat. And is your scale a warmer as well?
I do heat just until melted. My scale is just a scale 😉
Woooow!!!!
Woooow!!!!
Todos tus proyectos son ESPECTACULARES!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Eres espectacular!!!😁
The clear wraps are called shrink bands and they are from Wholesale Supplies Plus. Thanks for watching💕
Hi Ellen, I made this recipe and I love the way it glides on! I am running into a small problem though. After about 10-15 uses, the lip balm starts to get clumpy or chunky. Do you know why it would do this? I didn’t leave it in a car or anywhere where it could get too warm. It just sat on my office desk. Love your channel!!
Wow, that's interesting... I haven't had that issue. You could remelt and make sure all the oils are fully mixed..?
@Angela Kauffman since you tried it do you think this recipe would be good I’m a tin or mini tub instead of a chapstick tube ?
Thanks Ellen, I really like lip balms/butters. That's all I put on my lips all year round. I tried your last recipe and it turned out gritty. Do you know why it would of done that? I do use a double boiler method as I do not own a microwave. I still am using the gritty ones as I do not like wasting the ingredients. I will try this recipe and see how it turns out.
I think the Shea butter is probably the culprit, it can get gritty if it's overheated. Try a very slow and low melt, that should help.
Leave the Shea butter out and use the heat from other butters to melt it, Shea doesn’t like heat too much
Hi Ellen, I tried this recipe it turned out great except that it still is a little hard even though it is summer here. Should I reduce the beeswax quantity to the recipe so its more moisturising and less hard. Everything else is perfect
Yes, you could reduce the beexwax a bit and see how you like it.
Love your recipe. Have to say that I wonder why you need shrink wrap in our plastic-filled world when your labels have tabs!
It keeps the label safe, and is very sanitary for the buyer...
Do you think the Lorann flavor oil drams would work?? I know they're usually used in candies..
I'm not familiar with those, so I'm not sure??
i love it !! can i add color ?
Yes, you could add a skin safe mica.
@@EllenRuthSoap can I know which kind of color can I use
So how do you make your labels 😉 just messing with you Ellen 😏 I've got to make more lip balms this week too. I always use essential oils to make mine as well
🤣😅 ...labels... not my strong point❣️
Can you please provide the link for the shrink wrap for the lip balms? Thank you
They are from Wholesale Supplies Plus
Could you add a color to the mix with a lip grade mica?
Yes👍
Hi thank you for making this lovely video. I just have one question: for some reason Shea butter irritates my lips but nothing else (I can use it everywhere but my lips) do you maybe know why this could be?
Wow, I’m not sure? Lips are delicate skin tissue, so you could sub the Shea with Cocoa or mango butters
I use canvas free templates for my labels and it’s the easiest I’ve ever used! Have you tried them?
I’ve been wanting to check them out…. Now I’ll have to😉❣️
What are your thoughts of natures garden selling lip bomb base do you think that would be good for beginners?
I haven't read the ingredient list on their bases. I have a video coming soon where I'm testing Bramble Berry's lip base, which has great ingredients. The bases do make it very simple to do.
Please at what temperature do I need to pour it and also do I need to refrigerate it
You don't need to refrigerate, room temp cool down is fine. And I like to pour while it's still very warm, so it doesn't start to harden up in the pot.
I have been watching you for a while and I l really love your videos and a lot of your ideas, tricks, hacks and suggestions. Your videos are such a great resource and inspiration to me. Thank you so much for all you do. I think I am going to buy all these supplies and try my hand again at making lip balm. I have issues with a fine sand feel to the lip balm and it is likely the shea and mango butter. I have read all the comments and done some of my own research, so I have a couple of things to try to overcome this (double boiler on low heat, adding the shea butter after the other butters have melted, and tempering for 30 minutes). Or maybe I will just use cocoa butter (or mango butter) and consider other butters later as I learn more about lip balms. I need some immediate gratification. LOL. And I designed my labels using canva and then shared them with maestro and they came out perfect. Try checking out this video; it was easy to follow.
Can this recipe be put in little tins or jars? Thanks
Yes👍
Have you ever added mica to your balms for color?
I don't color my lip butters, but I know some folks do.
The problem with citrus essential oils is most are not safe on the skin in the sun. They can cause sunburns. Not something you want in a lip balm 😉 If you really want a citrus it’s best to go with a “10 fold” orange not a sweet orange
Thanks for the info.
Haven’t heard of a “10 fold” orange. .? Interested
Hi Ellen thank you for sharing your recipe :) my first batch was so good that I did second one, but I did something wrong, all my lip balms have white spots on the top and inside tube, do you know why? I will be grateful for any help.
Hmmm, I'm not sure what that would be? But it could be melting at too high of a temp, or not melting all the way and there are bits of unmelted butters??
I'm not sure. It could be too high a temperature, but I have like white spots on the top of my cans lip balm, too. Thank you for fast reply and for help, I need to reflect on what I did step by step.
I worked for a company that made sterle tips like your syringe. There manufactured under a sterile and clean environment. to clean, best with isopropyl alcohol. also my question is there a substitute for cocoa butter?
Thanks for the cleaning tip! You could try to sub the cocoa butter for another hard oil/ butter and see how you like the finish.
Can I use other essential oil instead of sweet orange
yes👍
easy label question! Did you print your labels? Or designed on maestro & mailed to you?
I print them at home.
@ 9:06 I like your other recipe too but can we put a bit of oil in it? Would it make it a bit more slick? Now, as I am new to your channel, do you have an idea (or a video) on how to ad a tad of colour in the lip balm? What would you use?
yes, a bit more liquid oil will make it slicker. I don't color my balms, so I can't give an exact amount on colorants.
@@EllenRuthSoap Oh! Ok! Thank you 🌹
hello, since you filled 28 tubes could you do 56 drops which is 2 drops per tube? Could you also use flavored oils?
Yes 👍
If your balm gets too hard while trying to push into the tubes can you melt it a bit in the microwave?
yes, and I found that sucking more hot oils and expelling them clears out the nozzle too.
Hi Ellen! Just wondering if sweet almond oil could be used for the liquid oil?
Yes, it's wonderful in lip balms
@@EllenRuthSoap amazing, thank you!
Can I use a blow dryer instead of a heatgun? I’m ready to make my first batch…🤞
Yes👍
