While boxing is a serious calorie burner, it is also very efficient in burning fat. The high-intensity nature of a boxing workout means it is very good at burning visceral fat, or the fat commonly found around the waist.
The punching bag was designed with power-punching in mind. In fact, speed was only a small part of boxing before fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali entered the ring. So the purpose of punching bag workouts is not only to gain strength and learn to punch harder than you would if you were shadowboxing, but it can also be used for cardio, building speed, and developing solid footwork.

I love these videos. The workouts and the combos shown here are the foundation that all boxers build on. It shows that it's better to start out slow and with good form. When your strength, endurance and confidence builds you will naturally become faster. "Just stay planted. Stay strong and keep moving. Always controlled. Always mindful." Such a great video. Just followed it for the 3rd or 4th time. Nate does such a good job of keeping you going, keeping you focused and reminding you of what you should be doing. Great combos as I'm just starting out but I am definitely getting more comfortable and it's coming more naturally now!

Great stuff Nate! Tried the shadow boxing beginner video, and was so pumped I ordered a Century Wavemaster stand up bag. Just finished my first real workout with it using this video. Great instruction, and more importantly, consistent form on your strikes to attempt to emulate. Definitely made a new fan! Now to find a MMA equivalent with some kicks, knees and elbows!

I’m a beginner i never boxed before in my life but i consider myself a very athletic person and really in shape since i workout everyday for the past 7 years. This workout was very effective for me and i really enjoyed and actually sweated a lot more than i expected 😅 thinking about really getting into boxing

Exactly the video I'm looking for! Been doing plenty of Body Beast workouts over last several years. I'm 43 yrs old. I've absolutely leaned down in my arms and legs but seems like my mid section is most difficult.
I've had some version or several version's of planks in my workouts but not really just a full fledged plank and hold it. So a few weeks ago I started trying to hold a steady plank for 2 minutes each day. Usually after my normal workout routine. Or if I miss a routine I usually at least get the daily 2 minutes plus plank in.
I'm still trying to find something that mixes things up and find other workouts that can be interesting and fun. Shuffle dancing is awesome!! Lol! But very hard on my knees.
Hoping once I get my bag hung I will take this up as an additional form of workout!

Hey Nate, absolutely love doing your workouts! Can you do an intermediate / advanced ultimate heavy bag workout like this where there are no "freestyle" rounds? Just like this one but with 3 punch minimum combos? Ive done all of the 20 and 30 minute ultimate heavy bag workouts!

Hi Nate, loved it, I'm a truly beginner beginner., thanks for making these videos. I have the heavy bag hanging, but it moves quite a bit when I hit it. What am I doing wrong? Is it suppose to move and I just get it sort of still when it bounces too much? Or is it hanging wrong? Thanks so much.
Nate, love the videos. I just got a 12 inch head hunter aqua bag. After putting in the water, it looked like a raisin. So I added air, and it looked like a tear drop, but was like punching a cement block. Should I remove water to make soft, then re-add air?

Im 38 and never boxed before. More of a jogger. Very thin. Recently acquired a heavy bag that is in my kitchen bc thats the only place the giant frame would fit. Im gonna use this workout as a guide bc I have no idea what im doing. Im not pretending im gonna be a "boxer" at 38 but I just want a new way to get cardio and throw some controlled punches. Usually when I have every thrown my fists its been when im very angry. Controlling them while level headed seems totally new to me.

Stand on your toes on your back foot, you stand flat footed then pivot while you should be on your ball/toe then pivot to get more power.
