The use of a TIG is some I have to save for. I can weld mild steel and stainless with $200 Vevor 210 amp TIG, high frequency inverter, touch start arc, stitch weld, clean and flex torch neck that works on 240Vac or 120Vac. No foot pedal and no reverse polarity for aluminum. I am in retirement so the need to weld aluminum keeps going down each year. And foot pedal? I am used to my MIG trigger, so learning a pedal with size 13 boats on my feet maybe just fine. I reversed the pedal to downward action like gas in a car, to use a commercial single needle lock stitch because I couldn't use it in treadle style.
Great information as always. A softer TIG is obviously the way to go for gaps & hammer / dolly action. Two thumbs up!

Interesting pedal. So more of a brake with full throttle normally.

@@turboflush No, instead of tipping forward for amps or sewing machine to go, my 8" 2X4" has a notch or cut to hook the pedal front lip. Using a round metal conduit under the wood block as a pivot, the back part when pushed down works just like a gas pedal. Now the few pedals I have briefly seen on TIG videos, it's a box with no open end. My commercial sewing was open and attached to the table legs. Tilt machine back w/belt off, reveals a cast aluminum crankcase for oil. I never knew this but oil pump uses metal lines & hose to lube 50+ parts.
On the TIG, if fabricating a part on the bench, this foot pedal is ok. But on knees or in the car / truck, you can't use the pedal.
Like I said. Shopping as wallet can't afford a TIG from Harbor Freight. I take paper plates apart, eat beef pot pies, grill frozen pizza to save. Question; If welding mild steel only, can you use 25 / 75 (MIGHT Shield Gas) for welding with a TIG? I would like to weld aluminum someday but not know. Regulator, tungsten, tank of Helium add up!
      Hope my answer helps. DK

Being a Bodyman Paint Tech there's nothing worse than going to a show and seeing a door edge a inch wide of filler on the edge just kills the trade-Art.....
