    My name is Little Bear 🐻. Yes, Little Bear. I'm a Santee Sioux and White Earth Ojibwe. I JUST purchased that Ruger .22 cal. Impact Elite. I purchased it from Wal-Mart, along with tin of Ruger pellets.
    The entirety of the package cost me $186.00. I can't wait to utilize my new weapon. I may have to wait for a couple months until my shoulder heals. I just had my right shoulder operated on.

    Spent my first day breaking it in and sighting it in. By the end, the grouping was looking pretty decent, not laser accurate but serviceable. This morning I got up and popped 2 birds within 10 minutes of each other, one a perfect headshot. The gun is very quiet, even quieter than my .177. The break action feels really smooth. The barrel isn't super long and it has a great break point, it's a little stiff but so far the easiest break action I've operated. It has a really good look, feel and weight, reminiscent of the savage arms line of .22s. Really impressed with the first 2 kills.

    Ben great review!!! One day last fall my buddies were getting together to do some powder burning shooting but the range was closed. We changed things up and we each bought a less than $150 break barrel and shot target in a guys yard. One of my friends actually bought the Ruger Max elite .22 cal for $129. It was easily the best quality feeling rifle of the three. He loved the gun and his gun ended up lasting and shooting the best. I gave him a couple pointers on shooting break barrels and he started hitting the 25 yard target consistently. Great stock and the scope stayed clear and tight the whole time. After about a hundred shots through his Ruger Max elite, the Ruger pointed pellets (at $4.22 a tin) were better than the Crosman HP and the Gamo Rockets we bought at this store. We had a great time!!!! Thanks for the reminder.

    It would be great to see more videos like this, with the testing of velocity and accuracy of budget airguns. With manufacturers sometimes inflating the fps numbers, it's good to see a real life test to put the numbers to rest. I was amazed to see how far below this one shot below its advertised velocity. Still looks like a good piece but the numbers are just a little misleading. Thanks for the good work!

  • @trevorjameson3213
    @trevorjameson3213 5 років тому +4

    That is actually a really good rifle for the price. I bought the Impact Max 22 nitro piston a year ago, and it did require a long break-in period as well as shooting it a LOT, to get used to it, learn the trigger pull, the proper hold it prefers, and find the right pellets that work best with my particular barrel. I also mounted a much better scope with adjustable objective. IF you do all that, which you should if you buy one, then you will be able to get the most out of it, and have yourself a very accurate hunting air rifle that will have a decent effective range. The groupings will be around 1/2" at 30 yards, at least that's about the best I can get out of it, which is pretty good for a gun of this price.

    I bought one of these last week, and after about 200 shots through it, i was hitting just about anything I aimed at through fiber optic sights pretty consistently. However, when I mounted the scope, I could not get the red fiber optic from showing up in my view. Forgive my ignorance here as this is my first time using a break barrel, but I feel like the mounts should be higher. Am i doing something wrong? I suppose I could buy higher rings (and better scope) or put some kind of spacer in the front ring to raise it up 1 - 2 millimeters; but I feel like the product should work correctly as it is sold. I am going to swap it out for a Crossman I saw on the shelf next to it with near identical specs (minus the fiber optic and wood stock) to see if its just the way these things come. I would welcome any advice, please.

    I got rid of that front sight, and suppressor silencer, and I'm shooting 1nch to 2inch groups with the crossman premiere 22. Hollow point at 20 to 25 yards. I believe also my velocity has came up since I removed all that front sight. Now I need to replace that spring for a lighter trigger pull, and I will be able to shoot tic tacs at 50 ft I'd be willing to bet money on it lol.already shooting the caps off a 20oz coke bottles at 50 to 60 feet away. It's a highly accurate airgun but modifications are needed to achieve accuracy. That sight ,and silencer suppressor is a joke!:it slows down velocity, and takes away from accuracy I've noticed since I removed it. The scope is decent enough to hit tight groups at 25 yards anything over that I dont know yet? Also theres a break in period of shooting 400 pellets before the gun starts achieving real accuracy, and do not oil the break point of the barrel it makes it harder to cock the Gun. Make sure you read all directions before shooting it, and go by what they say because its written for that reason. Use heavier grain pellets for better accuracy the14 grain, and up. The lighter ones fly all over the place.

      Yeah I got tight shots after 200 pellets with factory sights. Removed the set screw for the muffler. Had to chisel that thing off after scoping it in. Pain to remove the suppressor. 400 shots later and using the cheap scope; now it’s hitting great groups at 60 feet.

    Bought this airgun and the same HP pellets, cleaned it and shot 20 pellets through to break it in and ensure it was functioning properly before I started going for accuracy. The scope is very very cheap, I mounted it 18inlb and used my LBS to get it close as it was extremely off initially. Adjustment of the scope is reasonable at best, chaotic on average. Couple that with the HP pellets and as you saw in this video, accurate for this setup means 10-12" groups at 30-50 yards. Is what it is. It's good enough to take down rabbits at 40 yards, first day I bagged three, but birds, it'll be a lucky shot if you can get close enough without them flying off.

I had forgotten how much fun Air Guns are to shoot (and cheap!!). Surprisingly accurate too. All the same habits and processes as a powder burner. In the market for a budget adult model. I think I just found it. Love the natural wood stock. They are currently going for $148.00 at the “Box Store”. Oh well, the Pandemic has bumped prices on everything shooting related. I like that gun a lot. I love the wood stock on it. I've watched Rick's videos for ever, and really enjoy your and Angies too. I know you are a very good break barrel shooter. This gun wasn't grouping up to your normal standard, I don't think. Maybe it needs more break in, or maybe it needs more pellet experimenting? For a reviewer, it must be difficult, as you may have time constraints and don't have time to break in a gun and spend many hours testing pellets. I still think this might be a good air rifle.
    I want to thank you for texting this gun, as I have been interested in getting this one, and the older version too, the regular Ruger Impact.

    i love this gun. but after about 3000 shots the barrel catch ball popped out and now the barrel does not lock. i still shoot by manually holding the barrel closed. i kill wasps at 10 to 20 yards with open sights. wish i could find the barrel catch to fix it. the thing i found about this gun is about this gun is that the more you shoot it the more fps you get. im getting an avg of 920 fps with pba bullets 14 grain. and over 1000 fps with raptor 9.9 grain pba. i like heavy pellets with this gun do to better accuracy.

    I just purchased two. Wow neat guns. My father, my kids, and I loved them. The scope is junky so I prefer to shoot just with iron sites. Was able to hit a 10" plate from over 30 yards and could have done farther if the back yard was bigger.

    Hey Ben. I was looking to get an air rifle to take care of some small game that have been getting at our raised garden beds in our back yard. We live in a single street neighborhood and I have a large fenced in back yard. Is this a good rifle for this application, or is it a bit too much for back yard usage? Thank you in advance! :)

    Just got his air rifle. Seeing as how ammo is hard to come by and EXPENSIVE and my .36 cal black powder rifle is a bear to clean, the Ruger pellet gun is a good alternative to plink with after work to keep my skills sharp.

    Thanks for vid. I'm considering this or a Gamo Swarm Whisper. I really like the wooden stock on this and may wanna try the open sights, but also like the 10 round magazine on the Gamo. Gamo is cheaper for me atm, not sure which to get.

    I just got this rifle and after getting the included scope sighted in I'm getting very good groups from 30 yards using Crosman Premier hollow points so not sure why they were shooting so bad in this video. This gun is a beauty and a beast. Looks amazing with the wood stock and has plenty of power. Punched easily through a half-inch wood board and into the water jug I had behind it. Only thing I wish was better on the gun would be the trigger because it is pretty heavy and takes some effort to pull.

    Really like your video's. You're honest and thats what i like. I am looking for the best break-barrel pigeon/squirrel gun for $200. Reliable where the seals don't wear out. I own airforce condor, benjamin marauder, Taipan long, AGT Uragan, crosman 1322, but no break barrel yet. Any thoughts? Thank you.

    I'm commenting here again. Didn't realize the huge difference. At your elevation level, you can afford to shoot these defective cheap air guns. They lose all their power that high up. I didn't realize this at first. My hats off to you my friend💥💪😱😱😱

    When shooting a Ruger break barre airgun, you should always try the Ruger superpoint. I wonder if there's a difference between the impact max and the max elite...or just different in name l

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  5 років тому +1

      The Ruger Superpoints are made by RWS and they are the same thing as the RWS Superpoints. I tried them (off camera) and they did work pretty good. Not as good as the RWS Superdomes worked however.

    I watched all your videos and let me tell you something I found out the most best thing I cannot believe it so I chronograph that myself 1200 feet per second using a 14.3 grain hollow point all I did was take the silencer off I cut it right before the silencer so the barrel is 1 inch shorter I don't know if it's the silencer or if it's an inch shorter but something's making it shoot 10 times faster it breaks the sound barrier also

  • @peterbaugh51
    @peterbaugh51 Рік тому

    Tip: try RWS Superdomes for accuracy and a good low price. Very good pellet in all my guns. For cheap plinking, flat nosed pellets up to 10 yards only. Crosman Hollowpoint good a bit farther and cheap. Forget pointed, fancy, expensive junk. Don't waste yer money when you could get Superdomes. Pellets make ALL the difference with air guns. Even my Daisy BB gun prefers Crosman Copperhead BBs, nailing cans at 15 yards easy. Not with Daisy BBs... So there ya go. Thanks for showing the RWS Superdomes, they shoot great even at 1,000 fps from my Beeman Mantis 177.

    Just bought this gun and ran out of left and up adjustment on the open sights and was still hitting 4" low and 2" right. Put the scope on and same thing, ran out of up and left adjustment and was still hitting low and right. Put the barrel in a vice and gave it a little influence. Took the scope off and started getting zeroed except I noticed the rear sight would move right and left when adjusting height. Poor quality on the rear open sight. I mounted the scope again and started getting near the bullseye when my shots suddenly started hitting 6" high for no apparent reason. I've put about 100 tin pellets through the thing. Perhaps some more break-in as others are saying but this thing is about as consistent as the weather in New Mexico........... I see you got the same results to the same degree with shots landing wherever they felt like.

    Thank you for this review. I'm in the boat of wanting an air rifle for this weekend and am new to air guns. I might be an aspiring firearms snob but...sometimes a combination of lack of money and quick need dictates that a trip to a local store is how it's going to be. Local stock also has my options essentially between this and a $300 air rifle and since i'm not sure how much i'll use it, I appreciate this review.
    thank you!

    Great video lot of information on there one small bit of information I think you could have put in there is that you need to break the barrel in with three or four hundred rounds first also you need to buy a variation of pallets because every air rifle will shoot one pallet better than others. I tryed crossman pointed and couldn't get a group at all but tryed H&H Field Target trophy and got awesome grouping.😀

    Thanks for showing, I was actually looking at this one today, but its 148.00 for the .22 cal. at the box store, so it doesn't come close to the 1050 fps. Wanting and shopping for a good air rifle for hunting is a dizzying affair. Maybe my criteria of having iron sights and shooting heavier lead 22 cal pellets somewhere close to advertised velocity can't be met.

    Ruger air rifles are made by Umarex,and are great.
    My son and I have the impact max and max elite. Both are great shooters.
    Shoot a tin of crosman premier lead thru em,and after 200-400 shots they settle in. Can pop squirrels all day at 30-40 yards. People who complain about accuracy should shoot those 200-400 shots,and use the ARTILLERY HOLD!!!
    You grip it tight,and its all over the place,all break barrels do. Hold it light and it'll get u dinner every day.

    The trigger on mine(bought last week) is pretty bad. It is making it very hard to hold steady while using an artillery hold, and at the same time having to push so hard on the trigger before it will fire. That is the heaviest pull weight trigger I have ever experienced. It says it is adjustable for length of pull( I don't care about that) but not for pull weight.Any suggestions on how to soften it up? That is my only real complaint, but is close to a deal breaker.
