  • I had so much fun interviewing my mom for a video series full of helpful tips from both of us. My mom homeschooled her 6 kiddos for over 25 years :o She shares what she has learned along the way and what she sees as the greatest benefits. I, being homeschooled and homeschooling myself for 8 years, share from my perspective both as a homeschooled child and a homeschooler.

    Your mother is so graceful...speaks slowly without any rush...and manages to not only get her point across but also does it without losing her audience.

    I'm sorry, but is there anybody that can listen to the mom and look into her eyes and deny that something good doesn't come out of homeschooling? It's changing lives and families. The Power of God is all over this video!! We've got to grasp this concept and run with it!!

    Thank you for sharing. This was my first year homeschooling. What a journey! I don't think I'll ever go back. I started the year off stressing so much over which curriculum I was going to use. How I would structure our days and what I would be teaching the kids so that they wouldn't fall behind. just like parenting, my ideas about education have changed so much over the years. I once aspired to produce doctors and scientists. Although there are several Noble occupations, what I now focus on are producing children who are well-balanced, know the Lord and are self thinkers.

    I am grateful for everything in this video...we are the first to homeschool but see the immense value in everything you mention and beyond. Thank you so much for sharing💛This has helped those of us that are still trying to navigate this space with confidence, faith and remembering our reason in our hearts why we dedicate ourselves so faithfully when all the pressure feels to be on the homeschooling parent that is so desperately trying to show the benefits for the spectators just waiting for all our efforts to fall apart. The sacred journey this has gifted each of us needs those like you that inspire us to share this very special message. Many blessings to you, your loved ones and the generations to follow. God Bless!

    First video I see, thank you. God bless you both. I can't afford to homeschool just yet. I'm the breadwinner and a student, and my husband is still in the Uni....he has 2 more years!! My first step I made was today. Our district offers a homestudy program. The teacher encourages us to teach him what we want...he only needs to finish a few worksheets a week, which is fine because my boy is a genius like his father! It's the best I can do at this point in my life.

    I am just going to be starting homeschool this year. I ordered the beyond the page kindergarten curriculum recommended for ages 4-5. I have three young children two boys and a girl. My oldest son just turned 5 on the 13th and my other son is 3 going to be 4 in October. So I was thinking of waiting until my younger son turned 4 and starting them together, and just wanting to you know your thoughts 💭 do you think that would be okay or maybe too much for my younger son to grasp? Or maybe too overwhelming for me just starting out?

    • @lacey.alexandria
      @lacey.alexandria 5 років тому

      I had that same dilemma last year, my kids are close to the same age and I initially thought I was going to try to school them together. I quickly realized that my 4 year old just wasn't ready. And it just didn't work very well at all, with them together. I think it's just the age, lol I bought a lot of little things for my 4 year old to do while I sat down with my 5 year old. Just things like playdoh, kinetic sand, blocks, puzzles, etc. I just found that was easier for us 😊

      Moving beyond the page was originally designed for gifted kids I believe, it is generally about a year ahead. So I would for sure wait a year but I would absolutely blend my kids with it. I blend my kids on anything possible. Look at it once you get it and decide when. If you do decide to blend you can just do life with your oldest, conversation, reading eggs and Mathseeds or something and wait till you are ready to do them both. Just my thoughts, but as we all know, I’m on the looser side of homeschooling 😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️

    Home schooling does not help with socialization. The mother said she did homeschool her children because she wanted to spend more time with her children, and that is being selfish. Homeschooling is a way parents use to brainwash their children, especifically for religious reasons.
    One more thing: It does not help with learning about diversity either.

    • @tayh.6235
      @tayh.6235 2 роки тому +2

      Socialization is interacting with other people. Last time I checked, parents, siblings, fellow homeschooling families, etc. are all in fact people. People don't only exist inside school buildings. Shocking, I know.
      Bonding with a loving, involved parent is beneficial for the child as well. "Being an involved parent is selfish". Do you hear yourself?
      Did you know that passing down your religion isn't inherently brainwashing? It's actually possible to share your faith, make your best case for following it, and then respect your children's human rights to not follow that religion if they don't want to?
      Did you know that going to public school in an area that is homogeneous also doesn't help with diversity? Not everywhere is a major city, you know. And homeschooling is currently booming with black families, and I haven't seen homeschoolers saying anything negative about that. They're all just happy more people are trying it.
      Educate yourself on a subject before you belittle people about it.

      How about socializing with people of other religions? How about socializing with people of another skin color?
      How about socializing with people of other cultures? Good luck with that, if you are only interacting with the same mentality: fellow homeschooling, parents and siblings? It must be so hard for you to see beyond your white nose.
